"Commander Sheba, we've downloaded the Survey Team's information. The jump point is very near where we'd suspected. Calcs will be ready in a few centars."
"Good. Plot a course to the jump point, and proceed with caution. Let me know as soon as you have results," she said.
"Commander, there is one other thing. They've confirmed our readings. There is a lot of ship debris in this system. It looks like at least one or maybe more ships haven't made it through in the past."
Sheba looked at him and said, "Ensign, those ships were not this Battlestar were they? I'm going back to bed. Wake me when you have results. Goodnight."

Major Lucian had been awaken as well when the Callisto picked up the returning team on the short range scan. He welcomed Anubis, JustinB, Kris, and Rose. "Great job, team. Let's get to the debriefing over in Alpha Bay, and then you folks need to get some rest. Welcome back!"
Kris hesitated for a moment, and said, "Major, may I join you in a couple of centons? I'd like to talk to someone," she said motioning toward Lieutenant Resonat who was standing just outside the flight line.
"Make it quick, Lieutenant," he said. "We'll meet you there in a few centons. He nodded toward Nat, who smiled and came forward to finally see his girl.

In the Rec Room, several off duty crew members were still in the room. They'd finally gotten their turn at the billiards table. They racked up the balls on the table and prepared to play.

Now that I was finished with that chemical scan I had a chance at FINALLY relaxing. I wonder who's locker that was that Winnie went to tell Skon about. I took a look around the Rec Room and spotted a pool table... OOOHHHHHH!!! Pool was my strong point... I fondly recall some system tournaments I was in and won. The competition was reasonably tough,but nothing I couldn't handle. I plop the necessary cubits down and wait for the game that was in progress to end. "Who's next?" The winner asks. "I am." I say. I grab a cue from the wall. I roll it on the table checking for straightness. It's straight enough. "What's your game?" I ask. "You know how to play Caprican 9-Ball?" my opponent asks. OMG!! My heart leaped into my mouth. That was the game I was ESPECIALLY good at. "Yeah,reasonably well." I answered. "Rack 'Em up then.." he said. I start racking the balls and he says "I'm Gosshen, what's yours?" "Hawke. Good to meet you Gosshen." I replied. I lift the rack and he breaks. 2 balls go in. He shoots all the balls in and blows the 9. "Tough break." I say. I get up and shoot the 9 in. "Want to go again?" I ask. "Yeah, what the hell. Why not? Same game?" he replies. "Sure." I say. He racks the balls,and lifts the rack. I blow the pack open and get a 9-ball break in the corner. I won again! "Ok. That was luck!" Gosshen says. I just shrug. "Ok, I'll put 10 cubits up saying you can't do that again!" he says. "Ok." I say. I dig 10 cubits out and put it on the edge of the table. He digs 10 cubits out and puts his up on the edge of the table. He racks the balls up again. I break the pack wide open and the 9-ball goes in the same corner as before. "Looks like I win." I reach for the money but he puts his hand down on mine. "Let's switch gears. Sagitarian 8-Ball. 100 cubits a rack for 7 racks. You're getting TOO lucky." he says. "Fine by me." I say.I grab the cubits from the table and I plop the money down as does he. He racks the balls and lifts the rack. I take a look around as he racks and notice some of the people from the latest mission are starting to filter in. There's a small crowd gathering around. I hear mumbling like "Those two guys are playing for 100 cubits a rack!" "Hey! You gonna stand there daydreaming or are we gonna play?" Gosshen asks. "Oh, sorry." I mumble. I bend down and break the pack open. Get 3 balls in. I look at Gosshen and he's standing there rolling his eyes. "I can't fracking believe this." he mumbles. I smile to myself. If you only knew. I get two more balls in and purposely blow the next one. I sit down and take a drink of grog. He goes ahead and takes that rack. 1-0 his lead. I rack them again. He breaks the rack open and nothing goes in. "Damn." I hear him say. "You know what? I was going to go over to the gambling chancery later, but I feel like wasting some cubits. How about a side wager?" I ask. He looks annoyed. "What kind of a side wager?" he asks. "How about after the 7 racks the winner gets an additional 700 cubits?" I suggest. "Are you hustling me?" he asks. "Absolutely.....not." I lied. He eyes me suspiciously. "You're on." he says. I go up and clear the next 6 racks bringing the score up to 6-1 my favor. By this time I could see Gosshen stewing. I'm almost embarrassed to be taking this guy's money. He starts racking the balls again. By this time there is a huge crowd. I hear more muttering. I wonder if Rose is watching this. He lifts the rack. "Oh, Gosshen.. By the way, I'm a 6 time All-Sagitarian 8-Ball champion." I break the pack open and get the 8-ball in. "You're WHAT??" he asks. "You heard me." I said. He grabs me by my shirt and gets into my face. "Give me one good reason why I shouldn't take you out right here and now." he says. I look around and tell him "Because there are about 50 witnesses and I'll report you to the commander." "You know, I really don't care!" he says. "I REALLY wish you hadn't said that." I said. I grab him by the wrist and put a nerve hold on him. He immediately goes down to his knees. "Ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow!" he says. "Pay up!" I say. "Jacket lower left pocket! OW! Let go!!" he manages to groan out. I reach in his pocket and get the apropriate cubits out. I let go of him and say sweetly "Thanks." He gets up and starts shaking his arm.

