The landing was flawless. Brie had been a bit unsure about it because she wasn't used to the ship, but there was no problem. She looked through the window and scanned the growing sea of faces. It looked like Gold Squadron had been called, but she didn't see Skyler. JustinB wasn't there either. "Good," she said out loud.
Knowing procedure, Brie opened the cockpit and stood, her hands up. "You can see it's me," she called out to the growing crowd in front of her. "I'm unarmed, as are my passengers." As she jumped down out of the ship a man in a hazard suit approached her and quickly patted her down. "See?" Brie said.
"What about your passengers?" he asked, his voice distorted from the suit.
Brie grinned. "I promise, they're no threat." She climbed back up into the ship and pulled out two small carriers. "After all, they're only two sectons old."

Comeek sat in the small access room off the main security office of the bay. Few people knew this room even existed. It was an added storage area that hadn't been used for ages.
He stared at the small screen on his personal pad, modified by himself of course to provide live feeds from several cameras he had placed throughout the ship back in Pierce's day. He had been watching Logan as she interacted with an unknown Ensign and then followed her progress across the bay to the new ship. Comeek was ruffled by all the extraneous activity onboard the callisto. First that strange pilot and now another mystery ship.
He was waiting for quiet to put his plans in action. If only Logan would stay still long enough.
He squinted at the screen as Logan approached the ship. Then squinted some more. "No, " he whispered as he watched the Widow descend from the ship. This was a wrinkle he hadn't expected and Comeek hated surprises.

"Why is everyone looking so surprised?" Brie asked. "If it wasn't known five centons after I disappeared that I was pregnant than obviously Roxzanna-Rizou hasn't been doing her job. Now, if everyone will excuse us, my daughters and I need to get to decom ASAP."

I made it into the landing bay just as Brie was making her way down and addressing the crowd that had gathered.
When some saw me, they parted and allowed me through. I stood before Major Brie, alive and in the flesh. "Charybdis," she said.
"Brie. I don't know what to say. It's really you!"
"Well who were you expecting Colonel?"
"We, uh, all thought that you were...that you didn't make it...welcome back."

NOTE: Yes, timewise I moved the story ahead quite a bit. I hope it doesn't mess anyone up, but it was the only way to get Brie back in my twisted little mind.
**
"You thought I was what, dead? Is that why no one came looking for me?" Brie asked, a slight amount of bitterness in her voice. "Never mind, don't answer that. We can go over everything in the debriefing. As it is, right now I need to get myself and my kids to decom."

Logan was so blown away that even Brie's announcement that she had daughters didn't throw her. The fact that her superior and friend was standing alive in front of them all trumped everything else, even her disbelief.
Glancing at Col. Charybdis for direction after Brie's second mention of decom, he nodded at her and she fell back into the only thing that made sense. Protocol and duty.
Stepping forward to stand beside the Col., with what she knew had to be an incredibly dumb smile on her face, she greeted the long lost Major. "Major Brie, welcome back. Let's get you squared away." And Logan kept this next part to herself. And thank the Lords that you're back. Skyler will have a fit.

Brie couldn't help but notice that, even though everyone was smiling, most members of Gold Squadron and the few blackshirts standing around had their hands precariously close to their weapons. Nothing ever changes around here she thought to herself. Nothing ever stinking changes.
Still, it was nice to see a few friendly faces. She had been friends with Charybdis for almost longer than she could remember, and he was a good person to have on her side. Logan…well…she was also a friend, and Brie knew that there was nothing that Skyler wouldn't do for his late fiancée's sister. Scanning the crowd, Brie knew that even with their hands near their weapons most members of Gold Squadron were fiercely loyal to her. Loyalty is so important, especially now.
"Could you do me a favor, Captain?" Brie asked, turning to Logan. "Could you get me a clean uniform? I need to look presentable when I have my debriefing with the Commander, and I'm really sick of this alien garb."
"Of course," Logan replied.
Brie grinned. "And make sure there's plenty of coffee. Man, I think that's what I missed the most."
A young med tech that Brie didn't recognize stepped up. "And I'll arrange for a medical exam for the children while you're in the debriefing."
"No!" Brie said so loudly that several hands moved closer to their weapons. She took a deep, calming breath. "My daughters are staying with me."
The med tech glanced at Charybdis, who nodded slightly. "Okay, Ma'am, I'll arrange for the exams for all three of you after the debriefing."
"Thanks," Brie said, slightly embarrassed at having raised her voice. "I'll see all of you in a few." With a carrier in each hand, Brie headed to decom.

