"You're okay, Logan... Wraith..." Ally said. "But you'd better get clear before I splash."
"Listen to me Bronze. You're stuck with me. So we're getting you out of this mess and back to the Callisto, because Brik is buying rounds for everybody when this is over. He just doesn't know it yet." Logan's voice was calm and steady, trying to force her nonchalance and confidence over the comm channel and into Bronze herself. She was in awe over the Bronze pilot's ability to stay with it. She sounded young and Logan knew that she would have been hardpressed herself under the same circumstances to keep it together. Anybody would. This girl had something. And Logan would be damned if she was going to desert her after she'd come this far.
"Just listen to my voice and do what I say and you'll be fine. Blue to green wire should reinitiate the stabilizing system. thats the last step. You're almost there."
A large mass of debris barely missed Bronze and tumbled towards Logan's Viper. It was instinct at this point to key the tab on her joystick to fire the lasers , rolling at the same time to avoid another one. The longer they drifted in this sector the thicker it got, but now that Wraith was adding his firepower to the effort she thought they'd be ok. Just had to stay on top of it and talk Bronze through it.
"Bronze, whats your status?" She took a micron to eye Bronze's ship, still tumbling amidst the debris, adding her own lasers to her fellow Warriors' to clear a path.

"Wraith...is that you?!....Where the Frack did you come from??"
A wide grin formed on Wraith's face as he continued to blast on-coming projectiles into space-dust.
"Sounded like you two could use a little help...what'd'ya say, friend?...let's CLEAR the road!!" Having been close by Logan when Bronze's viper went into it's "theatrics", Brik had done his best ( just HAD to have a damaged engine!) to stay with Logan to give Bronze aid (frack...that should have been me! But Logan definitely knew her stuff, so Ally was in good hands. The best, actually...so why did he still have that feeling in the pit of himself?). Now that the attempt at repair had begun and Wraith was lending a hand, Brik had been able to catch up and actually be useful to her...to THEM! Yes, to THEM! Aw, frack, who was he trying to kid? He wanted to be useful to HER, the brave warrior that he had never met but who had magnificent heart and skills...and a beautiful radio voice. "Hey, Wraith, Logan...I'm still in the game!" With that. he fell into place with his friends and squadmates, clearing the road and buying time. By the Lords, may it be enough! His frustration momentarily became real as he blasted away at some nearby debris...

"Hey, Wraith, Logan...I'm still in the game!"
Logan heard Brik's familar voice over the comm and nodded her head slightly. "Glad you managed to make the party Brik."
She never let her attention stray from the task at hand as she waited for a reply from Bronze. The tailspin had to be taking its toll on her.
Logan was vaguely aware of the blasts coming from her squadmates exploding all around her Viper as she had moved in closer to Bronze now. Maybe too close. The spin of the Viper was disorienting and the debris particles being detonated on all sides of them left trails of deadly matter careening into her path. The larger ones she managed to take out with her own lasers, the smaller ones crumbled as they made contact with the hull of her ship or the wake of her engines. She couldn't afford to get careless and Brik's timely arrival took some of the heat off her, literally, as she concentrated on regaining contact with Bronze.
"Bronze? Bronze, hit those wires together and right your Viper. Do it slowly to contain your roll. Bronze, thats an order!" She hoped the tone of her voice would jolt Bronze into acting without thinking, which was her best shot at survival right now. She had faith in her own targeting abilities and those of Brik and Wraith, but one wrong move now could spell disaster for them all.

