“Attention; people of the Agro Ship. This is Major Pierce, your new Lord and Master. My faithful children have placed several explosive devices on this ship, enough to destroy it completely. I don’t want to hurt anyone, so give yourselves up peacefully. If you do so, you have my word that you won’t be harmed. If you try to put up a fight, you WILL be killed. The fleet is heading in a new direction, with me as their leader. I promise that life under my command will be better than you’ve ever dreamt that it could be. Join us and my vision.
“For those who are too shortsighted to believe in me, consider former Major Brie. With very little effort I was able to convict her of a crime that never even took place, because what happened to poor Captain Amy was just the fortunes of war. At my word Brie was tried, convicted and sentenced. At my word she was kidnapped out of the brig. At my word she will die. Still she believes in the old, antiquated system, a system that has failed her over and over again. What you need to think about is this; if the current military can’t even protect one of its own, how are they going to protect you?
“Life under my control will be so much better. We’ll live on a planet with plenty of room for everyone. These old ships will be disassembled and used to make temporary new homes until permanent structures can be built. The military will be reorganized with my people in place and the Council of the Twelve will be dissolved. The Cylons will no longer be a threat. What no one has told you is the reason we keep battling the Cylons is that Commander Apollo and the other higher-ups in the current military structure keep letting Baltar know our position. They WANT you to think that the Cylons are still a threat, so that we can’t settle down some place and live. They’re following Commander Adama’s foolish dream about Earth. But I will let you know here and now, Earth doesn’t exist. We need to stop following a story made-up by drunken star voyagers, following a myth, following the dream of an old, dead fool.
“And so, good people of the Agro Ship, put down your weapons, your tools, anything that could be used to harm one of my followers. Put your hands on your heads, and give yourselves up. My people will treat you well. They’ll also be more than happy to answer any questions that you might have about the exciting new life that awaits all of us. I look forward to having you join my flock. But if you don’t join me, if you rebel against my leadership, you will die. The choice is yours. And just to show that I am serious about all of this...”

Ange had his message ready, and could not believe the automated response system had been turned on. He keyed in the piggy-back, and prayed that the nearby viper patrol would pick up on it. He sat back for a moment, listening to his message as it played out of a tiny speaker in the comm unit:
Viper pilots, this is security officer Ange aboard the Agro ship. There's a mutiny in progress, I think... Can't afford to let them know I'm onto them. Hostages... Approach on vector five. I've rigged repair bay three to remain open. Hurry! I don't know how long before they detect what I've done. I'll try to meet you there. Lords, protect us all...
He closed down everything he had set up, and listened to Pierce's announcement as he worked his way back to the panel leading to the hallway. He shook his head more than once, unable to believe the felgercarb he was hearing.
"...I look forward to having you join my flock" Pierce was saying. "But if you don’t join me, if you rebel against my leadership, you will die. The choice is yours. And just to show that I am serious about all of this...”
Drawing his pistol, Ange opened the panel and stepped into the hallway. He needed to get to the repair bay and meet the vipers he hoped would be landing there soon.

Logan listened to the droning of Pierce's overconfident voice with disgust. It was all she could do not to draw her blaster and put him out of everyone's misery. In fact, she was still surprised that she had been allowed to keep her weapon at all, but Pierce's ego was so huge and his need for adoration so intense that he saw little threat of resistance, especially from women. Logan had heard the superiority in his voice when Pierce addressed her and the other women. They were his 'sheep' and he gave them no consideration, his mistake from Logan's viewpoint. She knew two women on the bridge of the Agro ship right now that would give him a chance to regret his underestimation of them...herself and Major Brie. And from the looks on that med tech's face when Pierce kept calling her by the wrong name, she was having doubts as well. Logan noticed two things on her control panel almost simutaneously as Pierce continued his speech. The first was an extra carrier wave momentarily attached itself to the automated alert message the Agro Ship was transmitting. She recognized the configuration of a piggyback on the original message. The second thing that was evident was that one of the repair bays was still open. It wasn't supposed to be as the ship had been placed on alert and supposedly sealed. She glanced over at Chip and saw that he was so engrossed in Pierce's rant that he really wasn't paying much attention to the panels. Something was happening that she had a feeling Pierce didn't know anything about. Logan nonchalantly rested her hands on the sensor controls and brought up a reading...there was a Viper patrol heading their way. She brought up her previous screen with a touch of the finger and smiled to herself, "Pierce, old boy, things are about to get very interesting. Now, I just have to figure out a way to let Brie know she has a friend here...so when all Hades breaks loose, she doesn't get her hands on Pierce's blaster and blow me into the next galaxy." She heard Pierce's tone change and listened to his words as he continued. "And just to show you that I am serious about all this..."

