Logan was biting her lip. The probe craft hadn't responded yet and she wished it would. Her biggest fear was that whoever was piloting the craft, and by the life signs it was a human, would do something stupid and they'd be forced to fire.
She didn't want that to happen. Her curiousity was demanding to know who was in that ship, where they had come from and why in the names of the Lords of Kobol were they piloting a craft that hadn't been in service for yahrens. She didn't even think there was a Type Two Probe in existence anymore, at least not in the Fleet.
She sent flight adjustments to Hush over the Viper's interlinked network so as not to alert the unknown pilot of the probe by using the comm. A slight course correction would put the probe almost directly between Skyler and Brik on one side and her and Hush on the other. She knew that thing couldn't match in maneuverability to their Vipers, but kept a safe distance. She noted Brik was correcting his course in similar fashion.
Skyler repeated his greeting to the ship. And they waited for a response.

Skyler checked the equipment and the probe craft was receiving the transmission, his scanners also showed the life form to be moving and alert inside the craft. He was actually flying it, it wasn't remote piloted or computer controlled. The probe craft altered corse slightly, which if unchanged would carry it straight to the fleet.
"Major Skyler of the Battlestar Callisto to the Probe Craft, you will respond or I will blow your craft out of the sky, so you copy?"
Just to stress his point, Skyler place a shot just to the port side of the probe craft that rocked it from side to side..... he waited for a response.

Kalten could feel the sweat making him uncomfortable in his flight suit. He knew the atmospheric controls were fine. He swore silently at the commander, knowing he had no way of knowing what Kalten would face through the rift, but it made him feel better to blame someone else for his current situation. His fingers flew over his control panel, attempting to send his probe data back through the rift. He had no idea if he was successful or not.
He made a split second decision and hoped it was the right one. He had no idea who these people were, how they had gotten these high tech Vipers and as far as he knew, there was no Battlestar named Callisto. His mind was racing as he put all the information together and came to the only logical conclusion.
"Hold your fire! This is Lt. Kalten of the Deep Space Lotus Laboratory. I surrender."

"Hold your fire! This is Lt. Kalten of the Deep Space Lotus Laboratory. I surrender."
Logan blinked and couldn't help looking off her bow at Hush's ship, even though she couldn't clearly see his face, she wondered if he was as confused as she was.
What the frack was the Lotus Laboratory? And where was it? That planet may have once harbored life, but it was long ago. The planet was ravaged and no scans showed anything remotely resembling an active construct, not even in orbit.
And the scans didn't add up to any sort of force field. That ship had appeared out of thin...space and now a human on an outdated probe craft from an outpost she'd never heard of was surrendering to them.
She listened as Skyler gave the probe's pilot instructions and changed her flight path to bring up the rear of the escort of their 'prisoner' back to the Callisto and what she hoped would be some well deserved answers.

Persephone had met up with Triton now, and they hurried to return to Gold's ready room, as a klaxon sounded through the corridors of the Callisto. It rang through their ears, and vibrated right down to their boots. "What in all the colonies is going on?And why do we no longer have to be dressed in civilian clothing?", Persephone querried to Triton, as she pulled on the last sleeve of her combat jacket, while holding onto her nap sack, as they briskly walked together.
Triton shook his head as he pulled on his clean jacket he had grabbed quickly on his way of out his billet, after receiving a semi-mass message from Lt Baris on his personal comm.
"I don't know, I got the same brief message you did from Lieutenant Baris that we were to report in our uniform to the ready room ASAP. My guess is as good as yours right now, Persephone."
Persephone nodded in agreement. Triton adjusted his sleeve cuffs over his tunic sleeves, tucking his wrist chronometer neatly under one of them. After he finished this, he looked up at Persephone intensely for a few microns, studying her features , as she herself fiddled with tucking her own chrono under her sleeve.
Lords it's incredible... he thought to himself, comparing her similar resemblance to Serina. She felt his gaze and looked at him with surprise. "What is it, Triton?" she asked in a breathy way, as they picked up their pace along the winding hallway.
"Nothing". He returned his eyes back to the corridor.
Swinging her bag back over her shoulder, she frowned at him.
"Nothing? Are you sure?"
"Yeah, Pers, I'm sure".
"Alright , if you're sure, then let's get to that ready room."
Looking around the room when she entered, Persephone couldn't see her wingman Logan in sight, nor any of the other assignment members. Where was everyone?

