"uh. Colonel. I think you'd better just take it easy," the med tech replied not sure what to make of this conversation. "I think I'll get Cmdr. Sheba." He quickly left me alone.
I laid back on the bed. What in world was this? Why was I on some mythical battlestar? I needed to find out what the frack was going on...

"You guys have no clue what Bulk-up is like" Hush said flatly. "What kind of guy he is..."
He looked at Logan, Skyler and Brik before turning away and becoming lost in his own thoughts.
Logan was puzzled by the tone of his voice and she couldn't help but be a bit hurt by it. The way he said it made her think that she was right. All the comraderie they had shared prior to the mission seemed to have been erased in a single micron. She tried to rationalize that he was going through a lot right now, with so many members of Bronze hurt and worse. Her own Suadron had been lucky.
That must be it... Gold had no heavy losses but Bronze had been devastated on the mission. Hush must be feeling that Gold would revert to the perceived attiude that Bronze had about them before all this started. The mission had been a great chance for the squadrons to meld and for Bronze to see that Gold wasn't superior, just another squadron of Warriors doing what they had to do to survive.
But it wasn't that simple, she felt like screaming at him. Couldn't he see that it wasn't a testament to Bronze's weakness that had made them suffer the losses they had. It was luck. By the Lords, it could have been any of Gold just as easily and almost was.
She sighed heavily and looked at Skyler. He shrugged and reached over to pat Logan on the shoulder, almost as if to say, "Let it go, dear friend. He has to heal in his own way."
Thoughts were racing through her mind now. Of things she could say to Hush to reassure him, but she kept her silence. He doesn't want to talk to Gold now...no matter what I thought before. All she could do was hope Ally and Janey's conditions improved and that Hush would understand that by their actions on the Baseship, they had forever changed the reputation of Bronze Squadron. They would no longer be joked about as the solium-leak detection squad, but as true heroes who, through relentess determination and bravery above and beyond the average Warrior, had succeeded in a mission that everyone thought was impossible. The storming of a Baseship, the return of its computer core data and the acquisition of needed fuel for the Fleet.
Logan's thoughts were interrupted as Lt. Baris re-entered the room with Commander Sheba at his heels. He was listing the Warrior's conditions for her as she stopped at the foot of Skyler's bed. He sat up a little straighter as she addressed him. "Captain, welcome home. I don't know how you did it, but that was some return trip."
She looked at Logan and Brik and turned to acknowledge Hush as well. "I can't believe any of you made it back in one piece. But, we have the computer core data and have sent it over to the Galactica for them to start work on. I'd be most interested in hearing about the mission, if you feel up to it."
Logan smiled. Even if Skyler didn't feel up to it, she knew there was nothing that was going to be able to stop him from telling the story.

I stood up carefully and rubbed my aching head. I stepped outside the room and wandered about. Several people nodded and saluted and said something perfunctory like, "Colonel," and such but I didn't recognize any of them.
I passed by another room which had the door slightly open. Inside I could see a young woman on her bed sitting up. I looked at the chart on the outside of her door, it said 'Cpt. Amy, Gold Squadron.'
Maybe she knew what was going on around here. I knocked and stepped in her room. "Excuse me? I was wondering if you could help me?" I asked her.
She looked up and saw me...

Haidee waited to hear from Holodoc and she just shook her head.
"Sorry lieutenant, you can't help in here. I'm sorry I can't stop, they need my help!"
Haidee watched as the medstaff scrambled around the injured. Glancing over the injured, Haidee noticed a lot of her squad mates from Gold laying there. Guilt ripped at her heart. She spun around, putting the sight to her back. Fighting back the tears, her hands clung together.
The voices and cries in the medlab ripped and echoed in her head. Closing her eyes and stumbling out, Haidee retreated. But she stopped and looked back. Her voice could not be heard.
Look at them! Look at what you failed at again! Her voice was harsh and scolding. But it was only heard by herself. Seriously, what kind of warrior are you?! Not a good one.
Why are you even here?!
Not sure.
Look at them! Take a good look at them!
Her eyes couldn't fight the tears anymore. Turning she fled the room. Sliding on against the wall to the ground outside of the medlab she hid in her hair.
I've failed them. I couldn't break this I couldn't just speak... I ... I failed them.
Pulling herself up, she set out to find Major Brie.

