<Note: This thread begins shortly after the Galactica and Callisto departed to do battle with the Cylon Base Ship.>
"Two Vipers and a shuttlecraft approaching the Fleet," said the flight controller on the Rising Star to the ship's captain. "Their I.F.F. transponders came on a couple of centons ago, and they match those of Major JustinB's Recon One, Major Lucian's Rescue One shuttlecraft, and Captain Stadia's Rescue Two Viper. The other member of the team, an Ensign Dolet, must not have made it, Sir."
Sad to hear of the loss of yet another Colonial Warrior, particularly since the battlestars had just departed a short time before to possibly loose even more brave young Warriors in the ongoing battle with the Cylons, Captain Garshon replied, "Transmit the orders sent by Commander Sheba. The team is to land on the Rising Star and await the return of the battlestars. Express our deepest sympathy on the loss of Ensign Dolet. I'm sure he was a Warrior in the finest sense of the word."
"Yes, Sir," replied the flight controller.
A few meters away, a well dressed young lady scribbled something on her pad, and then rushed out into the corridor. Moments later, she entered the IFB studio on the Rising Star. "Got a hot one!" she called. "We need to break in with this now!" Giving a quick report to the news director, she got approval to do a breaking news update....
"We're interrupting this episode of 'Fleet Sweets," your cooking connection, to bring you this breaking news from the Rising Star. Your reporter, Roxzanna-Rizou."
"Good evening. This is Roxzanna-Rizou, reporting to you live from aboard the Rising Star. We have it from a reliable source aboard the Rising Star that Black Squadron Leader Major JustinB, who departed for a long range reconnaissance mission nearly four cycles ago, has been found and safely returned to the fleet. A rescue mission lead by the Callisto's senior engineer and former Black Squadron leader Major Lucian, departed earlier yesterday to locate and rescue Major JustinB after he did not return on schedule. Fleet oddsmakers had given the rescue mission less than a 10% chance of success, so our sources tell us that a few people who bet on its success have won big. Unfortunately, sources tell us that a Warrior, an Ensign Bollet, was tragically killed on the mission." She pursed her lips as if in pity, then instantly resumed her usual smiling countenance, saying, "IFB News will bring you more information on this breaking story as it becomes available."
"We now rejoin 'Fleet Sweets,' already in progress."
"Quick, get me a vid-cam op," ordered Roxzanna. "We've got to get to the landing bay to get these guys on video as they get out of their ships. They'll be most vulnerable then and might give me some juicy quotes!"
The news director nodded in approval, but she was already on her way out the door anyway....

Dolet looked out the window, watching the Rising Star with interest as it loomed closer and closer. He'd never been on the legendary ship before, but now that he'd made Black Squadron it wouldn't take long until he'd build up furlon time and back pay, and he knew he'd get his chance to try the gaming deck soon enough.
It wasn't the Callisto though. He missed the battlestar, missed the newfound companionship of fellow warriors, and especially missed a certain warrior from Gold Squadron.
Logan.
Just thinking of her got his pulse pounding. He'd never met anyone so beautiful, and he'd actually been talking to her and breaking the ice when some drunken disabled warrior caused a ruckus in the O Club and ruined his chance to get to know her better.
He wondered if she'd even remember him if their paths crossed again.
He quit looking out the viewport, sitting back and closing his eyes instead. The view of the Rising Star was wonderful, but not as wonderful as the picture he was conjuring up in his mind's eye...

(RPG Note: Just wanted to chime in here to set the stage in case things are confusing about the whereabouts of everyone in the fleet.
1. Both the Callisto and the Galactica left the fleet and are hovering above the gas planet trying to destroy the Cylon baseship. The Callisto's Gold and Bronze squadrons are with her fighting the Cylon raiders at that location.
2. Black squadron is patrolling various segments of the rear section of the fleet. They were left behind to peform a rear-guard action while the battlestars are away.
3. Several ships at the rear of the fleet will be handling any landings by Black squadron vipers.
4. Lucian's rescue mission is returning while the battlestars are away and thus, are landing aboard the Rising Star.
Hope this helps!)