Lt. Baris sat stiffly in his chair, legs and arms crossed, mouth set in a firm line. After having been dismissed from the mission and the Gold Squadron members leaving for parts unknown, he had read a brief communication from Commander Sheba stating he and the other errant members of the delayed mission were to report to the Ready Room for further instructions.
He didn't ask questions, but went by his quarters off the Med Lab to quickly change back into his duty uniform. Absentmindedly straightening his collar, he wondered why he had been called to this meeting. It wasn't unheard of for med staff to be assigned to missions, but since this particular excursion had been waylaid, any explanations could have been communicated through the comm system. But he didn't second guess the commander. He had served on the Callisto under Sheba for yahrens and trusted her implicitly.
He wasn't sure about her choices for mission members, though he assumed she had her reasons. Major Skyler was by the book and capable. Though a man of few words, Baris had come to respect him and his quiet determination. Captain Brik and Lt. Hush were starkly different in appearance. Of everyone on the ship, it had been said by more than one casual observer that the oftentimes stuffy Baris was one of the few that the large Captain did not seem to intimidate with his mere presence. And the Bronze Squadron lieutenant had a calm assurance about him that put Baris at ease.
And then there was Captain Logan...Baris couldn't put his finger on it, but something about her bothered him. It might be her blatant disregard for authority and hotheaded nature. These were not qualities he felt were appropriate for a Colonial Warrior. She seemed reckless, almost dangerous. He could feel his face flushing and chided himself for getting worked up over someone who seemed to have so little concern for consequences.
Further reverie was stalled as Lts. Persephone and Triton entered the Ready Room. Baris noted that at least these two Warriors had the good sense to change back into their uniforms. He rose as they entered and greeted them with a nod of his head.
"Lt. Baris, " Persephone said. "What is going on?"
Baris sniffed a bit loudly and crossed his arms over his chest. "It seems our mission has been delayed. The Commander has deployed Major Skyler, Captains Logan and Brik and Lt. Hush on a patrol of some sort. She just said to meet her here."

Kalten rubbed his eyes again. Bigger than life coming into view was a Battlestar, and using the advanced electronics in his probe craft he scanned the closest flight pod for a visual image and it had CALLISTO marked on it bigger than lifeā¦ It had been a while since he had seen a Battlestar from a cockpit, maybe it was his memory playing tricks on him, but still, something looked different about the Callisto than he remembered his last Battlestar the Rycon looking

"Gold Squadron. You have been cleared for landing. The Commander will meet you in Alpha Bay."
There had been no more communication between the Warriors and the pilot of the probe craft. He had flown with their escort as directed and the only sound from the open channel had been a small gasp as the form of the Callisto had rose up in the distance.
"Acknowledged, Callisto." Skyler's voice betrayed nothing, but Logan knew that her longtime friend must be having the same bout of curiousity and confusion as she was.
Who was this man? Where had he come from? And why, in the name of the Lords, was he flying this old ship that belonged in a museum? The probe looked new and not as if it had been refitted from a scrapyard as she at first suspected.
Logan was having a hard time biting her tongue. She wanted to ask questions, if not of the pilot, at least Hush and Brik. But protocol dictated they maintain silence until the prisoner had been debriefed officially by the Commander. Prisoner? Is that was he is? At this point, he had shown no signs of hostility, but her time as a Warrior had proven to her to mistrust anything out of the ordinary and this didn't have a trace of ordinary about it.

Baris sniffed a bit loudly and crossed his arms over his chest. "It seems our mission has been delayed. The Commander has deployed Major Skyler, Captains Logan and Brik and Lt. Hush on a patrol of some sort. She just said to meet her here."
Just then, the ready room's monitor flickered on.
"Attention all warriors and personnel in Gold's Ready Room. This is the Colonel. The Commander has asked me to inform you that the emergency patrol sent out just within the last thirty centons are now currently returning to the Callisto."
Persephone and Triton looked at eachother then turned to Baris. He looked about as confused as they did.
"Colonel, may I inquire why members of our assignment team were called out on sudden patrol?", Persephone asked concerned.
"We are about to find out ourselves, Lieutenant. We have discovered a ship in the patrol's quadrant. The small patrol have seized it and are shepherding the craft into the landing bay, as we speak. It is believed to have an occupant onboard, but at this moment, we don't have any more information. You are permitted to monitor the landing on your ready room's video monitor on Beta channel. Do not enter the landing bay area.We do not know if the ship is hostile or not. You are asked to remain in the ready room until further notice, Lieutenants."
"Yes Colonel", replied Triton. The Colonel's image flickered out, just as Baris leaned over to switch the channel to view the landing bay.
"What kind of ship could it be?" Persephone queried worried.
Triton shook his head, as his eyes diverted to the screen, as the landing bay came into visual.

It was all Brik could do to maintain radio silence and escort formation, which was unusual and showed perfectly how odd this mission had been (despite the lack of open conflict).
In one way this strange old-yet-new vessel was *probably* another odd Cylon or unknown-alien method of trickery, maybe even a highly complex bomb.
But in another way, this vessel and its occupant (no doubt frightened) could be a surviving descendant of an earlier Colonial expedition...or even a native of Earth!
The possibilities were many...but the *probabilities* were actually quite few.
Despite this plethora of questions, Brik was essentially logical (in is own way) so his thoughts always found there way back to the here-and-now. And Brik of the here-and-now was eager to see what Skyler would do when they landed and which question Logan would ask first.
