Medievalsong Kris watched Rose walk down the hall towards the shift office. She sighed and hung her head when she walked back in the barracks. Sitting on her bunk, head hung, hands hanging between her knees, Kris' thoughts began to run rampid. So much felt weird, different since she came back from the medlab. Fresh faces, old faces, yet it was all so different. Or maybe she was different. She was shocked about Stadia's sealing! She had no idea. What else had she missed while she was sick? Galen walked over and head butted her side then walking onto her lap. Kris smiled a small smile, one full of sadness. "Hey you over grown furball. Did you miss me?" Her answer was a purr as she held him close. "Yeah I missed you too. Seems I have missed a lot lately. And it seems I have caused some harsh feelings. Not that I blame them for feeling that way but...I am just having a hard time getting back into the swing of things. Maybe things have changed so much that I am no longer fit to be a warrior anymore? I feel shaky on every mission. I don't know Galen. Maybe its all in my head! I need to go find major BatGal and talk to her about this, pending on what she says, I might go as far as to talking to the Colonel about possibly handing in my resignation." A voice broke her thoughts... "Are you sure you want to resign?" Jarrynn had been in the door way. That twin connection told her that Kris was not holding up very well. "Are you going to let them run you off?" Jarrynn said as she took a seat next to Kris. "I don't want to resign. Being a warrior is all I ever dreamed of!" Jarrynn smiled and nodded. "You and daddy both! I never could understand why you loved to fly so much. Well if its what you want then why resign?" Kris' eyes held the sadness and the pain she felt within, "Because Jarrynn, I have been gone too long. Some feel I am not fit for duty anymore or can carry my own weight. It's hard to get back into the swing of things when you have been gone for so long. I don't know what to do, where to go, where to even start. I fear I have let so many down." A tear ran down her cheek. Galen looked up sadly at his furmommy and headbutted her for support. Kris just patted his head. Jarrynn sighed and got up. She knew the battles her twin had fought the whole time. Battles no one else knew. She hated to see Kris give up so easily. "Kris no one else can tell you what to do. Are things different? Yes. Are you different? Yes. Is it going to take some getting used to again? Yes. Can you do it? Yes but only if you believe you can. Will it be rough? Darn skippy it will be! But that is why you are a frackin warrior and not me! You have been away dealing with illness and personal issues. You have been fighting battles that no one else has seen. You can do it but only if you belive. And I believe in you." Jarrynn hugged her twin and wished she could swap places just till Kris got her bearings again. More tears fell from Kris' face. "Why is it the thing that torments my dreams is what I desire?" Jarrynn could only shrug and hug her again. "Go talk to Major BatGal and see about getting back to duty and soon. If not then you will never make it back and those that you say have harsh feelings towards you will have won. But the choice is yours." * * * JustinB As Rose came through the door, my spirits lifted.
"Hi there stranger," I said as I walked over and embraced her, "long time no see."
"Yes it has been a while. But things being as crazy as they have been, I am happy to catch up with you." Rose replied following up with a passionate kiss.
Once we stopped kissing, I had to catch my breath. "Sorry for not being around lately, but the situation with Killjoy took longer than I would have liked and there was an unexpected twist. Everything is sorted now, so I should be able to get some furlon for a while. I just have to run it by the Major."
"That would be very nice. We have a helluva lot of catching up to do plus I have something to ask you." she said mysteriously.
"Then let’s go for a walk then shall we."
"Yes, a walk would be nice." she replied.
As I placed on my flight jacket, I wondered what she had on her mind. * * * BSGRose Rose continued walking along with JustinB and talking with him some along the way. She refused to tell him where she was taking him to so that they could talk for awhile and Rose couldn't help but laugh some at JustinB trying to figure out where they were going and trying to get her to tell him. It had been awhile since they had some down time with one another and she knew that with recent events, JustinB was in need of a distraction. Rose was going to make sure she kept him distracted for as long as she could.
After walking along a little more, Rose pulls JustinB into the secluded area where they had spent a little time with one another once before. Rose turned to face JustinB, and she smiles mischievously up at him. She grabbed the front of his jacket and pulls JustinB towards her, claiming his lips in a passionate kiss. Several centons pass by before Rose pulls back a little and looks into JustinB's eyes. "JustinB," Rose softly says near his lips, "I want to take our relationship to the next level." Reaching up with her hands, Rose pulled JustinB's lips back to hers claiming them once again and this time she rain her hands into his hair deeping the kiss. * * * JustinB Feeling Rose's moist lips on my made me feel good inside. "I also wish to take it to the next level also," I said. Pulling away slightly, "But there is one thing you will have to know first. Due to my position, there will be times when I will be distant with regards to missions. We won't always be assigned together, let alone being on each others wing. If you can accept that, then I am all yours."
Rose seemed happy enough, but it was hard to tell with our lips now locked together. * * * BSGRose Rose knew that no matter what position either one of them held while both on active duty in the Colonial Military, there would be times when they couldn't fly together for one reason or another. Either way, she wasn't about to let it come between her relationship with JustinB. Rose wanted her relationship with JustinB to work out and was going to do all she could to make sure that things went well between them.
Rose wrapped her arms around JustinB's neck a little more pulling him closer to her as their kiss deepened. She could feel JustinB's hands roaming over her back some under her flight jacket and pulling her towards him at the same time. Rose's need for JustinB was growing as they continued to passionately kiss one another there in their secluded hideaway. Rose could feel JustinB's muscles in his arms tighten and relax every so often and it felt as though she could hear their hearts beating in time to a race going faster and faster.
Slowly, Rose started backing up and JustinB moved slowly with her. After only a couple of steps, Rose back right into a crate that was there in the room and just as JustinB starts leaning forward some causing Rose to bend backwards some, they lose their balance and fall to the floor still in one anothers arms kissing passionately. Rose landed on top of JustinB when they fell and she pulls back just a little to look down into his eyes. Leaning back down, Rose claims JustinB's lips once again as she moves a little causing them to start rolling around some there on the floor. * * *

JustinB My heart was working overtime with all the passion I felt whilst on the floor. But as Rose tried to undress me I pulled away.
"JustinB what's wrong. Didn't you just say you wanted our relationship to the next level?" Rose asked.
Standing up and straightening my uniform I replied, "Yes Rose I did. My love for you is beyond description. That is why I can't do it here. You deserve at the very least something more comfortable than the floor."
"I don't care JustinB, just as long as I can be with you."
"Well why don't we make way back to my room and blow the locking mechanism so we cannot be disturbed. At the very it will be more comfortable than the cold floor."
"You have a point there let’s go," Rose said dragging me along.
As I was being led back to my room, we passed the Black Squadron barracks. Something which had been posted up caught my eye. I stopped and dragged Rose in. I looked at what it was and had to read it again just in case I was imagining it...
Attention all Warriors!
The newly elected leader of Black Squadron is JustinB!
Congratulations and thanks to all who participated in this yahren's election cycle.
With the election, JustinB is hereby promoted to the rank of Major in the Colonial Military and assumes command of the squadron immediately. He will forward his nomination for SIC to Col. Charybdis ASAP.
A debt of gratitude to Major BatGal who is the outgoing squadron leader. She will be transferred to the bridge and will await further assignment of duties. She will also forward a maximum of two Black squadron members for possible promotion.
