There was a knock on the office door. Brie exited her bedroom, closing the door behind her, and answered. She had expected it to be Persephone, and was surprised to see Roxzanna-Rizou instead. "Major Brie," the IFB reporter started, "I'm..."
"I know who you are." Brie informed her coldly. She stood in the doorway, making no move to allow Roxzanna-Rizou to even see inside her quarters.
"Oh." Roxzanna-Rizou seemed genuinely surprised by Brie's attitude. "This is my vid-camera operator, N'Rondar."
"Nice to meet you." Brie replied unconvincingly. "What can I do for you?"
"May we come in?" Roxzanna-Rizou asked.
Brie paused a moment. If she continued to appear rude it would be a bad reflection of Gold Squadron, but she didn't want to chance Roxzanna-Rizou leaving a listening device in her quarters. It was bad enough that there might be one in JustinB's, making it almost impossible for them to be alone. "I'm sorry," Brie said, thinking quickly, "but there's a kitten inside that likes to climb people's legs. If you were wearing pants it would be one thing but in a dress..." She let her words drop.
A pained look crossed the reporter's face. "I understand. I was wondering...when would be a good time for an interview? I realize that it's very old news, but I'm sure that the good people of the fleet would love to hear your feelings about your mock Tribunal and what happened on the Agro Ship."
Brie smiled. "I'm sorry, but that's not going to happen. You see, Ms. Rizou, I don't trust the IFB or its reporters. If you really were concerned about letting the 'good people of the fleet' know the truth that would be one thing, but unfortunately you tend to report first, check your facts later."
"That's exactly why you should tell your story," Roxzanna-Rizou said, returning Brie's smile. "You can tell everyone the facts...the way that you see them."
"That's exactly why I won't," Brie replied. "I don't want to be the latest topic of gossip for your show. I'm sorry, Ms. Rizou, but I'm just a simple warrior, doing my best to protect the ' good people of the fleet'. If my Tribunal and everything that happened after that helped those people, then I'm glad for my part in it, but that doesn't mean I want to relive it with you."
Roxzanna-Rizou sighed. "Well, if you change your mind, please let me know. I can promise you I would be much kinder to you in an interview than Zerra would."
"And I can promise you that she's not getting an interview with me either."
"Thank you for your time." Roxzanna-Rizou turned towards N'Rondar, took one step, then turned back towards Brie. "You're a redhead," she observed.
Brie smiled the same fake smile once again. "Yes, some of us come by it totally naturally. I'm also left-handed, but I don't think that either of those facts would make a very interesting story."
Roxzanna-Rizou stepped closer towards Brie and lowered her voice. "I'm trying to set up an interview with Major JustinB. Tell me, how well do you know him?"
The comment about Brie's hair color followed by the question about JustinB told Brie quite a bit. The reporter knew that he had been with a redhead, but had no idea who. "I have a lot of respect for Major JustinB," she replied, trying not to sound as if she were weighing every word. "After all, he saved my life on the Agro Ship. Granted, that wouldn't have been necessary if the IFB hadn't been reporting lies about me that convinced the agro workers that I was a threat to them..."
"I had nothing to do with that story," Roxzanna-Rizou said defensively.
"I didn't say that you did," Brie replied. She heard her comm buzz from within her office, signifying that she had a message. She could tell from the sound of the signal that it wasn't urgent, but Roxzanna-Rizou wouldn't know that. "You'll have to excuse me, that's probably important."
"I understand," Roxzanna-Rizou said. "Once again, thank you for your time."
Brie watched as Roxzanna-Rizou and N'Rondar walked down the hall and disappeared from view before reentering her office, making sure the door was not only closed all the way but locked as well. BrieCora came running up to her and tried to climb her leg. "Good kitty, making sure I just told the truth," Brie said, scratching the kitten on the top of her head.

Brie glanced at her chrono. "17:01. Ensign Persephone, you're officially late," she said to herself.

