Here's a real "flipping channels" hit. I thought I recognized John Colicos in a war movie and it turned out to be him. From 1971, the film was called Raid on Rommel with Mr. Colicos backing up Richard Burton in a film about a British raid on Tobruk during World War II. The other person I recognized was Karl-Otto Alberty, who played the Tiger Tank Commander in the square in Kelly's Heroes.

DeForest Kelly, Bones from the original Star Trek, was a guest on numerous TV westerns over the years, but I recently recognized him in an early role from 1950 where he played a very youthful-looking sheriff on The Lone Ranger (Season I, Episode 27, Gold Train). Despite being the first season of the show, it was actually his second guest role, having played another character a few months earlier (Season I, Episode 4, The Legion of Old Timers). Sadly, I saw his first appearance last weekend but didn't even recognize him in it. Kelly played yet another different character in a third episode a couple of seasons later.

I stumbled across John Colicos in another show this morning while getting ready for work in an episode I just read about last night. I couldn't believe the odds but in a season 3 episode of The High Chaparral entitled "Journal of Death", Mr. Colicos plays Mathew Kendel, a former Confederate doctor who lost a number of Union patients in the prison camp where he served as the prison doctor. He is pursued by a former Union prisoner turned marshall who swore to bring him to justice. Victoria is badly wounded in a fight and Kendel has to operate to save her life. It's a good story with a deeper moral meaning and Mr. Colicos did a great job.

Here's an unusual sighting in that I recognized a name without recognizing the actor. The actor's name was Ted Gehring who played Beau Bodeen in the Season 4 episode of The High Chaparral entitled "The Hostage," which aired this morning. I saw Mr. Gehring's name and said he was in Galactica! A quick check and I found that he played Croad en.battlestarwiki.org/wiki/Croadin "The Long Patrol" and he also played a sheriff in an episode of Galactica 1980. The immediately recognizable actor in "The Hostage" was a very young and long-haired Joe Don Baker.
