At first Artus couldn't decide if his head really hurt or not. But that didn't last very long.
He was positive now. His head hurt. A lot.
So gently he decided to open one of his eyes, to see if that would make a difference. As usual, that turned out to be a bad idea.
He found himself staring into a big white light.
"Oh, no, not again..." he thought.
But then the light moved, and he felt somebody lift up his eyelid.
"He seems to be recovering" a gentle voice said.
Artus was looking at an attractive medtech standing next to his bed. Making the best of the situation he put on his most charming smile. He opened both his eyes, ignoring the pain for a micron, and said to her; "Look, if you want, I can move over. There's plenty of room..."
The medtech's face turned sour.
"Oh, no you don't!"she said; "I know what you did."
Artus was puzzled. What he did? He tried to remember.
"Now you just lay back, "the medtech said; "and I'll go tell them you're awake".
With that she turned and walked away.

Artus was searching his memory but had a hard time remembering anything else but his name.
After a few microns the medtech came back in.
"Eh, excuse me, miss.." Artus said.
She gave him a stern look again.
"Before you siad you knew what I did. Is it possible to tell me what I did that was so bad?"
The medtech sighed. She gave Artus another stern look, but decided to tell him anyway.
"When you were in here the other day, you touched one of my friends in a very inapropriate manner. She was very upset."
Artus scratched his head. It certainly sounded like something he could have done.
"Well, then I apologise to you and I will apologise to your friend if she'll talk to me."
The medtech now gave Artus an angry look.
"Don't think your getting away with it that easy. The poor girl is traumatised! She keeps muttering that she is all alone."
Artus shook his head. He knew he had a way with women, but this was the first time that he had apparently had such an impact. He was going to have to be a little more careful next time.
He decided to change the subject.
"Eh, right. By the way, would you mind telling me why I'm in sickbay?"
The medtech smiled. It wasn't a pleasant smile.
"You were shot."
"I was shot? By the Cylons?"
"No, " the medtech replied, with an even bigger smile; "by major Brie."

Artus' jaw dropped.
"Major Brie shot me?"
The medtech shrugged.
"Apparently it was an accident. Even though if you ask me you deserved to be shot."
Artus still couldn't believe it.
"Major Brie accidentally shot me? How did that happen? Major Brie is an excellent shot?"
Artus held his breath and tried to stop himself from saying that she was almost as good as he was, but he remembered just in time that it was probably not a good idea to hit on this medtech right now.
"Apparently there was a weapon malfunction. She wasn't aiming at you."
"Then waht was she aiming at?"
"A crawlon. The things were trying to infest the ship again. But major Brie saved the ship again."
"Ofcourse she did.."Artus mumbled.
This seemed to truly infuriate the medtech.
"Now you listen up, flyboy! Hotshots like you should take an example in major Brie. That woman has single handedly saved this ship on many occasions. But unlike your type, she doesn't constantly cause trouble. If you ask me, if it wasn't for commander Sheba and major Brie you boys would have us all captured by the Cylons by now."

The door to Artus’ room was partially opened. Brie knocked and stuck her head in. She saw a medtech standing next to the bed, a sour look on her face. He must be recovering, looks like he’s up to his old ways, Brie thought. She tried not to feel guilty about the shooting, it had been the only way to free Artus from the evil that had possessed him. “Any chance he could have a visitor?” Brie asked.
“Major!” the medtech replied. “Come in, I was just leaving. But don’t stay long, he needs his rest.” The medtech left, closing the door behind her.
Brie pulled up a chair next to the bed and sat down. “Just so you know, this conversation is totally off the record. If anyone asks, I’ll swear that it never happened. The official story is that I was shooting at a crawlon and the trajectory was off on my weapon. Officially the whole thing was accidental. I think it’s best that no one finds out what really happened.”

Artus sat up in the bed.
"Officially? Major, why do I have the feeling that I'm not going to like this?"
He groaned.
"It already seemed like an unlikely story that you accidentally shot me. Besides I was already wondering how a shot could cause the kind of scar I have in my face right here."
Artus ran his hand over the scar on his cheek. Then something dawned on him.
"Hey, major, don't tell me you shot me on purpose..."
He flashed Brie one of his broad grins that he always seemed to use after he thought he had made an exceptionally funny joke.

Brie sighed. Artus' grin told her that this conversation wasn't going to be easy. "I've been handling a sidearm since before you were born, of course I shot you on purpose." Artus looked genuinely surprised. "I had to, you attacked me, but don't worry, I won't hold it against you. As for that scar on your face, I have no idea how you got it. Do you remember anything at all about when you returned to the Callisto?"
Here we go again... Brie couldn’t help thinking.

"I attacked you?"
Artus was feeling more than surprised. Totally confused came closer to an accurate description. When he thought about it, he hadn't really thought about how he ended up in sickbay in the first place. He just knew that he suddenly woke up in sickbay and hadn't really given it much thought.
This in itself was actually strange, since usually he would analyse every situation he was in, as he had been trained to do. Every Colonial Warrior always knew where the exits where after he walked in to a room. Every Colonial Warrior knew that when he found himself in an unexpected situation the first thing to do was analyse how he got there and find a solution on how to get out. Every Colonial Warrior knew that any situation could be a possible Tygran trap.
That wasn't right. Everything could be a possible Cylon trap. What are Tygrans?
As those thoughts went through Artus' head something suddenly occured to him about what Brie had said. She said that she had been handling a sidearm since before he was born. Was she serious or was it just a figure of speech. Artus started to wonder how old Brie actually was. He looked up and down her figure appreciatively and everything still seemed to be pointing upward.
Artus grinned again as he realised he must have been silent for a while now. The major was probably just trying to cheer him up. That must be it. Good for moral and all that. He couldn't help thinking that he had just stumbled on something important, but never mind that.
"You know major, you almost had me there..." Artus said with a rakish smile as he made an effort not to stare at Brie's breasts.

"Yes, I do have them," Brie said without blinking. "I also have all the other normal body parts that make me female. I happen to be one quarter Gemonese, which some people would say makes me prudish, but I am personally thankful for it because it tends to make me immune to the effects of men who are not nearly as charming as they seem to think that they are.” She half grinned at Artus with that comment before continuing. “And believe it or not, I’m actually involved with someone.” Brie wondered why she even said that, making one date wasn’t exactly a commitment. “Sort of. Anyway, we can continue to discuss my physiology if you’d like, but let me warn you, if you don’t stop staring I might feel compelled to shoot you for a third time.”

Artus looked up so he could look at Brie's face.
He even managed to 'almost' blush.
"I'm sorry about that major, I was trying to gauge your age, and those..."
He hesitated.
"Eh, are well, as good a sign as anything..."
Then he suddenly realised what Brie had said.
"Third time? You shot me two times already?"
You could tell Artus was getting really confused again.
"What happened? Did you not do enough damage the first time? Or was it simply that you were trying to get rid of your frustration? Don't get me wrong major, but usually you're not known for shooting those under your command. On purpose anyway..."

"Of course it was on purpose," Brie replied. "As I said, I've been handling a sidearm since before you were born. And just so you know, there are easier ways of finding out my age, like asking. But that's beside the point. You really don't remember?" Artus shook his head. Brie pulled her chair a little bit closer. "The first time my weapon was set for stun. You were about to go charging into Amy's surgery. Still no news on that, by the way. Of course I couldn't let you interrupt, so I shot once. You brushed off the effects pretty well, and we went to talk. That's when you attacked me, and I shot the second time. And that's how you ended up here. But I know that it wasn't your fault, none of it was, and you and I need to make sure we have our stories straight if we're ever going to get you back on active duty."