Her hand reached for the button to open the door to the Laundry room. Reaching the Pick- Up Counter, she hastily said, "Hi, I'm here to collect Major Brie's laundry that I left here this morning. I'm Ensign Persephone".
The person behind the counter looked down at the log book saying," Major Brie's items for collection at 17:00 centares "?
"Yes that's it", Persephone confirmed.
The attendant walked over to the shelf to collect the cleaned uniform items, and returned to the desk, handing the clothes over to the ensign, as Persephone signed the log book to confirm the collection. "Thanks", she smiled at the attendant, and turned quickly glancing at her chrono for the time.
I better move at light speed to get back to Brie's office, she thought to herself. With only barely three centons to make it there. She moved through the door and out to the corridor, her legs glided in quick strides as though she were walking on air, feeling like her feet were barely touching the floor.
Two centons left. Suddenly a whole squadron were moving toward her, she thought she might not make it through the sea of fellow Callistoans, to the other side. Felgercarb, why now, do they all have to decide to come this way, when I'm in a fracking hurry!
With a lot of excuse me's and pardon me's, and holding the uniforms out of harms way, as she did not want to return the Major's uniforms wrinkled. Persephone finally swam through the moving squadron, to Major Brie's office. On the mark of 17:01 centares, her hand pressed the entry buzzer on Major Brie's door. Whew....by the grace of the Lords of Kobol, I made it. She let out a relieved sigh, but not sure how she would avoid a scowling look from the Major for being 1centon late.
The door slide open, the major was inside waiting.

"You're late," Brie said, a mock tone of disapproval in her voice. She wasn't really upset, more amused than anything. She had known very well that Persephone would probably be late, having sent over a dozen members of Gold Squadron and anyone else she could find out into the corridor with the express purpose of getting in her way. "Next time you're on a deadline, you might want to give yourself a few extra centons. It's better to be early than late, and you never know what obstacles you might run into on the way." Brie took the laundry from Persephone, glanced it over, and nodded with approval. "Nice job, thank you for taking care of that for me. Excuse me for a centon." Brie took her things into the bedroom, placed them in her now crowded closet, then returned. She approached her desk and picked something at. "Stand at attention, Ensign," Brie ordered. Persephone snapped to attention. "By order of the leadership of the Colonial military, you are hereby promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. Congratulations." Brie pinned the new insignia on Persephone's uniform, enjoying the surprised look on her face.
"Now go celebrate," Brie suggested, walking towards the door. "Especially with a certain somebody. The two of you would do well to keep your voices down in the corridors, though, nobody is really going to be impressed that he's Commander Apollo's cousin, unless he can prove himself to be half the warrior that the Commander is. Until then, he'd better stop the name dropping, even in jest. There are worst duties than cleaning turboflushes, and I have eyes and ears everywhere." Brie opened the door and showed Persephone out to the hall. "Congratulations once again, Lieutenant."

Persephone was totally caught by surprise by the sudden promotion to Lieutenant, as the Major pinned on her new insignia to her uniform. All this, and she had barely felt she'd done anything to deserve it. She had not even gone on her first patrol yet!
As Brie walked her out to the corridor, she advised Persephone to go celebrate and to be more conscientious with Triton in future, about his relation to the Commander of the Galactica, as Brie made it clear of her eyes and ears everywhere. Brie congratulated the new Lieutenant again. Persephone turned to face Brie.
"Thank you Major Brie. Words cannot express the honor I feel at this moment of being raised to Lieutenant. It means a great deal to me Ma'am. And in future Triton and I shall be more discreet. Though we meant no harm I assure you. But indeed, the Commander is the finest warrior that ever lived, and Triton can only endeavour to become such a warrior himself, which I am sure he will, in time".
Brie smiled at Persephone with a nod, but with a reserve in her eyes of whether Triton would prove to be of the same warrior stock as Commander Apollo or not. Time would tell.
Persephone made her way back to the Officer's Club hoping Triton would still be there. As she walked, she repeated her new rank inside her head. Lieutenant Persephone, oh my...how droll!

