When I had landed, I downloaded all the sensor readings I gathered while chasing the mysterious craft. When it finished downloading, I climbed out of my viper. My crew chief Zane was happy to see me.
"Major, you are a sight for sore eyes. We thought we had lost you. Best thing yet, is that there was a wager on whether you would return or not." he said.
"Is that right chief?" I asked.
"Don't worry Sir, I placed fifty cubits on your return,"was his reply.
"I'm glad I didn't disappoint you by not returning chief."
I made my to decontamination three. Once completed I made my way to the bridge. On the way there, I was stopped numerous times wishing me well that I returned.
On the bridge it was pretty busy, so I walked around to find Colonel Charybdis or Commander Sheba to inform them of the run in with the unidentified ships.

As all the final preparations were being made, Major Justin arrived on the bridge. He was a sight for sore eyes to finally have the Black squadron CO onboard.
He came over when he saw the Commander and I, "Commander, Major Justin reporting in."
Sheba looked over at him. "Major, Colonel, in the war room." She motioned us in and Major Justin and I followed her in. We were looking forward to the Major's report...

Seeing the Colonel and the Commander on the bridge, I made way over to them. "Commander, Major Justin reporting in."
Commander Sheba looked over at me. "Major, Colonel, in the war room." She motioned us in and Colonel Charybdis and I followed her in. I could see they were looking forward to the my report.
As you already know, my mission consisted of joining up with Major Lucian on the refueling shuttle then close on the Zeldav Noxxe and escort her back to the fleet. On the refueling phase it was quite straight forward. That all changed when we arrived to escort the Zeldav Noxxe. Her captain, Captain Lee asked me aboard for a one on one meeting. He reported that he believed either an individual or group was trying to sabotage the mission. He said that there were problems in the mining operation and operations on board ship. There were unauthorized transmissions, but couldn't localise who sent them or why. They finally succeeded in obtaining and refining enough tylium for a few ships, or a little bit for a number of ships, but it took a lot more effort than anyone would have ever guessed, due to the problems. So he guessed it was sabotage, but had no evidence of it." I paused as I pulled the data disc from my pocket.
"Go on Major," Commander Sheba replied.
What made the escort trip back to the fleet even more interesting was what happened soon after I left the Zeldav Noxxe. I had just gotten into position when I picked up four unidentified craft on my scanners that appeared to be shadowing us. I broke out of formation to investigate." I put the disc in to help me further with my brief. "As you can see from the telemetry I gathered in this investigation, they had no IFF codes. When I turned on my war-book, it was being jammed by the unidentified craft. I just get into visual range and they appeared to look like vipers but before I got closer they hightailed it out of there. I made the decision to return to the escort duty and not follow them just in case it was a ruse. From that point on there was no further contact until we reached the fleet."

Sheba nodded, "Good report, Major JustinB. I hate to say it, but this news doesn't surprise us. Major Lucian reported something similar on his return from your rendezvous, and a check turned up a couple of recent, somewhat similar unexplained sightings." Turning to the Colonel Charybdis, she added, "Something's going on, Colonel. Let's have the Fleet's flight controllers put on a quiet alert to look out for these 'birds.' We need to find out who and what they are without tipping our hand that we're looking for them."
She made a couple of notes on her pad, then looked back to JustinB. "By the way, JustinB, welcome home, it's good to have you back. We were very worried about you for a while, so we're really glad to have you back safely, and your team as well. Get with Major BatGal on your way to get some rest. We're about to have Gold and elements of Bronze invade a powered-down Cylon Base Ship to obtain more fuel. The amount returned on the Zeldav Noxxe helps, but it's not enough to get us completely out of our current crisis. Black Squadron is currently on reserve, but will be swapping out with the remainder of Bronze Squadron on patrol and close-in flight duty making sure that our stalled Cylon Base Ship stays stalled, and is ultimately destroyed after we get our folks, and our fuel, out of there." She rose and extend her arm, clasping arms with him, and said, "Yes, JustinB, it's good to have you home."

I quickly left the meeting with the Major and Commander and issued the order for all of the fleet's flight controllers to keep their scanners on full time and report anything unusual at once. If there are more Cylons out there waiting for us, this would be really bad...
A quick thought came across my mind, what if all of this was an elaborate trap? What if the base ship stalled on purpose? It was my duty to bring this up to the attention of Sheba, just in case...

