Skyler As Skyler and Killjoy covered the men in Security Uniforms, Kaylib eased back into the closet and was trying to open a hatch into the access tunnels. Major Brie was attempting to talk to the men, trying to avoid a deadly fire fight. Skyler knew that between him and Killjoy, they could take the men out, not a problem, but could it be done before one of them drew and fired? He couldn’t take a chance on a blast hitting Brie, or the new Ensign.
A few centons earlier, back in the security offices, Lt. Proteus had just returned from a crawlon sweep of another deck. He checked over the incoming board, and noticed Major Brie’s comm traffic. Something didn’t add up to him. He placed a call to Capt. Urdea right away, he would be able to confirm his feelings about this.
Captain Urdea listened to his trusted Lt. He considered his options for a micron. "Lt., I want you to gather up your men, and head that way. If the Major and her Warriors have stumbled onto something, they may want some back up. Tell her I will be there in a few centons. She knows I trust you, so she won’t worry that anymore of us "Blackshirts" are ambushing Warriors again."
"Yes Sir!" Proteus snapped into action. He stepped towards the door which opened to reveal his squad of men that were waiting in the outer office just in case there was another assignment after their bug squashing mission they were on. He simply said "Level 5, Major Brie and Captain Skyler, possible trouble." They drew and checked their blasters, and fell in behind the Lt. in a quicktime pace, just short of a run.
"Is there something I can do for you gentlemen?" Brie asked, trying to keep everything under some sort of control. She knew from experience that if any of the men in front of them made a move, Skyler could drop two of them before they knew he had fired his blaster. Not knowing how proficient Killjoy was with a blaster......she prayed it wouldn’t come to that. How could she explain to Batgirl how she got one of her brand new ensigns wasted his first day out. How would she explain to Mara if Skyler got hurt? What if she got the man who saved her husband killed, how would she feel? Then out of nowhere, another strange thought hit her, one she never considered before, how would Skyler and Killjoy feel if she got hurt? She wasn’t sure about Killjoy, but she knew Skyler would take it hard. She had witnessed that first hand after the fake death she and Amy had to put on. And if he blamed himself for it. No this had to end with out bloodshed.
A new noise caused the men to turn their attention. Someone was coming their way.. a lot of someone's. It sounded almost like a Security Detachment. A real, complete, entire detachment. The only sound at that moment that could have been better would have been a Detachment of Warriors, but this she would take.
The fake blackshirts had a panicked look wash over them. Thinking quickly Brie acted.
"Guys, I am not sure what you are doing here, who you really are, or what role you have played with that pile of junk in this room, but that sounds like a Security detail heading this way, and that means somewhere around 15 to 17 Security Officers. I am not sure how they would react to finding you in uniforms from their officers, but I know how my warriors would react, and I hope you have proper ID so the med staff won’t have problems notifying your next of kin."
The blackshirts glanced quickly around. The nice thing about their position, is they had the Warriors trapped. Sure a few of them would take hits, but the Warriors would fare worse, the bad thing is, the approaching Security detail had their exit cut off, and between 3 Warriors, and a dozen plus Security Officers, they knew they would not stand a chance. The youngest of the group threw his hands up and moved towards Brie, "I give up, I will talk, just don’t let the blackshirts kill me. It was all his idea..." Almost before he could point at the leader of the group, the one with the load mouth pulled his blaster and aimed at the back of the young man, a blast sounded, and a bright flash filled Brie’s vision, when the spots cleared, the loud mouth leader lay on his side clutching his hand, his blaster was some distance away, what little remained of the smoking weapon, Proteus and his detachment had everyone one covered. Killjoy had stepped to the front and had the young informer in his custody. A low whistle sounded and Brie turned to see Kaylib standing behind her. "Some fancy shooting there Capt., haven’t seen anything like that since those old movies they used to show on the IFN, just knocked that blaster right out of his hand, one shot. Bam!. Oh, Major, I got the hatch opened, but I don’t think we will need it now, do you?"
Brie smiled "No Kaylib, looks like everything will be okay." * * * Killjoy Killjoy slammed the approaching young man's face first into the wall, and then he heard the shot. Holding the boy against the wall with the muzzle of his blaster in his left hand, he reached down and took the prisoners weapon into his right hand and pointed it back down the corridor. Seems the Captain had taken care of the big mouth and help came around the corner just in time. All was under control for the moment.
Without even looking his way the Major gave a shout." Killjoy, lock him down!"
"Yes Ma'am!" he returned as he placed the weapon he had taken from the boy into his own empty holster.
Killjoy stepped back a bit and pointed to the junk filled room. "Inside….Now!"
The boy moved into the room, with Killjoy right behind. Wanting to put a little distance between himself and the boy, he pointed to the corner. "Stand over there." The boy moved into that spot, and Killjoy now slightly lowered his weapon.
The boy started to speak, "That fly-boy out there is quite a shot, guess he thinks"…..
His words were halted when the Ensign's fist came into contact with his jaw. Killjoy grabbed him by the collar and pulled him from the floor. "That fly -boy is a Captain, and that Captain just saved you sorry hide. Don’t make me spoil it by breaking you neck!"
"Ensign what the hell is going on?" The Major entered the room.
"Not much Major, Just educating our new friend here on the finer points of military etiquette. He replied. "I think he has the hang of it now."
The Major noticed the trace of blood on the young man's chin. "Well Ensign, If your done with your lesson I have a few questions for him."
"Oh, yes Ma'am, I think were done now." Killjoy released the collar but kept a hold of the boy's arm.
Brie looked hard at the fellow. "Let just cut to the chase here, What is all this junk and why is it here?"
The boy just looked of into space.
The Major repeated the question…. Again no response. Killjoy was becoming very annoyed, as were Brie and Skyler.
"Very well," said the Major. " Who is in charge of this little operation of yours.
The boy looked down and spat blood near the Major's boot, and took a swing at her, driving Killjoy to react. He pushed the boy into the wall hard enough to knock the breath from him, Then raised his weapon, placed the muzzle right against the boy's nose and pushed his head back into the wall with it.
"Killjoy!" it was Skyler.
"No problem sir, I'm good, I won't shoot him just yet." Killjoy looked right into the boy's eyes. " I just want to let him know what a bad day the three of us have had, and how much his co-operation would help us change that. All he has to do is answer the pretty lady's questions and then we'll find him a nice cozy cell to play in. But, if he wants to pull another stunt like that, well I'll just have to use this blaster to burn an impression of his skull into this bulk-head."
Killjoy paused for a few moments to let the boy ponder his situation, then spoke again.
"Well, what's it going to be buddy. Ya going to play nice or do I make your head a permanent fixture on the Callisto's wall?"
"Major I'll tell ya anything you want, Just get this guy away from me. Please call him off, he crazy!" the boy was in tears.
"Release him Ensign, Now!" the Major ordered.
"Yes Major," Killjoy said as he moved back and handed the extra weapon to the Captain as the two walked a few meters away. Skyler took the weapon and gave it a look. Killjoy had set the safety before his little "demonstration."
"Well I'll be"…Skyler started but Killjoy cut him off
"Hey Sir I wanted to scare the little bugger, not hurt him." * * * Brie Through the questioning of the young man, it was discovered that the group had been planning on building a transmitter, just as Kaylib had said. They were going to hide it in the Callisto’s boiler room, inside a worker droid. They had decided that the Callisto was doomed, and they were going to try to contact the Cylons, to give them the position of the battlestar and possibly even the fleet. It turned out that they had grown up on stories about Baltar and how he was given his own basestar to command. He was their idol. They believed that the Cylons could be “merciful” if they were to help them.
The men were all captured by the Security forces and arrested immediately. Upon further investigation, several Black Shirts were found bound and gagged, hidden in a closet. They were hungry and dehydrated, so they were sent to the med lab for fluids and a checkup, but they were not seriously hurt.
Collie's body was sent to the morgue for an autopsy followed by a proper funeral service.
Returning to her quarters after a very long day, Major Brie looked up Kaylib’s military record on her computer. Seeing Turner’s name listed among the people he saved at Carillon almost brought a tear to her eye. She noticed that Kaylib hadn’t received any special recognition for his heroics that day so many yarhens earlier. She decided to rectify that as soon as they rejoined the fleet.
But for now, she had a report that she needed to file. She hoped that all the men would plead guilty to whatever they were charged with, she hated the idea of testifying in front of another tribunal. * * * Killjoy Killjoy made his way back to his bunk and was pleased to find things were quiet in the Black Squadron quarters. As he settled in he thought of old Kaylib, and couldnt help but smile. That fellow had more fight in him than most men half his age, and with his past Killjoy felt honored to know him. However he also wondered how meeting the old Warrior had affected Major Brie. She is a fine officer but to not know where her husband was and to meet a man who once knew him had to take its toll on her. As he tried force himself to sleep he remembered the comment Kaylib had made about him being "just like his father'" and made a mental note to ask him about it next time he saw him. He also thought about his outburts with the young man in the compartment, and the gun play he used to convince him to speak up. Major Brie came down on him pretty hard for it at the time, but the small grin she gave at the end of her speech let him know that nothing serious would come of it. Captian Skyler on the other hand seemed very pleased with Killjoy's abrupt ending to the boys swing at the Major. Although he didnt approve of the methods, he has made it known that you protect the "Boss" at all cost. As he rolled over to get confortable, an un-welcome sound came to his ear. "Bridge to Ensign Killjoy." The voice was tthat of Geenie from flight Ops. "Just wanted to inform you that you have been place on the schedual for a short range patrol at 0600. You'll need to be in the launch bay about 0545 to meet with your ground crew and get your Viper ready. Good luck Ensign. Bridge out. "Killjoy to bridge, aknowledged"

Skyler Brie and Skyler talked as they worked their way back to the barracks. It had been a strange couple of cycles. After leaving Brie at her quarters he decided he was going to take a long turbo shower, and put on a clean uniform. His mind drifted from one thought to another. Fatigue was starting to take its toll. He didn't know how many shifts had passed since he had last slept, or eaten. Yes, a turbo shower, then a meal. Maybe Mara could join him. He hadn't had chance to speak to her since before all this had happened. He knew she was with a group from Gold Squadron helping get the hydroponics bay back in operation. It would be good to see her again. She was his one normal thing in all of this mess.