On the shuttlecraft, Major Lucian was pleased that the mission was ending. JustinB was safe, as were all those who had gone on the rescue mission. Dolet had had a close call, but seemed to have grown as a Warrior as a result, so the loss of his Viper, while not ideal, seemed a relatively small price to pay.
“Rising Star Control to Shuttlecraft Rescue One, welcome home. Captain Garshon sends his regards and congratulations on retrieving Major JustinB. Orders from Commander Sheba are for you to land on the Rising Star and await the return of the Callisto.”
“Understood, Rising Star,” replied Lucian. “Have your Techs standing by for maintenance and repairs on these Vipers. One of them has some damage, but we’ll need them back in order immediately in case they’re needed for fleet protection.”
“Yes, Sir,” replied the flight controller. “Oh, and Captain Garshon sends his regrets on the loss of the young ensign, Dolet. Stay on course, you’re clear to land. There’s another shuttle coming in right after your group, so I’m switching off to them for a moment. Rising Star Control out.”
Lucian looked over at Dolet, “He could have been talking about the loss of your ship, but I don’t think so….”

Lasting just a quarter of a centar, “Fleet Sweets” was a great background noise during her daily exercise period just after coming off First Shift and getting in her 20 centon run. The interviews with the fleet’s famous, its stars, athletes, Pyramid sharks, and people living through their 25 centons of fame, were mixed with the chef’s easy to fix delicacies that were supposedly easy to make with ingredients that could commonly be obtained in the fleet. Of course, there always seemed to be one or two things that weren’t available onboard ship at the moment, so Mar-nee’ had never had any success duplicating the chef’s recipes. She was just finishing the last of her sit-ups and switching to the bar when a breaking news story was announced.
"We're interrupting this episode of 'Fleet Sweets," your cooking connection, to bring you this breaking news from the Rising Star. Your reporter, Roxzanna-Rizou."
Mar-nee’ paid little attention to the red headed reporter who came on the screen until she heard “A rescue mission lead by the Callisto's senior engineer and former Black Squadron leader Major Lucian—”
Mar-nee’s ears perked up and her eyes turned to the screen. She knew Lucian had gone on a mission, but she didn’t know what it was. Now this was being reported from the Rising Star, her own ship. Her heart raced—
“departed earlier yesterday to locate and rescue Major JustinB after he did not return on schedule. Fleet oddsmakers had given the rescue mission less than a 10% chance of success, so our sources tell us that a few people who bet on its success have won big. Unfortunately, sources tell us that a Warrior, an Ensign Bollet, was tragically killed on the mission. IFB News will bring you more information on this breaking story as it becomes available."
As one of the ship’s comm officers, she was able to quickly confirm that Lucian’s group would be landing on the Rising Star in a matter of centons. Skipping the rest of her exercise routine, she rushed to the turbowash.

The battle was short and decisive. Better yet I came out of it alive. Thats what I thought until I finally ran out of fuel. Luckily for me I was in visual sight of the rescue shuttle. What was left of the inertia got me to the shuttle. After a quick top up and some much needed water, I was ready for my trip back to the fleet.
Once receiving the co-ordinates to the fleet, I punched them in and activated the autopilot. The next thing I knew due to falling asleep was we were headed to the Rising Star. It brought back memories as the Rising Star was the ship I escaped from Caprica. I was the first to land. I was very weak from my ordeal, but once the other viper and shuttle landed I gingerly climbed out of the cockpit. I noticed my viper was beat up, so I asked one of the techs if they could spare the time to repair it. As I did so, I saw Major Lucian accompanied by Ensign Dolet. They were a sight for sore eyes.

On the landing deck of the Rising Star, Roxzanna-Rizou quickly smoothed her fiery red hair, and did a makeup check. “Where’s a mirror when you need one?” she wondered as she quickly ran her hands over her body, smoothing her dress. If all went well in the next few centons, this interview would be really good; viewers love heroes, especially a fallen hero. With properly phrased questions, she’d make sure that young Ensign Bollet was that, even if he really wasn’t. Everybody also loves Colonial Warriors, those who would sacrifice themselves for others. Love them, that is, when the Fleet was in danger, like now, or after they’d done something really great, initially at least, until the adrenalin wore off. Now, this was one of those triple witching times when all those things came together—who could ask for more? Yes, she’d show that witch Zerra, her rival for the next IFB news anchor opening, a thing or two about how to get a great story, even if she had to help make up parts of it herself!
She watched in eager anticipation as first the Vipers then the shuttle settled on the landing deck on the Rising Star.
* * *
Getting out of the shuttle, Lucian saw JustinB and Stadia a short distance away. He threw up a fist with a big grin toward JustinB and gave Stadia a thumbs up, too. Since they’d been exposed to space during Dolet’s transfer, and might have picked up some unknown virus or organism when the shuttle was open, they quickly moved to the decontamination chamber. As soon as the process was complete, they stepped out and Lucian gave JustinB a big bear-like hug. “It’s great to see you in one piece, buddy!” said Lucian patting JustinB on the back. As they separated, the other members of the team moved in for handshakes and hugs. Lucian was surprised to see a number of people gathering around them, including a striking red-head, who looked somewhat familiar, who was approaching. Then, in the distance, he saw another face, and he smiled.
* * *
“This is Roxzanna-Rizou, reporting to you live from the landing deck of the Rising Star, where Black Squadron Leader Major JustinB has successfully returned to the Fleet after it was thought he had been lost. Major Lucian, the senior engineer on the Battlestar Callisto, led a rescue mission to help bring Major JustinB home. They were joined by some others, including a young Colonial Warrior named Ensign Bollet who gave his life unselfishly in the effort. They’re just coming out of decontamination now, joining each other to celebrate their success, and, I suspect, to lament the loss of that fine young Warrior. Let’s see if we can hear what they’re saying….”
She stepped forward a few more steps, and stuck the microphone out toward the group of Warriors.