Holodoc had been on the way on her way down to where Lazant was located so that she could deal with him and give the MedTech that had been working on him a break from this particular troublesome patient. She knew that things were going to be a challenge the moment she walked into the area where Lazant was located that she would more than likely be getting an ear full from him. Holodoc had already heard that he was insisting on talking with Commander Sheba.
Holodoc felt bad when she had indicated to Haidee when she came into MedLab that she didn't have anything for her to do in a way of being able to help out some right then. She knew that Haidee wanted to help out in some way, but she wasn't sure what she could do at the moment since she didn't talk much at all. Holodoc started back heading towards where Lazant was located and as soon as she heard the racket that he was making and going off on the MedTech, Holodoc had second thoughts on maybe having Haidee help out some in helping calm this particular patient down some.
Turning back the way she had just come, Holodoc rushed out of MedLab in hopes of being able to catch up with Haidee before she got to far from MedLab and be able to talk her into coming back inside to help out some. Luckily Holodoc was able to catch up to Haidee before she had gotten all that far down the corridor.
Holodoc ran down the corridor to where Haidee was located and placed a hand on her shoulder causing her to turn towards her with a questioning look on her face. "I was about to go into the area where Captain Lazant was located to see how he was doing when I realized that there might be a way you could help out some. He isn't a happy camper so to speak right now and I thought that you might be able to help out in getting him calmed down some so that we can treat him without having to knock him out so to speak." Holodoc could tell that Haidee was a bit hesitant on it but she knew that she would be able to figure out a way to help out some with this particular patient. "Come on, you will be fine," Holodoc said as she lightly tookd Haidee's arm and dragged her back toward MedLab.
It didn't take them long to get back to MedLab and then walk back into the craziness going on inside currently. Holodoc continued to lead Haidee towards the location on where Captain Lazant was located. Once they reached the area where Captain Lazant was located, Holodoc turned towards Haidee. "I"m sure you will be able to help figure out a way to calm him down." Holodoc then turned back towards the door opening it up and walking into the exam area where Captain Lazant was still yelling at the MedTech.

Haidee walked back in with a look of confusion. She walked over to the patient that was rather noisy and verbal. She looked up at Holodoc and pointed to herself then to him. Holodoc nodded. Haidee shrugged and looked over Lazant. She slowly moved her hands in a hovering motion over his body. She concentrated on "drawing the pain" to herself. An old healing method used to calm people down. Lazant struggled and started to shout again.
"Let me up! I need to see Sheba!" Lazant struggled against Holodoc's hands. Haidee took in a deep breath as her eyes widened.
"shhhhhh" was all that could be heard. A soft whisper.
"Don't tell me to hush! Oh son of a... something for the pain already!" He kept going on. Haidee looked up at Holodoc and smiled as she put a hand gently over his mouth.
"shhhhh" was heard again.
His voice fell silent as he listened to her voice.
"concentrate on my voice only. I'm here to help not to hurt you. Be still, breathe deep." her voice was soft and quiet.
Her hair hung over her shoulders and she her him gasp in pain as it hit his arms. Pulling it back behind her, she looked at him with apologetic eyes, but she had no idea he couldn't see.
Continuing to move over him she moved over his arms and felt the heat rising from the burns. She looked up at Holodoc and pointed.
"he burns here. He needs to cool."
Haidee's hands moved over slowly to his neck and to his face. She saw the burns and winced at him. She looked up at Holodoc again, looking for answers. She saw that she was working on his other burns and could tell by the look on his face. She could tell the pain was hard for him to deal with.
"shhhh concentrate on my eyes..." her voice was cut off by his.
"I can't see."
Haidee closed her eyes and fought back the tears. She wanted to help him so she kept pushing herself to talk more. Though she felt her throat tightening around her but she kept pushing forward. Instead she concentrated on his eyes with her ice blue eyes.
"listen to me, I know it hurts but breathe deep. Let the pain flow out of you. Come on breathe with me ok?"
She took in a deep breath so he could hear it and soon he found himself breathing along with her.
"What are you, an old healer?"
"no, yes not really. I just learned some old tricks to help with therapy work. shhhhh keep breathing let me talk for you."
"Who.. who are you?"
Haidee looked up and around. Panic started to settle in around her and she fought with in herself to keep control. She opened her mouth to speak and the words didn't come out. She looked back up at Holodoc with panic in her eyes.
Help me? Her eyes pleaded.
Sensing there was a small problem, Holodoc stepped in.
"This is Lieutenant Haidee. I asked her to help me out with you. And to be honest, you're much calmer now. So it worked."
Haidee looked around like a caged animal looking for a way out, but she closed her eyes as her fists closed. She opened them back up and looked at his eyes again.
"keep breathing deep with me. I think she's about to sedate you so you won't feel a thing anymore. Just close your eyes and breathe. It'll be ok when you wake up."
She watched as he closed his eyes from the sedation. Holodoc looked at her and mouthed "thank you" to her. Haidee offered a small smile and headed back out to find Major Brie.