After his turboshower, he noticed a note on his bunk. Shaking his head, he picked it up, expecting to see a new assignment listed. Instead he got a surprise he never expected.
Skyler,
I do not know where to begin. I care for you a lot, but I do not know what to do. I figured you don't care anymore. I have come to the realization that we will never be sealed. I feel we are being kept apart. You are always being sent on mission after mission. I do not know if it is your doing, or if someone is doing it to keep us apart, but it has made me see that we will never be together. I might one day change my mind, but until then I think it best if we stop seeing each other. It will be less painful on both of us in the long run I will never stopped caring. I feel like all I am doing is whining so I will end this letter now. I do miss you and will always love you. Never forget that. Please do not come looking for me, my mind is made up. I do not want to be hurt anymore than I already am, so please respect my wishes. We can still work together as fellow Warriors, and hopefully remain friends.
Mara
Skyler dropped to his bunk in a daze, not sure what to do next. Maybe it was a nightmare. He had to go see her, that was all there was to it. Skyler left the Barracks looking for Mara. As he rounded the corner heading to the female barracks, he saw Captain Kris. She had a look on her face that meant something was wrong. She blocked the corridor so he couldn't pass with out going through her..
"Skyler, forget it, she said it is over. She says you put being a Warrior above her. She knows you both agreed that the Fleet came first, she just wasn't ready to live with it."
Skyler went to push past her, but Kris stopped him again.
"She isn't here. She took the first transport to the CQ. She volunteered to be transferred over there. She needs space. She needs time away from you. You need time away from her."
Skyler let the words sink in for a few Microns. Turning he headed down to the Infantry area of the ship. His old friend Sarge would know what to do. He was the closest thing to a father Skyler had. Finding the tough old Warrior sitting on a old ammo crate, sipping a flask of Grog, Skyler sat down. Sarge knew from the moment he saw Skyler that something was wrong with him, and he was 99% sure he knew what it was. He handed the note over, and Sarge glanced at it for a micron. He didn't need to look long. He had seen dozens, if not hundreds of these letters. Some young thing would turn the head of one of his troopers and then they would have a "relationship". When things got tough, and they felt ignored, they flew hot, and dumped the person on the other end. It didn't matter if the trooper was laying their necks on the line to defend the last hopes of human kind. It was the same, you never have anymore time for me. Or, I found someone else that cares more for me than you do, they are here for me. All that meant to the grizzly old grunt was he had another heart broken trooper to deal with.
"Skyler, buck up man. It might seem like the end of the universe, but it isn't. There are other girls. There will always be other girls."
"It isn't that Zeke, I thought she was the one. She was a Warrior, she understood how important our work is to the future of the fleet. I thought I knew her, and she does this to me. For what, not spending time with her. By the lords Zeke, I haven't had time to spend with myself. It has been one mission right after the other. Maybe I shouldn't have volunteered for some of them, but its my job, I am a Warrior, and if I could change what I am, the circumstances of all our lives won't allow me to. My entire adult life I have been a Warrior, and I will die a Warrior." pausing for the briefest micron "Hopeful a old gray retired Warrior, but a Warrior none the less. And this whole sealing thing. She talked about some big to-do on the Rising Star when we linked back up with the Fleet. Now she is ticked that we haven't been sealed yet. Last I looked out the observation ports, I didn't see the Rising Star, or the Fleet for that matter. I guess I should have taken the time to do a quick ceremony, but she never really expressed interest in it. I know I could have found time between flying Najinn back to the Callisto while crammed into that tiny compartment of my Viper, and fighting Cylons or clearing that asteroid field so the ship could jump, or hunting down Brie's killers, not that she really died, or tracking down that stupid crawlon thing they killed, or helping Brie with that pile of junk and those phony Blackshirts or the other stuff I have done that I can't remember." Skyler paused for a few microns, then looked at Zeke. The man sat, sipping his grog like it was just another cycle. He remembered the last time he had sat looking at Skyler like that. "I know Zeke, after the last one, I swore my life to the service, why did I forget that."
Zeke took another sip from his flask, passed it to Skyler and smiled. "You forgot it because you are young. Not as young as you were then when you were seeing Kellie, but you are still young. This is going to hurt, and you will carry it with you for yahrens to come, just like you do with Kellie."
"The difference is Kellie died, Mara left. If Kellie hadn't of died, I would have had this problem now."
"You do not know that. Kellie wasn't a Warrior. She would have grown tired of waiting for you to come home. Granted you were not a fly boy then, but she still would have tired of all the Apollo/Starbuck heroics you pulled. How many patrols did you volunteer for? How many times did you rush head first into places were angels feared to tread?"
Skyler sat, thinking about what Zeke had said. True Kellie wasn't a Warrior. She was just a civilian caught up in this stupid war. But she had been his entire life. She had loved him, and all of his flaws. She understood all the patrols he went on. She shared his dream of him becoming a Viper Pilot. She was proud of him. Then she died, a memory to painful for Skyler to remember, one he pushed out of his mind, one that faced him in his nightmares on more than one sleep cycle.
"Zeke, but this one is a Warrior, she knew the score when it started..."
"No, she told you she knew the score. She didn't expect you to be so dedicated to the Fleet. It is your life. All you ever talked about. You always saw yourself as a Warrior, a Viper Pilot, from the time you sat foot on that converted barge you called home. From the micron you first saw Apollo and Starbuck. Defending the Fleet, defending your friends and loved ones. One day dying in service to the Fleet, that is what you saw for yourself. You never saw yourself as a husband to anyone. Never imagined yourself as a father. I am not saying it is a bad thing. We all have our lot in life. Your dedication makes you more suited to the life you chose. Don't kick yourself over it. One day, if the Lords of Kobol wish it, you will find a girl that feels the same , and then we will be blessed with little Skyler's running around. Just give me advance warning so I can ship off this tub. One Skyler is enough for me."
Skyler sat, letting his friends words sink in. He was right, he was always right. Even though he did love Mara, his duty to the Fleet had to come first. If it meant he would be alone till he died that duty had to come first. He had friends, close friends, If he slacked in that duty for a micron, it could mean disaster. Lives depended on him being a Warrior and a damn good Warrior, and that meant he had to sacrifice a personal life, so be it.
"Old friend, you are a wealth of knowledge as always. I knew I could trust you to lead me right."
"Skyler, just remember, I have lived everything you have gone through or have yet to face . I am not wise or smart, I just have the scars, mentally and physically to know what you are going through. If you live long enough, one day you will be sitting on an old crate, drinking out of this very flask telling some young fly boy pretty much the same thing. Now, knowing you, you haven't eaten or slept in cycles, so get going."
"Thanks" was all Skyler said, as he stood up and left. On his way to the O-Club to grab a bite to eat he saw Geenie heading away from the bridge. He was glad he bumped in to her. He needed the company of friends right now
"Geenie, if you got a minute, I think I promised to pay back some of those IOU's you keep reminding me about. How about a drink and some food. My treat, in the O-Club."
Geenie smiled, and agreed to his offer. * * * Brie Even though she had been away from her quarters for only a few centars, Brie had several messages. One was a bit of a surprise, Captain Jorlan was looking for her. She forgot all about that, though, with the next two messages. The first one was a request for a transfer from Lt. Mara, who wanted out of Gold Squadron and was hoping for a position on the CQ. The second was a message from Mara herself.
Major Brie,
I have applied for a transfer. I do not want to go into a lot of details at this time, but I really need the time and distance from Skyler. I am sure you will understand. I promise I will explain later. Your sealing dress is in my locker in the barracks. Lt. Eden said she would get it back to you. Thank you for everything.
Lt. Marajade
Although she hated to lose Mara, she knew it was probably for the best. She had always had reservations about an engaged couple serving in the same squadron. A warrior had to put his or service to the fleet first, all other things second. Skyler knew that. Maybe Mara did too, which was why she had decided to serve elsewhere. With a great deal of sadness, Brie okayed the transfer. * * * Lucian Lucian stopped counting when he heard someone counting faster. Seeing the queen stop, he dived just as the explosion occurred. The force of the blast caught him just as he dived into the nearby intersecting ventilation duct. His legs slammed against the far side of the duct, causing him to wince in pain from the impact and heat. Looking down, he saw that his pants were on fire, so he rolled and then patted them to smother the flame. Coughing, he pressed the handheld computer keys and within moments, a blower was sucking the acrid smoke out of the system. He peered into the dissipating smoke, hoping that this was the end for the crawl-on monster.
* * *
Pieces of the crawl-on queen littered the ventilation duct. As the Warriors moved forward to check on Randrius, they heard a tapping sound over the hum of the ventilation fans.
* * *
She climbed down from the surface where she'd been blown. Many of her legs had been lost in the blast, and half of her eye-ring was damaged, but she could see by rotating unsteadily. With the pain shooting through her body, she advanced and saw biped lying on the ground. She smelled the warm blood, and she advanced to feast on it and put an end to these creatures that tormented her.

brotherjoe if anyone has any more packs, we could try to finish this thing off. all i have is the one in my pistol. if not, could someone cover me while i get randrius to the med bay? * * * Charybdis Screeching and explosions....
that was all that was coming across the portable comm unit that one of the Warriors had attached to their belt. They were in the midst of a mightly battle with one really mean crawlon. Major Lucian was right in the middle of it. I hoped that he would come out OK>
what a way to be taken out, by a nasty creature like that.
Meanwhile, we still had not found Amy. I had not heard from Brie for quite awhile again and I felt helpless on the bridge.
Just then, one of the bridge techs came up and announced that there was a visitor to see me. I wonder who could be coming around at this hour on the bridge since it was the overnight shift?
He announced the guest as Arien of the CQ. I immediately snapped to attention. "Let her in," I quickly replied.
From the far end of the bridge, Arien appeared and spotted me. As she walked over, I stood to greet her and I caressed her hand as I shook it gently.