I couldn't believe my eyes. I had voted for myself but honestly thought Major BatGal would retain command. The look on Rose's face said it all.
"Rose I promise you this won't affect how I feel for you. I love you with all my hearts desire. I promise to love and care for you." I said with all honesty. "I have to go and see Major Lucian and ask him what the regs are on our dilemma. Whatever I have to do, I will always love you."
I gave Rose a passionate kiss and made my way to the bridge. All I had to do now was to find out how I ask a superior officer about my dilemma without seeming like a complete idiot. * * * Brie “A warrior first, a warrior first.” Brie must have said it to herself at least a hundred times. All of her thoughts were wrapped around the last few centars she had spent with Skyler. If she closed her eyes she could still feel his arms around her, hear his heart beating, feel his breath on her skin, his cheek on her lips. She wasn’t prepared for this, she had thought that Turner was the only man she could ever feel like this about. She hadn’t realized that it just might be possible for her to love again.
“No,” she said out loud. Brie was a squadron leader, Skyler was her Second-in-Command. She was supposed to feel comfortable with her SIC, that’s why she picked him in the first place. They worked well together, could anticipate each other’s moves. Brie knew that Skyler would always be there to watch her back. She couldn’t jeopardize that for anything as trivial as love. A warrior first, anything else second.
Brie could think of a hundred reasons why it could never work with Skyler, and no ways that it could. Well, there was one way. She could resign as squadron leader, take the job on the bridge that Charybdis was always teasing her about. But even that wasn’t possible. She knew that even if the attraction was mutual, which she doubted, Skyler wouldn’t allow her to resign. When she was first elected Gold Squadron CO she felt like it was what her entire life had been leading up to, it was what she was born to do. She couldn’t give it up, she was a warrior first. Anything else would make her a hypocrite.
Deciding to take a quick turbowash before looking for Doc Bkj, Brie grabbed a clean uniform out of her closet. She noticed a box on the shelf. Shaking, she took it down. It contained her sealing gown. The day she had taken the seal with Turner was probably the happiest of her life. Now he was gone. Officially dead. She still didn’t feel it in her heart, but she did realize that the time was right to move on. It was ironic that the night she allowed them to close his file was also the night she discovered that she might still be able to love. She took the gown out of the box and looked at it. It was also ironic that for a time the gown wasn’t hers. She had given it to Mara, who had been engaged to Skyler. Mara couldn’t handle being in the same squadron as Skyler after she called the engagement off, so she asked for reassignment on the CQ. Brie folded the gown once more, placed it in the box, and decided to make that turbowash not so quick after all. * * * Brie walked silently to the Med Lab. She saw a few people on her way, but shared nothing more than a quick hello. She didn’t think that they could tell how badly her head was pounding. She remembered why she hardly ever drank.
Entering the Med Lab Brie soon found Doc Bkj. Doc was also a major like Brie, and the two of them had been friends for a long time. She was also one of the few people on the Callisto who knew Brie’s mental history. “Doc, you got a few centons?” Brie asked. “I really need to talk to you.”
“Let me finish this up,” Doc said. “Meet me in my office.”
After no more than 5 centons Doc entered her office. “What can I do for you?” she asked. “Is this about Killjoy?”
“No,” Brie replied. “This is personal. Do you by any chance have anything for a hangover?”
Doc raised her eyebrows unapprovingly at Brie, and took a bottle off a shelf. She handed Brie a couple of pills and a glass of water. “Why the hangover? I know you, Brie, you hardly ever drink.”
Brie gratefully took the pills and washed them down. “I think we need to make this conversation official.” Confused, Doc pulled out a recording device and placed it on her desk. “I had Turner’s file closed last night. In the eyes of the military, he’s dead.”
“Why?” Doc asked.
“I found out some confidential information about his last mission,” Brie explained. “Some things were kept from me, probably because of my breakdown. There’s no way that he could have survived. Keeping his file open was pointless.”
“So you decided to get drunk?” Doc inquired.
“It wasn’t like that. When he disappeared, I bought a bottle of ambrosia. I had planned on sharing it with him when he returned. It’s been in my safe all these yarhens. I decided it was time to open it. Opening that bottle helped me to be able to finish that part of my life.”
“Drinking alone is not a good sign, Brie...”
“I wasn’t alone,” Brie interrupted. “I was with Skyler.” Doc stared at Brie with a look of surprise. “Don’t look at me like that, Doc,” Brie said quickly. “Skyler was there when I was made aware of this confidential file. He’s a good friend and the most trusted member of my squadron. He also knows about my suicide attempt, I chose to share that information with him. I figured it wasn’t a good idea to be alone, so he kept an eye on me. That’s all.”
Doc Bkj paused for several microns. “Okay,” she said at last, “sounds like you were being at least semi-responsible. How do you feel now?”
“Besides the hangover?” Brie asked. Doc nodded. “A little bit confused. A little bit sad. But I’m fine. I’m not thinking about conspiracies, I know that Turner was killed by the Cylons plain and simple. No one is out to get anyone. And I’m not in that hole that I was in before. I’m not going to try to kill myself again.”
Doc Bkj smiled. “I believe you. Commander Sheba might decide she wants to do a full psychological workup on you, but if she asks for my recommendation I’ll tell her that I don’t think it’s necessary. I’ll let her know that you came by on your own to see me.”
Brie stood up. “Thanks, Doc.” She headed towards the door.
“And Brie,” Doc called after her, “I’d recommend a one drink limit for awhile.” * * *

Brie Brie was checking things off of her mental to-do list. She had seen Doc Bkj, talked to Charybdis, sent a note to JustinB congratulating him on his election. She had been trying to track down Killjoy, but from what she could gather he was resting, having been slightly injured in his attempt to help her. Next on her list was a visit to the bridge, she needed to prove to Commander Sheba that she was fine.
Looking everywhere, she couldn’t find her flight jacket. She tried to think of where she might have left it, but her head still hurt too much to think. She probably left it in the Med Lab when she stopped by to talk to Doc, the temperature was always a bit higher in there than the rest of the Callisto. She must have left it in Doc’s office.
Grabbing another jacket, she left for the bridge. As soon as Sheba saw her she left what she was doing and approached Brie. “Let’s have a little talk,” Sheba suggested, pointing towards one of the smaller rooms. Brie followed her in and they both sat down. “I got a message from Doc Bkj,” Sheba started. “She seems to think that you’re fine, not heading for another breakdown.”
“I am fine,” Brie informed her. “I’ll admit, last night was a bit of a shock, but closing Turner’s file was more of a formality than anything. I was just making official what we’ve all known for a long time.”
“Doc tells me that you got drunk last night,” Sheba said sternly. “That doesn’t sound ‘fine’ to me.”
“Permission to speak freely, Ma’am,” Brie said.
“Of course.”
“If Charybdis or Lucian or Jorlan or any of the male officers had gotten drunk under similar circumstances...”
Sheba cut her off. “Don’t give me that felgercarb, Major. Charybdis, Lucian and Jorlan have never, to my knowledge, attempted suicide. You have.”
“That’s true,” Brie agreed. “But it was a long time ago and I’ve grown up since then. And I wasn’t drinking alone so I couldn’t have tried anything even if I had wanted to. Which I didn’t. As I said before, Ma’am, I was just making official something I’ve known for a long time. This isn’t the same as before. I cried it out, I got drunk, now I’m moving on.”
