Stadia
Connor looks to her concerned. In his medical studies aboard the Questar, he had studied the drug and he knew the effects of crystal.
Stadia climbed aboard the shuttle. She sat down in a chair to wait for take off. God her head hurts she thought to herself.

The shuttles were quickly prepared for launch. They launched into the night air heading back with the survivors. The vipers formed a defensive posture around the shuttles.
“Captain Cain, we have a problem. There are additional survivors. They were kept separate from the rest for the purposes of breeding. I was able to get Stadia and one of the survivors out. They were locked in a pen together. “
“Randrius, do we know how many are still left?”
“No sir. Haven’t had time to question the survivor.”
“Find out all the details you can and report to me on the ship.”
“Yes Sir.”
Randrius exited the flight deck and looked at this man. He shakes his head as he isn’t going to wonder.
“Connor, in order to help those people we left behind I need to know how many were left and where they were kept.”
“Well there were 16 that I knew of. Many of which were women. They were kept one floor above where you rescued Stadia and I. I cant tell you much else. Sorry.”
“Well that’s a start..”
Connor looked at Stadia. “Randrius, is there a med kit aboard?”
“Yes why?”
“Stadia has been complaining about having a headache. Since I am a doctor, I thought I would give her something for the pain.”
“We took a nasty fall trying to get away from those things. She hit her head on a rock and was knocked unconscious.”

Rose was standing in the hatch of her shuttle when she saw Randrius, Stadia and another survivor by their side. She looked worried and turned to Kris, "Kris, wasn't JustinB with Randrius?"
Due to her weariness and relief to see Stadia, she had forgotten about JustinB. Her relief had turned to dread. She saw the fear and sadness in Rose but she couldn't work out why. Rose and JustinB were only friends.
"We have to go and look for him. I owe him my life," Rose said with tears rolling down her eyes. With JustinB nowhere to be seen, being his SIC for the mission she ordered everyone into the shuttles. JustinB if he were still alive, would have to wait until a fresh assault team arrived.
Rose watched as everyone boarded the shuttle and shed a tear for her friend. She turned slowly and entered the shuttle just as slow. She was just about to close the hatch, when she heard what she thought was laser fire.
*************
I had just turned the corner there it was. Stockpiles of colonial lasers, rapid-fire cannons, explosives and even mines. I was about to look at the weird looking handgrips, which had been added to the weapons, when I was knocked off my feet. Upon impact with the floor, I hit my head against a rock.
As I got up, I saw the largest Reptiloid I had ever seen. He held a languatron between his claws.
"I am Kra'a, the leader of our race. You I have seen many times. First when you foiled us in killing the one who hid by the rock by himself. Now I will kill you."
Kra'a dove towards me, trying to slice me with his razor sharp claws. I dove out of the way, just to get my warrior jacket slashed. I fired upon him, but he too had some armour on.
We fought for what seemed centars. Both trying to kill the other. Something in the corner caught my eye. Two explosive charges with a fifteen centon delay. With the distraction, Kra'a managed to cut me. Luckily just a scratch, but enough was enough. With a shot to the side of the neck I sent him running.
After picking up all the weapons I could carry, I armed the two charges and placed them on the remaining weapon stockpile. I ran as fast as I could. As I exited the cave, I saw that the shuttles looked like they were about to take off. I fired in the air five time to attract their attention. I could make out a single person in the hatchway. They ran towards me and soon I saw it was Rose.
*************
She turned slowly and entered the shuttle just as slow. She was just about to close the hatch, when she heard what she thought was laser fire. As Rose turned around she knew it was JustinB. She ran as fast as she could.
"I thought you had been killed or something," Rose said with joy written over her face. "Well, I am here now." I replied. With that Rose helped JustinB with the captured weapons and walked beside him back to the shuttle.

