Logan couldn't believe what she was seeing, had no frame of reference for it. Caprica, whole and healthy. Even with the Cylon Raiders on her tail, creating that insectlike mass of fighter ships zooming around each other in a ballet of sparks and destruction. It was a dance choreographed by madmen and her own movements were so practiced she didn't have to think of them, just react.
Edan had things under control on his end and she let him run with it, without interference. Blasting through the miniscule points of light that were the wreckage of the Raider she had just hit, she pulled back on the throttle and dared a glance out the canopy. Nero was tight on her wing, all traces of surliness gone as he flew his older model Viper with precision. He was good and knew it. "Nero, hard veer right!" He immediately darted his ship at Logan's order and they formed up with Plwel and his Green Wing. She'd given up calling out Gold designations about ten microns into the battle. With the new Green Squadron members and several members of other squadrons included in this group of Vipers, it seemed pointless. She knew Skyler wouldn't like her breach of procedure, but she thought they were all too busy to worry about that right now. And it made her feel like she was giving these Warriors their due, calling them by name instead of a number. In this battle, she felt it was the least she could do.
Comm chatter buzzed in her ears, the planetary defenses were mobilizing. Thank the Lords. The baseship was just out of range but she knew from Edan's reports what was happening.
Her scanner blinked and she looked down quickly, back up again as she shook a Raider off, Plwel coming in behind her and blowing it out of space. She had a moment's confusion as she couldn't make sense of what she saw. Couldn't rectify the...wrongness of it. "Brik! Warbook!"
"Affirmative! Baseship, cresting the planet. But that means...."
She didn't wait for him to finish. "Callisto, we have TWO baseships. I repeat, two baseships. Raiders have been launched and we are engaging now."

"Brik! Warbook!"
"Affirmative! Baseship, cresting the planet. But that means...."
She didn't wait for him to finish. "Callisto, we have TWO baseships. I repeat, two baseships. Raiders have been launched and we are engaging now."
FRACK!
His brief reverie brutally ended, Brik turned all of his attention once more to the current situation. Bringing his viper around to bear on the distant basestar, he contacted the four pilots of his wing and directed them to follow his lead. Then he spoke to his best friend. "Logan! I plan to flank that basestar and do our best to cripple her landing bays. If we manage to get some of her turrets, all the better. If your groups could provide a slight diversion for those raiders...?"
Although coordinating a new attack on the fly, the large captain was by no means simply talking. He had sent three raiders and their crews to the fiery cold of robot hell, if there was such a place. He truly hoped that there was. As the third enemy ship flared out of existence, Brik and his cohorts returned to the trajectory of the oppressive second basestar, turbos blasting flame from the viper's engines. His rarely known imagination pictured the barrels of his ship's weapons gleaming in the light of Caprica, and found the idea of it to be quite fitting.

"Already on it, Brik!" Logan replied, lining up the Raider in her sights and hitting the fire button as soon as the target was locked.
She knew it was crazy to fly straight at a baseship as Brik intended, but she also knew that this was no ordinary mission and more importantly, it was what she would do if he hadn't thought of it first. She felt a flush of jealousy and used it to fuel her concentration.
"Lt. Cian, Caprica Planetary Defense, reporting for duty, " she heard over the comm. A group of ships from the planet had appeared out of nowhere and were falling in line with Logan's group. There were only a handful of them and their ships looked like they were ready for the scrap heap, but she didn't complain. They needed all the help they could get.
"Welcome to the party, Lt. Follow my lead. Plwel, match me. Let's give Brik some room to breathe." She counted to five to give Brik the time he needed to get close to position and took a hard turn, rolling her Viper right and heading straight into the largest group of Raiders. She knew to anyone watching, it looked like she had lost her mind, but she didn't have time for standard maneuvers. "For the Colonies!"

It's really been a long time, Amy thought as she left the Gold Squadron barracks and made her way to Brie's quarters. All of her stuff had been stowed with her mom, and Amy thought it funny that she'd slipped back into the past, going to the barracks first as if no time had gone by at all.
It wasn't the old days anymore, but actually it was. The colonies were out there in all their pre-ambush splendor. But Amy was thinking of her own past, of racing to launch vipers with Charybdis along side of her, the feeling of being flush with youth and in love, the future bright before her.
A future that now would come to a sudden end... when? What act would be the one to cause her to fade from existance? When the first basestar falls? When a raider that was never destroyed suddenly is? Or would it come in the bigger moments, like when the tide is successfully turned back and the colonies are going to survive?
Amy dressed quickly, the brown warrior coat feeling good as she slipped her arms into it and drew it up around her shoulders. With a quick glance in the mirror she was out the door and on her way to the bridge again...
She arrived to find Charybdis on the highest level of the bridge, staring intently at the monitors. Amy quickly rounded the corner and climbed the stairs, wondering what the latest news was, and surprised that she was still around to find this out.