I looked at him smiling at me. I walked over with a smile on my face. "Hey stranger." he said still smiling. "Stranger am I? We'll just see about that!" I feigned a hurt look then a spiteful grin. As I poked lightly on his sides to tickle him. Then he just hugged me. "It feels good to come back from a mission to this, Nat." He just looked down at me and kissed me. We started walking to the breifing room and he had his arm around me. I felt like I was walking on air. "What is this I hear from the techs you were getting worried? and that you were out there as they say pestering them?" I giggled. He tried to look innocent and shrugged with that smile, he could get away with anything in my book. "Hey can't I be worried about you?" "You better be or I would think something was wrong." "So how bad was it out there?" "Well the Lords of Kobol were watching over us that's all I got to say till debriefing. We could have lost one of ours out there. Thankfully it was just a cracked canopy but still I was nervous about that." "You survived being secong on a mission." He smiled. "Yeah I did! I am sure there will be more. Looks like Gold just landed I guess I aught to head in there. Dinner later? Maybe a walk?" He smiled and kissed my forehead. "After you get some sleep." I mock saluted him with a smile. "Don't have to repeat that order to me! I will buzz you when I wake up? Or is there a certain time you want to meet?" I could see Major Lucian looking out the door. I knew I needed to head in. "We will just meet up after you rested some ok? Get in there before we get in trouble!" I smiled and headed to the debreifing room. I tried to hide my smile as I could feel Major watching me. I took my seat and tried to look innocent. But I am sure he knew, after the moon mission I think the whole squad knew. But I didn't mind. Major Lucian proceeded with the debriefing. I knew my two guys in my life were going to be there when I woke up...Galen and Nat.

The survey mission debriefing had started in Alpha Bay just a few moments after Lieutenant Kris had joined the rest of the team members. Rose and JustinB were whispering together, watching as she entered, almost giggling until they saw Lieutenant Anubis looking their way. The Gold Squadron Warriors were smiling, and Major Lucian stood in the back of the room, watching and waiting.
"Sorry I'm late," said Kris as she sat down, looking back to Lucian. He nodded to her then toward then arched an eyebrow as if to say, "Look forward."
"So good of you to join us, Lieutenant," said Gold Squadron's Flight Officer Solan, who was handling the debriefing. "Let's get started. We have received the electronic data, and it is being analyzed now. Beginning with Lieutenant Amy, please give a short report of your observations and any useful information. Each of you will file your complete mission report after you get some rest."
Lieutenant Amy stood and started her report. Solan stopped her occassionally with a question, and the others sometimes stepped in to give additional background information to supplement her statement.
As she was concluding, she said, "When we had to blast a piece coming at us, it seemed like we always ended up with so many more pieces that someone else had to dodge. We tried not to shoot unless we were forced to do it."
Solan nodded and said, "Thank you, Lieutenant. Lieutenant Anubis, do you have anything to add?"
After Anubis was finished, the others got a turn as well, and within a centar, there was a good feel for what they had faced. It was a dangerous place out there with chunks of debris zipping around seemingly everywhere.
Solan concluded with a few final questions to the group then said, "Thank you all for your excellent efforts and for bringing your Vipers home safely. Ensign JustinB gets the award for bringing his ship in with the most damage. Ensign, if I were you, I wouldn't try to win that prize again! Finally, get some rest, and file your complete reports by 05:00 during first shift. You are excused from duty until that time, but don't forget to check your squadron assignments at that time. Good--Oh, by the way. For anyone who is interested, I saw a note that there will be a billiards tourney in the Rec Room during the next jump. Our friends the Techs have challenged us Warriors. If you get some time off, you might want to put in some practice if you want to be on the Warrior team. That is all. Good night!"
Lucian, despite being an engineer and very good with physics, had never developed a real affection for the game. He knew where the balls needed to be hit based on impact angles and other factors, but he could never get just the right force on the ball to make it do what he wanted. He shook his head, hoping that there were some good pool players in the squadrons.
* * *
In the Rec Room, the Silver Spar Squadron members from the short range mission were watching the game between Hawke and Gosshen. After Gosshen had been forced to pay up, one of the Frodarians came up with a paper that he held up to Officer Hawke. He said, "Officer, a pool tournament there will soon be between Warriors and Techs. If you ask, open it they might to everyone on Battlestar, including Black Shirts."
Hawke glared at the Frodarian for using the offensive term, but the Frodarian didn't seem to understand, so Hawke said, "Listen friend, we don't take it kindly when people talk like that. You better learn that real quick, so some of my more hot headed Security friends might get it in their heads to teach you. Got it? Thanks for the info, though," he said, taking the paper from the Frodarian.
The Frodarian just stood there as Hawke turned away. He asked a fellow Frodarian, "Said I what to offend?"
The other shrugged and said, "No idea have I." They started racking the balls to play a Frodarian version of the game.