"What do I owe this to?" I asked her.
"Well, with all the things going on around here, I figured the only time to talk to you was when things were a little quieter," she responded.
Though I knew better, afterall, we had people missing and some of our Warriors in a pitched battle with the crawlons, I didn't say anyting to Arien. Instead, I led her into the private war room as we both took a seat... * * * Randrius Randrius slowly emerged from the blanket of unconsiousness to the sound of te crawl-on queen unearthly screeching and some blaster fire. It hurt to move but is face was pointed towards the action. He fought his eyelids open and could only see one warrior, brotherjoe. He saw the queen, hurt badly but still fighting. 'My, we are fracking tough,' he thought blearily. He also processed other things, like shrapnel buried in the wall and a nearby leg of the queen. Something else caught his attention and he forced his unwilling arm to move.
******* Brotherjoe and Lucian were the only ones with cartridges left. Artus was doing what he could, serving as a distraction and trying to sneak over to Randrius. Stadia’s cartridge had run dry and she was feeling quite useless. The warrior's small arms fire appeared to be doing little but angering the queen, who was now in a frenzy of pain and rage. Suddenly a much larger shot rang and the queen was hit and droven backwards, two more shots rang out and then silence. The queen, now against the far wall was still moving, but little. The big rifile slip from Randrius' grasp as he slipped into unconsiousness once more. Three, long char streaks on the floor marked his shots. * * * Artus Slowly but surely Artus was getting closer to where Randrius was lying. He had to dodge the queen's appendages on numerous occasions, although her movement seemed to be getting less. Thinking of first things first he picked up Randrius' rifle and tossed it in the direction of Brotherjoe.
"You guys finish this felgercarb off, while I try to take Randrius to medbay!" he shouted over the shrieking and the blaster fire.
As Brotherjoe picked up the rifle, he shouted back; "Isn't that typically you. Making an enormous mess and expecting us to clean up after you!"
Artus gave him a lopsided smile as he took hold of Randrius and tried to make his way out of there.... * * * brotherjoe i grabbed the rifle and ejected the power pack from my pistol. "lords of cobol i hope this works". i tossed the pack towards the queen, but it moved away before i could get a shot off. so i took aim at the point where the remains of the eye ring and main body met, and fired off a couple of rounds. after the smoke cleared, the queen was barely alive, but could still slash with the remaining legs. * * * Lucian The second blast caught Lucian unaware, knocking him back against the side of the ventilation duct. Darkness dropped over his eyes as his laser pistol dropped from his hand.
RaycerX realized that Lucian was unconcious, so he pulled him back. The laser pistol was out of reach and the crawl-on queen was once again advancing toward them, swaying unsteadily on her remaining legs. One of her front legs was still being used as a scythe, and it was getting perilously close to the Major.
* * *
In his blackness, Lucian dreamed. He imagined days of unending work in a strange world he had never known. He saw himself working through a holiday and experiencing a number of near misses, but surviving. As the image faded, he saw another image take its place. There was a banquet hall with a large number of guests in formal attire. He imagined himself in charge of the event, giving orders to make sure that things went well for the leader of the unknown group holding the function. It seemed in his dream that everyone was having a wonderful time. Near the end, he saw himself being handled the symbol of office by the leader. The image was so scary that he shook himself from the dream and swam toward the light.
* * *
The queen saw one right in front of her. Injured as she was, she could now only think of striking out at these creatures that had harmed her and her children. With so few remaining legs, she could no longer jump like she once did, so she wobbled forward as fast as she could, preparing to end these creatures once and for all.
* * *
"Major, Major, Sir!" shouted RaycerX. "You're hung on something and that thing is coming!"
Lucian felt as if his leg was being pulled out of his hip socket. He looked down to see that his boot had become lodged in a gash in the base of the duct. The queen was only a meter away and she was swinging the one front leg toward him like a sword. He knew that he now had no weapon so he brought the other leg up and back down trying to free his left boot from the ragged metal edge. It was no use, so he attempted to pull his foot from the boot. In doing so, his other foot brushed something. As Lucian reached out, the crawl-on queen began her rush toward him. The queen used all her strength to launch herself at him. As she covered the short distance in the air, Lucian's hand closed on the missing laser pistol. He swung it up instinctively and fired just as her body impacted the end of the laser pistol. With her weakened shell, the blast found its mark and she exploded into pieces like organic shrapnel. The queen was no more.
A few centons later, several tired and injured Warriors crawled from the ventilation shaft.
"Sir, you need to get to the Med Lab," said RaycerX.
"Yeah," said Major Lucian, "probably, but I need to get to the turbowash more. Just look at us!"
"Don't think I want to look," said brotherjoe. "I imagine it wouldn't be pretty."
"You're right. Aw, screw it. Let's go get a drink. I'm buying!" The Major shook the Warriors' hands as they headed to find Lieutenant Osh and the temporary bar.

Lucian
"Commander Sheba, reports from all over the ship indicate that the crawl-on infestation is being eradicated," said Major Joey. "So far, we've received reports of three more fatalities. The missing Lieutenant Amy appears to have been found, and Major Lucian and his "bug extermination unit" had the misfortune to run into Doc BKJ who ordered them all to the Med Lab for tests for concussions and other maladies related to their fight with that giant crawl-on thing. They'd just poured drinks from Lieutenant Osh's portable bar, and Doc made them put them back for fear that the alcohol might not mix well with the 'damage' they'd sustained!" She smiled at the thought, and Commander Sheba, controlling her urge to laugh, broke a smile as well.
"Any news on the CQ?" Sheba asked.
"Yes, Ma'am," reported Joey. "Lieutenant Titon reports that the ship, with the exception of weapons, is fully operational. Unfortunately, the weapons systems are a lost cause. We're going to have to reach the fleet to do anything about that problem. He's ready to turn over command to your chosen replacement and come back home."
"Speaking of command, is our guest here yet?"
"Yes, Ma'am. He's been doing some training on the navigation system while he was waiting for you."
Sheba nodded. Warriors rarely sat around. There was always something to learn, something to practice, or something of the opposite sex to catch when there weren't Cylons or other enemies around. "See him into my war room," she said.
Twelve centons later, Captain Lazant exited her war room and marched off the Bridge. Major Joey approached Sheba and asked, "Commander, how soon will he be going to the CQ?"
Sheba cocked her head slightly looking at the Captain's back as he went out the door. "The Captain is a Warrior through and through Major, just as I suspected. When given the opportunity to advance in rank aboard a civilian ship, even when faced with the probability that he will never see another promotion as a Warrior, he took less than a centon to make his decision. His comment was, 'Better a Captain serving and protecting our people than a Commander serving oneself.' Captain Lazant won't be leaving his post aboard the Callisto."
"Then who will command the Caprican Questar, Commander?" asked Lieutenant Aegina, who had just joined the group.
"That, Lieutenant, is the question of the centar. Issue orders for those are to be placed on the CQ to prepare to depart in two centars. We'll have a commanding officer in place before they arrive." * * * Sheba sometimes didn't like the job she had to do, but it was hers, and she did it. This was one of those times. "Lieutenant Aegina, I need you to have someone come to the Bridge immediately," she said, handing her the file. The decision was made.
* * *
A short time later...
“Commander, you know this is not what I want,” he said in a measured voice. “My place is as a Warrior. I was by your side in more battles than I care to remember, and you know I can out fly just about anyone on this ship. Now you want me to just turn over my Viper to someone else?”
“Not what I want, my friend, but based on this,” she said, patting the report, “it’s what you must do.”
She thought about the report that had arrived about a secton earlier, and the unpleasant task she had performed at that time. Grounding a Warrior, particularly one with many yahrens of experience was always difficult, but this was even worse. He had been her wing on more occasions than she could even remember, but according to Jarrynn’s tests, that no longer mattered. His eyesight had deteriorated to the point that it was no longer safe for him to be flying, and the corrective surgery had resulted in crazing of the lens. He saw halos of light, which in battle with the Cylons could mean instant death.
He bowed his head, consenting to the transfer. “I’ve always been a Warrior, and would prefer to remain a Warrior,” said Captain Buellah, leader of Silver Spar Squadron, “but you are in command, and I will follow orders as always.”
“I know you will, my friend,” Sheba said. “Since the CQ technically has the capability of being armed, even though it has no significant weaponry at the moment, you will be promoted to the rank of Major as a Warrior, and placed in command of the CQ. Will you inform Silver Spar Squadron of your departure?”
“I will call a meeting immediately,” Buellah said.
* * *
Fifty centons later, Major Buellah had packed his things, and was on his way to the shuttle to the CQ. As he left his room, he was surprised to find Jorlon about to enter. The two men shook hands and Buellah said, “Major Jorlon, please take good care of our squadron.”
Jorlon placed his bag on the bed and said, “I will, Sir, and Major Buellah, please take good care of those of my people aboard the CQ.”
“I will, Major. I will.”
After Buellah was gone, Jorlon quickly unpacked in his new quarters. As the new leader of Silver Spar Squadron, he had a lot to do, but since the Lords were smiling on him, he decided first go see Major Brie to give her the “good” news as soon as the Callisto entered the jump. * * * Stargazor The Court martial of Stargazor.
Stargazor was out of the med. lab and walked to the Lt. Col. Charybdis to take whatever punishment they decided on giving him. On his way to the Bridge he passed a lot of people who served on the Callisto. They wore looking strangely at him some even avoided him by, taking a different corridor to avoid him. But Ensign Stargazor didn’t take it hard he was determent to fly a viper again and for that he would go trough hell and back.
He new that the changes in his body are making people afraid for him. But he hopped that he could convince the Black squadron warrior to accept him as one of them again and become a crew member again of the Callisto.
