Richard Dean Anderson joins cast for MGM's New 'Stargate: Continuum' March 20, 2007 (Actors)
Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. (MGM) today announced that Richard Dean Anderson will be reprising his role as General Jack O'Neill for the Studio's upcoming Stargate: Continuum.
Anderson will join cast members Ben Browder ("Colonel Cameron Mitchell") and Amanda Tapping ("Samantha Carter") in shooting on location in the sub-zero climate of the Arctic where the production is working in collaboration with the U.S. Navy's Applied Physics Laboratory Ice Station (APLIS) for the week of March 23 through 29.
"We're thrilled to have Richard join us for Stargate: Continuum," said Brad Wright, co-creator of the Stargate franchise and writer/executive producer for the latest installment for the property. "As General Jack O'Neill, Richard brings both a sense of history and familiarity to the continuing adventures of the Stargate team. And we all recognize his value as the much-loved hero among the Stargate fan base."
In addition to the frigid outdoor environments, the filming will also involve U.S. Navy submarine USS Alexandria (SSN-757). Among the most visually stunning and dramatic scenes to be filmed at the location involves the submarine as it bursts through the ice and into the cold Arctic air with temperatures hovering around 50 degrees below zero.
As previously announced, Stargate: Continuum will shoot a variety of scenes on location in the Arctic ice, located approximately 200 nautical miles north of Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. Martin Wood, Director of over 70 Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis episodes, is confirmed to direct Stargate: Continuum.
In January of this year, MGM made a commitment to continuing to the Stargate franchise by giving the green light to Stargate: The Arc of Truth, which begins production on April 15 and Stargate: Continuum which will feature the epic ice camp scenes, and resumes filming on May 22. Written and produced by Brad Wright and Robert Cooper, Stargate: The Arc of Truth and Stargate: Continuum will include the following Stargate SG-1 cast members: Ben Browder, Amanda Tapping, Chris Judge, Claudia Black, with Beau Bridges and Michael Shanks.

Amanda Tapping Dives into 'Atlantis' February 20, 2007 (General)
The Stargate legacy continues to burn bright on SCI FI. As the countdown to the final ten episodes of Stargate SG-1 commences, the Channel prepares for the launch of an all-new fourth season of Stargate Atlantis this fall. SG-1’s Amanda Tapping will travel to the Pegasus galaxy to join the Atlantis cast and reprise her role as television’s favorite astrophysicist, Lt. Colonel Samantha Carter.
Atlantis fans can also look forward to the return of Jewel Staite (Firefly, Serenity). She will appear in eight episodes, reprising her role as Dr. Keller, a physician who joins the Atlantis expedition. Staite previously appeared on the series as Ellia, the Wraith child who was transformed into a human in the season 2 episode, “Instinct.” Taking the torch from SG-1 as television’s most thrilling adventure series, Atlantis, slated to begin production in Vancouver next month, promises to up the ante this season by introducing a powerful new race, welcoming new cast members and mourning the loss of some beloved friends. For ten seasons, Tapping starred on Stargate SG-1 as the intelligent and beautiful Samantha Carter. Her combination of Gate expertise, in-depth scientific knowledge and military training made her a critical member of SG-1. She will need to draw upon all these resources as she assumes her new role on Atlantis. Tapping will appear in 14 of the season’s 20 episodes.

Michael Shanks launches blog
Thursday - May 17, 2007 | by Darren Sumner Source: Gateworld.net Stargate SG-1 co-star Michael Shanks has launched a new weekly blog, now online at TVGuide.com!
In the blog the actor talks about Stargate, his recent work on 24, hockey, and his views on life and the world in general.
In the latest entry, Shanks writes about this week's new episode of SG-1, "Bad Guys."
"The episode ... not one of my favorites," Shanks confessed. "Shooting it was great, as one of the highlights was actually working (for a change) with my co-star, Ben Browder. We often joke that for some reason, since he joined the show, we haven't been allowed in the same room, let alone the same scene together. We enjoy working with each other, and this is one of the few times we have been allowed to interact on any level. This trend, unfortunately, proved fleeting, because in the movies we are shooting, more of the same."
The actor also noted that some scenes cut from the episode went a long way to explaining Daniel's treatment of the hostages SG-1 is forced to take inside an alien museum. "I do know that there is something like 22 extra minutes of the episode that ended up on the cutting room floor. That's amazing, given a 44-minute delivery time. However, in my opinion, it weakens the overall impact of the episode. It seems to vacillate between being serious and/or comedic in a very strange way.
"And, for the first time in a while, I can honestly say that it renders my performance appalling. Note that when Daniel goes off the deep end to the hostages -- something completely out of his character and purposely meant as such -- there is a missing scene in between there that helped to make the outburst a little more sensible. I'm not making any apologies or passing blame, but the inclusion of that would have made it all jive more. Such is the nature of episodic television."
"On a separate note," he said, "this was also the episode which, when we were filming, we found out that we had been cancelled."
Visit TVGuide.com for more from Michael Shanks! New episodes of Stargate SG-1 air Fridays at 8 p.m. Eastern/Pacific on SCI FI Channel.

I just watched it last night and it was very good!!! Definitely what you'd expect from an SG1 episode/movie. It even had General Hammond in it. (Must have been his last appearance before he died..)

I rented Stargate Continuum last night and it was really good. Very good story line and very suspenseful. The original cast was in it and the new cast. I've always thought that Goa'uld were the best adversaries.