All of the attention given to the Bronze Viper not only drew the Warriors in to help, but Tin Cans as well. Two broken flights of Raiders joined and moved in toward the position, one low and in bound while the other was out of the sun.
Hearing all of the chatter, Ike had punched Vera hard and high, seeing the Raider's manuvers from his vantage point. With the Scarlet Viper's turbos whinning and glowing hot, Ike rushed toward the rear of the high group. Sending a coded message, his instruments screen gave the readout to his fellow Gold Squadron members rendering assistance. Calling out in a heated voice, "Brik, check you scanner. You guys have microns!"
Slipping behind the high group of Raiders, all the while jamming their frequencies... a Cylon turned up and back from his controls in response to a triangular shadow he noticed... then was engulfed by the heated death Ike rained down on the Raider. He took out another in front of him as he reared up, right, and circled low. The remaing Raiders broke in all directions from the explosions at hand.
As he circled back up, Ike lit up the underbelly of an already scorched Raider and it burst into debris. Two others had regrouped and were making a move on his six, but he felt that it was better that way than seeing his friends get toasted. The other group of Raiders moving in on the rescue effort's location were beyond his current reach, as it was taking all he had to dodge the bursts around him.

Ally could hear the voices, almost like a background soundtrack, as she tried to find the wires. Logan... Ike... Wraith... Brik... is all of Gold out to save me? The thought gave her comfort as she closed her eyes, giving in to the vertigo. If she just let her concentration ebb, she'd just slip away and would never know it when her viper crashed into that one piece of debris that slipped through...
A stern voice cut through her thoughts, and she opened her eyes. Over the com, it was Logan: "Bronze? Bronze, hit those wires together and right your Viper. Do it slowly to contain your roll. Bronze, thats an order!"
Ally responded as she'd been trained to, and tried to follow the order. She stared hard into the panel, trying again to find the wires. When she saw them and tried to reach for them, the effort brought a new wave of nausea over her. She let out a tiny, pitiful wail as she forced her hands to move. Even as the two wires were brought into contact, Ally's eyes began to roll back into her head...
Suddenly the glowing red warning lights turned to green, and one by one they winked off as systems were restored. The viper suddenly steadied itself and stopped rolling. Ally's stomach kept rolling however, and with her head spinning as well she began to throw up.
She tried to key her com, and wasn't sure if she opened the line or not as she kept on coughing. Finally she managed to squeak out some words...
"Control... (cough)... restored as ordered... (cough)... sir..."
She wiped at her eyes with a part of her sleeve that was still clean. Oh lords, she thought as she looked down at herself, this is disgusting!

Commander Sheba turned toward me, "Colonel. Get all our fighters away from the planet's atmosphere!"
"Yes, ma'am." I turned to Aegina to issue the call to all of our fighters...
In the main viewscreen, not much was visible except the murky gases of the planet and the Galactica alongside of the Callisto.
Apollo came on the screen. "Sheba, here are the ship's coordinates."
"Got them, Commander," replied Aegina as she fed them into the firing computers.
"Ok, Apollo." Sheba replied.
"On my count. Fire torpedoes! One...two...three...FIRE!"
A slight jolt was felt as two massive warheads fired out from the front of each of the battlestars toward the gaseous atmosphere...their winding contrails flew down down into the murky depths until they disappeared.
Apollo was watching as we all were. Suddenly, he spoke up, "Engage phase adjusters..." he paused as if waiting for something. A boom could be heard and a flash of light in the clouds below the battlestars. "Now!" Apollo yelled.
Streaks of photon particles shot toward the planet and the entire atmosphere it seemed began to glow with a bluish tint. What a light show!