Sheba reminded silent for several microns. “Okay, but I’m going to be keeping a close eye on you for the next couple of sectons. And if you start to feel yourself slipping...”
“I’d go see Doc immediately.”
“Do you want any time off?” Sheba asked. “If you want it that’s fine, especially during the jump.”
“No, Ma’am,” Brie replied. “I think the best thing for me is to just keep going with my everyday life. If I change my mind I’ll let you know.”
“Fine,” Sheba said. “If you need anything, just ask.”
“I will, Ma’am,” Brie said. She stood right after Sheba did, relieved that this meeting was over. * * * Charybdis I had finished my turbowash and put on a clean uniform after I had returned to my quarters. I was exhausted. All I can say, that Pell is a wild one. She sure doesn't show it on the outside, but...
I sat at my comm unit at my desk and punched in the following:
"BSC050503.
ID100317A Personnel Classification.
Sgt. Pell, systems analyst, Battlestar Callisto.
Action: Recommended for promotion for high effort and diligence in assigned tasks.
*end file*"
She had done good work after all, and then some. It was the least I could do... * * * After much needed paperwork was finally finished, I had to seek out Brie. THe news had sort of been a surprise. Not so much about Turner's official status, but that Brie actually did it. Brie had made it official after all these yahrens. No wonder she was acting very strangely in the corridor earlier. She is a wonderful loyal friend, but she can act rather distant at times, I guess we all do under stress.
I left my quarters and went find her. As I buzzed her room, she invited me in. She was sitting at her desk with nothing laying on it in front of her. I wondered how long she had been there.
"Brie" I said as I came in and the door slid shut behind me. "I heard about your decision. I'm sorry..." * * * Brie “Have a seat, Charybdis,” Brie said. “I always said I’d have to be sure, but now I realize that I never will be. Time to move on, I guess. Did you hear what happened?”
“Bits and pieces,” Charybdis said. “I know that Hawke was behind the security breeches.”
“Hawke.” Brie said his name with a little bit of frustration. “Yeah, he wanted to ‘pay me back’ for what happened with the Nomen last yarhen. So, he decided to ruin all my hopes and illusions.” She paused. “Since it had become fairly well known that Killjoy had tried to break into my file, I got him to agree to help me. He pretended to continue to be a security risk, and I hid out in Skyler’s quarters, hoping that whoever was behind the other breech would think the coast was clear and make a mistake. I never thought it would be Hawke.”
“The Commander showed me the file about Turner and Cal’s final mission,” Charybdis said. “It was quite a shock.”
“Yeah.” Brie paused again. She was trying to decide if she should tell Charybdis something she had kept from him for yarhens. “I need to tell you something, but it’s 100% off the record. It’s got to stay just between you and me. The only other people who know this are Skyler and unfortunately, Hawke, because he bugged my office and overheard me telling Skyler. If anyone asks me about this I’ll deny it to my dying day.”
“Okay,” Charybdis agreed, confused. “What is it?”
Brie chose her words carefully. “I never had a nervous breakdown. I faked the whole thing.”
“Why?”
“For you,” Brie replied. “You and I both know that someone tampered with Turner’s viper. He may have been killed by the Cylons, but he was much too good a pilot to be shot down in a simple fire fight. Remember, he wasn’t scheduled for that patrol, he was added at the last micron and he didn’t have time to check his viper. He was murdered, and you and I both know why. I was worried that since you two were close friends, someone might think you knew something. So I decided to turn all the attention to myself so they wouldn’t even think of you. Granted, when I slit my wrists I didn’t care if I died or not but once I was found I faked my way through the rest of it. It wasn’t always easy, sometimes I thought that I actually would go insane, but I wasn’t.” She looked at her longtime friend, wondering if he believed her. * * *

Charybdis "You faked it? All?" I incredulously responded to Brie's revelation. All these yahrens, all the pain. And she had faked it all??
I didn't know whether to be thanking her, to pity her or to be steaming mad at her. All those nights watching her self-destruct. Watching her endure the pain of losing her husband and then beating herself up inside...all faked?
But then, I realized that she meant what she had said. She had done it all...for me. So that I would be safe, regardless of what happened to her. I saw her in a way I had never seen her, only now, so many yahrens later.
"Brie," I didn't know what to say. I couldn't find the words. Finally, I said something, "You didn't have to do that. We could have handled it together. You knew that."
She stopped me,"I know, but like I said before, at the time, I didn't really care what happened to me."
"But I did. I went through Hades Hole too. Thinking Tur...knowing Turner was dead and then having to see you go through all that. You didn't have to go through it alone."
Brie thought a moment. "I'm sorry, Charybdis. I know you loved Turner too. He was like the brother you lost back on Caprica. After I lost him, I also determined not to lose anyone else close to me...including you, if I could help it."
"Well, you're plan seemed to work. I'm still here alive and kicking, huh?" I smiled a bit and so did she. "I just wished I could have done more. For you, to help you in some way and...I couldn't."
I waited for her to respond... * * * Brie "I just wished I could have done more. For you, to help you in some way and...I couldn't."
“But you did,” Brie assured Charybdis. “You survived. You moved ahead. You rose through the ranks to make Colonel, something that Turner NEVER would have believed. And you stood up for me. Who would have thought back in those dark days that I’d ever become a squadron leader? Without you believing in me, it never would have happened.”
“So why are you telling me this now?” Charybdis asked.
“I guess it’s about time,” Brie explained. “After the information that Hawke showed me last night, I knew that Turner’s file could be closed even without my permission. There’s enough evidence that he’s dead. And I wanted to make sure that you knew I was going to be okay. I didn’t want you to think that I would be going off the deep end. The depression before was real, but now I’m not even depressed. A bit sad, but I think that’s understandable. Plus I felt kind of funny having shared this with Skyler but not having told you.”
“What made you decide to tell Skyler?” Charybdis asked.
Brie thought for a moment. “When Killjoy and then Hawke tried to get into the classified section of my file Skyler was more than willing to help try to figure out what was going on. He told me that he didn’t care what was inside and I believed him. When I did show him my medical history it didn’t make the slightest bit of difference to him. So I decided to tell him the whole truth. When people find out that I officially had a mental breakdown they see me differently, but I couldn’t afford that with Skyler. He is my SIC, after all.” Charybdis remained silent, he seemed to be trying to take it all in. “My guess is that the people who murdered Turner are all dead themselves. They were probably warriors, and killed by the Cylons. There weren’t any problems for me once I returned to the service, and there’s been nothing at all on the Callisto.”
“There was the whole Nomen thing,” Charybdis reminded her.
“True, but Amy was the real target. I just kind of got in the way. I really think we’re safe now. Even if they are still alive I don’t matter to them, because no one believed me anyway. They said I was paranoid. So the more paranoid they thought I was, the more I pretended to be. I was so good, I came up with some really interesting conspiracy theories. Then once enough time had passed and I learned that you were safe, that you weren’t a target, I pretended that I was coming out of it. It’s funny how willing people can be to think that you’re crazy. I stopped by the med lab this morning, had a talk with Doc Bkj. Since I had Turner’s file closed, I figured that she and probably Commander Sheba would be waiting for me to lose it again. And you too, which is another reason that I wanted you to know. I’ll be fine.”
“I can see that you will be,” Charybdis said. “Is there anything I can do for you?”