JustinB
After the survey mission debriefing, JustinB was in two minds of what to do next. The smell of sweat coming from his uniform dictated what he would do. He made his way back to the Black Squadron barracks, grabbed his towel and made his way to the turbowash. After a relaxing wash, JustinB put on a new uniform.
He then started to fill in his post-mission report. He squeezed in a small line about his canopy being cracked. Once completed he made his way to Major Lucian's Office and knocked on the door. There was no answer. He then decided to file it as soon as soon as he begins the first shift.
With the report done he decided to head to the O'Club for a while. On his way he notices that Fleet Security Officers are frantically looking for something or someone. 'Just as long as they don't bother me'JustinB thinks to himself.
As he rounded the corner, there was the O'Club. Knowing that if any of the mission team members were in the O'Club and that he would have to buy at least buy one round, JustinB entered without a care in the world.

Ensign Eirkhr had sought to meet with Lt Najinn in Med Lab, he was acting very strange. He all but collapsed after Nurse Jarrynn helped him onto a gurney and wheeled him closer to Najinn's room. She was not sure if she wanted him to get near the strange-acting Ensign.
Najinn came out of his room and walked off with Nurse Jarrynn to confer about the strange request from Eirikhr.
Eirikhr was convulsing on the gurney, his eyes rolling around in his head. His ears began to bleed a slight bit. Something was happening to him, whether it was real or imagined, no one could tell. He was left alone by Najinn's room.
After a few centons when Lt. Najinn decided to see what was going on with the Ensign, he returned with Nurse Jarrynn to the room.
However, something was very strange. The gurney was there just where Jarrynn had left it, but there was no sign of Ensign Eirikhr anywhere. They looked around the Med Lab and checked the threshold device to confirm that no one had left the room. It was as if the Ensign had just disappeared into thin air...
She put a call in to Fleet Security to locate the Ensign immediately and notified the Bridge just in case. This was definitely something to keep an eye on.

The message was strange. As I read the report from the Med Lab, I wondered what our new Ensign was up to. His tales of alternate realities had shaken some, made others doubt him, but just plain sounded strange whether it was true or not.
I immediately put in a call to Major Brie. Ensign Eirikhr was in her squadron, so she needed to know of his disappearance ASAP.
I charged her with finding him fast. The last thing we needed onboard the Callisto was an ensign thinking he was from an alternate reality running loose. Who knows what he was capable of?
I also issued the order that Ensign Eirikhr was to be apprehended and taken immediately to the brig for detention as soon as he was found.
It was time to put a stop to this madness.
Lt. Col. Charybdis

Brie
Major Brie gathered every available member of Gold Squadron to help assist in the search for Ensign Eirikhr. She also alerted Captain Urdea, asking for the help of Fleet Security. She gave the orders that Eirikhr was to be detained by whatever means neccessary, but all blasters were to be set for stun. They would find him.

Lucian
Sergeant Whitcher sent the following message a few centons after Urdea arrived in the Fleet Security office.
To: All Fleet Security Personnel From: Captain Urdea RE: Ensign Eirikhr (File attached)
All personnel are called to duty, regardless of current duty status.
The Callisto is to be searched for the missing Ensign who disappeared from the Med Lab earlier in the shift. He may have a mental condition, so when encountered, use extreme caution, but do not harm him unless you consider your life to be threatened. As a precaution, all Security Officers are to be armed with stunners. Officers eligible to carry laser pistols are to use them as a last resort only, and then only according to standard procedures.
Signed,
Sergeant Whitcher for
Captain Urdea

A short time later, with the Security Force fully mobilized, negative reports started arriving from around the Battlestar Callisto.