He can’t remember the past only fragments so decided to start a new life and an new beginning. (His skills as a pilot are coming to him as natural). * * * Randrius Randrius woke up groggily, staring at the off-white ceiling of the med-lab. He briefly wondered were in the hell he was before his brain jump-started and filled him in. After he knew where he was, he began to notice other things, such as the searing pain in his leg. The other must have gotten the queen if he was laying here. He tried to sit up and his body quickly and not-so-gently informed him that was a mistake. Holodoc spotted him trying to get up, "Oh, no you don't. Lay back down Lieutenant." "But..." Randrius sputtered. "No." The finality in her voice told him he should lie down again, so did his body. Holodoc came over to the side of his bed a few minutes later. "OK, Randrius. The lower part of your leg in unsalvageable, we can save the rest of the leg. You will need a prosthetic." "So, from the knee down?" Holodoc gave a sympathetic look, "Afraid so." * * * Artus Artus was waiting outside med-lab as he saw holodoc coming from the door. He quickly stood up, for wich he was reminded by a sharp pain on his back where the crawl-on queen had slashed him. But he wasn't going to let that stop him. "How is he?" he asked holodoc. She looked grimly. "He's awake," she sighed, but quickly added as she saw Artus head for the door;" but I don't want you to go see him just yet. He needs his rest."
Artus stopped where he stood.
"But I feel responsible for what happened to him...."
Holodoc sighed; "I know you do, ensign" * * * Randrius The procedure took several hours. The actual amputation was swift, but the tedious work of attaching nerves to electrodes and mounting the leg took most of the time. Randrius awoke again, and immediately noticed the lack of pain. He groggily looked down to where his leg should be and saw only a metallic replacement. He had known about it, but nothing could prepare him for the actual relization that a part of him was actually gone, lost forever. Holodoc walked in several minutes later. She asked him several question and instructed him to move the new limb in various ways. After fifteen minutes of this, he was finally able to leave. He stepped into the waiting room, less of him walking out than had walked in.

Lucian On seeing his face, Holodoc had to do, or say something. Knowing there was little she could say herself, she had put in a call.
* * *
With the prisoners safely out of the way and Lieutenant Proteus on duty, Captain Urdea headed to the Med Lab as a special favor to his good friend Holodoc. When he arrived, he took her hand and gave her a squeeze since she looked quite sad.
"'Doc, it's tough losing part of yourself, but when you're going through it, you've always got to remember that you're alive. You can't ever forget that. Randrius will learn that, if he doesn't realize it already. You med-types can replace body parts, pretty darn well, if I say so myself, and though he'll always miss that leg, I suspect that he'll go on without too much trouble. If his head doesn't mess him up like mine once did, he'll even be able to fly again soon. I don't want to bother him now, but please let him know that if he needs to talk about it, I'm available."
She nodded and Urdea said, "Say, want to get some tea? The O-Club is reopening and I hear that new stuff they brought aboard actually tastes a little like tea, anyway." * * * Holodoc Holodoc smiles a little at Urdea when he suggests going to the O'Club for some tea. She knew that she needed to get out of MedLab for awhile for it seemed like she had been more or less living there lately taking care of all the patients she & Jarryn had received over the last few cycles to tend to for various illnesses & injuries. Now that things had finally calmed down & there were now only a couple of patients left in MedLab, Holodoc thought it would be good to get out of there for a little while. She knew that if she was needed someone would get in trouch with her.
"Sounds like a good idea Urdea," Holodoc says, "I am in need of a break from things even if only for a short while. I have more or less been going nonstop over the last few cycles with very little sleep or time alone to relax or spend some time with Anubis. Maybe now that things are starting to settle down some I can get some time to relax, catch up on sleep, & spend some needed time with Anubis." * * * Charybdis Arien sat across from my chair in the war room. It was quiet there. A bit dark from the low light conditions of the off-centar shift.
"Has the Commander made any decision about the CQ?" she asked.
"I haven't heard anything yet. It must be hard for your people to just let go of everything you had for the last yahrens," I responded.
She shook her head. "Some will, mostly those who thought they were in charge. But, some just want it all to end. They wouldn't mind someone else taking the reins for awhile, so to speak. We've been running so long."
She looked a bit tired. After all they went through. A single ship all alone for that many yahrens against the whole of the universe and the Cylon empire.
"What was it like? I mean from the beginning," I wanted to know.
Arien's gaze went to a far corner of the room. "Our whole world had ended, in one big flash. What few people crowded onto the ship from the spaceport...grabbed what they could without any thought of what would lay ahead...we lost several right away from injuries. I was young, very young. I was shielded from a lot of what happened in the beginning. But we made do. Stopped quite a bit at first on any planet, just to feel the ground, get water, food. We picked up a few stragglers who had been stranded on remote outposts, but eventually, they dwindled as we headed further out into the unknown. We had no idea where to go or what to do. Some of our early leaders wanted to stop and settle, but the majority didn't want to stop. They feared the Cylons coming after us. We ran into quite a few of them over the yahrens and we were determined to keep going until we outran them all or we starved to death..." she looked away and a tear began forming in her eye.
I could only think what a harrowing exerience to live through. But, that was just it, she had lived. They had made it this far, finally to come across the remnants of their people again.
"You said before that you were from Caprica. What do you remember about living there?" I asked.
Her eyes widened a bit and a small smile came across her face. "As I said, I was very young. My family lived on the outskirts of Caprica City. I had two brothers who I would play with all the time. They were older than me. I remember that time fondly, what memories I do have." She seemed lost in her thoughts.
"Arien, what do you remember from that last night?" I carefully asked her this question. I wasn't sure how she would react, bringing up painful memories.
She grew sad again. She spoke slowly and softly, but deliberately. "I remember watching the holovid with my family. Something about peace with the Cylons. I didn't really understand it then. It's all just images now. Except for those horrible sounds when the Cylon fighters swept overhead. The screams I heard from all around us and our house as the bombs hit nearby. I could feel them shake the house. All I remember is that I was really afraid. I clung to my mother and my father came in yelling for us that we had to leave. He told us to get one belonging from our rooms and I quickly went to my room to get a doll that was my favorite. Then, just white light..." she seemed to be reliving it all over again. I had to know, I needed to know...it was all making sense.
She continued, "Next thing I remember there was a man holding me in his arms. We were at the spacedrome. People were running everywhere. I wanted my family but they were gone. The man was one of my neighbors. He told me that a bomb had hit our house and destroyed everything and everyone in it." The tears started flowing, but she kept compusure. "He said that he found me under some rubble. I was still alive and breathing so he took me with him. He cared for me as his own for the first few yahrens aboard the CQ. But, eventually he grew ill and died after about 7 yahrens into our journey. So I was orphaned a second time..." the tears rolled more freely as she contemplated her life.
I was awestruck. The whole thing came rushing back like a tidal wave into my consciousness.
"Arien," I spoke softly. She hardly heard me. It was then that I noticed it. She had pulled a small item out of the pocket of her crude dress. It was a small doll with torn hair and a dress full of holes that had been patched up many times. It barely fit into her hand; it was no doubt the doll that was her prize possession from her childhood. Her one link to her past...
I saw the doll and without reservation, I blurted out, "Gizelle." Arien quickly looked up at me in total surprise. She had heard me and what I had said.
"How did you know that was my doll's name?" she asked incredulously. She had never told me about it nor shown it to me. "No one onboard the Callisto knew about such a personal item."
"Arien, that night of the destruction. I was with my family watching the holovid too. I had a brother and a younger sister. My father came and told us to get one belonging because we had to leave..." her eyes were staring into mine. Not realizing what I was saying. I didn't quite believe it myself. But I had to keep going...
"I ran outside with my father and mother while my brother and sister grabbed some belonging and that is when the bomb hit our house. It was all destroyed..." I was getting worked up. Arien kept staring at me not knowing what I was saying...
And then, I blurted it out, "My father was Charydin who worked at the Eastern spacedock. My brother's name was Taj and my sister's name was..."
"Arien," she finished for me. I grabbed her by the arms and leaned in closer to her. "Yes, Arien, I now know that I am Charybdis, your brother!!!!"
We stared at each other as if we had seen a ghost. Then, as quickly as the craziness of the situation took hold, it was gone and we fell into each other's arms and hugged each other for 24 yahrens that had been lost.
We cried like babies and pawed at each other as we realized fully that we had each other again. My baby sister was alive!!!! * * * Arien was sobbing as she clutched me. "But how?" she cried.
"We thought everyone was dead. There was nothing left. We were under attack. So father and mother took me to the spacedrome where we ran into Uncle Charybdis. He secured passage for us on one of the better ships of the fleet. And that's how we have survived all these years. We thought that you and Taj were gone." I explained as best I could.
"And I thought you were all dead," Arien continued. "But, wait, you said father and mother took you. Where are they? Did they survive?" she asked.
A smile crossed my face, "Yes! Yes, they are alive and well aboard one of the medical ships. Mother was a teacher up until a few yahrens ago and father is now a chemist helping turn plant life into valuable medicines for the fleet. As soon as we return to the fleet, you can see them. We can all be together again!!"
"I dont' believe it, Charybdis." She caressed my face. I knew it! I knew that there was something about her from the very first moment I laid eyes on her. I heard her name and couldn't believe that fate could have brought somebody across my path with the same name as my sister, but here she was alive and well. My sister had been brought back from the dead!
Then she asked in desperation, "What about Taj? If you survived maybe he did too?"
"No. We have never heard from him. We assumed he was killed in the blast. But then again, here you are, so I guess anything's possible, but highly unlikely."
"Charybdis. Charybdis," she kept saying over and over again. Just as she had been brought back from the dead to me, I was brought back to her as well. From being an orphan for almost all her life, Arien had just found out that she had a brother and both of her parents back in her life once again.
As I hugged her, I said a short prayer of thanks to the Lords of Kobol, for only they could have provided such a miracle of miracles… * * * We couldn't believe it. It was impossible. Yet, here we were again, reunited after last seeing each other that fateful night in our family home 24 yahrens ago.
"We have to tell the Commander. She has to know," I told Arien.
"Alright, I agree. But, Charybdis, I think it best for most people onboard that we keep this relatively quiet, until the time is right. Some of the people from the CQ might not like this turn of events, even though it is good news for us."
