"My security code? ? ?" Skyler looked puzzled at the Major... "My code is a Squadron level code, barley able to gain entrance to the cell block, let alone the cell doors, and with the nature of the guest in the Brig, I am sure security would have changed the access my codes had to the main door as well.."
"Not your codes Skyler, the ones Sheba 'assigned' to you..." Buellah stated looking for any signs that he was hiding anything. "Those codes were used to open up the cell block, override the alarm systems, and Security was fed a video loop of Brie sleeping. We checked the computer logs and the codes Sheba 'assigned you were used, so you better....."
"I didn't use any codes you idiot." Skyler cut him off "Besides, if I did, to what end would it serve? Where would I hide her? She was better off in the Brig, than out. Its not much of a life, but it beats the hades out of hiding in closets and the like. Wake up and look around, we are on a BATTLESTAR, someone of Brie's fame would have a hard time hiding on Caprica, let alone the Callisto...."
"Skyler, we know you were close to Brie... you were her SIC, we will understand if you broke her out, really we will. We will even look the other way, smooth it over, keep it off your record, please, where is she?"
"Have you been sniffing plant vapors or do you have a daggit in your ear....? Read my lips I DID NOT BREAK ANYONE OUT OF THE BRIG!!"
"Ok, YOU didn't, who did you give the codes to? Someone used those codes, and the only two people that knew them were you and the Commander." Buellah stated "We just want to get her back before she gets hurt or anything."
"Hurt? ? ?" Skyler closed the distance to Buellah "HURT? what the Frack do you mean hurt? Who do you think would hurt her?"
"Well, its not that we think anyone will hurt her, its just that she is guilty and responsible for Amy's condition and we didn't want anyone to take action against her" Buellah tried to cover his tracks.
"Buellah, do I look like a first orbit cadet to you? I am not buying your felgercarb.... WHO do you suspect?"
"No one, we just fear for her safety, thats all...."
"Her safety, if you were really worried about that, you would have had Warriors protecting her, not those clowns on Council Security. No, she was thrown into the Brig as bait for something, and if I find out she has been harmed in anyway, and you or anyone else was responsible, no matter how indirectly, well, after I finish my business with Pierce....." Skyler turned to leave.
"Where do you think you are going?"
"To look for Major Brie. If someone is trying to hurt her, I want to find her.... or them first."
Before Buellah could say another word Skyler was gone, checking the power settings on his blaster as he left the room....

After his conversation with Skyler, Major Buellah knew the next person he had to speak with. Putting Major Joey in change of the search’s “home base,” he grabbed a personal comm unit and went to Pierce’s temporary quarters on the Callisto. He knocked twice with no answer. He was about to try his own security code when he noticed that the door wasn’t even locked.
Buellah entered and knew right away that something was wrong. Except for the basics, the room was empty. There was no sign that Pierce or anyone else had been staying there for the past few sectons. No clothes, no papers, no half-eaten meals, nothing. Buellah didn’t remember anyone saying anything about Pierce leaving the Callisto, but that was the only explanation that he could think of.
A few centons later Major Buellah was in the waiting area for outgoing shuttles. Since all transport off the Callisto had been temporarily grounded, it was packed. Pulling rank several times, he made his way to the front and spoke with the woman who seemed to be in charge of the passenger lists. “I’m Major Buellah, on official business for Commander Sheba,” he started. “I need to know, has Major Pierce left the Callisto? Or is he scheduled to do so?”
The woman checked a few things on the computer in front of her. “No,” she replied, “there’s no mention of Major Pierce on any of the passenger lists.”
A young maintenance technician who had been walking by stopped. “Did you say Major Pierce? I saw him get on that last shuttle that departed, a centar before everything was grounded.”
Buellah pulled the young man over to the side for a slightly more private conversation. “Are you sure it was Pierce, not someone who looked like him?”
The man nodded. “Yup. I know exactly who Pierce is. He got my brother thrown out of the Academy a couple of yahrens back. I’d recognize him anywhere.”
“Did you see who else was boarding the shuttle?” Buellah asked.
The man thought. “There were a couple of female security officers, a med tech, but I think it was mostly civilians.”
“Is there anything else you can think of? Anything at all?”
The man nodded again. “There was something that seemed a little bit strange. One of the last things that was brought onto the shuttle was a laundry cart. I had never seen that before, and I’ve seen a lot of strange things going on and off these shuttles.”
“Thank you,” Buellah said. “If you think of anything else, no matter how insignificant, please contact me, or Major Joey on the bridge.”
“Will do,” the man replied.
Buellah returned to the woman at the desk. “That shuttle,” he started, “the last one that launched, where was it headed?”
The woman looked down for a micron. “The Galactica,” she replied.
“I need a copy of the flight plan and the full passenger and crew list, immediately,” Buellah instructed. Somehow he knew that the search for Brie had just become a whole lot harder.