There was a small explosion in the middle of one of the fields. The fire was easy enough to put out, Pierce had chosen several people for that purpose. But it made a powerful statement. Comeek watched as the stunned Agro Ship workers dropped whatever they were holding and put their hands on their heads. The New Secret Survival Society already controlled the bridge, they were well on their way to controlling the main body of the ship, soon they would control the fleet. It wouldn’t be long until Master Pierce was in charge, Logan would be his bride, life would be perfect.
A shot rang out, someone screamed, and a man fell, presumably dead. Some dolt had obviously resisted. Although it snapped Comeek out of his daydream he thought the man’s death was a very good thing. Master Pierce and his followers needed to be taken seriously. The New Secret Survival Society wouldn’t be a secret much longer.

Logan's control panel went crazy with blinking lights and an alarm sounded on the bridge. Captain Suttir ran to a panel and looked horrified at Pierce for a micron before regaining his composure. Pierce , a bit too smugly, ordered Chip to turn off the alarm. Logan saw that there had been an explosion in one of the Agro Ship's fields, but oddly enough no damage reports were coming in. She could only imagine how frightened these civilian workers were, which only enraged her all the more. Pierce was definitely a madman and madmen were dangerous. She sat poised, ready for anything and chanced a glance at Major Brie, trying to gauge her response but the Major wasn't facing in her direction. Logan started to feel a slight apprehension at her decision to come on her infiltration mission alone, but there was nothing for it now but to see it through.

“What was that?” Brie asked Pierce, a bit of sarcasm in her voice. “Was that really the best you could do?”
“That was a statement, nothing more, nothing less,” Pierce replied. “There was no reason for anyone to get hurt, I just wanted to let them know that I do indeed have the power to destroy the ship.”
“You’re going to need bigger explosions than that to if you want to do any damage,” Brie said. She was baiting him, hoping to find out more about his plan.
“Don’t you worry your pretty little head about it,” Pierce said. “One of my people made a bomb with more than enough explosive power, and we’ve placed it in the boi...nice try, Brie.”
A chill ran down Brie’s spine. An explosion in the boiler room could indeed start a chain reaction that might very well destroy large parts of the ship. At the very least it could destroy the airlock, causing all the crops to fail. “Nice try for what? I’m just trying to hold a pleasant conversation.”
Pierce turned away from Brie, not saying another word. She glanced at the people around her. Chip seemed to be enthralled with everything that was going on. Millie and Tanya were obviously dangerous, Millie had already killed in cold blood. Both Captain Suttir and Dorn were so nervous that they were shaking. Kyla seemed sad, maybe some of what Brie had said had made its way through to her.
Brie purposely didn’t look at Logan. Somehow she had never pictured their first meeting to be like this. Logan was supposed to have joined Gold Squadron yahrens earlier, but then the Callisto was separated from the fleet before the paperwork went through. She knew more about the lieutenant than she did about most new squadron members, mostly because Brie had all but memorized Logan’s file that night back on the Galactica. That horrible, wonderful, terrible, incredible night.
There was a sound at the door. “Master?” A young man walked in. Brie noticed that he looked first at Logan for several microns, and then a Pierce. Out of the corner of her eye Brie saw a look of disgust on Logan’s face.
“Yes, Comeek?” Pierce replied.
“We’ve rounded up all the workers, Master,” Comeek replied. “There was little resistance. A couple of deaths seemed to make all the others afraid.”
“Fear can be a powerful ally, my son,” Pierce replied.
“We’re holding them in the main recreation area,” Comeek continued. “Huddled together, against a wall.”
“Very good, my son,” Pierce said. “Keep them there until further instructions. Dismissed.”
“Yes, Master Pierce,” Comeek said on his way out.
Pierce clapped his hands once. “Well, boys and girls, do you know what this means?”
“That you’re certifiably insane?” Brie suggested.
“You’d know much more about that than I would,” Pierce said, patting Brie on the top of her head. “No, it means that MY time has finally come. Out with the old, in with the new.” He looked sternly at Captain Suttir. “Contact the Galactica. Now!”