Charybdis said nothing to Amy, but motioned to her and tapped at a monitor screen while conversing with other bridge officers. Amy leaned over and stared at the monitor for a millicenton, then straightened back up. She placed a hand on Charybdis's shoulder for a moment, then turned and decended the stairs. With one brief look back, she left the bridge.
Moving quickly down the corridors she headed for the launch bay. Her heart began to pound. It really had been a long time. But no matter the twists and turns her career as a warrior had taken, she had learned well and was prepared to do whatever it took to defend the colonies.
She entered an elevator and pressed the level that would take her to the bay. She stood back, listening to the lift whine. She was nearly there when it hit her...
She felt dizzy. She braced herself against the wall of the elevator, and took deep breaths. She thought she had shaken it off when the feeling hit her again, and her knees buckled.
"No!" she managed to say. Not now, not when she was so close to.... "NO!" She shook her head, but it did nothing but make her world spin. With one final attempt to shake the feeling everything began to fade and an incredible brightness began to take over. This is it, she thought, and her eyes began to water....
When the elevator reached bay level and the doors slid open, the car was empty....

Things had not gotten too much better for Edan and Guinevre. Even with Vipers coming up fromt he surface of Caprica, the Cylons still seemed to be beating the Colonials. In fact, the Basestar seemed to be settling over Caprica City even as The Ensigns tried to move in closer.
The problem was The basestar was still launchig waves of Raiders. Finally, Edan and Guinevere, completely cut off from any other friendly forces ahd to give up on the attempted attack on the Launch bays. They couldn't do it. the other junior officers seemed to have been destroyed in the attempt.
"Guinevere, We need to get some space between these Cylons and us. Head down into the planet, we'll try to make a break for it. We're not going to make a difference dying here at these odds."
"Copy Edan, it is getting crazy in here. I can't seem to shake them. We destroy one, and 2 more take it's place."
Both Vipers hit turbos and dove towards the surface of Caprica. They were just pulling up from their dive when the Basestar fired it's Mega Pulsar for the first time. Ripping throught he air, the blue pulsar struck the center of the capital city. Fires erupted everywhere, Buildings began to fall. Raiders that had followed the 2 Vipers down began straffing runs on the city as well.
With the City falling behind, and the Raiders not pursuing, Edan let up on his Turbos and took the viper aropund for a look at the destruction.
"Caprica City, Again. We should have been able to stop this! we had the right plan! How can it happen again? By the lords!" Edan was stunned, Silent tears fell down his face. All at once a desperate plan unfolded in his mind. Ramming his Viper straight up into that Mega Pulsar. Maybe, if power levels were just right, he could cause an overload to take out the entire baseship. one Viper, giving everything to just.........
But no, the Raiders that had been engaing Edan's force, and the Caprican Home Guard were now all over the city. There was no way to get a viper close to that baseship now. But Guinevere knew what he had to be thinking.
"Ensign Edan, we have got to get going. We can fall back to the Calisto. Reform with the Squadrons. It's the best we can do now." there was planty of emotion in her voice as well, and Edan knew she was right.
Take the lead Guinevere, I'll follow and cover you from behind. The battle's not over. Not yet"