Lysander took a seat at a table in the Officer's Club, after having finished his shift for the day. He greeted a few other sentries from his billet, and was about to join them at their table, when the brown haired, green eyed pretty new pilot wandered in through the door.
Laying his grog mug back down on the table, he watched her as she seemed to be looking for someone in the room. She walked nearer to his corner table, still busy seeking something or someone.
"Ensign Persephone. Hello again", he finally said, managing to clear the nerves in his stomach.
"Lieutenant Lysander. Hello. I almost didn't see you there". Persephone smiled quite pleased to bump into the friendly sentry again.
"I wonder if you would like to perhaps join me for an ale? On me, of course", the sentry offered, with hope she would accept.
"Er, yes, that would be nice. Thank you." She put looking for Triton,on hold for now.
Lysander stood and walked around the table to pull out a chair for Persephone. She was quite surprised at this show of gentlemanly behaviour. The last time someone did that for her, was her last time with Chiron.
She took her seat, as Lysander returned to his, while signalling to the bartender to bring a second ale to their table.
A grog mug was set down before her.
"I couldn't help but notice you were pre-occupied looking for someone as you came in before. Lost someone? Lieutenant Logan?"
"Ahh..no", she chuckled, as Lysander raised his eyebrows humorously, with a grin. "Actually, I was hoping to find my friend here. I have some great news to tell him".
"Well, if it's anything to do with the additional insignia on your collar, then I'm sure that it is exciting news to tell?". Lysander pointed at her new pin.
Persephone glanced down for a micron to catch a glance at her new insignia, then replied. "Oh yes, I was just promoted this evening by Major Brie. I am still in a daze about it..".
"Then allow me to be among the first ones to congratulate you on your new rank, Lieutenant Persephone!" Lysander offered her a most sincere handshake, with a smile that lighted up his face, equally lighting up her face, as she returned the smile.
Just then, Triton entered the Officer's Club. He glanced about for a few microns, then his eyes came to discover Persephone sitting at a corner table with someone he had not met before. A Sentry? Since when did Pers become so friendly with a Sentry? he wondered. He observed them for a few microns longer, out of Persephone's view, as her back was against Triton.
The two chatted over their ales, enjoying their conversation and obviously enjoying each other's company. Lysander happened to take a moments glance up from the gaze he was almost hypnotized with by Persephone's emerald eyes. A man who possessed an uncanny likeness to Commander Apollo, stood near the bar staring at Persephone and him, for some reason. He had not seen this man before this centon. Triton seemed to give Lysander a strange glare then turned on his heel to leave the club. The sentry was perplexed at the warrior' s behaviour, but dismissed the thoughts and returned to hold Peresphone's attention and friendly conversation.
"Have you ever attended triad games on the Rising Star , Lysander"?
"Ahh, you can call me Lysan, for short if you like".
Persephone acknowledged this by saying," Alright, and you may call me Pers, for short if you like."
"Deal. And , yes as a matter of fact I have a few times. What about you?", he questioned.
"Oh yes. You know I've been trying to figure out where I've seen you before since passing you in the passage to Alpha Bay the first time this morning".
Lysander couldn't believe she too had felt a familiarity with him also, as he did. Maybe now, he might get to the bottom of where he has seen her before.
"I've been wondering the same thing, myself! I don't think we've formerly met in the past, but perhaps in some other way, Pers."
"Well, why don't you tell me which triad tournaments you watched , when you were on the starlliner?"
"Sure. I came about a yahren and a half ago, with a small group of good friends to stay on the starliner for a secton-end to watch and support a Triad game between Aquaria's Silver team and Piscon's Green Team, in fact....."
Persephone chimed in with the rest of Lysander's sentence, " Of course! Delta Court...gallery seats, row 4 "!
They looked at each other in surprise, and laughed. Lysander's broad smile spread across his face with a touch of a blush. He looked down at the table for a micron and faced Persephone again.
"So you were from Aquaria? Why, we're practically cousins, our colonies once being so close in the same quadrant and all! How delightful. I feel like I have found an old friend, Lysander. You know, I have heard that Piscons and Aquarians are connected in a psychic way. No wonder we were thinking the same thing!"
"That's very interesting Persephone. I think I heard that once too, y'know, knowledge passed from the descendants of the elders of our tribe." Lysander was engrossed in their topic of discussion.
"So how and when do you think we saw or bumped into one another? No. Wait. Did you and your friends happen to be seated on the third row from the court? Because that's where my friend, and I were seated. And I recall we went to buy some snacks during half-time and...." Persephone started to laugh while trying to relay the memory of her friend and herself together that day.
"As we returned to our seats, as many other spectators were also returning to their seats, my tripped tripped on the step down and she tried ever so hard to hold onto her soda and crisps and chocolate bars and her balance, but I'm afraid, gravity and collision took rule of that centon, with a terribly embarrassing, but funny, result!"
Lysander's memory was at last triggered, and took his turn at finishing Persephone's sentence.
"And your friend ran into the back of my friend, Quadri. I remember now, because I was thanking the Lord Uranus that I was already out of the path of the domino effect, because, my three other buddies weren't so lucky". He now laughed hard, remembering the humorous moment.
"Oh yes, and her consumables, then adorning the back of your friend's shirt, completely soaked in soda with a peppering of crisps, while Quadri obviously attempted to stabilize himself, before losing his balance from my friend's ramming, and falling forward into your two other friends.
Persephone now was in a fit of giggles or was it the rather good ale she partook of?
"Janus and Aviel landed like a pair of clumsy cylons, with Quadri tumbling down beside them in the aisle. Frack that was funny!" The sentry recalled the rest, then added, " I looked around to see what all the commotion was about, and that's when I saw you, trying to prevent from your friend from tumbling onto my other friends as well. You were laughing as much as I was then, and as we are right now!"
"Persephone's stomach now ached from laughter. Lysander's eyes watered uncontrollably from the heart felt chuckling.
As they slowly quietened down from their guffaws, Persephone softly said to conclude their brief passing all those yahrens ago, in that single very humorous moment, of inevitable human foibles, "I remember you watched your friends dropping into the aisle helplessly, as I did. And that's when you looked at me and you smiled. As though we had an understanding in that moment of the amusing situation".
Lysander gazed at her, " You smiled back at me. And I believe I thought yours was the loveliest smile I had ever seen".
Persephone held the Sentry's gaze for a micron, trying hard not to blush, herself, before Misty Star interrupted the moment.