“Yes,” Brie said. “Stop worrying about me. And remember that this conversation is just between you and me. I don’t want anybody, including the Commander, to know about this. If anyone finds out I could easily end up back in the mental ward, which is the last thing that I want. And there’s one more thing that you can do for me.”
“What is it?” Charybdis asked.
“Get some rest,” Brie suggested. “You look exhausted.” * * * Charybdis "Get some rest, you look exhausted," Brie had told me with a slight smile.
She looked just fine. Brie was tough. Woman through and through, but tough.
"You know, I think you're right. That does sound mighty good right about now. It's been non-stop since I got back from the CQ and taking care of things, hasn't let me rest for one micron," I responded thinking of the last few centars with Pell.
"But there's one thing I can't do." I said. Brie looked a bit worried. "I can't stop worrying about anyone onboard this ship. Least of all you!" I winked at her and that brought a smile to her face. It was nice to see.
"Take CAre, I'll be in my quarters until we come out of the jump." I touched her on her arm and she clasped mine as well.
I left to head back to my quarters for much-needed rest... * * * Attention all Warriors!

Lucian Two cycles later…
Lucian was returning to the Bridge for the first time since his accident and 'meltdown' with Major BatGal. Since he’d been off duty by command rather than choice, and ordered to stay off his feet at that, he’d spent the time in his small private quarters alone. He’d started reading a book, but found it boring, so he worked through some jump calculations related to his recent check of those for Pangara. The system was now less than a secton away.
In his checkup just before walking to the Bridge, Doc had told him to use a cane for the next couple of cycles. Already, the steady thump thump thump was driving him crazy. Rather, it was just one of the number of things driving him crazy.
He’d spent two cycles deliberately not thinking of Mar-nee’. Unfortunately, every time he failed, which was quite frequently at first, he also thought of his friend Kaytoe. During their late night talk a couple of evenings before, he’d straightened his face as much as he could before telling BatGal, “Maybe I should have knocked him off for the girl,” but the shocked look on her face dissolved quickly when the grin crept onto his face. “Good thing you don’t play high stakes Pyramid,” she said, “cause you’d loose big time!” They both had dissolved into another round of laughter until they returned to discussing Lucian’s real plans. Rill had come to kick them out a few centons later.
Concluding the evening, she helped him with the crutches, and they walked toward his quarters. “Thank you,” he said. “I’m going to turn this thing around. I’ll be back on the Bridge in a couple of cycles, and then I’ll show Commander Sheba what I’m really made of.”
“That’s the spirit!” she exclaimed.
“You know, it’s not every cycle that someone tells me how big an idiot I am.”
“Sometimes, you just deserve it,” she said with a smile. “We’re about all the ‘family’ each other has. I love you as a brother, Lucian, and if your ‘sister’ can’t do it, well, who can?”
Brother. Sister. He knew that was the way they’d always worked it, but even after telling her his secret, it still hurt, since she was the one person he’d always known, under the right circumstances, might someday take Mar-nee’s place in his heart. As she kissed him on the cheek and said goodnight, he had hoped he hadn’t given away too much of his true feelings. Now, two cycles later, he had concluded that whatever feelings he might have for her would remain hidden forever.
As he reported to the Bridge, he received word of the Black Squadron elections the cycle before. He made a mental note that he’d have to congratulate Major Justin later in the cycle when things were calmer, and speak with BatGal as well about her new duties, whatever they were. He was about to check the duty roster and begin work on the upcoming mission to Pangara when he saw the new Major walk onto the Bridge, coming directly toward him. * * * Major Justin was suddenly swarmed by a group of the Bridge personnel wishing him congratulations. Seeing it was going to be a couple of centons, Lucian checked out Commander Sheba's orders.
Basically, Pangara was a huge system. It consisted of two suns in fairly close proximity with almost two dozen planets between them. The Callisto's approach would be to the larger star, with its large gas giants and several smaller interior planets. Commander Sheba wanted to get into the system and out as quickly as possible, just in case the Cylons were still pursuing. If the Callisto and CQ could jump prior to the arrival of the Cylons, it might take them sectars before they ever located the right jump point, and by then, the Colonials would have joined the fleet at Krestonia and been long gone. It would be up to the Viper survey crews to locate the jump point to the Krestonia system. The orders were...
After reading the order, Lucian began to type:
To: Major Brie, Major Jorlan, and Major JustinB
From: Major Lucian
RE: Preparation for Pangara
CC: Commander Sheba, Colonel Charybdis
We will be arriving in the Pangara system in approximately five cycles. The system is huge and has numerous potential dangers. To allow entry and exit from the system in the shortest time, jump surveys will be flown by Warriors from all three squadrons. Your orders are as follows:
1. Gold Squadron--Will dispatch four Warriors to the Beta sector of Pangara Prime. Conduct survey to assist location of jump point to Krestania system. Warriors that have been on flight restriction shall be checked out on SIM's prior to mission if assigned to fly this mission. There are several small planets in this sector. In this sector, planets receive light from both stars so it may be disconcerting to pilots.
2. Silver Spar Squadron--Will dispatch two Warriors to fly short cover and conduct jump survey in Gamma sector, the Callisto's arrival sector, of Pangara Prime.
3. Black Squadron--Will dispatch four Warriors to Alpha sector of Pangara Prime. Conduct survey to assist location of jump point to Krestania system. Any warriors that have been on flight restriction shall be checked out on SIM's prior to mission if assigned to fly this mission. Note that two large pulsing gas giants are in this sector, so proper precautions shall be taken since communications will be affected.
Flight crews are to be arranged by 09:00 tomorrow. Submit list to Flight Operations.
Lucian forwarded the message just in time to see escape from the crowd of well-wishers and come his way. * * * JustinB I was some what overwhelmed with all the congratulations I received. Once the last person went back to duty, I approached Major Lucian.
"Sir, I was wondering whether I could have a moment of you time to ask you something of a personal nature," I asked nervously.
"Yes you can Major, what's on your mind?" was his reply.
"Well Sir, Now that I have been promoted to lead Black Squadron, I find myself in a slight dilemma. I know I can command without fear or favour. I am in a relationship with Lieutenant Rose; I need to know what the regs are in relation to my problem. Any advice or help you can give me would be appreciated."
I felt stupid asking a senior officer about my problem, but I had served under Major Lucian and I knew he appreciated honesty. I stood at attention to hear his answer. * * * Lucian "Sir, I was wondering whether I could have a moment of you time to ask you something of a personal nature," Justin asked. "Yes you can Major, what's on your mind?" was Lucian’s reply.
“Well Sir, now that I have been promoted to lead Black Squadron, I find myself in a slight dilemma. I know I can command without fear or favour.”
Lucian thought about all the potential problems that had gone through his mind when he taken command of Black Squadron. He wondered which one Justin was considering.
Justin continued, “I am in a relationship with Lieutenant Rose; I need to know what the regs are in relation to my problem. Any advice or help you can give me would be appreciated."
Oooo-kay, that was not one Lucian had considered! Long ago, he’d briefly considered what might happen IF he were to begin a relationship with one of his own, and he’d promptly ruled out the possibility. Being reminded of it and briefly made to doubt his decision just a couple of evenings before was fresh in his mind. Later, he'd had a real opportunity with Stadia, but his 'rejection' of her interest, which he could not adequately explain to her at the time, had led to the loss of a good officer to Black Squadron. However, to the case in question, he’d evidently lost touch with his old squadron to the point that he hadn’t even heard about this relationship.