I couldn't quite make out the need to keep things quiet, but I could see how it complicated a few things. After all, Arien was a leader from their group, if all of a sudden she pops up as the sister of the Callisto's 2nd in command, they might think she was playing favorites.
I stood up and took her by the hand. We walked arm in arm out onto the bridge…

Stargazor I walked further on the Bridge to find Lt. Col. Charybdis. He was with a woman i didn’t know.
I immediately went to attention and said : Stargazor “Sir, reporting in, sir”!
The Lt. Col. Looked a bit strange over to me. Then he remembered that i was Ensign Stargazor, but also noticed the white in my eyes was turned blue.
Stargazor "Sir, i dont remember much about my past but, i know from what they tell me i did wrong" "Thats why im here sir, to face the charges and punnishment"! * * * Ensign Stargazor looked a bit different. It's as if he was wearing some sort of colored eye lenses. I wondered if he had caught some sort of horrible disease. That would be the last thing we needed. Stargazor appeared in front of me asking about punishment.
"Ensign, now is not the time for this. Anyway, your squadron CO will file the proper report to see what's in store for you. For now, I recommend getting back to your bunk or Med Lab to be checked out. Dismissed."
Ensign Stargazor saluted and walked off dejectedly. I think he wanted to get this over with, but as with all military punishment matters, things take time. Besides, his squadron CO would have to file the appropriate charges and report and bring him up on formal charges of insubordination… * * * "Last shuttle to the Caprican Questar prior to the jump will be departing in five centons," was the announcement over the Callisto's comm system.
A Tech cleaning dead crawl-ons from the bulkhead parroted, "Personnel assigned to the CQ who are not aboard that shuttle will be held in confinement by their toes until we emerge in whatever Lords-forsaken system we come out in." The other Techs howled with laughter at the imitation.
Arien made her way to the launch bay. She'd hoped to speak with Charybdis a little more, but if he was dealing with ship’s business...well, he was an officer, so she'd wait until they arrived in the next system. She'd found her brother again, and she wasn't planning to lose him again.
* * *
On the CQ, the last shuttle to the Callisto departed. Lieutenant Titon had shook Buellah's hand as he'd turned over command of the ship to the silver-haired man. Titon wondered why the Warrior would have taken command of an unarmed ship, though the stories of Buellah's exploits, even in unarmed vessels, against the Cylons was almost legendary. He looked back at the CQ one more time, then looked toward the Callisto. It was good to be going home again.
* * *
Commander Sheba said, "As soon as those two shuttles are aboard their respective ships, we go for the jump. If all goes well, we just might catch up to the fleet."
Major Lucian, who had just arrived back on the bridge, heard the comment. MIGHT, he thought, ranked right up there with IF on the word power scale. He hoped she was right.
"Last shuttle for the Caprican Questar departs in one centon." * * * Artus After his failed attempt to visit Randrius in med-bay Artus had just been wandering around the Callisto in a daze. The fight with the crawl-on queen had been his first taste of actual, not simulated combat, and the whole experience had left him in a state of shock. For some reason he had always thought his baptism of fire would be in a viper. In the coldness of space things would have been so much less 'personal'. But here he had been. The blood, the screams and the pain. All real. And it wasn't like he wasn't able to deal with it. Not that. No, he had handled himself just fine under fire. It was just the realisation of what had happened.
Artus looked around and suddenly realised he wasn't quite sure what part of the ship he was in.... * * * Lucian Almost four sectars later, well into a very long jump…. She read the note for about the tenth time tonight, and for about the 1,000th time in the last four sectars. He'd left the instructions "in case the Callisto became lost or completely separated from the fleet" never dreaming that this would actually happen and that it would take so long to catch them. Even now, it had taken some extremely precise calculations to allow the Callisto, accompanied by the CQ, to make such a jump. They'd passed near a type III quasar on the way which had distorted their readings, but since astronavigation had taken that into account prior to the jump, they still appeared to be on course. The jump would end in a couple of cycles and she would find out if she was just behind or utterly lost.
Sheba had been somewhat moody, for a Battlestar Commander anyway, in recent sectons, knowing that if this strategy failed, it might be yahrens before the fleet was discovered again. If the Cylons had succeeded in tracking the fleet as well as the Callisto, Apollo might have had to make unexpected course changes in an attempt to lose them, and the fleet might be far from where those aboard the Callisto expected to find it. She had tried to keep this from showing in her day to day duties, but many of those on the Bridge knew something was wrong. She'd had several conversations with Lieutenant Colonel Charybdis about the possiblity that they would not find the fleet, but in all of those, she had tried to present a good front, not letting him know the real possibility that they would not find it in this new system, that they might never find it. Of course, Charybdis was a smart man, so she knew that he understood the real situation, but she trusted him not to tell others. Unfortunately, there were many others in their minature fleet that were also incredibly smart, and some of them were not so circumspect with their theories...or opinions.
* * *
"I tell you, we'll never get out of this jump! And even if we do, we'll never find the fleet," shouted the Tech. Several other men and women were jeering as well, and only Lieutenant Winnie's armed Fleet Security Officers stood between peace and a riot. She spoke with them, calming them, and telling them to go back to work. Soon, peace prevailed, but for how long?
* * *
After receiving the report from Captain Urdea, Sheba studied the report from Astro-Navigation. Long range observation had verified what had long been known and what had been thought. The Blasanick System was centered around a very large red giant. Only a few rocky planets circled the star, since the inner planets that might have supported life had long ago been engulfed in the star's expansion or burned clean by the radiation emitted by the giant. The Callisto would stay well clear of the star Blasanick, sticking close to that extreme outer planet. Hopefully, the fleet would be there, but if not, she trusted that the package would. If it was not, today's little incident would be the first of many. * * * JustinB After sleeping for a cycle and a half, I woke up refreshed. I climbed out of bed and put on my gym gear and proceeded to the gym. After lifting weights for thirty centons I headed out for a run. Now that the disc crawlons and their queen were all dead, I was left with an empty feeling.
I hadn't seen Rose much lately and I began to wonder if it had anything to do with that time we spent together a sectar earlier. Was it the fact that we got caught in the so to speak, or had she chosen to stay with Hawke. Whichever it was I would find her and ask her.
I passed Major BatGal's office, so I decided to pay her a visit. I knocked as I went in but she was not there. On her desk there was a file that I took interest in. It was that of new member of Black Squadron, an Ensign Killjoy. I read it briefly then placed it back on the desk and made my way back to barracks.
After a relaxing turbo-wash I put on a fresh crisp uniform. After looking around the barracks and with no sign of the new Ensign, I headed to the launch bay. As I turned around the corner, someone bumped me. It was the new Ensign.
"Sorry Sir" He said standing at attention saluting,"I really didn't see you."
"It's alright Ensign Killjoy," I said with a little smirk, "just look where you are going next time." Seeing he looked surprised at me knowing his name I added, "I am Captain JustinB, Black Squadrons Third Officer. I have seen your file. If you are not busy please follow me."
We walked to the launch bay and he told me about himself. He watched as I checked out the Squadrons Vipers. After the inspection I turned to Ensign Killjoy and said, "Lets say we try and find the temporary O'Club that's supposed to exist."
"It sounds good to me sir," the Ensign said. As we walked my mind drifted back to Rose. 'If only we could be together' I thought to myself. * * * Randrius Randrius found his way to the O'club. The minute weight difference of the new prosthetic leg felt like a ton. "God, I need a drink," he muttered to himself as he settled into a chair in the O'club. He stared at the leg, still getting use to the utterly alien thing sitting where his own flesh should be. He sighed, if he had only gotten that air duct a fraction of a second sooner, this would have never happened. It was his own fault, he just hadn't been fast enough. Randrius wasn't so deep in thought that he didn't notice JustinB come into the O'club, with the new Ensign, what was his name? His brain matched name to face, Killjoy. He waved to JustinB, grateful to see a familiar face that didn't have a lab-coat.

Rose Rose had been staying busy in doing what she could when it had come to the crawlons. She was glad that they were finally gone and that things were starting to calm down for a little while at least. She needed the downtime to think about things and sort out a few things also. Rose knew that she was going to have to do something soon about her growing feelings for JustinB and how Hawke had been basically ignoring her and avoiding her lately. She still had feelings for him, but Rose knew that with the way things were going right now it would not work out between them since Hawke seemed to be the loner type and not open up to her about things that he was keeping bottled up inside of himself.
Rose headed off in search of Hawke so that she could confront him to see if she could get any answers and to also let him know that she didn't think that things were going to work out between them with the way that he was acting currently. She was tired of getting the silent treatment from him and was not going to stand for it any longer. Rose wanted to move on with her life and if that ment she had to break things off with Hawke and either be alone for the rest of her life on explore her feelings for JustinB then she was going to do just that.
Rose was searching in the lounge, weight room, and several other area's trying to find Hawke and wasn't having a lot of luck at the moment in trying to find him so that she could discuss things with him. She was about to give up on her search when she decided to check one other area to see if he was there and starts heading that way in search for Hawke. Rose just hoped that she would find him soon so that she wouldn't have to contend with a few things for to much longer for it was starting to stress her out some and she didn't need more stress added to her life at the moment that what she already had currently. Walking into the observation area that overlooked the landing bay for the Vipers, Rose finally finds Hawke. She walks over to him to see if he will notice her since he had yet to notice that she had come into the lounge so far.
Hawke, why are you avoiding me?, Rose asks when she walks up beside him. Hawke looks over at Rose and replies, "I am not avoiding you intentionally Rose. I have just been rather busy lately and haven't had time to be able to spend time with you like I having been wanting to do lately." Rose looks over at Hawke and just looks at him as though she was debating on if she was going to accept his answer or challenge him on it since he had told her basically the same thing before when she had a hard time trying to get some answers from him on a few things. "Hawke," Rose says, "I'm not so sure I can believe your answer any longer. Repeatedly I have asked you to open up to me and I have tried to be patient with you on giving me some answers, but my patience has worn thin when it comes to getting answers from you and wondering if you truely care for me or if you were just using me all along for your own needs. I will no longer stand idly by and in the background while you ignore me consistantly and don't answer my questions on certain things. So as of this moment, I am breaking things off with you. Should you come to your senses and want to open up to me and tell me what you are so unwilling to tell me at this very moment I will be willing to listen."