Ever since Brie’s Tribunal Boleman had had little use for the IFB. It seemed to be all that they ever wanted to report on anymore. Wasn’t there anything else going on within the fleet? As the feelings and attitudes towards Brie had changed throughout the fleet because of the outcome of the Tribunal, Boleman felt more and more guilty. But his guilt was starting to take a backseat to worry. Brie had escaped and no where to be found, and his wife had disappeared as well. Maybe the fallout from the Tribunal was just too much for Trula to handle. Maybe she had returned to the Galactica. Maybe he needed to search harder for the note that she just had to have left for him.
“We learned a few centons ago that Boleman himself issued a ship-wide plea to all available personnel onboard the Battlestar Callisto to report to the Commanders Briefing Room.”
“What?” Boleman said out loud. “No I didn’t. Once again they can’t get their facts straight.”
“We have since confirmed that the Callisto IS being searched, but core command is unavailable for comment. Sources onboard the Callisto have informed this reporter that they are, in fact, searching for Major Brie who has escaped from the brig. As of this broadcast, we have been unable to locate Major Pierce for comment, but we suspect that the Chief Opposer will want to…”
“Excuse me…excuse me Yalen,” the news anchor interrupted. “We have a report coming in.” He paused for a moment as he pressed his earpiece and nodded. The anchorman looked directly into the camera, his expression grave. “I have just been informed that we have picked up a distress signal from the Livestock Ship. It is unknown at this time the nature of the distress signal, but we will keep you updated as the information becomes available.”
A distress signal from the Livestock Ship? Something really strange was going on. Searching for Trula’s note would have to wait, Boleman decided to return immediately to the Callisto’s bridge.

Major Buellah had returned to the bridge. He quickly found out that the shuttle in question had never made it to the Galactica, it had unnamed technical problems and had to make an emergency stop on the Agro Ship. The knot in Buellah’s stomach continued to grow. He checked with Commander Sheba, she informed him that they were to continue to treat it as an escape until they had evidence to the contrary.
Before too long Boleman rejoin Buellah on the bridge. Buellah filled him in, and showed him the passenger list for the shuttle. Boleman’s face turned pale. “That name right there,” he said, pointing. “Jemmie.”
“It’s an alias,” Buellah told him. “I’m running all the names through the computer, but I get the feeling that they’re ALL aliases.”
“Jemmie was Trula’s mother,” Boleman said slowly. “She died a few sectars before we officially met. She had lung problems, she couldn’t handle the air quality in the ships.”
“It’s got to be a coincidence,” Buellah said unconvincingly.
“Have you contacted the Agro Ship yet?” Boleman asked.
“No, I was just about to,” Buellah replied. “They need to know that there’s a chance that Brie is there. I’ll put them on alert, allow no ships to land or takeoff without permission from me or from a commander.