As Brie was waiting for JustinB to stop by she finished cleaning up her quarters almost to her satisfaction. She liked for things to be spotless, but doubted that they ever would be as long as Amy was staying with her. That was fine, being able to spend time as mother and daughter was worth any mess.
Since there was still some time before JustinB's arrival, Brie made some coffee and sat down on her sofa. As she slowly sipped it she wondered where Amy was. She knew she couldn't run off and look for her, Amy was, after all, an adult, but Brie worried that something was wrong. Maybe not wrong, but different. "You're just paranoid," Brie said to herself. She hadn't had any maternal instinct for over 25 yahrens, it wouldn't just click in one day. "Everything is normal with Amy. Or as normal as it can be with that girl."

"Excuse me Pers...could I talk to you for a centon"? "Misty. Hi". Persephone turned to face her bunk mate, then introduced her friend to Lysander. The sentry smiled at Misty. Misty gave a slight curious look at Persephone. "Would you excuse me, Lysan"? "Oh of course". The two women walked away from the table to speak. "What is it, Misty?" "I just thought you should know that I passed Triton on the way over here, and he seemed a little out of spirits. I asked him if he had seen you, because I was looking for you, and if I didn't know better, I'd say he was having a bad day". Misty looked over back toward Lysander, adding, "Maybe it's has something to do with you having drinks with another guy, Pers". Persephone's forehead frowned with deep thought at her friend's conjecture. "But I haven't seen Triton in the Officer's Club since before I went to deliver the Major's laundry at her office, over 45 millicentons ago. I just happen to bump into Lysander and he politely invited me to have an ale with him. That's all. We met earlier this morning on Alpha Bay before my viper inspection with Logan. In fact we have come to realise we've crossed paths once in the past, on Piscon". "Well, Pers, whether you realise it or not, but you seem to have an effect on most of the male sex onboard the Callisto. There isn't a day when I haven't seen you with some guy in tow". Persephone's jaw dropped at her friend's remarks. "Is that what you think? That I have every guy following behind me? You think I'm a flirt don't you"? "That's not what I meant, Pers. Just that, if it's not Lieutenant Artus, you have Triton spouting sonnets for you, and now a rather cute Sentry asking you to drinks" "I resent the innuendo you're trying to pin on me, Misty. She, who is also dating someone who just lives for you, and yet you don't have a qualm about eyeballing Lieutenant Artus yourself!" "I'm not having social victuals with Artus while dating Helix, Pers"! "Oh, but wouldn't you jump at the chance if he turned the charm on you though"! Now, Misty's mouth was agape. Persephone shut her eyes for a micron, and took a deep breathe. "What are we arguing about, Misty? What are we doing here?" "I don't know, I think my good intentions went astray somewhere, Pers. I didn't mean to say the things I said..." "Nor did I, Misty, can you forgive me"? "Of course.. besides where would I get another sample of Blue Musk fragon from?" Smirks spread across the women's faces, turning into smiles and eventually letting out some laughter. Misty looked down at her boots for a moment, then sighed. "Pers, you 're the best friend I've had for yahrens. I didn't mean to sound like I was criticizing your love life or telling you how to run it, but I really suspect Triton didn't look happy because he's seen you with Lysander. You two appeared rather cosy, when I walked in." "Really? Cosy? That' wasn't done consciously, I swear. I was just enjoying the chat". "I believe you Pers, but to another, that's not the way it might have came across". "Where did you see Triton headed"? "The officer's mess, I think. He mumbled something about probably doing better with a low hand of pyramid, then with ....I didn't catch the rest of what he said, because he was walking away as he said it". Thanking her friend, and expressing how much she appreciated her friendship too, Persephone whirled around, bade her thanks to Lysander for the drink , and politely told him that she had to be somewhere.