"Control... (cough)... restored as ordered... (cough)... sir..."
Logan allowed herself a small smile as she heard Bronze's confirmation of what she could already tell visually. She had done it. "Good work Bronze. Now form up on me and lets get the frack out of here."
They still had more to worry about than debris though. Ike's incoming signal about the Raiders they had attracted had come just in time. Laser blasts were going off all around Logan. She had trusted in her squadmates to handle the debris for the most part while she helped Bronze, but she didn't have that luxury now. She pulled down on her controls and spun to face the enemy, noting that Bronze had her wing. The familar grouping of three Raiders faced her. It looked like Ike was coming in hot as well, with a Raider on his six and not giving up for anything. She saw Brik come in behind the closest Raider and make short work of it.
Logan targeted one of the Raiders in her sights and let loose with all she had. The corresponding fireball lit up the heavens as she banked away and came up under the battle. One of her squadmates made short work of the remaining Raider. She checked her wing and saw Bronze was still there. She couldn't wait to meet her face to face. This Warrior was made of stern stuff and Logan felt a great deal of respect for her persistence in the face of such overwhelming odds.
A message came over the comm for all ships to clear the atmosphere and Logan saw that the Battlestars were making their move. Ike had made his move as well. Seeing that his fellow Gold Squadron members had things under control he had pulled some pretty fancy flying out of his hat and turned the tables on his pursuer. Nothing left but space dust.
There were a few stray Raiders here and there, but too far away from Logan and her group to matter. The rest of the Vipers had them. It was the first time in a while that Logan felt like she could take a breath, but she knew this engagement was far from over. As if in reply to her musings, there was a sudden burst of light near the planet and the entire atmosphere started to go blue. 'By the Lords,' she found herself saying out loud.

Brik keyed his mic to talk to Ally... "Hey Bronze...Ally...good to see you still in the game!" Her experience made her smile as she could tell when the other warrior was firing or maneuvering by the pasuses in his speech.
"Not much time...to talk...but WELL DONE and...be proud of yourself...all of us are!"
Oddly enough, she saw him wave as he passed by her viper in pursuit of a lone (and out-of-luck) tin can.
He hoped that she could hear the smile in his voice.

Ally wasn't doing much fighting at this point. She stayed tucked in with Logan, ready to defend her back if needed, but happy to see the battle had thinned out a little.
The joystick felt slick, her hand struggling to maintain a grip while it remained coated in the former contents of her stomach. It was everywhere, she noticed. Maybe I need to go on a diet... She squirmed in her seat, feeling the goo that somehow got underneath her. I'm going to need a shower for a secton... This is sick!
Hearing Logan's voice was a comfort, and as she thought about it she knew she owed the Gold warrior a lot. She'd been wrong to think the way she did of her. If they all made it back in one piece, she owed Logan an apology, for things Logan probably wouldn't understand in the first place.
Hearing Brik's voice cut through whatever remained of Ally's warrior decorum. She started to cry, and kept her com closed. Brik! I thought I'd never get to meet you... by the grace of the lords I still might... She saw his wave, and waved back as he flew on. Oh great! The first time I do I'll be on the flight deck covered in barf. Nice!
She banked her viper, maybe I should name it barfy..., staying tight with Logan, and for the first time saw what the battlestars were doing over the planet.
She keyed her com. "Logan? Anybody... by the lords what's happening down there? I've been out of the loop so to speak..."

The baseship shook like it had never before. The slight pull of the gravity from the planet increased the unpleasant feeling that Cyclid had in the pit of his microprocessor.
Something big had happened. "Centurion, what was that?" he asked.
The lead centurion droned matter of factly, "We have been hit with torpedoes. All systems are shutting down."
"Torpedoes?" Cyclid asked himself. "A few torpedoes shouldn't shut down all our systems! There must be more to it than that!"
"Apparently, the torpedoes were not all that hit us. What remains of our instruments indicates a magnetic pulse that has destroyed our sensors and all our mainline systems."
Cyclid thought about death for a micron. It was nothing unusual for a Cylon to know that his time was up and that he was to be destroyed. But, this was something different. He was not dead. The ship was still there, only, it was sort of dead, more or less.
"Centurion. Report on the ship's functions." Just then, the lights above his pedestal blinked a few times and went out. The entire base ship went dark, with the exception of Cyclid's glowing head and the monotonous side to side flashing of the centurion's red eye. There was no sound coming from the ship except the strange metallic sound that the centurion's inner circuits made.
"We have lost all power to the main reactor," came the reply.
Cyclid took quick assessment of the situation. "Oh no," he muttered...