Logan immediately turned to Charybdis as she started to head for Gold's Ready Room, "Col., if I might suggest you ask specifically for Lt. Baris to perform the checks after debriefing. No offense meant to that med tech, " she nodded in his direction as he stood off to one side seemingly at a loss at being rebuffed in such a decisive manner, "but Baris, while somewhat gruff, is more experienced dealing with assertive Warriors."
"Thank you for the suggestion, Captain, " was all Charybdis said. She could tell he was as shocked as the rest of them at seeing Brie, alive and well. And with two babies. Daughters.
Logan wasn't trying to take over, but as much trouble as Baris sometimes caused her, he was highly competent and trustworthy. Whatever was going on here, she felt that Brie deserved that.
She couldn't grasp what was going on. How Brie had survived and where had she been? Skyler had searched for her until he was almost beyond exhaustion. A crazy thought struck her. Maybe she had been trapped somehwere in the rift? Or at least, unable to be found or communicated with because of interference caused by the time-space disturbance. It made as much sense as anything else that had happened lately. And why did Brie seem so defensive? She couldn't know that they had spent the past day debriefing a strange man from the past who had given them the key to changing the future of the Fleet. And more.
Logan left the small knot of crewmen and officers who watched Brie disappear into the decom station and headed for the Ready Room. There would be spare uniforms in the lockers there. And she had to make sure there was coffee available, knowing that Brie wasn't joking about that part.
As she walked swiftly, she pulled her personal comm unit from her belt and keyed in the strangest message she had ever sent to Major Skyler, hoping that he didn't he tear the landing bay out of the Rising Star getting his Viper out of there. SHe wished she could tell him in person, but she also knew that if she waited he'd probably be so mad at her that he'd ground her and take her rank. He had to know.
Skyler,
Alien ship has landed. Three passengers. Major Brie and two infants. I saw her myself. She's alive.

I quickly made the decision to act upon Captain Logan's advice. She had Brie's ear a bit more than I had during those fateful last days when Brie disappeared and I could only imagine what Brie had gone through. Judging by the tone of her voice when she responded about not sending anyone out to look for her, she seemed a bit frazzled. She had to know that we would turn the sky over to look for her. If she only knew the efforts undertaken by Skyler and the rest to try and find her...
I ordered for Lt. Baris to report in order to conduct the checks on Brie as I remained waiting for her to finish with the decom in order to escort her to the bridge...

After having retrieved a uniform for Brie from the storage locker in the Ready Room, Logan walked back across the deck towards Col. Charybdis, who was waiting outside decom for Brie. She hadn't received a message back from Skyler, but she wasn't surprised. She figured he was either horizontal on the floor of the Rising Star or about to come barreling back onto the landing bay of the Callisto, thrusters burnt out from the trip.
She had taken a micron to check with Ensign Ione who had delivered the interview information to Captain Brik as she had requested. She knew that by now Commander Sheba had it as well. Brik didn't waste time carrying out his duties and she knew he loved a good mystery as much as she did.
She couldn't get rid of this wiggling bit of turmoil in the pit of her stomach, which had joined the chill at the base of her spine. She had a feeling that all Hades was getting ready to break loose and coulod only prepare herself as best she could.
Brie was alive. With babies. A man from the past was sitting in the conference room. And their pilots were alive. In the past. Just before the attack on the Colonies. Logan couldn't shake a feeling of unease. That they were missing something. But try as she might, she couldn't place what it was.
So she gave up trying for the micron and focused on what she knew. And what she knew right now was that she had a fresh uniform for Major Brie. She came to stand beside the Colonel and inclined her head in greeting. Taking up a position beside him, she waited.
************
Commander Sheba turned from the monitor once the connection was broken and sighed heavily. Apollo had been just as shocked as she at the news of Brie's sudden appearance.
Sheba looked down at the data pads on her desk, flipping through the reports but not really seeing them. She had read and reread all of them. All she needed was Skyler's report from the Rising Star and this Scapino person.
She and Apollo had agreed on one thing. This was a mission that was twofold. Their pilots would be retrieved and if they had to trade this Lt. Kalten for them, so be it. It seemed odd that it would come to that, but yahrens on the run from Cylons and faced with struggles they had never imagined had made the survivors of the Cylon attack on the Colonies suspicious. They had to be.
She and Apollo had gone over a plan. A plan that might have far reaching effects. Effects that they might not know of until they happened. Or didn't happen. She smiled to herself and shook her head.
Sitting back in her chair, she closed her eyes for a while, awaiting the report from Skyler, any further information from her Captains, and a sure to be strange debriefing with Major Brie.