“Major, let’s walk. Pardon my hobble. Doc’s had me in rehab a couple of times each cycle for the last two cycles, but she said I’ve still got to keep using this thing for a while.” The tapping of the cane sounded as they left the Bridge and entered the corridor. “Okay, Justin, how long has this been going on, and how serious is it? My reason for asking is that the regs don’t say that you can’t, but it sure can be a problem. I would suggest that you ask Commander Sheba about her past personal situation, but I think she’d most likely eject both of us out a garbage chute right in the middle of the jump—you for asking, and me for suggesting it!” He waited for Justin's response before trying to dispense any advice on command, since he knew he was in no way qualified to give advice on love or relationships. * * *

JustinB "Well Sir, it has just started to get serious between Rose and me. We have been seeing each other for quite a few Sectars now. I didn't expect to become Black Squadron Leader, not so soon anyway. When Major BatGal and Captain Kris were both down with reactions to the HEX-I injections, I had no problems with separating duty and my personal life. But it was the reality that I was a warrior first and everything else second which made me come to you with my question about the regs on this issue."
After that mouthful, I wondered what Major Lucian would say. Hopefully, Rose wouldn't have to be transferred. I don't know how she would react to that happening. * * * Lucian Lucian was disappointed in himself that he hadn't kept up with his friend better. It had been going on for sectars? Though they had spoken from time to time over the last few sectars, they really hadn't talked as they had when Lucian was in charge of Black Squadron. Their recent discussions had primarily been about orders and dealing with orders under adverse conditions, so they both seemed to have lost track of each other with respect to life in general. That was discouraging, but to a Warrior, the safety of the fleet must always come first, and if personal life had to suffer as a result, then so be it. Justin's recent experiences as part-time leader of the squadron made Lucian sure he was prepared to lead the squadron full-time and lead it well.
"Serious, eh? Justin, I apologize that I haven't spoken with you enough on a personal level in recent sectars to even be aware of this situation," said Lucian as they walked down the corridor. "Then, again, I'm happy for you and I'm glad you brought this to me before you brought it to me as a problem. As I said, the regs don't prevent it, but practice has been to discourage it." Justin's face seemed to fall at these words, but Lucian continued, "However, there is precedent aboard the Galactica in the situation between Apollo and Sheba, among others, so I'm not going to order a transfer at this time. What I will 'suggest' is that, while Lieutenant Rose remains in your squadron, she not be assigned as your wing, not be in your flight wing, and not accompany you personally on any missions." There was a heavy emphasis on the word "suggest," and Justin appeared to understand the meaning.
"While she remains in my squadron, Sir?" he questioned.
Lucian nodded as they turned a corner, heading back toward the Bridge. "Unfortunately, if there are any problems resulting from this, Commander Sheba or Colonel Charybdis will, I am sure, order a transfer, IF I don't beat them to it."
"Understood, Sir."
"Personally, Justin, I wish you and Rose well with this. As a Warrior, love is sometimes difficult to find," Lucian said, feeling a twinge regarding his recent recollections, "and even more difficult to enjoy...or keep. As you know, duty always must come first, even if it means, as a fellow Warrior's commanding officer, sacrificing the one you love." As they arrived at the door to the Bridge, Lucian planted the cane on the deck and extended his hand to his friend... * * * JustinB Shaking Lucian's hand, knowing I had his confidence made my day.
"If would excuse me Sir, I must attend to rounding up some warriors for the upcoming mission. Thank you for the advice also; I give you my word that the Callisto and her well being come well before my needs. Since I will be sitting this mission out so I can get used to running a Squadron you will see a lot of me on the bridge. Once the mission is complete, I would like to buy you a few rounds in the O'Club. That is if you have no objections."
After exchanging a few more pleasantries I made my way back to the Black Squadron Office. About halfway there, I decided to pay Major Brie a visit. I hoped she would be in her office. Once I arrived I knocked on the door. Would she be there? * * * Skyler Brie and Charybdis sat in Brie's office talking when Skyler walked in wearing civilian clothes.
"Captain, why are you out of uniform?" Charybdis asked rising from his chair.
Brie rose and walked around to the side of the desk they were on. It was a question she wanted an answer to as well. She knew Skyler, and this was the first time she had ever seen him in civilian clothes. Heck, she didn't even know he owned civilian dress of any kind.
"I came to hand this in." Skyler stated, handing a piece of paper to Charybdis.
"What in the frack is it?" Charybdis asked with a puzzled look on his face.
"My resignation" was all Skyler said. The look on Brie and Charybdis's faces was one of total shock.
"You had better have one damn good reason for this Skyler?"
"I do sir" with this statement Skyler reached over and pulled Brie to him, "and this is it" with one arm holding her around her waist, and the other one around her shoulders Skyler leaned her back and started to kiss her deeply. Brie reached her arms up wrapped them around Skyler's neck and kissed him back. Time seemed to stand still until...
"SKYLER!!!! What are you doing!!!!!" * * * Skyler jumped up, and looked around his quarters, it had been a dream. He had fallen asleep on the couch. Standing in front of him was his old friend Zeke, a Sgt. with the Colonial Infantry. Zeke didn't look happy as he stood there holding an empty bottle of ambrosia.
"I was just sleeping Zeke, when did that become a crime?" with a big grin on his face as he remembered the dream he was having.
"When it is well into the cycle, and you are supposed to be on duty, that's when, and wipe that stupid grin off your face. You look like love sick daggit"
"Its ok, the Commander and Major Brie know where I am."
Shaking the bottle at Skyler "and what about this. I thought after the last time you would have learned...."
"Calm down, I just had a few hits out of it. A friend was here last night, and drank it to help close a chapter on their life. Thats all, a one time thing, don't worry."
"I can't help but worry, after Kellie, you hit the bottle hard. Wasted drunk for three sectons. Took some doing, a lot of the guys pulling extra shifts until I got you cleaned up, but it never hit your record."
"I know, and I will never be able to repay you or those guys. I owe you my life, and my career."
"You repay us each time you launch in that shinny fighter of yours and save this ship. We all know you would do it for us if the roles had of been reversed, so forget it." Zeke paused for a few microns, "So, who is this mystery friend?" * * *

Skyler "I can't tell you Zeke. I do not think....."
"Cut the felgercarb Skyler, you can tell me her name, who am I going to tell?"
"I can't tell you their name." Looking his old friend in the eye. "and what makes you think it is a her?"
"I doubt you would be trying to cover one of the guys this bad, especially with me. Besides, last time I checked, 'one' of the guys didn't wear perfume."
Skyler had been around Brie so much the last few cycles, he hadn't noticed the smell of her perfume in the room, not until Zeke mentioned it.
"I still do not know what you are talking about."
Zeke glanced around the room for a couple of microns as Skyler tried to deny everything. Zeke turned back to Skyler with a silly grin on his face.
"Skyler, it doesn't matter, I already know."
Skyler did his best to look puzzled, but he knew Zeke had known him to long to really fall for it. He also could tell he really knew.
