It took its time to get to Oz, but the New BSG is here. I was almost tempted to watch it, but in the promo it said that there were cylons on the Galactica. PHEW That was close!!!! Nearly made the biggest mistake of my life.... All to their own, but it is not for me....

Justin, the new version of BSG isn't really all that bad, from what I've seen. It's depressing that they couldn't have done the same thing more or less with the original cast. It's okay, done decently enough, but it's not what I wanted from my BSG revival.
Also depressing, I saw a recent TV guide at the store that had the new BSG on the cover, raving all about it. That could have been OUR BSG, with the original cast!
Even more depressing, I saw the DVD of the new BSG pilot at the store, and in bold letters on the back it announced something like "Better than the original!" ....
I put it back right there. Nobody's going to convince me of that, no matter how successful this new version becomes.

I already pointed out that most of the weapons props from the new show are nothing more that stock handguns that can be bought at you local gun shop. (That is if ya pass the background check!) Smith and Wesson and Walther gun sales may take an up swing in sales due to “product placement…..lol.
Well…I confess I watched the new show again. I’m sorry but it’s a little like passing a major car wreck on the interstate…u want to look away from the grotesque image but you just can’t. Besides…it’s darn funny!
The season ends with a few really hilarious twists. There has been a little sub-plot back on Caprica all this time with a “Boomer” model Cylon and it’s Co-pilot. It never made any sense to me why this was such a big deal till last Friday. The “Boomer” model Cylon on Caprica….is now pregnant. Yeah you read right…pregnant with the baby of a HUMAN male. See…told ya it was funny.
Now…there is another “Boomer” model on the Galactica itself. Scary eh? At the end of the show last week…it put two rounds from its Smith and Wesson into Adama’s chest. Not funny in and of it self….but the fact it got all emotional and cried after it shot him was rather funny I thought. Emotional Cylons….go figure eh?
We finally got to see the inside of a Baseship though….(yep you guessed it…more savings in the CGI and costuming department)it’s another living machine manned with human type Cylons. In fact…not a single CGI robotic Centurion in the last 4 episodes. Great way to cut cost on an already cheap product….don’t ya think.
Under the direction of the President, Starbuck more or less stole a captured Cylon Raider and used its FTL drive to fly it back to Caprica to retrieve the “Arrow of Apollo”. The president wants it to open the tombs on Kobal…witch they have found now. Now I say “stole” because the Commander knew nothing about this and the flight was just supposed to be a weapons test of some kind…then poof…Starbuck jumps away leaving Apollo far behind. This lil incident got he president tossed into the brig by the Commander. Now exactly at what point a military leader becomes more powerful than a legally appointed president…I’m not sure.
Apollo decides Pop is out of line by ordering the presidents arrest and tries to defend her and, after holding a gun (yes another S&W) to Colonel Tigh’s head, is arrested right along with her. Last ya see of him is in shackles on the bridge when daddy gets two shots to the chest.
My opinion? No matter what name they stuck on it…it wouldn’t be good Sci-Fi. The story in and of it self is very weak and way to confusing to follow…..but it is darn funny! Sci-Fi just needs to fess up and admit that they lack original thinking so the fall back on the ideas of others with hope of making it works again.
Don’t believe me? Let’s have a look shall we? “Stargate SG-1” an original Sci-Fi series?…..nope…aired on HBO then FOX as a weekly series long before hitting Sci-Fi. “Stargate Atlantis”…ok…maybe a lil….they did it first…but still a spin-off of some one else’s work….therefore not original. “Andromeda” ….billed as original Sci-Fi series….but again…aired on FOX way before Sci-Fi. But there’s another twist to Andromeda….new episodes STILL AIR ON FOX!
No I’m not bashing the new show…if fact I praise it greatly….if it don’t win the Comedy of the Year Award….I’m gona be really ticked. And I’m not bashing Sci-Fi either….just pointing out the obvious.
I will say that it was nice to see Richard Hatch on T.V again…in fact the two episodes Hatch participated in are the only ones I really enjoyed. Maybe it was seeing a childhood hero on the screen again. It was a little rough trying to Picture him as a semi-bad guy at first, but he did a great job with a very complex character.

Sliders also did not originally air on SciFi even though they made it sound like it did.