Major Buellah, with Boleman next to him, sat in the Commander’s Briefing Room. The necessary equipment had been brought in, he wanted to keep this conversation as private as possible. He knew that false reports were already being spread on the IFB. “This is Major Buellah on the Battlestar Callisto to Captain Suttir of the Agro Ship. Come in, please.”
There was some static, but after some minor adjustments a voice was clearly heard. “This is Captain Suttir, Major.”
Buellah figured that it was best to get right to the point. “Captain, did you have a shuttle land there from the Callisto not too long ago?” There was a pause on the other end. Buellah wished that it was a video transmission, but that wasn’t possible with the portable equipment. “Affirmative, Major. They were headed to the Galactica, but had some technical problems. They stopped here for repairs.”
“Captain, how good is the security on your ship?” Buellah realized that it probably sounded like a strange question.
There was another pause. Maybe Buellah had offended Suttir. “We’re a peaceful ship, Major, but we do have our own security forces.”
“Good,” Major Buellah said. “Captain, I need for you to have them search the shuttle, every inch of it. And then continue to search your entire ship.” Suttir didn’t pause this time. “Why, Major? What are we looking for?”
Buellah hated what he was about to say. A big part of him felt that it was all his fault. “Former Major Brie escaped from the Callisto brig a couple of centars ago. We have reason to believe that she was on that shuttle.”
“Is she armed?” Captain Suttir asked.
It seemed like a reasonable question, although Buellah worried that there might be some hostile feelings towards Brie, given the fact that Amy had grown up on the Agro Ship. “I have no way of knowing, but she’s not the type of person who would take another’s life. Have your forces set for stun.” The was another pause and more static. “Yes, Sir, Major. Anything else?”
“Place your ship on alert. Allow no ships to takeoff or land until the search has been completed, and you’ve checked back with me.”
This time Suttir answered quickly. “But what about our shipments? We have deliveries that need to be made...”
Buellah cut him off. “No takeoffs or landings, Captain. Do you understand?”
“Yes, Major.”
“Good. Major Buellah out.” Buellah turned off his portable unit and gave orders to be informed the micron that Captain Suttir contacted them again. He turned to Boleman. “The search just keeps on growing.”
“If she was able to hide in a transport OFF of the Agro Ship, she could end up anywhere in the fleet. She could remain hidden for yahrens.”

“I wonder how many ships have taken off from the Agro Ship since the shuttle landed,” Boleman said to Major Buellah. “Before the alert.”
“Let’s find out,” Buellah suggested. He stepped out of the Commander’s Briefing Room and talked with Major Joey for a micron. “She’ll have it for us in a centon or two,” he said as he returned.
“It could be a decoy,” Boleman told him. “Brie knows the Callisto as well as just about anybody. She could hide here as long as she wants, and you know as well as I do that there are plenty of people who would be willing to help her.”
“I’m aware of all that,” Buellah said louder than he had intended. “I’m aware of a good many things, like the fact that Pierce also seems to have disappeared.”
“You should have asked Captain Suttir if Pierce was on that shuttle.”
“Frack, you’re right,” Buellah said. “I’ll contact him again.” Buellah set up the connection to the Agro Ship again. “This is Major Buellah...”
“The Agro Ship is on mandatory full alert. All landings and departures have been delayed until further notice. This is a recording.”
“Frack,” Buellah said again. “What is that idiot Suttir thinking, putting on the automated response system? I told him that I’d be back in touch with him.”
“The Agro Ship is a peaceful ship,” Boleman said. “Suttir probably isn’t used to handling crisis situations.”
“Then he shouldn’t be commanding a ship,” Buellah commented.
Major Joey walked in, handed Buellah a piece of paper, and walked out without saying a word. At one time she had liked the man, but since Brie’s conviction she despised him. “How bad is it?” Boleman asked.
Buellah’s jaw dropped wide open. “Between the time that the shuttle landed and the ship was placed on alert, there were fifteen departures. They left for all corners of the fleet.” Buellah shook his head. “Frack.”