Entering Med Lab, Logan looked around for signs of Lt. Baris but didn't see him. A few Med Techs were scurrying in and out of labs and isolated patient areas. The majority of injured personnel from the last mission had been discharged and things seemed slow at the micron, which she was sure Holodoc appreciated. That should give her more time to harass the Warriors about their physicals, Logan mused with a wry grin.
She wasn't sure which room Skyler was in, but it became evident quick enough. There was only one room with a rather bored looking sentry standing outside. She made for the doorway. The man, a lieutenant from Flint's Galactica contingent, stood up a bit straighter as he noticed her approach.
She stood even with him and looked him in the eye. "Lieutenant," she said formally, not breaking eye contact.
"I am under strict orders that this patient is to have limited contact with the crew." He didn't look at all sure as he glanced past Logan.
"I'm Lt. Logan. I was on the mission with the Captain. I'm not here to cause trouble, Lt. Just to visit a friend." She smiled, hoping to put the man at ease. "I'll just be a few microns."
He opened his mouth, but she interrupted. "And I won't mention the mission."
Logan kept her gaze steady as he decided what to do. "Alright, but I'm going to be in the doorway, making sure you're on the up and up."
"Fine." Logan walked past him and into the room. Skyler was laying propped up on the biobed, looking absolutely miserable. The vid monitor on the wall was streaming the IFB news.
"Thank the Lords," Skyler exclaimed. "Turn that felgercarb off before I have to destroy the monitor." He motioned to the screen and Logan shook her head. She walked over and turned it off.
"Tired of your vacation already? There are some Warriors who'd love to kick back in here, watching IFB and eating mushies to their heart's content."
"Not in my squadron there aren't and you know it, "Skyler smiled at his friend as she came to stand beside his bed. "You ok? And Brik? And what about Bronze? They won't tell me anything in here. Next time that Baris pops in I'm taking him hostage until someone releases me."
Logan was glad to hear her friend's gruff tones. It meant he was getting better. She glanced surrepticiously over her shoulder and noted the sentry standing just within earshot. Obviously, he was under orders to monitor any conversations that went on in here.
"I'm fine and back on duty. I have a new Wingman, Lt. Persephone. She's good. You'll like her. Brik is fine too. You know him. He'll be fine no matter what."
Skyler smiled and nodded. "And Bronze?"
Logan lost her smile. "They won't tell us much because their files are in lockdown. Which doesn't bode well. Hush is back on duty as far as I know." She decided to save any further speculations about Bronze Squadron's injuries until they had more privacy. Technically, their injuries fell under mission specifics and she didn't want to get Skyler or Gold in hot water for saying too much.
"If I find out anything else, I'll let you know," she said instead. "Maybe I'll take Baris hostage until he tells me," she said, giving Skyler a playful wink. He laughed and she heard a cough behind her. The sentry had a shocked and disapproving expression on his face.
"Kidding, of course," she told the uncertain Lt.

Brie checked her messages. She smiled when she read the one from Lieutenant Brik, obviously her earlier admonition had made an impact. She sent back a reply with a suggested meeting time. She quickly checked herself it the mirror. That wasn't something that she normally did, but JustinB would be there soon. She smiled at the thought of him, partially glad that Amy wasn't there. As much as she wanted the two of them to get to know each other, it would be good to have a few centons alone. Brie freshened up her coffee and wondered if she should make more. Did JustinB even drink coffee? There was so much that she didn't know about him. She smiled again, she looked forward to finding out.
