Remake issues aside, is the new Battlestar Galactica a good piece of sci-fi?
My opinion is yes it is. I'd have been more interested in it if they wouldn't have tacked on the name "Battlestar Galactica". They should have set it on a different battlestar. Perhaps the Callisto? ;D

I can't say it if was good sci-fi or not, I didn't watch it. I thought about it, but the more promos and specials I saw for the mini the more I realized that I just wasn't interested. It wasn't just because I was mad at Sci-Fi because they were tacking the name of my beloved show onto their project (even though I was). Most of the "original programming" on Sci-Fi I have no interest in, and this was no different.
Now my cable company has made the decision for me, moving Sci-Fi to digital, which we don't have. (And won't have, since I already have enough channels I don't watch on basic cable!) The only show I miss is Stargate SG-1, and that will be on DVD soon enough.

Stargate SG1 is on DVD already. 7 seasons worth if I'm not mistaken.

That's what I meant to say. I'll have to wait for season 8 to come out on DVD. Season 7 made it there quickly enough! Until then I hear bits and pieces of what's been going on.

I have most of them, missing a few because of power outages or whatever, but being the brilliant person that I am I have yet to label the tapes, and I'm not getting to it anytime soon because the VCR is busted. (What do they make those things out of these days, Play Dough?) And what are you talking about, Hawke. You LOVE to get my goat! That's why our characters are just such close friends.....

Remake issues aside, is the new Battlestar Galactica a good piece of sci-fi? Better than I thought it would be, but with some major holes and weak spots. They did set a couple of things up neatly for a series though. The "Boomer" issue could be good, or it could be a bust. Depends how cloyingly "Star-Trekky the denouement of that particular plot point becomes. You could probably get shot around here for suggesting that. And they still didn't give the Colonies a balanced fleet. All we saw were the battlestars...

Is the New BSG any good? Same as Brie because no matter how curious I am, I won't watch it. They had a great sci-fi series and turned it all upside down. So I cant tell ya. I have no worries of ever watching it.

Posted on www.craveonline.com/scifi/stories.php?sid=1445******************************************** Sci-Fi channel is ahead of the curve on this one. They're going to be releasing Podcasts to accompany the final five episodes of 'Battlestar Galactica'. They'll have Ronald D. Moore doing a DVD style audio commentary, neat. The Sci-Fi Channel today announced the premiere of a new online feature meant to accompany the last five new episodes of Ronald D. Moore's BATTLESTAR GALACTICA. Termed "podcasting" for the popular IPod portable music platform, the broadcasts are available in MP3 format and can play on your computer or a multitude of other portable devices. "This DVD-style audio commentary from Battlestar executive producer and writer Ronald D. Moore utilizes the much buzzed-about podcasting technology, and is now available for weekly download at SCIFI.COM," according to a press release from the network. Each podcast is a full-length commentary on the episode of BSG by Moore, and can be downloaded in segments for each act or all at once. Beeps on the track indicate when to pause for commercials and you can listen right along with the episode. The podcasts will debut each Friday, with the commentary for "Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down" now available. The event will lead up to the April 1st season one finale of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA. Season two will begin in July. Get the low down on the BSG podcasts here and the "Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down" podcast here. Deleted scenes for the episode are also available in Quicktime format.