I was glad to be back with the fleet. After a long time in decontamination, I met up with the rescue team I was Just about to thank them when I saw some media woman and a camera come our way.
"Frack, I just want to eat freshen up and get some rest."

Congratulations and backslapping were indeed being swapped among the assembled Warriors, but Roxzanna-Rizou was disappointed to hear that they were not discussing the military aspects of the mission and was shocked to hear that they weren't lamenting the loss of Ensign Bollet. They were even discussing getting temporary quarters and getting some rest as if nothing had happened! How arrogant these bloody Warriors could be! She gritted her teeth at the memories of a couple of past experiences with Warriors who were more arrogant and boastful than skilled. She had to shake up this party. Moving up a bit more, one of the Majors was closest, with the one she identified as Major JustinB next to him. By process of elimination, she identified the first as Major Lucian, the rescue team leader. She didn't recognize the others.
"Excuse me, Major Lucian, Roxzanna-Rizou with IFB News, broadcasting live to the Fleet. Welcome home, Sir. What can you tell me about this mission, and what happened that led to the death of one of your mission members, an Ensign Bollet?"
Lucian turned his head to the right for a quick glance at JustinB, giving him an arched eyebrow, and then at the others. Turning back to the red-headed beauty, he replied, with a slight edge to his voice, "Ma'am, we feel very fortunate that the mission was successful and that Major JustinB, a great Colonial Warrior, is back with us. As far as any details we can share, this was a top-secret military mission, so I'm sorry, but we just can't tell you any more than that. Regarding the reported death of one of our team members," Lucian said, staring at the woman, "I'm sure you are perfectly well aware that, in the death of a member of the Colonial Military, military policy is to first contact family members regarding the deceased. To break such news to the Fleet like you just did would be entirely unprofessional and entirely out of line! Fortunately, in this case, every member of the team that went out on this mission did his or her job, did it well, and came home alive and safely. Furthermore, we didn’t have an ensign named Bollet with us. Now, if you’ll excuse me.” Turning to the other members of his team, he said, “Guys, I’ll see you later." He made his way through the still gathering crowd, away from the reporter.
Roxzanna-Rizou's face reddened, creating a sort of contrasting shade to her hair. Oh! That Warrior was one of those know-it-alls, a real bad one! She’d get him back—and soon. For now, she had an interview to complete, while the Fleet’s eyes were turned to her. She shifted to Major JustinB and said in her sweetest, most controlled voice, “Major JustinB, how does it feel to be back home safely after having been given up for lost?”

The reporter shifted to me and said in her sweetest, most controlled voice, “Major JustinB, how does it feel to be back home safely after having been given up for lost?”
"Well all I can say is I knew there was a risk of me not returning, but that is a chance every warrior takes when he or she t goes solo. The mission I undertook itself is Classified up to the razooo. I would like to think that I can be as Great as Major Lucian one day, and..." the reporter went to turn away as she wasn't happy with my answers. I then gently grabbed her b the shoulder making sure it wasn't seen on camera and continued..
"as I was saying I would like to think that I can be as Great as Major Lucian one day and I wish to thank him and the rescue party for coming to ;look fr me. I was just about dead when they found me. People of the fleet, you can continue to believe in you safety in the knowledge that we will not let you down. These people here with me now sacrificed their lives to bring me home. For now I am happy to be home among family and friends and I hear the Captain of this fine vessel has placed aside some comfortable quarters for my fellow warriors and me and I intend to use it."