True to form, Skyler went into a detailed account of every step from the first moment his foot touched the deck of the Dropship to their creative escape and return to the Callisto. Sheba only interrupted him ocassionally to inject a question or ask for clarification of a point. A few times, Skyler looked to Logan, Brik and Hush to interject their parts of the mission, which they did as they had been trained to do.
During the debriefing, Logan noted Holodoc running to and fro across the length of Medlab. She seemed to be almost enjoying herself, if such a thing was likely. But there were definitely some serious injuries being taken care of in the outer rooms. Logan did a doubletake when Holodoc rushed past with a young Warrior by the arm, her hair almost covering her face. They disappeared into one of the far rooms and a very harassed-looking medtech beat a hasty retreat out of the room not long after they had entered.
Logan tried to not look at Hush, but considering his placement directly across from her, this was difficult. His attitude bothered her. This whole thing bothered her. They should all be in the O Club celebrating, not stuck in Medlab wondering if their friends and fellow Warriors were going to make it.
Lt. Baris was standing at her bedside, looking on as Sheba listened to Skyler's report. He seemed to be standing guard, making sure his patients didn't get too tired. As if that would happen. Recounting the mission seemed to be helping Skyler. Color was re-entering his cheeks the more he talked.
Logan realized that her leg pain had signifigantly decreased and wondered how long it would be before they let her out of here.

When Skyler was finished, Hush cleared his throat.
"Commander?" Hush asked, and she turned in his direction. "I don't know if this means much from a military standpoint, but there's something you should know about one of your warriors..."
"Lt. Janey is her name" he went on. "After the minesweeper detonated the booby trap we'd placed in the duct above the core, Janey and I encountered a purple cylon in the core...."
The commander remained silent, listening.
"We had no right being alive, but somehow we'd lived through the explosion. When I woke up I was under layered debris. Janey was up at what used to be floor level, with a purple cylon standing over her...."
"I couldn't move or he'd detect me. I had my blaster out, but I had to wait for him to move into my sights. My angle and sightline weren't good at all. So I waited. And the fracking cylon stepped on Janey, trying to get her to call out. He... he kept putting more and more weight on her. I... I couldn't do anything but wait for a shot. It was the hardest thing I ever had to do..."
"And Janey, she took it, took the weight. She didn't cry out until the cylon started breaking her ribs, making her cough up blood. She's the bravest warrior I know, and she's in surgery right now."
"Do we have word on her?" Sheba asked the doctor.
The doctor shook his head. "Still in surgery" he replied.
"I dropped the fracking cylon" Hush concluded, "but I don't know if I was in time or not..."

It was the first opportunity they had had to hear how Hush and Janey had survived the explosion and what had subsequently happened to them.
Something Hush said caught Logan's attention. "Commander?" she said quietly, not wanting to interupt Hush's account, but needing to put some of the puzzle pieces together.
Sheba turned in her direction. "Yes, Lt.?"
"While we were running through the corridor, before the ambush that Weasel...that Weasel fell in, we heard Janey's voice calling out. Apparently, the Cylon Hush and Janey encountered in the Core recorded her voice. To trap us." Logan couldn't believe it even as she said it. These Purple Cylons were clever. They had developed a plan beyond just shooting down their prey. They figured out a way to hunt them.
"I've never heard of anything like it," Sheba muttered, shaking her head.
While Sheba absorbed this information, Logan looked at Hush. He was clearly distraught over his inability to do anything to save Janey as he watched the Cylon hurting her. She doubted she would have been capable of showing such restraint in the same circumstances. If it had been Skyler. Or Brik.
She looked back at Sheba. "Commander. I just wanted to say that if it weren't for Janey, Ally, Hush and Weasel and their bravery and determination, that computer information wouldn't have made it back. And most likely, neither would the majority of the team."
She didn't say it for Hush's benefit. She meant it and Sheba nodded her acknowledgement. Hush and Weasel had been integral at retrieving the data. Ally and Janey may have sacrificed their lives for the Fleet. These were facts that couldn't be disputed.
Commander Sheba looked at each Warrior individually as if she was waiting to see if they had anything else to say.

Hush looked at Logan with disbelief. Here we go again, he thought, like we needed someone from Gold to vouch for the performance of Bronze's warriors. What we did stands up on it's own, he thought, it doesn't need Gold's approval. Wasn't the price we paid proof enough?
He wondered how he ever could have thought that the squadron's could mix and actually be considered equals....
Maybe it was just too soon, that he'd been through too much, too much loss. But then again, maybe not.
He looked again at Logan, trying to remember what it was that had made him once believe otherwise...