Kra’a rubbed the side of his neck for what felt like the one hundredth time in the last twenty centons. The pauk’ta leaves weren’t helping as much as he’d have liked, but then again, he’d never been shot by on of the Ko-no-nee weapons before.
Twelve dead brothers and sisters, and almost that many wounded…so far. There would be a good feast in a few centons. Unfortunately, the celebration would be muted. They had only taken two of the armored Ko-no-nee invaders, though they had killed three or maybe even more of the unarmored escapees. Several others, including the fierce one who had wounded him, had been damaged, but Kra’a didn’t know how long it would take for them to regenerate. He and his brothers and sisters would spend the morrow on the rock in the star’s rays to speed their regenerative cycle.
“Chieftain Kra’a,” said the brother approaching. The name still sounded odd to him, but since he had taken out the old chief less than a full cycle before, it was appropriate. The brother continued, “We have received a drum reply that the neighboring clans are moving to our position to help defend against the Ko-no-nee invaders. As you said, they still know nothing of the Ko-no-nee prisoners since we aren’t yet ready to tell them of our breeding stock plans. We only have seven left since the others escaped.”
“Too few! Nor will we ever tell them,” snarled Kra’a forcefully. “We have lost too many to make the program effective.” He made his decision. “Tell the others to prepare for a feast immediately. We feed on our dead brethren and the Ko-no-nees. None of those coming to our aid must know of those we had captured.”
As the brother went to arrange the feast, Kra’a thought of the fierce one. “We shall meet again, my enemy…but next time, it will be on my terms and I will feed on your bones!”

In the shuttle, the Colonials mourned the loss of the two Troopers who had been killed, along with several of the escapees. The Warriors discussed how to rescue those left behind, questioning those who had recently been moved from that level back to the main group. From what the others knew, the estimate was that there were six to ten who had remained on the other level, since the Reptiloids were constantly moving the humans around as they tried to get their breeding program underway. Doc Connor tended to the wounded, but he kept checking on Lieutenant Stadia, who he had covered carefully in the silvery emergency blanket.

A short time later, broken bone shards from two distinctly different types of creatures were added to the shard piles. Kra’a felt intensely frustrated, though full, in that this would be the last Ko-no-nee meat he would eat…for a while, anyway. He went in search of Sma’ar to see how the plans they had discussed were developing. They would have to be greatly expanded now if the Brethren were to return to the stars.

Once the everyone and the landrams were aboard their assigned shuttles, we took off. As the third shuttle did so, it was raked by enemy ground fire. Even though it took some damage it was still flyable. Captain Cain took one last pass and fired where the ground fire came from.
As soon as we left the planets atmosphere, I went to around and checked on the survivors. All up we had forty three survivors from the Caprican Questar. Seeing that Holodoc was busy tending to a middle aged female, I ordered the the rest of the warriors on my shuttle to check and see who else required attention.
I then contacted the bridge of the Callisto and informed them of our status and the fact we had rescued forty three people from the planets surface.
I personally was exhausted. I went up to Rose and after exchanging smiles, I told her I would be having a ten centon nap in the landram and then for her to come and wake me up.
I got as comfortable as I possibly could and dozed right off to sleep. While I was sleeping I had a dream. I was on a planet during a recon mission. I had gotten separated from my recon wingman. I walked into a clearing and I froze for a micron. Standing there, with a large scare on his neck he let out a loud warcry. It was Kra'a.
"I knew the day would come again that we would meet again. This time it is to the death we fight." Kra'a said.
*****************
Rose contacted the Callisto and was told, she had clearance to land once all the vipers had did so. Seeing that four more vipers had to land, she got up to wake up JustinB. When she opened up the door to the landram, she stopped to look at him. She remembered how she felt when he didn't return with Stadia and Randrius. She shook him on the shoulder. JustinB woke up startled.
****************
"JustinB, we are preparing to land. Just thought you would like to know." Rose said.
"Thanks," I replied. I climbed out of the landram slowly. The dream I had still daunted me. Kra'a, I would meet again, I don't know how but I knew.
I buckled in as we made our approach. The first thing after reporting in and submitting the post mission report would be to have a turbo wash. Then I would go to the O'Club and have a many few ale's.
After a few centons we landed. With a sigh of relief our rescue mission was over.