"I understand you not wanting to talk about it, but if you ever do, you know how to find me." Zeke turned to leave and stopped. "A while back, after Mara left, you told me you thought she would had understood your commitment to being a Warrior, and I am sure part of her did. She was just selfish, she wanted you all to herself, she didn't want to share you with the rest of the fleet. Well, I can promise you that this one will understand, she isn't selfish, she will share you with the Fleet. She understands the importance both of you play to the survival of our race. Unless I am wrong, and I do not think I am, she is willing to give up her chance to love you, for the Fleet. I know because the two of you are cut from the same cloth."
"Not that I know who you are talking about, but what do you mean."
"If you want to play it that way, ok, but other than youself, you would be hard pressed to find anyone in the fleet that has devoted some much of them selves to being a Warrior. You both are children of Warriors. Both grew up with dreams of being Warriors, both willing to die, to give up everything, including love, because of being a Warrior. Trust me boy, you two were meant for each other."
"Zeke, my father was in the Colonial Militia, stationed on Caprica, my mother a teacher. They were not Warriors. Hell, they were pushing me to be anything but a Warrior. My mother had dreams of me being a protector for the Tribunal."
"Skyler, your parents didn't want your life cut short, your father met your mother right after she graduated. He was a Lt. serving on the Battlestar Rycon. In an unnamed battle he got shot up kinda bad. The Alpha landing bay was ablaze, so they only had Beta bay. Your father refused to land until all the others landed before him. He didn't want to risk his shot up Viper crashing, and closing the only remaining landing bay. Because of this, his medical treatment was delayed, he suffered a lot of nerve damage in his leg, that could have been fixed if he had landed sooner. His flying career was over, so he transfered to the Militia on Caprica. Your mother was in love with him by then, so she gave up her career to be with him. They were married, and had you. They kept the past from you in hopes you wouldn't end up like so many of their friends."
Skyler stood looking at Zeke. He had never knew his parents were Warriors. He never really bought the hovercar story as to his fathers limp, but Warriors.....
"I gotta run Skyler, we can talk later. I will be glad to answer any questions I can, but right now I am running late. I gotta get back to the troopers, training and all. You know how it is."
Skyler's mind was a maelstrom of thought.. the news about his parents, his feelings for Brie, how Zeke knew, but Brie was still the most important thing on his mind.
"Zeke, before you go, not that I will say who was here, or even acknowledge that they were male or felmale, what makes you think you know who it is?"
"Thats too easy Skyler, I might be old, but I am not blind. Gotta run...."
Zeke left heading back towards the Infantry section of the ship. Skyler walked over to where he had stood and looked around the room. He could not see anything out of place. Paperwork on his desk, empty bottle of ambrosia, unmade bed, flight jacket on the bedside table, couch, office chair.....then Skyler's eyes saw it, while a flight jacket in a Warriors quarters was a common sight, major rank insignia in a captian's quaters wasn't....
"Frack!..........." * * * Medievalsong Kris just looked at Jarrynn. She knew that her twin's words held truth in them. But it was just so hard. She got up and grabbed her jacket. "Where are you heading?" Jarrynn inquired. Kris stopped and ran her hands through her hair and then dropping her hands to her sides. "I really don't know. Out, anywhere, somewhere, I don't really know. I just need to get out of here before I go insane. I don't know half the crew anymore! Everything has changed and I feel like I got left behind! I can't stand this feeling not knowing. Maybe if I talk to Major BatGal... Jarrynn stopped her in midsentence. She hated to break the news. "Uh Kris, BatGal is no longer your superior officer. JustinB just got promoted to squad leader and I saw him have you on the roster as third in command." Kris leaned against the lockers like the wind had just been sucked from her. She just blinked and then pulled herself up. She walked for the door. Jarrynn started to say something but Kris just made a motion with her hand to stop her sister from saying another word.
Kris headed down the cooridors, not caring where they led her. Her mind must have been on auto pilot as she ended up in the briefing room. She went to her old seat and pulled her name off it and placed Randrius' there. She looked around and visions from the past played in her mind. A smile played to her face as she replayed the meeting where they teased Major Lucian about being towed in by her. She went to her battle locker and found the "card" Amy had given her of the shot between the cylon's legs she did when they went through the bootcamp events. Just as fast as the memories had come, they were gone. Kris found herself standing alone in the room. Sighing deeply she willed herself to leave the room. She walked along till she found herself outside the traning room. She walked in and hit the lights. There was no class there. It was empty. She looked at all the sim vipers and again the ghosts from the past came to haunt her. Faces, voices of the past swirled around her. The scenes of when the squadron was in there, the good times, the bad times. It all haunted her. Scenes of her and Nat played in her head as well. She had not seen him in a long time...since she had gotten sick. Jarrynn said that she had not seen much of him. As much as it broke her heart, Kris couldn't blame him if he moved on. But some of her happiest moments came from being in the training room. She had hoped one day to move into the training department, but knew it would take much more work than she had already acquired. Taking one last good look around, she shut off the lights and headed to the launch bay. She found a viper, not sure who's, here lately she didn't know which one was hers anymore...or if it was still around. She ran her hand along the body of the viper and revelled in the feeling of it. Her thoughts went back to the first day her father had let her see his viper and when he let her sit in it. That was the day she decided she was going to be a warrior like her father. Now she was one. One that felt so lost and confused and alone. Feeling she needed to go, Kris walked on, not caring about the looks the landing crew gave her. She wondered up to the observation deck and found something that was familiar to her, her favorite spot looking at the stars. She sat down and pulled her knees to her chest as she always did in the past. Leaning her head against the coldness of the window she watched the colors that streamed past her. She looked around and it hit her. Everything didn't change she did. She saw faces everywhere; familiar and unknown. Never more did she feel more alone than she did right then and there. ~how can I feel so alone when there are so many people around me? I would rather deal with amnesia again than to deal with this.~ she thought. ~I need to congratulate Major JustinB and also Lt Randrius. And I guess I need to check with the colonel on my status soon too. To let him know I am still alive.~ But instead of moving, she just sat there and watched the colors swirl by. * * *

walksallroads Lt. Anubis walks in, his own head swimming. Memories of his past haunting him, wondering when he was going to be challenged, brought to the place of his...creation. When will the bounty-hunters come? He knew that they will come. His escape, along with that of his batch, would not go unpunished. In his pre-occupied state, he was glad of the rest, the respite. He had much to sort out. Not only the question of the hunters, but his feelings with Holodoc. He was grateful to her, for showing him what it means to be human, but his feelings are still new to him. Emotionally, he is little more than a fledgeling. He walks up to the window, and stares out, his face as blank as ever. He hears breathing next to him, and looks down, mildly surprised, at Captain Kris. He hasn't been able to talk to her recently. All he really knows is that something has happened to her, and she seems to be on the mend.
"And how are you feeling this cycle?" * * * Medievalsong The voice broke her thoughts and Kris looked up at Anubis and looked at him. He started to feel a bit uncomfortable and looked on each side of him. She just looked at him puzzled.
"Captain? How are you feeling?" He inquired again. Kris just blinked and sighed and looked back out the window.
"As well as can be expected I guess. Everything feels so different lately. Some things feel familiar and look familiar but its so different. People I knew are gone, there are more that I don't know." Kris let out an exasperated sigh. "Basically life went on and you feel like it left you behind?" "Yeah you can say that again. I just wish it was like it was before I got sick and all, but I know just sitting here and feeling sorry for myself is not going to make it better." She shifted in her seat and looked around. "Guess you heard about the change in leadership huh? Major JustinB is now in charge of black and Major BatGal will be heading to the bridge. Anibus, I don't even know who is all around anymore. And to be honest I feel very alone. Like I said its all so different."