After the meeting with Commander Sheba and Colonel Charybdis, I made my way to my quarters. I sat at my desk and opened up my communication file. There were many messages including the one Brie sent me. As they could wait I laid down on my comfortable bed and before I knew it I fell asleep. Five centars later I woke up with a start. I was covered with sweat and was a bit on the nose. I went to the turbo flush then had a long relaxing shower in the turbo wash. After drying myself and getting into a new uniform, I went back over my messages. I noticed that we had a new member, an Ensign Kaneli. I saw that in my absence that Captain Randrius had placed Ensign Kaneli on Short Range Patrol. I made a note to welcome the new Ensign when he returned. My stomach started to rumble so I decided to make my way to the Officers Mess and get something to eat. Hopefully some of my squadron would be there to talk to.

Dolet was in the officer's mess chowing down when he noticed Major JustinB walk in. Dolet still felt like he was trespassing in areas like this, but he was a warrior now, and if he said so himself, a pretty good one.
JustinB got some food and sat down at Dolet's table.
"You look better, sir" Dolet observed. "Got some rest I take it?" He leaned closer. "If you don't mind my asking, what's the word from upstairs? About the possible sabotage and those unidentified ships that shadowed us?"

"Nothing much Dolet. But whatever/whoever they were, I am sure the Commander will deal with it." It was a part lie. I knew Commander Sheba would be right on the Unidentified craft, but the acts of sabotage had her worried.
Before Dolet could say something I continued. "For me being rested, I sure am. I sure rather my bed than sleeping in a viper cockpit. Which reminds me Dolet, I require your presence in my office in about say, one centar. Till then, eat up, tend to your viper and I will see you in my office."
Leaving Dolet to his meal, I made my way to the Gold Squadron Office. I knocked on the door but there was no answer. I was a little disappointed as I was hoping to catch up with Brie. Making my way to the office, I wondered what Brie was up too and what she wanted to talk to me about. Sitting back finally in my chair after all this time was relaxing. I punched a few keys and found what I wanted. Filling it out gave me great pleasure.

Dolet picked at his food, wondering what it was that JustinB wanted to see him about. It couldn't be good. The major could have just told him while they ate if it wasn't something serious.
It must be about the viper he lost while defending the shuttle, Dolet wondered. The viper had run out of fuel on him, and then had to be destroyed before he could find out exactly why this had happened.
Dolet set down his fork and pushed his dish away. Somebody must have found something. Probably that IFB reporter. She'd let him go on and on before he realized what she was doing. He hadn't bothered to see the report air, and what she had done to the editing of it. Too bad too. She was quite beautiful, but unfortunately only looked that way. Inside she was heartless and out to make a name for herself. No wonder people were shy of the media.
Lesson learned, Dolet thought.
He got up, got rid of his plate, and headed out into the hallway. Since he hadn't been assigned a permanent viper yet since the loss of his last one and the one he'd used last was properly taken care of already, he headed straight for JustinB's office.
So ends the rapid rise of Ensign Dolet, he thought to himself. Well, he'd cleaned his plate like a pro, maybe if he got assigned kitchen duty as punishment it wouldn't be so bad....
He reached JustinB's door, paused to straighten his uniform, then knocked....

"Come on in Dolet" I said out loud knowing it could only be Dolet.
Dolet walked in very nervously. I chuckled to myself due to guessing Dolet thought he was in trouble due to the loss of his viper.
Snapping to attention, "Ensign Dolet, reporting as ordered Major."
"At ease Lieutenant," I replied while looking down at some paperwork.
"I beg your pardon Sir?" he replied with a stupid look on his face.
"You heard me Lieutenant, at ease or do I have to place you on Long Range Patrol till you do I ask."
Dolet quickly stood at ease.
"I asked you to report to me for two reasons. The first being that I would like to tell, I have been very impressed with your performance since you joined the Squadron. You have been placed in some sticky missions and you have come through with flying colours. Your aren't due for promotion for a while, but due to circumstances call it a field promotion. You are hereby granted the rank of Lieutenant with all privileges and responsibilities. Congratulations." I lent over and shook his hand.
"I don't know what to say Major"
"Say nothing. Your promotion has been filed through Major Lucian, but regards to how long it takes you are officially promoted. Secondly, I remembered just after I left you in the mess that you didn't have a viper. I have just been going over my list of messages which has been piling up in my absence. In one of them, Captain Randrius informs me we have a few new Scarlett Class Vipers. Gold Squadron got the bulk but we managed to get a couple. This one is now yours so take care of it. Dismissed."
