Brie stood on the bridge of the Intimidator, staring off into the distance. Adara was nearby, keeping an eye on the twins. Although a powerful ship, the Intimidator was nowhere near a battlestar.
"Major Brie," a voice called. Captain Nadia was the ship's first officer. "There was something on the screen. A blip in the back of the fleet."
"How many vipers did they leave us with?" Brie knew the answer, but asked anyway.
"Twenty-four," Nadia replied. "Two patrols flying at all times."
"Send whoever is closest to check it out," Brie instructed. She sighed. "Frack, I knew it."

Brie looked over the names of the pilots that had been left with the fleet. They were all older, and, like her, opposed to the idea of changing history. None of them would have done much good in an all-out past battle with the Cylons, let alone protect the fleet in the present. She was upset that her requests for her team had all been denied, she was just left with a bunch of has beens, trying to protect over 200 ships. She picked up Palma and watched as the vipers neared the area where the blip had been seen. No one ever said she couldn't command with a baby on her shoulder.

"This is White 4," a viper pilot said. White wasn't really a squadron, but the pilots who were protecting the fleet weren't from a real squadron anyway, so they just picked it as a name. "I'm approaching the area. I don't see any...Holy frack, it's a Cylon Raider! He's got me in his sights!"
"I'm on it," the other pilot, probably White 3, said quickly. There was a micron that felt like a yahren. "There, he's history."
"Are you sure it was Cylon?" Brie asked.
"Yes Ma'am," both pilots replied at once.
"Hold your position, in case there are any more," Brie said. "I'll be sending a couple more ships your way. This is Major Brie out."
Brie shifted Palma to the other shoulder, then turned her attention to Captain Nadia. "I want half our pilots out there at all times, and I also want a list of anyone with any military flying experience who might currently be on this ship."
"I'll have that for you in five centons," Nadia replied.
"Better yet, have them report here immediately. Hopefully that was just a lost patrol but if they spotted us..." Brie let her words drop.

Brie sat in a small room off of the Intimidator's bridge. It wasn't really a war room, but then again, the Intimidator wasn't really a Battlestar. The ship was small and fast, ideal for quick stings, but wasn't equipped for protecting 220 mostly unarmed ships. Brie had put out a call for any military trained pilots onboard the Intimidator to meet with her. She wasn't really sure what she was going to do with them, but she knew that former warriors would react differently than civilian pilots if they were under attack. Adara was still on the bridge with the twins. Brie wanted them close, but didn't want to be accused of being distracted when the fate of the human race was at hand.
The door opened, and someone walked in. Brie looked up from her readouts and just stared for a micron. "No," she said. "Not you."

Captstadia just looked at her. " I heard the call and decided to come out of semi-retirement."

Brie had been so shocked by the person behind Stadia that she hadn't even noticed her. "I'm sorry, Captain, I wasn't referring to you," she said. "But I'm glad you're here. I want you to arrange for a shuttle to the Gunnery Ship Dimpna. It's all the way on the other side of the fleet, so you'll need to leave immediately. I'll send your orders, and inform them that you're going to temporarily take over command of the ship. I need someone that I can trust there."

"I kind of figured that out Major. Will leave immediately. Excuse me, Major."
Stadia turned to leave the room.

"Captain," Brie called quickly. Stadia turned back around. Brie smiled. "It's good to see you again. As I said, I need someone I can trust on the Dimnpa. I feel a lot better about it now."

That I can do. " CaptStadia turned and walked out of the room so she could get to work. Stadia headed to the landing bay to see what kind of shape her viper was in.

After Stadia left, Brie stared long and hard at the man left standing in front of her. "You don't like me very much," the man said at last. "I've never quite understood why. I mean, I was always very good to Amy…"
"You're not worthy to mention Amy's name," Brie said to Ange. Staring at his ugly face she could still feel him as he…it was one of the few times in her life that she had felt truly helpless. Little did he know that because of that one drunken act Amy had been conceived. The door opened again and two more former pilots walked in. "But," she said, changing her tone, "if Commander Apollo has his way, she'll never have existed, so it's kind of a moot point. Now, everyone have a seat. We have something serious to discuss."