Her gaze wandered through the sea of faces. She saw a few that she recognized, one that looked like how she felt. She saw Najinn sitting by himself. He looked like he could use a drink and a friend. Two things she could use also. She made a note to get drinks and take him one. Just as an offering of friendship.
She looked back at Anibus and sighed, "I feel so different. And for once I feel very lost and I don't like this feeling." * * * walksallroads He regards Kris a moment. "Some are destined to be alone, in one shape or another. Others, have always been alone, even in a crowd." He looks up to the stars again, his stone face showing none of the turmoil his own mind is in.
"Some can handle it better than others. I, for one, have always been alone, even among my batch-mates. We are taught to operate as individuals, furthering a last-case scenario. Many things are new to me, and I have, since coming aboard this ship, been accepted as human. I often question that. On the outside, I am human. I bleed, feel pain, and so forth."
Now he looks squarly at Kris. "You have a family." His use of the word 'family' is as if he has never had the occasion to use it very often. "What is it like?" * * * Medievalsong Family? That word bounced around in her head. She sighed as she thought of how to answer him. "What's it like to have a family? Geez you don't ask the hard ones do you?" She ran her hand through her hair again, moving it out of her face. "I don't know really. I have fond memories of my father. He was a warrior like us, but he died while I was really young. Mom did the best she could with us after that." "Yes but you have one that looks just like you. A twin." He pondered. Kris smiled. That was a good way to put it. "You mean Jarrynn? Oh yeah her." She giggled softly. "She is like having a best friend that knows what you will do and think before it happens." "Do you not get irritated that you look alike? Or tired of it?" He tilted his head to the side. "Tired? Naw, well sometimes, but it works out. To be honest, I would be lost with out her sometimes." ~like right now~ "Family is wonderful but it is painful sometimes too." "Painful?" "Yeah, like when they do something to hurt you, or they leave you and never come back. When they die...~pappa I miss you very much. I wish you were here to help me through this~ it hurts." "Oh I see. Then why have a family if it causes pain?" "Because for every bad thing there is so many good things. I don't know how else to describe it. Sorry." She tucked her knees tighter to herself, as if to hold herself for comfort. * * * walksallroads Anubis looks at Kris, somewhat bewildered. "Three of my batch-mates were reduced to their componant parts while we were in stasis. The enhancement fluid is fatally toxic after a certain point. I do not mourn them, not do I mourn our decision to leave the training facility. I do find myself bitter, however, that I was denied a proper family." He looks to the stars again, his eyes narrowed. His gaze softens to his customary blank expression. "What is it like to have a mother?" * * * Holodoc Holodoc had spent so much time there in MedLab lately she wasn't sure that she would recognize most parts of the Callisto other than the MedLab. It had been such a long time since she and Jarrynn had been able to have some downtime for awhile. Jarrynn had already left MedLab to spend a little time with her twin sister Kris and then get some much need rest as well. Holodoc had told Jarrynn she would finish that last report and then head out herself. So that ment Jarrynn could had a little more time with Kris. After finishing up the report and placing it on Doc Bkj's desk, Holodoc collected her cat Jadzia and her two remaining kittens, Abby Tabby and BrieCora placing them into a special carrier and heads out of MedLab.
Holodoc didn't want to go to her quarters right away, so she headed in the direction of the lounge for a little while. She hadn't been able to spend much time with Anubis lately and wondered how he was doing. Holodoc wanted to check up on him, but didn't want to pressure him any, for she knew that the feelings he was experiencing was still very new to him. She hoped he would be willing to let her help him through things that he wasn't familiar with in his feelings.
After a little more walking, Holodoc walked into the lounge area. She looks around and see's that Najinn is sitting off to one side by himself on one of the couches. Looking around a little more, Holodoc spots Kris and Anubis at another set of couches. Holodoc quietly walks towards them not wanting to interrupt their conversation right away. Still not wanting to interrupt the conversation any, Holodoc quietly sat down in the oversized chair that was there next to the couch and she takes Jadzia, Abby Tabby, and BrieCora out of the special carrier she had placed them in for the trip out of MedLab. Both Abby Tabby and BrieCora had grown so much over the last few months and she knew that it would be the same for Isis, Galen, and the others as well.
Sitting there quietly, Holodoc held Abby Tabby and BrieCora in her lap and played with them a little. Jadzia had jumped down off her lap for a little bit and stretched some as she landed on all four paws. Once she had stretched, Jadzia walked over to where Anubis was standing and rubs her head up against his legs as she walks around him. * * * Charybdis As per regulations for an outgoing squadron leader, Major BatGal has made the following recommendations:
Randrius and Killjoy have hereby been promoted to the rank of Captain in the Colonial Military in accordance with all rights and priveledges therewith.
Congratulations! <chorus of congratulations!> * * *

Brie Attention Gold Squadron,
I am looking to staff our upcoming mission to the Beta sector of Pangara Prime. If you would like to be considered, please contact me via my private line. (In other words, email me.) One word of warning, because of the position of the stars in the sector, if you have problems with bright lights please do not submit your name. It might be difficult even if lights don't bother you, so take that into consideration. If I don't get enough volunteers then I will assign warriors.
Anyone who has been on flight restictions needs to be checked out in the SIM's before consideration. If you're not sure if that means you schedule a session immediately. I would like everyone to be cleared, whether you're assigned to the mission or not, so get down to the SIM room ASAP.
If you have any questions please contact me.
Major Brie Gold Squadron * * * Stadia Stadia sat her butt down in the simulator. The hatch sliding shut as she placed her helmet on her head. She barely heard the techs talking to her. The response was almost automatic. She began flipping buttons, toggglling switches and soon she was off on her sim run. * * * JustinB I require 4 volunteers to take part in a survey mission in the Pangara Prime System. For those interested contact me A.S.A.P. If there are no volunteers, I will assign warriors to the mission.
All non-assigned warriors are ordered to attend Simulation Room 2, which includes any warriors on Flight Restrictions.
Major JustinB Black Squadron C.O * * * brotherjoe the drill sergeant told me to never volunteer for anything, but i say the heck w/ that. count me in. * * * Randrius Of course I'm in, can't let you boys have all the fun. * * * walksallroads I volunteer. Anubis * * * Medievalsong To volunteer?? please?? Capt Kris * * * Charybdis In accordance with all rights and priveledges of the Colonial Military, it is with great pleasure that Core Command bestows upon Dr. BKJ the rank of Lt. Colonel.
Her service and dedication to duty is second to none in the medical field. Many thanks to her for her professionalism and for saving many a Warrior in our most desperate times.
Congratulations! <chorus of congratulations!!!> * * *
Charybdis All pilots who have been ordered to bunk arrest or who have been restricted from flight duty are hereby reinstated to active flight status effective immediately.
Due to the sensitive nature of our next jump system, all available pilots are needed. The only exceptions are those who do not have medical clearance. * * * Lucian Majors:
On arrival in the Pangara system, have a four Viper wing from each of your squadrons on Standby in the launch bay Ready Rooms. While we do not anticipate problems, our survey flights will be gone for some time and we must be ready for anything we might encounter.