Skyler led a small group of Vipers, the Battle had been going fairly well for the Colonial Forces, and Victory was within reach, then his scanner picked it up and before he could wrap his mind around it, Logan spoke…
"Brik! Warbook!"
"Affirmative! Baseship, cresting the planet. But that means...."
She didn't wait for him to finish. "Callisto, we have TWO baseships. I repeat, two baseships. Raiders have been launched and we are engaging now."
As Skyler finished off the Raiders in front of him, he turned and ordered the Vipers that had followed him to engage the new threat and the Raiders they would be expelling into the fray. He knew his history, he knew the scanner data, if he hadn’t of before this absurd mission, he had studied every scrap of information they had from all scanner telemetry of the holocaust and even captured Cylon data. There was only the one Baseship at Caprica. The second Baseship should not be here, but it was. Had the visions from the Beings of Light been some trick to destroy humanity. Had the future Cylons found a way to lay a trap in the past to prevent the Galactica’s escape and in the same stroke, seal the fate of all those born since then? If they managed to destroy the two Baseships, would a third or fourth one show up to take its place? Regardless, he had Pilots that would die trying to save a hopeless dream, and he had Vipers that would soon need to refuel and rearm if they had any hope of surviving.
“Callisto Strike Commander to all Vipers, keep a watch on your fuel levels, check in with your flight leaders and break off and refuel and rearm as needed.”

Glancing at his scanners and glancing around from his cockpit, Brik noticed and understood that many pilots were being forcced to withdraw from his admittedly less-than-stellar-but-still-necessary plan to attack the 2nd basestar head on.
By the Lords, he was furious!
But the true fuel behind his anger was simple frustration that a good plan was being blown to bits by cold, hard reality. But those pilots were doing the right thing and reacting to the entire battle. He should follow suit.
"Pilots, abort the attack on the second basestar, we cannot repel firepower of that magnitude!" On my mark, drop to the deck, break off into your triads and engage the raiders that are attacking the surface...but stay out of the way of that basestar's turrets and keep an eye on your fuel and combat systems. A n d . . . break!"

The plan had worked, the Battlestars at Cimtar got their Vipers in the air and intercepted the Raiders well away from the Fleet, but more than that, Apollo had intercepted Zac’s wounded Viper and saved his brother and at this micron Sheba and the Callisto were saving the Colonies and his mother. All would be made right, at long last….
Athena was watching the screen as the combined Vipers from the Fleet and those from the future Galactica were mopping up the remaining Raiders. Damage reports were streaming in, all minor. The early warning had worked. Then to her horror, new blips appeared on her screens. Her Brother was standing looking over her shoulder….
“Commander, something is wrong. All the intelligence we have never pointed to this. We have more Raiders inbound…. Unable to count. Picking up approaching Base Ships on the outer edges of our scanners… one, two, and three more. At least five.”
The Commander turned to his second in command… Colonel how long before the Raiders are able to engage?”
“Sir, we are recalling our Vipers now, but I am afraid the Raiders will have 20 centons to do what ever damage they can before we will have Viper Support…”
Athena stood up and screamed… “Commander, two more Base Ships have entered scanner range, they have launched long range weapons. They will impact Galactica in 10 microns.”
“Open positive shields; get me a channel to the Galactica”
As the shields open the entire bridge crew watched in disbelief as the energy weapon struck the Galactica knocking her askew in space. Her lights flickered and came back on.
The comm. Channel crackled… “Adama to Apollo, are you ok?

Apollo choked back the burning fumes that assaulted his airways as he picked himself up off the floor of the Bridge of the Galactica. The speakers in his headset crackled. It was the voice of his father….
“Apollo are you alright?”
Across the stars Adama was staring at the Galactica he would die on while trying to reach Earth. He had briefly read the report transmitted by his Son, the Son from the future before the Cylon attack interrupted him. As hard as it was to believe, it was right here in front of him. He glanced to his Son standing on the Bridge beside Athena. Both exchanged worried looks.
Commander Apollo scanned the Bridge for a micron as damage reports flooded into the nerve center of the Great War Ship. He opened a channel to his Father…
“Yes I am ok, we took a good hit, will let you know how badly in a centon.”
The other Battlestars had engaged the incoming Base Ships, and were taking heavy damage. Apollo stared in shock… It didn’t happen this way.
“Commander, we have taken a direct hit on our port side. We vented several compartments and crew losses are unknown at this time. Energizers are online at this time but operating at 80% power.”
Everyone’s attention was diverted when Adama’s Galactica took a hit from a Base Ship.
“Sir, new reports, two sections of the ship that were not damaged just morphed or something. They look like they took a huge hit and have been repaired…. I don’t understand it…. Compartment Omega 4-56 is sealed, reading a collapsed bulkhead inside. The damage is consistent with the hit the past Galactica just took.”
“Apollo to Adama, you have to get the Galactica out of harms way.” He turned to the helmsmen “Flank speed, put us between those Base ships and the Fleet, we have to protect Galactica prepare to have Zac launch and return to his Father…”