Rose turned to leave the observation lounge so that she could go in search of JustinB to see if he wanted to talk and get a drink. She was halfway to the door when Hawke comes over to her, grabs her arm to turn her around. When he grabs her arm, it causes Rose to turn towards Hawke and hitting him across his cheek. "Rose," Hawke pleades, "please understand. I just can't open up and tell you everything. I am still trying to sort a few things out myself and I don't want to burdon you with them. It is something that I have to do on my own. I know this is not something you want to hear, but I ask that you bear with me on this, PLEASE. I don't intentionally mean to ignore you or keep things from you, but it is something that has to be done at the moment." Rose looked at Hawke debating on what to say and then replies, "I'm sorry Hawke, but I have a hard time believing that right now. I have given you ample time to tell me what is going on and you have basically refused to do so with the way you have been acting and by not answering my questions. I need to move on with my life and I need someone that I can trust and depend on to be honest with me when I ask them a question."
Rose takes off running out of the observation lounge over looking the Viper landing bay just wanting to get away from Hawke right then. She wanted to put as much distance as she could between her and Hawke at that moment.Rose needed time think and sort out her feelings for JustinB. She also wanted to see what he was up to and see if he was having the same feelings for her that she was having for him. * * * JustinB As Ensign Killjoy and myself entered the O'Club, I was amazed at how empty it was. We were just about to sit down when I saw Randrius wave us over. Sitting down on his right, I ordered a drink for the three of us immediately.
"JustinB, you're a sight for sore eyes. Lately all I've seen are the Med-Techs," he said nursing his leg.
" Yeh, it’s good to see you as well,” I replied. Looking at Killjoy, “Ensign Killjoy, this is Lieutenant Randrius. Lieutenant Randrius, this is our new member Ensign Killjoy.”
After they exchanged their pleasantries we had a few more ales. “Ensign, I will try and tee up some training for you, but until then enjoy Randrius’s company. I need to find Major BatGal and get myself assigned to any patrols that are sent out when we enter the next system. Oh by the way. If you see Lieutenant Rose, please let her know I will be heading back to the barracks.
I turned around to see Randrius and Killjoy getting on like they had known each other for a while. As I made my way to BatGals Office, I felt the need to think over some issues after I left Major BatGal’s office. I caught her as she left the office. We discussed the need for giving Ensign Killjoy some Sim time and maybe some target practice.
“Let me know what you have in mind when you have got something on paper. Whatever it is, make sure you do not overwhelm him. While you are at it, I heard about Lieutenant Randrius’s leg. Can you see if he is flight capable?” She said. “Yes ma’am” I replied. We talked for another centon or two, then went in opposite directions.
‘Now lets see if I can run into Rose before I get to the barracks’ * * * Rose Rose continued running down the corridor since she left Hawke behind in the observation lounge over looking the Viper landing bay. She needed to find JustinB and see if he was having the same feeling that she was having for him. Rose wasn't sure what she was going to do should JustinB not feel the same way she was feeling for him at the moment. She just hoped that things went well for she didn't know if she could handle being unwanted by anyone.
Rose came up on the O'Club and considered going inside to see if maybe JustinB was there, but decided against it, for she wasn't in the mood to answer questions from others that might be there wondering why she was upset. She continued on her way and as she continued, Rose wiped away tears from her eyes. Rose wasn't one to cry normally, but she couldn't help it for she was so unsure about several different things at that very moment.
Not watching where she was running, Rose continued on down the corridor and ran into another Warrior. Rose ends up falling to the floor and when she looks up it is then that she notices that she had more or less plowed right into JustinB and didn't even know it was him until she had looked up at him while sitting on the floor. "I'm sorry, I wasn't watching where I was going," Rose says looking down. * * * JustinB I had just about given up hope of finding Rose, when all of a sudden I get hit from behind. After maintaining my balance, I looked for the offender. As I looked down, I saw it was Rose.
"I'm sorry, I wasn't watching where I was going," Rose said looking down.
"Well, its been a while since I have had a woman fall at my feet. Actually I wish it would happen more often," I said with a big smile, "but next time can you at least give me a few microns warning."
I grabbed her right hand and helped her to her feet. Her face went that real bright red. I also noticed that she had been crying.
"Rose, its good to see you. I have been looking for you so we can catch up." From the look I got from her facial expression and the fact she had hardly said a word, I knew something was on her mind. "Tell me whats wrong Rose, is there anything I can do for you?" * * * Rose Rose continued to look away a little when JustinB spoke, but when he asked her what was wrong and asked if there was anything that he could do for her, she looked up at him. She had been hoping to run into JustinB so that they could talk, but she didn't mean to run into him literally. Rose wanted to tell JustinB wat was bothering her and find out if he was having the same feelings for her that she was now having towards him, but she didn't want to discuss it there in the corridor. "I need to talk to you JustinB," Rose softly says, "but not here in the corridor where anyone can walk by and listen in on our conversation. Lets go some where so that we can talk without risk of several others bothering us while talk."
"Where would you want to go?," JustinB asks in return. He could tell something was bothering Rose, but couldn't pin point what it was that was bothering her. Not saying a word, Rose grabs JustinB's hand and pulls him along behind her as she continues on down the corridor. JustinB went along with Rose wondering where she was taking him and what she wanted to talk about. After walking around some and pulling JustinB along with her, Rose goes into the observation lounge and heads over towards one of the secluded couches.
Rose sits down on the couch she had picked out for her and JustinB to sit on while the two of them talked. After she had gotten comfortable on the couch, JustinB sits down beside her and turns so that he is facing her. "Rose," JustinB says, "you ready to tell me what is wrong?" Rose looked down at her hands and softly says, "I broke things off with Hawke. He still wouldn't answer my questions and was avoiding me again. I got tired of waiting for him to be honest with me on a few things and I told him that it was over between the two of us and when he was ready to open up to me he can come in search of me. I will not continue searching him out trying to get answers from him and just waiting around for some attention from him. I told him that I needed to move on with my life and I couldn't do that if I was waiting around for him to be honest with me or give me just a little attention." Rose looks up with tears silently falling. "I thought things would work between him and me," Rose begins again, "but I guess I was wrong in regards to that."
Rose looked over at JustinB and wondered what he was thinking in regards to all that she had just mentioned to him. She knew that what she had just told him was the most she had told him or even told anyone in awhile. Rose reached over to JustinB and takes his hand in both of hers. "JustinB," Rose softly says, "I know that I have just dumped a lot on you, but there is also something else I need to tell you. Since that day when we were last here in the observation lounge and shared that kiss, I have had these feelings for you and as time as gone along since that kiss, my feelings for you have been growing."

Randrius Randrius chatted with Killjoy for another fifteen minute, getting to know his newest squad-mate. He politely excused himself and headed towards his quarters, his mood considerably lightened. Turning a corner he narrowly avoided colliding with Batgal. "I'm sorry." "Not a problem," she hesitated, "will you be able to fly with your...injury." Randrius nodded, "Yes, I should be able to." Batgal smiled, "Good, I'll keep you on the active roster." Randrius nodded, he continued on towards his bunk. It was time for some well earned rest. * * * JustinB After reaching the observation lounge, Rose led me to a secluded couch. She reached over to me and took my hand in both of hers. "JustinB," Rose said softly, "I know that I have just dumped a lot on you, but there is also something else I need to tell you. Since that day when we were last here in the observation lounge and shared that kiss, I have had these feelings for you and as time as gone along since that kiss, my feelings for you have been growing."
Initially I was shocked and Rose saw that in my face. "FRACK, I've made a fool out of myself haven't I." Rose pulled away and began to leave. I grabbed her from behind and spun her around and before she could say anything, I pressed my body against hers then kissed her.
"Rose, with all truth be told, I have had my eye on ever since the Pauvwell System mission. But after doing some discreet checking, I found out you were committed to another. So I stood back," returning to the couch I continued, "but since then we became good friends. We shared a joke or two and got closer. Ever since that kiss I remained hopeful. But I still stood back because you and Hawke were still together. But now things are different and I want to be with you. Rose, I LOVE YOU." * * * Rose Rose was stunned when JustinB grabbed her, turned her around, and then kisses her. She could feel the passion and urgency coming from JustinB when he pressed his body to hers and kissed her. Rose hadn't wanted the kiss between her and JustinB to end. She wanted to feel his body against hers again and feel those lips of his on hers again and so much more. When JustinB sat back down on the couch, she slowly went back over and sat down also.
"You....you....you love me?," Rose asks a little surprised. JustinB nodded and reached over taking both of Rose's hands in his hands and gently runs his thumbs over the top of her hands. She was still in a bit of shock with hearing JustinB admit to her that he had feeling for her since the Pauvwell System mission and that he had kept his distance some due to her and Hawke being together. Now that she wasn't involved with Hawke, JustinB wanted to be with her and she wanted to be with him also.
"JustinB," Rose softly says while looking down at their hands, "I want to be with you also, but I want us to take our time. I don't want to make any mistakes this time around. I feel like a fool in a sense, all because of how I was treated while with Hawke. I hope you understand." Rose looks up into JustinB's eyes and the moment she did, Rose felt as though she could get lost in his eyes. "I love you too JustinB," Rose softly says. Unable to resist the urge any longer, Rose leans closer to JustinB and softly kisses him on the lips. * * * JustinB After the soft kiss, I looked Rose's eyes and said. "From this moment, we won't be able to partner up on missions. Major BatGal might not even allow us to be on the same patrols together. But whatever happens, I'll be open in our relationship. As Third Officer, on duty I will treat you the same as everyone else."
Rose smiled and replied, "The restrictions I can live with. Just as long as I have you when we are off duty."
I stood and helped Rose up and said, "By the way, are you up for a drink? I feel like having a little celebration about our getting together. "I would, but I am tired," she replied, "maybe after I have a little rest because it’s been a long day. I hope you don't mind?