In addition, we will be on "yellow alert" in this system, so the remainder of our Warriors must be ready to scramble at a moment's notice.
Commander Sheba, Battlestar Callisto * * * Brie The following members of Gold Squadron have been chosen for the Pangara Prime mission:
Major Brie, commanding officer Captain Amy, Brie's wing
Captain Skyler, mission SIC Lieutenant Marcus, Skyler's wing
With myself and Captain Skyler both off-ship and Captain Cain on medical leave, Captain Stadia will be in change of squadron operations until we return. I expect you to treat her with the same respect that you would show to Skyler or myself.
Any questions contact me asap. I will give more details to the mission team when I have them. Until then, get some sleep.
Major Brie Gold Squadron * * * Charybdis All viper pilots assigned to this mission, report to your ships immediately after mission briefing and begin pre-flight check. Pilots will remain on alert for immediate launch once we arrive in the system... * * * Brie The following warriors are to be on standby, ready to leave at a microns notice:
Captain Stadia, commanding Lt. Hawke, SIC Lt. Artus Lt. Najinn
I will leave it up to Captain Stadia to assign who is her wing and who is Lt. Hawke's.
Major Brie Gold Squadron * * * Brie thought long and hard about the assignments for the upcoming survey mission. She tried to make the assignments as she would have a secton ago, before her life was changed forever. She wasn’t surprised that Skyler had volunteered, he volunteered for every mission. She found it harder than before to assign him, but she in the long run she was glad that he was going. There was no one that she trusted more, that was why she had made him her second-in-command. She knew that she had to put all this felgercarb about love out of her mind and just do her job. It was a crush, that was all. She couldn’t be in love with Skyler. It wouldn’t work, and once she got past having Turner declared dead she would think of Skyler the same way she always had. He was a good friend, he was there when she needed him. For them to be together one of them would probably have to leave the squadron, then who was going to watch her back? They had worked long and hard to develop their working relationship, and it had to stay the way that it was.
Receiving a message that she needed for staff a second flight, Brie looked over her list of available pilots. She was glad that some had been ungrounded. Although she was leaving Stadia in change while she was gone, she also put her in command of the second wing. It was time to show the other members of Gold Squadron why Stadia had made Captain. Looking further down the list Brie reluctantly added one name. Hawke. Brie could barely even think about him at the moment. He had turned her life upside down in a matter of centars, he had poked into things that she had asked him to stay out of, he had listened in on a private conversation where she told Skyler her deepest secret. And then he talked to her about trust. The mere thought of him made her want to scream. But he was qualified for the standby flight, and temporarily forgetting recent events he should be on the team. Proving to herself that she could put personal feelings aside, she added his name. Let Stadia deal with him. She submitted her picks to the bridge for approval. There was a knock on her door. Brie was surprised to see Major Justin. * * * There was a knock on Brie's door. "Enter," she called. To her surprise, it was JustinB. "Major, congratulations on your election. I know you'll do a fine job."
"Thank you," Justin said.
"Please, take a seat. So, to what do I owe this unexpected pleasure?" * * *

JustinB "Apart from the obvious that I have just taken command of Black Squadron, I just wanted to say Hello. Both our Squadrons are as you no doubt know are competitive against the other. One thing I would like to achieve is bring our Squadrons closer together. I haven't got any firm ideas how I would plan to do such a thing, so I thought I could run my initial thought by you and we could work from there." Taking another deep breath I continued.
"I know that it will have to wait until after the survey missions, but at least both yourself and I can take the initial steps. What do you think of my proposal?"
I hoped I hadn't over done it, because I truly believed in what I had said. * * * Brie “Sure,” Brie said. “I’ve always thought that the squadrons should be closer. We seem to trust each other in a battle, but when we’re on-ship that trust doesn’t always carry over. I’m assigned to the survey mission, but once it’s over why don’t we meet for lunch or something. We’ll see what we can come up with.” She held out her hand towards Justin. * * * JustinB "Good luck Major and happy hunting. May the Lords of Kobol Protect You," I said as I shook Brie's hand. Leaving Brie's office, I made my way to the turbo-wash. After selecting a clean uniform and a towel I undressed and stepped into the warm water.
Once completed I went to my office. Seeing I had a new message I opened it.
Majors:
On arrival in the Pangara system, have a four Viper wing from each of your squadrons on Standby in the launch bay Ready Rooms. While we do not anticipate problems, our survey flights will be gone for some time and we must be ready for anything we might encounter.
In addition, we will be on "yellow alert" in this system, so the remainder of our Warriors must be ready to scramble at a moment's notice.
Commander Sheba, Battlestar Callisto
I run my fingers down the list for three other warriors to join me in the Beta Launch Bay Ready Room. * * * Stadia Stadia looked at the communique again to be sure her eyes hadnt failed her a second time. Being left in charge of the squadron was one thing but to be ungrounded....
Stadia keyed the following into the comm panel.
Capt. Stadia and Lt. Najinn wingman Lt. Hawke, SIC and Lt. Artus.
She didnt know about the selection as she pressed the enter key. If everything she heard about Hawke was true, she should be wary of him.
She sighs as she realizes this is a mission and she was in charge even if they never left the launch bay. * * * Brie <to Stadia> Captain,
I have assigned Lt. Hawke as SIC for the stand-by flight. He's a good pilot, (although his ego matches his skills). I'm hoping that by giving him a little bit of responsibility he'll become more of a team player. Keep an eye on him and don't take any felgercarb from him. I'm sure that he'll be fine. Let me know how it goes once I'm back.
Major Brie * * * JustinB The following members of Black Squadron have been assigned to the Pangara Prime mission:
Captain Randrius, Mission Commander Lieutenant Brotherjoe, Randrius's Wing
Lieutenant Anubis, Mission SIC Lieutenant Rose, Anubis's Wing.
Briefing to be held before mission. As of now, those not on shift to rest up as much as possible.
All other warriors are to attend Simulation Training once mission has commenced.
Ensign Stargazor report to Med-Lab for final check-up.
Any questions please come and see me.
Major JustinB Black Squadron C.O * * * Randrius Randrius nodded as the orders scrolled across his terminal, he would be commanding this mission. Not surprising, given the new rank. The rank was what he had been surprised most by, he had really never considered living long enough to reach captain. He rolled out of bed and got dressed.
* * * JustinB It looked like the Sim training was going to be postponed. I was required to have an extra four officers in the beta Launch Bay Ready Room. Running my fingers through my hair I went through the list.
It was then I see we had a new Ensign. There was no better time like the moment to blood the Rookie. I alo knew that Stargazor had to seek medical clearance before flying and so did Killjoy. I hadn't seen him much of him since the Brie fiasco.
I posted the orders for the standby flight;
The following warriors are to report to the Beta Launch Bay Ready Room prior to launch.
Major JustinB; Ensign Jaz; Captain Killjoy and Ensign Stargazor.
Should Captain Killjoy and Ensign Stargazor not be medically cleared Ensigns Phoenix and Starbuck to take theri place.
As the Callisto will be on Yellow Alert in this system, all warriors are to be ready at a microns notice.
Major JustinB Balck Squadron C.O.
Once the orders were posted, I made my way to find Killjoy. I was worried about him and our friendship. I needed to get a few things straight. * * *