Major Joey stuck her head in the Commander’s Ready Room. “Major Buellah, Commander Apollo would like to speak to you. I’ll patch him in here.”
“Thanks,” Buellah replied. He knew this conversation was coming, and wasn’t looking forward to it. “This is Major Buellah, Commander. Boleman is here with me as well.”
“Good,” Apollo’s voice replied. “What’s the latest on Brie’s escape?”
“Well, Sir,” Buellah stammered, “there’s not much to report. The entire Callisto is being searched, but there’s no sign of her. I spoke with Major Skyler, since his codes were used to break her out, and I believe him when he says that he didn’t have anything to do with it. We believe that she may have snuck onto a shuttle that was headed to the Galactica, but stopped at the Agro Ship because of technical problems...”
“The Agro Ship?” Apollo repeated.
“Yes, Sir,” Buellah said. “I’ve been told by a witness that he saw Major Pierce board that same shuttle, although his name isn’t on the passenger list. I’ve placed the Agro Ship on alert, but 15 ships departed before I had a chance to shut them down. Brie could be anywhere in the fleet.”
“The Agro Ship,” Apollo said again. “First the Livestock Ship...it’s all starting to make sense.”
“What about the Livestock Ship?” Major Buellah asked.
“They reported on the IFB that the Livestock Ship had sent out a distress signal,” Boleman added.
Apollo sighed. “Don’t worry about the Livestock Ship, that’s my problem. Just keep up the search for Brie.”
“Commander,” Buellah said slowly, “you don’t think that...”
“I hope not,” Apollo interrupted. “Commander Apollo out.”

Major Buellah saw that Colonial Charybdis had returned to the bridge, and knew that there would be questions to answer. He stepped out of the Ready Room long enough to hear the colonial say “What the frack is going on? Report?”
“Colonial,” Buellah called, “in here. “I’ll try to answer all your questions.” Buellah sat down again and Charybdis took a seat, eyeing the CQ’s commanding officer suspiciously. “Let me tell you right off that I’m heading this investigation under Commander Sheba’s complete authority. She knows what’s going on, as does Commander Apollo. In fact Boleman and I just spoke with him.” Buellah realized that it probably seemed strange that Boleman, a civilian, was involved with a military matter. If only Charybdis knew the whole story.
“So what’s going on?” Charybdis repeated.
“A couple of centars ago,” Buellah started, “an alarm went off in the brig. I responded immediately, and discovered that Brie had escaped. She obviously had help, the guards were drugged. I traced her to the Laundry Room but lost her trail after that. We had already grounded all ships except for a Black Squadron patrol, whose vipers were searched before taking off. We discovered that the timeline might have been off, she might have escaped earlier and snuck onto a shuttle bound for the Galactica. The shuttle had technical problems and landed on the Agro Ship. They’ve since been shut down as well, but fifteen ships had already departed. Brie could be anywhere in the fleet. That’s pretty much the whole story.” Major Buellah knew that there was a LOT more to the story, but until given clearance he was under orders to tell no one, not ever a superior officer.
“And what about the Livestock Ship?” Charybdis asked.
“I don’t know anything about that,” Buellah replied truthfully. “I asked Commander Apollo when I spoke with him, and he told us not to worry about it.” Buellah glance at Boleman out of the corner of his eye and hoped that Charybdis wouldn’t ask any more questions.

Skyler had left Beullah in the office and went to start looking for Brie. He stopped by a computer terminal to access the search roster and to see where Gold Squadron was located at in the search. Several messages poped up on his screen which he quickly placed to one side as he studied the Callisto layouts. The bulk of the Gold Squadron members were assigned search zones not to far from him, Lt's Brik, Wraith and Ike.....
"Thats wierd....?" he mumbled to himself..."I wonder where Logan is... not like her to be to far from Wraith."
A proper search would take sectons, at best, with teams seaching and securing every square inch of the ship with scanners and search daggits, and then there would be the off handed chance she would be able to avoid detection..... As Skyler closed out the search grids, one of the side messages popped back to the top....
Approval for Furlow.... Lt. Logan....... " What the Frack...." Scanning to the bottom was his signature.... Skyler printed the leave papers off the computer to a hard copy, made notes of the file numbers and called Core Command to request the original be sent to Buellah and he grabed his own hard copy and headed towards the bridge..... almost knocking Ike over as he headed out the door, with Brik and Wraith right on his heels.....

Major Buellah was glad that Colonel Charybdis didn't have any more questions. Shortly after Charybdis left he took a peek outside the Briefing Room. Commander Sheba was there, speaking with someone on her monitor. Major Buellah could tell that something was wrong. He and Boleman left the room, hoping to find out what was going on.