"No problems, Rose. I will be in the Black Squadron office organising some training for Ensign Killjoy. That's after I go down to the Med-Lab and ask Holodoc about Randrius and his leg and if he's cleared onto active duty. So you know where I am if you wanna see me," I leaned over and gave Rose a quick peck on the cheeks, "see you later my Dearest Rose.
"Not if I see you first lover," she said as I left. * * * Rose Rose walked with JustinB towards the door of the Observation Lounge and she watches him head down the corridor towards MedLab to check up on Randrius. She couldn't take her eyes off of him as he walked down the corridor. Rose had wanted to go with him to get a drink, but she was in need of some rest also from the recent events of having to deal with the crawlons and its queen. Then there was also what she just recently went through with Hawke. Rose knew that things would settle down eventually and hoped that rumors wouldn't start up about her leaving one warrior for another.
Rose turned and headed towards the female barracks for Black Squadron. Along the way there, Rose continued to think about recent events and how her life had just changed so suddenly within a few centons. She just hoped that things went better for her this time with JustinB. Rose reaches the barracks and walks inside going over to her bunk. Once there, she gets a couple of things out of her footlocker and then heads on over to the shower area so that she could take a shower and change into something comfortable while she got some rest.
Rose walks over into one of the private changing area's there next to one of the showers and gets out of her uniform. Once she had her clothes off, Rose stepped over into the shower stall and turns on the water. Standing there in the shower washing her hair, Rose begins thinking more about JustinB. She hoped that things would go well for the two of them. Rose wanted to spend as much time with JustinB as possible, but she also knew that they couldn't let their duties slide by the waist side any. Stepping out of the shower stall, Rose drys off & puts on the clean clothes she had left in the changing area only centons earlier. She walks out of the shower area and goes back over to her bunk and sits down once she had put away her things and combed out her hair. Rose then lays down onto her bunk and closes her eyes to get some rest and as she starts drifting off to sleep, Rose continues to think of JustinB. * * * JustinB Once I had verified that Lieutenant Randrius was cleared to fly, I headed to the Black Squadron Office. I had sat for about twenty centons when I got an idea for training Ensign Killjoy. Since in the Blasanick System we would be relying on our eyes more than our scanners, I thought I would run a group of my pilots through a Flight Simulator. After contacting the right people and being granted permission to conduct the training I began to run through my list of pilots I thought could use some training. * * * Stargazor Stargazor was looking for Major BatGal to see what she decided on doing with him. He new some kind of punnishment would be comming to him. But he was changed by the accident and dind't remember anything about his past only tat is was good in a viper. He hoped to be flying soon but that would be up to command. * * * Lucian Commander Sheba read the instructions again. They were necessarily cryptic, in case the Cylons took the Callisto during her separation from the fleet. Fortunately, Sheba had been close enough to Apollo to allow her to read between the lines. She glanced back at the chart of the Blasanick system that Astro-Navigation had produced. Nodding, she tapped the chart near the outermost planet, labeled as “Outer” (since the astronomers were still trying to determine whether they’d located all of the major planets in the system). It was shown as a smallish, rocky orb, reportedly locked in perennial cold without an atmosphere breathable by humans. Hopefully, she thought, the spectrographic analysis would be wrong, but it it was as cold as they said, humans wouldn't be able to breathe it anyway. With gravity only 20 to 30 percent of standard, frozen methane “snow” covering much of the planet, and heavy radiation from the huge red star, the planet looked truly inhospitable. “Apollo, you picked a real winner this time,” said Sheba aloud. She finished the memo and forwarded it to Lieutenant Colonel Charybdis.

RE: Arrival in the Blasanick System
According to Astro-Navigation, the luminosity of this system is relatively low, despite the size of the Blasanick star. With its relatively low visible light emissions and its high UV radiation in the non-visible spectrum, long-range electronic sensors will have limited effectiveness. We will be effectively be operating in heavy shadows with visual capability only.
We will need a short range and a long range patrol to search the system for enemies and potential jump points. Major Jorlon has volunteered Silver Spar Squadron for the long range patrol, though I leave this to you for assignment.
In addition, please assign four Warriors to a shuttle for a trip to Blasanick “Outer.” They will need appropriate weapons, survival and protective gear, including weight boots and belts for low grav, and LandRam for travel on the planet’s surface for up to three cycles, although they should be expected to be in and out in less than one cycle. They are to collect a single item, on which they will be briefed just prior to their departure.
Since we arrive in one cycle, all assignments must be in place by the end of First Shift today. Assignees must begin taking "Hexachlorinal Iodinazone" to shield themselves from the effects of the radiation. Backup Warriors may be required since this drug has been known to have unpleasant side effects in some individuals.
Due to the heavy radiation, all observation ports aboard the Callisto must remain closed except those required for monitoring purposes. Again, those manning such ports will be required to take Hex-I, though in smaller doses. Finally, all Bridge personnel will be taking Hex-I starting at the beginning of Second Shift today. Those experiencing reactions will be temporarily assigned duties in other parts of the ship.

Charybdis I had just come off duty, finally, and was getting ready to get into bed, when the comm unit went off indicating a priority message from the bridge.
Blasanick system? Looked like a real winner from the short note from Commander Sheba. Silver Spar was going to have 'fun' with this one, I thought. But who to send on the landing party? Now THAT was one tough mission in those conditions.
I immediately sent out a short memo to Majors Brie and BatGal to see who in their squadron had ice and harsh environment experience. THe team with the most experience would get the nod...
And just think, I thought we'd almost be home and back with the fleet by now... * * * Lucian “But Sir, I don’t understand why Commander Apollo would have chosen such a Lords forsaken place,” said an obviously skeptical Lieutenant Finky. “You said the radiation this Blasanick star puts out is potentially deadly to humans, that it screws with our scanners so we’ll be basically flying through legume soup, and that from a distance, despite its huge size, you can’t even see it! Makes perfect sense to me,” she said, with sarcasm dripping from her words. “I suspect someone really screwed up…Sir!”
Major Lucian’s face tightened slightly to keep from breaking into a laugh. He’d been working closely with Lieutenant Finky for several sectars now, and he usually swung back and forth between amused and exasperated by her typical bluntness. However, she was a quick learner once things were explained, so he decided to take the time.
“It’s possible that it could be a foul-up, Lieutenant, but let’s examine the situation,” said Lucian in his patient teaching mode. “The radiation is known to be deadly to humans, so the Cylons would probably conclude that humans would not visit it. Therefore, they won’t be looking for us in that system. The electronic scanners won’t work well because of the radiation and the ‘dusty smoke’ in the system. Most Cylons with which we are familiar have visual apparatus, or apparatuses if you choose, that work in a similar mode, meaning that they won’t be able to see very well either. Yes, we’ll be operating on visual mode, but the Cylons would have even less range than ourselves. As far as seeing the star, it’s huge so it can be seen from a distance, but it’s not very bright in the visual spectrum, so it doesn’t stand out as anything special. It is very obvious to radiotelemetry, though, and its mass makes it possible to reach from greater distances in a jump than many of the other systems we’ve bypassed. Does it make any more sense now, Lieutenant?”
“I guess, but I don’t think I would have wanted to poison everyone coming here,” she said.
Lucian nodded, saying, “Good point. The hulls of the Callisto and CQ will protect us from that radiation, though, and only those exposed to the direct rays have anything to fear. The hexachlorinal iodinazone protect about 95 percent of those who take it, so it shouldn’t be that large a problem.”
“AH-HA! Only 95 percent!” snapped Finky, finding a great new argument. “What about those other 5 percent saps who it doesn’t protect. Do we just let them die?” She smiled, almost smugly knowing that that would be totally unacceptable.
“Those ‘saps’ are the ones who get so sick from taking the med that they can’t continue, and therefore, have no protection from the direct rays. That’s why Commander Sheba ordered those of us subject to exposure to the radiation to start taking the Hex-I early, so if we can’t keep taking the doses, we’ll know in advance of exposure. Those who can’t take it will be assigned to other duties for the duration of our stay in this system so they won’t be exposed to the radiation.”
Finky was finally almost convinced. “Have you ever had to take that hexy stuff?” “It’s Hex-‘EYE’, and yes, I have, long ago when I was aboard the Odyssey Nine as a kid. We visited a system that reminded me of this place, but it wasn’t nearly as large, and we only stayed for a couple of cycles while we calculated the route to the next system.”
“Did the hexy make you sick?” she asked, ignoring his attempted correction.
“No, but a number of my shipmates got very ill. Let’s just say that it wasn’t fun for about a secton. Lieutenant, if you will excuse me, I must complete this memo now that we have completed our analysis of the reports from Astro-Nav and the Science Lab.”

RE: Armament in the Blasanick System
Due to the excessive radiation on several bands and the ‘dusty smoke’ in the system, short-range, long-range, and even targeting scanners will most likely not work accurately. Turbo lasers at typical targeting ranges are estimated to have only 60 percent effectiveness at short range and possibly 20 to 30 percent at medium range. At long range, they will be totally ineffective. However, since any targeting will need to be done visually, we will probably be operating at short to point blank range only. It is recommended that appropriate Vipers be equipped with four Type V ship-to-ship missiles. These have the opportunity to lock on visually or by heat signature. All of the newer Vipers have appropriate mounting hardware for these missiles, though the few remaining older models do not. The missiles may not have much chance of hitting, but they will do more damage than the turbo lasers when they do hit. Since any Cylons encountered will have probably be having visual problems, it is suspected that the missiles will have a greater chance of hitting that in a fight in a more ordinary system. * * * “I’ll take it first,” said Major Lucian in response to Nurse Holodoc’s question. He was hoping to set a good example to those around him on the Bridge, many of whom had never experienced the agony of taking hexachlorinal idinazone, the mildly radioactive isotope that supposedly protected humans against the worst of some types of solar radiation.
Standing on the bridge with her mobile cart, she calibrated the dispenser for Lucian’s weight and pushed it against his arm. “This is going to hurt like hades,” she said.
