Brie ordered Lieutenant Curemode and me to follow her to the reactor core. Our primary mission was to destroy that core so the bulk of our people were assigned to that task. Captain Amy as well as Lieutenants ThunderHawk and Deke were ordered to find viable transportation to get us off of the moon once our primary mission was complete.
Just after landing on the Cylon moon base, Lieutenant Kiwi appeared out of nowhere saying that he had the filters that we needed for the mission. As it turned out, we didn’t need the filters or even the envirosuits. There was minimal atmosphere which was enough for us on the short term. Major Brie assigned Lieutenant Kiwi to Captain Amy’s team.
Walking through the moon base was like entering a tomb. Cylons lined the walls down every corridor like grotesque statues. Before we even had a chance to divide our two teams, we discovered that there was a human captive on the base. Major Brie then ordered Captain Amy to first free the prisoner and then proceed to securing transportation. That’s when we made the split and went on our separate missions.
We proceeded to the reactor room without incident. Major Brie, Major Curemode and I were the first three at the door. Unfortunately, our intelligence was wrong and we were standing at an empty room. Major Curemode wanted to utilize the computers in the room to find a map of the base, but Major Brie felt that it was too much of a risk. While they were discussing options, I noticed a map of the base mounted on the wall.
Following the information on the map, our team made its way to the reactor room. Majors Brie, Curemode and I were the first at the door while the others in our team took cover among the deactivated Cylons lining the walls. Once inside, Major Curemode instructed us on the best positioning of the explosives and all three of us set the charges.
While we were still in the reactor room, a piercing noise drew our attention to the large view screen on one wall and Baltar came on the screen. He asked Major Brie who she was and then proceeded to tell her that her husband, Captain Turner, hadn’t actually died in his Viper. He had jettisoned in his pod and was picked up by Baltar’s ship, but died two centars later. He said that Captain Turner’s wingman, Ensign Cal, was also captured and later died under torture.
Baltar then informed us that the reactor we were about to blow up was no longer active and he gave us a choice, surrender or die. Baltar held up a remote similar to the one we had for the charges and activated the Cylon centurions lining the walls of the reactor room. The centurions had just disarmed us when we heard laser fire outside in the corridor.
Baltar ordered Major Brie to control her men and the centurions shoved us toward the door. That’s when Major Curemode set off the explosives and the three of us were propelled out the door. The centurions had taken most of the blast, but Major Brie broke her right arm in the fall.
The Cylons that had been lining the walls were now activated and our infantry team was holding their ground. Major Brie ordered us to shoot at anything flammable to cause as much damage as possible. I thought that we would suffocate from all the smoke and our envirosuits were back on the tanker.
Then Major Brie did something that I wouldn’t have believed possible. She ordered the centurions to cease fire and they complied. She ordered them to place their weapons on the floor and then to show us where the reactor room was. Again, they complied. Hundreds of Cylons surrounded us and lead us straight to the main reactor room.
After we set the charges with centurions watching our every move, Major Brie ordered them to take us to Alpha Landing Bay. Major Curemode blew the charges after we had exited the room completing our mission.
When we arrived at Alpha Bay, the entrance was guarded by a full rank of centurions and they weren’t fooled by Major Brie’s commands. Our centurion escort provided the cover for our men until we were able to eliminate the landing bay guards. We picked up fresh weapons and proceeded into the bay.
Inside the bay we found the Pylos, a luxury cruiser designed for comfort during long space flights. Again we were confronted with Cylon centurions. Sergeant Brinfort and his team laid down cover for Majors Brie, Curemode and me to approach the Pylos. After several tries, Major Curemode was able to open the outer doors and was promptly shot by a centurion stationed inside. He was only slightly wounded and was able to make his way inside once the threat was eliminated while Major Brie and I gave cover.
We took the bridge of the Pylos without incident. Major Curemode inspected the instrumentation while Major Brie and I took the gunnery positions. We cleared out a large portion of the Cylon centurions in the Alpha Bay so that Sergeant Brinfort and his team were able to make it onboard. Major Brie and I then turned over our stations to two of the infantry men.
Corporal Briseis was able to locate Captain Amy’s team through the internal computer and I volunteered to go look for them. I requested three men and Major Brie informed me that we had exactly 30 centons to return.
Lights were flickering on and off as we proceeded toward the holding cells and the power eventually went out permanently so we were forced to use our torches. Upon arriving at the holding cells, we found the prisoner prone on the floor. I ordered two of the men with me to return to the Pylos with the captive and to give Major Brie a message. I sent word that we still hadn’t found Captain Amy’s group and that Major Brie was to stick to her schedule.
Corporal Straves and I continued on and soon located Captain Amy. She had been wounded as well as Lieutenant Deke. Two members of her party had been killed. Captain Amy and Lieutenant Deke then informed me of something they called Purple People Eaters. It was a new form of Cylon centurion that was virtually indestructible.
On the way back to the Pylos, we came across several of those Cylons. Before we realized what was happening, another of the team was dead. I could make out the purple light sliding from side to side and I leveled my weapon on one of the centurions. I fired at close range and it didn’t even faze the centurion.
We were pinned down. We knew that all of us weren’t going to make it back so I volunteered to lay down cover fire. Captain Amy and Lieutenant Deke also volunteered to stay behind because, with their wounds, they would only slow down the team. The three of us simultaneously fired and we were able to distract the enhanced Cylons long enough for our team to escape.
I took the lead at that point and we went into the ventilation system in an attempt to reach the Pylos. We made it through the vents and exited just outside of Alpha Bay. I saw the Pylos hovering in the landing bay and went to work on the door lock, but then I realized what was about to happen. I waved for Captain Amy and Lieutenant Deke to get down just when the outer doors exploded. The Pylos had escaped.
We continued on to Beta Bay in which all of the Cylons had been destroyed when a support wall in the bay collapsed. Once there, I retrieved a Cylon sword and used it to hack off the head of the gold centurion crushed in the rubble. Lieutenant Deke removed a power module from one of the Raiders and I was able to open the hatch doors to a Cylon Cruiser using the gold head. I took advantage of having use of a command centurion and downloaded as much information as I could from the base. (disks provided to command personnel)
Accessing the cruiser must have alerted the purple lens centurions because we were once again under attack. Lieutenant Deke sustained several more wounds before falling to his death down a lift shaft and Captain Amy was choked to death by one of the enhanced Cylons before I could reach her. I was eventually able to disable the centurion with several well placed shots then I had to hack off the arm to get it to release its grip on Captain Amy’s throat. I performed mouth-to-mouth on Captain Amy and was able to revive her after only a short time.