“I know. I’ve had it before…UUUMMMPH! Yes, it doesn’t…get any easier…with age…does it?” he stated somewhat sarcastically. The fire spread through his arm like many wild equinuses and into his chest. His pulse raced, his breathing became faster and shallower, and tears welled in his eyes. Blinking to keep them from spilling onto his face, he swallowed hard, a number of times.
“Rough, isn’t it?” she asked. “I had mine a little while ago with the rest of the Med staff. The burning should subside, at least somewhat, in a couple of centons.”
Lucian nodded, and a few moments later, his breathing returned to normal, but the pain persisted. Holodoc, checking his pulse, smiled and said, “You’re okay, Lucian. You’ll probably be very queasy for the next few centars, but that’s normal. Just drink plenty of water if you get sick. If the queasiness lasts more than a cycle, come to Med Lab for a checkup. Now, we’re doing this in a number of potential exposure spots around the ship, so I’m moving on to the next person.”
“Get it done, ‘doc. Everyone subject to exposure has to be protected from this system’s radiation,” said Lucian, “even if it makes them sick as a daggit in doing it.” Forcing himself to smile, he waited until she was distracted with her next ‘victim,’ which drew most of the attention of those around them, before he proceeded to the nearest turboflush and promptly threw up. * * * Charybdis I still could not understand why Majors Brie and BatGal had posted their assignments for the mission. Silver Spar had not either. Some heads where going to roll, unless there was something wrong with the intraship comm units.
And the last paragraph of Commander Sheba's memo did not sit well. All Bridge personnel were to take the Hex-I? Why bridge personnel? We were not going to have any contact outside? I knew precautionary measures were in effect, but something didn't make sense.
I left my quarters after getting dressed and sought Nurse holodoc. I had heard that she was making the rounds with the Hex-I. I had taken it a couple of times before and I did not like the stuff.
I hope this time, I wouldn't get a headache like the last time. It kept me out of duty for several shifts... * * * It is with pleasure that Core Command announces the promotion of the following:
Artus Granfury
They have hereby been commissioned with the rank of Lieutenant in the Colonial Military. Congratulations!!
Also, Core Command wishes to announce that Ensign Marcus has graduated from the Cadet Training Academy and is commissioned with the rank of Ensign in the Colonial Military.
Ensign Marcus is to serve aboard the Battlestar Callisto and has chosen assignment under Major Brie in Gold Squadron.
Welcome our newest Warrior!! <chorus of congratulations and welcomes> * * * Brie Ice and harsh environment experience? Brie stared at the memo in a bit of disbelief. How could people born in space be expected to have ice and harsh environment experience? Of course there were a few in her squadron. She had some herself, as did Captain Skyler, and he could probably use a mission at the moment. Maybe Captain Cain, but if she and Skyler were off of the Callisto she would prefer that Cain remained behind in case they didn’t make it back. Lieutenant Hawke might fit the bill, but he had asked for a leave of absence after the fiasco with the blackshirts so he couldn’t be assigned. She didn’t know the background of newly promoted Lieutenant Artus well enough, maybe he had some ice and harsh environment experience.
She stared at the file in front of her. Another new recruit for Gold Squadron, Ensign Marcus. She opened the file slowly. If he had the right experience then his first mission as a member of Gold Squadron might also be his last.

Lucian The two workers cleaning the front viewscreen were obviously not regulars on the Bridge. They'd been quietly laughing and joking periodically about the necessity to clean the "big window," but overall, they'd kept the disturbance to a minimum. Due to their demeanor, Lieutenant Aegina had already stopped by once to ask them to keep it quiet to keep from disturbing those on duty on the Bridge. After her departure, they whispered quietly for a few moments, and then returned to work.
A short time later, the first said, "Yeah, that should just about do it. Since most of those electronic sensors are going to be down due to the radiation, this window should give you guys a good view of what's happening up ahead in this system."
"Ya' know, Matz, I heard ever'bod up here's gettin' a dose of that hex-zy stuff cause those rays come right through that big wind'a." A couple of the bridge officers nearby suddenly started listening closely to see if these two might provide additional info about the situation.
"Yeah, I heard that without that hex-I stuff, people standing in front of portals could get a lethal dose of radiation in as little as twenty centons. Poof! Burn them right up in no time!"
"Twenty! I heard fifteen!" said Matz.
Within microns, first one, then a second, and finally a third, of the nearby Bridge Officers, already almost green from the effects of the medicine, suddenly threw their hands over their mouths and took off for the nearest turboflush. The two workers slapped hands in glee as they laughed, but they stopped suddenly when they turned to find an angry Lieutenant Aegina standing behind them....
* * *
Commander Sheba heard the story a short time later from a still steaming Aegina.
"No, Lieutenant," replied Sheba, "it would not be lethal for a long, long time, but prolonged exposure to the limited rays coming through the front port could make some people sick over time. We're taking the Hex-I since we'll be flying basically on visual only in this system. We just don't want to take any chances." * * * granfury Hello.. just wanted to say That I`m very excited to be a new pilot in this squadron and hope to do well in my new assignment..Thanks for all the well wishes and to Lt.col Charybdis for the recent promotion to LT. I will not let the Callisto Down. Sincerly Lt.Granfury * * * Brie While trying to decide who should be assisgned to the upcoming mission, if it was given to Gold Squadron, Major Brie was happy to discover that the newly promoted Lieutenant Granfury had excelled at the top of his class during the "dangerous climate" training at the academy. She added his name to the list of possibilities, along with Captain Skyler's and her own. * * * Lieutenant Colonel Charybdis,
After checking the personal records and backgrounds of everyone in Gold Squadron, I have found that besides myself, two people have the type of extreme environment experience that you're looking for. If the mission is given to Gold Squadron, I recommend that both Captain Skyler and Lieutenant ThunderHawk are aboard. Also, Lieutenant Granfury excelled in his class at the academy during the hostile climate training. I would also like to include Lieutenant Amy, although she has only been on a planet once, she knows about atmospheric conditions because of her upbringing on the Agro Ship.
This is not a final list. If you give me more information I would be willing to put together a team.
Major Brie Gold Squadron * * * Lucian Later, Lucian stopped by the Med Lab to see Major BatGal. She had had a very allergic reaction to the Hex-I injection, and was confined to bed, with an IV supplying her fluids. “Doc, have any idea how long she’ll be out?” Lucian asked. He was very worried about his friend. Doc BKJ shook her head, “I really have no idea, Lucian. Extreme allergies to Hex-I can take a long time to overcome, though there have been cases where it’s passed in a few cycles. We just don’t know, but we’ll take good care of her…and we’ll keep you informed.” “Thanks, Doc,” replied Lucian as he stepped toward the door. “She’s…she’s…just about the closest thing I have to a relative in the whole Fleet. I’m going to inform the Commander.” Doc nodded in understanding as he left the room. * * * JustinB Lieutenant Colonel Charybdis,
After checking the personal files and backgrounds of everyone in Black Squadron, I have found only one person that has the type of extreme environment experience that you're looking for. Captain Kris is very experienced in extreme environments. Unfortunatley, Captain Kris is feeling the side-effects of the Hexachlorinal Iodinazone she was administered with the rest of Black Squadron.
This is not a final list as there are other officers who have had planetary experience. If given more information I might be able to put together a team.
Captain JustinB Black Squadron Third officer * * * Charybdis Given the complexities and the mysterious nature of this mission, highly experienced Warriors will be needed. Therefore, the mission will go to Gold squadron and will be under the Command of Major Brie.
Memo to Maj. Brie: Unfortunately, Lt. Amy is not medically cleared to undertake a mission at this time. Please select another Warrior.
Report to bridge for briefing in 2 centars.
That is all... * * * Brie Major Brie had mixed feelings about the upcoming Gold Squadron mission. Part of her had been hoping that it would have been assigned to Black Squadron, even though she knew that Gold Squadron was the more experienced of the two. But experience was probably not the word to use, some of the warriors that she was recommending had only learned about the type of climate they were to enter in the academy.
Brie was both surprised and disappointed that Lt. Amy wouldn’t be allowed on the mission. She was upset that no one had thought to tell her that Amy was on medical leave. She discovered, too late, that Amy had gone to the med lab without letting her know, and they kept her off of active duty for a couple of more days. Brie planned on sending a note to Doc Bkj, if a medtech grounded someone the squadron CO was supposed to be the first to know.
Details for the mission so far were sketchy at best. She hadn’t even been told how many people she was supposed to assign. She knew deep down that besides herself, Skyler and Thunderhawk were the only ones really qualified with the actual experience. But how would anyone else gain the needed experience if they weren’t given a chance? With a bit of hesitation she posted the following orders:
Captain Skyler, Lieutenants Thunderhawk, Granfury and Artus, and Ensign Marcus please report to the bridge in two centars for debriefing on the upcoming Gold Squadron mission. I will be in command, Captain Skyler will be SIC. Details, including the actual number of people needed, will be given then.
Major Brie
“May the Lords of Kobol help us,” she murmured silently. * * * Granfury Major Brie Don`t worry.. I`m ready for this mission..the academy taught me well..I excelled at this climate training in my class..I won`t let the team or the callisto down..I`m up for this..Lt. Granfury {see you at the bridge Major Brie.} * * * Lucian With the Gold Squadron mission members in the war room, Commander Sheba told them much the same thing about the dangers of the system that Major Lucian was telling the Black Squadron Warriors in the SIM room. Since the Gold mission was classified, some of the Gold Squadron members not assigned to the Gold mission had elected to head over to the SIM session to see if they could learn anything new on the Blasanick system in case they were called to duty in the system.
With the door closed, and only Lieutenant Colonel Charybdis and the Gold mission members present, Commander Sheba said, “What you are about to hear is Top Secret. If the information I am about to give you was to fall into the hands of our enemies, our fleet WOULD be put in grave danger, so you are to discuss it with no one. Commander Apollo gave me a relatively short personal message with the mission message embedded in it, and I have had to solve it from the references included. This was in case the Cylons took the Callisto. Your mission is…”
The Warriors listened intently as she gave out the details.