It had been a long cycle shift. I was getting tired already. The mission had come back safe and sound and now we were trying to come up with our best course of action to get us to the jump point. It wasn't going to be pretty.
With supplies running dangerously low, we needed to get back to the fleet, and quick.
Reports started coming in from all quadrants of the Callisto. Lt. Aegina gave me the rundown. "All areas report no sightings of Ensign Eirikhr, Colonel."
"That can't be. He can't just have disappeared off this ship. He has to be hiding somewhere." I thought some more, thinking of any possibilities. "Has any of the vid comm's brought up anything? I can't believe that he didn't show up on one of them somewhere."
Aegina spoke up again, "No, sir. All vid comm terminals have been checked for the time before and after Nurse Jarrynn made her report. No sighting of Ensign Eirikhr has taken place."
I shook my head. It just didn't make sense. Warriors had "disappeared" for awhile before, but this was totally different. We had a full out search for him, Gold squadron, the Fleet Security, vid comm analysis, everything. And he still didn't turn up.
I put in a call to Major Brie to see what she had come up with. I didn't like this one bit...
* * *
Brie
Major Brie had searched for the missing ensign herself for awhile, but had to stop because she had a mission to plan. During her search she had noticed two of the Black Shirts looking at her in a way that just felt strange. She decided to warn Amy, everyone knew that Amy was living in Brie's quarters for security reasons, maybe the danger wasn't over yet.
As Brie poured over her roster trying to decide who to assign to the mission, she kept receiving reports from various parts of the Callisto. Eirikhr was no where to be found. Once again the intercomm buzzed, this time it was Lt. Col. Charybdis. "Brie, what have you come up with?"
"Nothing," was her reply. "No one has seen a trace. Either he's hiding really well, or he's just disappeared."
"You don't mean to say that you believe what he was..."
"No," Brie said. "I don't think he disappeared like that. I think maybe he committed suicide. Threw himself into the trash compactor, or burned up inside an engine, something that wouldn't leave much behind. That could give some credit to my theory about him having been a Cylon spy. And it would make it look like he disappeared. He had wanted so badly for us to believe him."
"Makes sense," Charybdis agreed. "But don't call off the search yet. I'm still not convinced that he's not hiding."
* * *
Charybdis
We were still going over the readouts with nothing turning up. Lt. Aegina started to say something...'
"Colonel, there's something that's turned up."
"What is it, Lt?" I asked.
"Well, it's coming from the Delta quadrant of the ship. That includes the Med Lab. There's a record that shows that a small garbage chute was activated in one of two garbage areas slightly after Nurse Jarrynn filed her missing report of Ensign Eirikhr."
I thought a moment. "Well, there's nothing wrong with that. They always jettison garbage."
"Yes, sir. But this activity does not fit in with the scheduled jettisons. It should not have occurred at that time."
"Who is in charge of that area?" I asked.
She punched some buttons and up popped the name on her vid comm. She said, "It's under Fleet Security control. Cpt. Urdea would be the one to ask."
"Send a message to Urdea telling him of the garbage chute. Tell him to find out all he can about it."
Things were getting stranger and stranger in this case.

Amy81
I had put in a little time on the search, and had come up with absolutely nothing. Where in the world had Eirikhr gone to? I thought back to my short talk with the ensign. Had he disappeared as mysteriously as he had appeared? I wondered about his tale and how much he believed it. Had he been telling the truth all along? I had wanted to talk further with him. I never counted on never seeing him again.
Rounding a corner, I nearly bumped into Brie coming the other way.
"Any luck?" I asked.
"Nothing" Brie replied, "Although Charybdis is pursuing a rather odd lead." She must have noticed that my mind was elsewhere. "How are you doing? Nice job leading the mission."
I winced a little. "Yeah" I replied. But I really hadn't done that great a job. Misreading information wasn't a good trait in a mission leader. I didn't elaborate further. I figured Brie might just mistake my mood for what I had confessed to her before the mission. "I'm heading for a shower and then the O-club. Maybe see you up there?"
* * *
Brie
"The O-Club, huh?" Brie replied. "Maybe for a few centons. Just juice for me, though, since I'm assigning myself to the mission."
"You are?" Amy was obviously surprised.
"I do get to go on them sometimes," Brie said. "And right now, the thought of being in a viper and AWAY from everything that's happened here is too good to pass up. So, unless I get complaints from higher up, I'm going. Listen, I have to post orders. I'll see you at the O-Club in just a little bit."

I buzzed the comm on the Commander's door and I entered after it slid open. Sheba was working at her desk, but she was not in uniform. She was wearing a flowing light green gown. We didn't see her much out of uniform, but on special occasions when senior officer's had dinner with her in her quarters, she dressed in civilian clothing.
She was a woman who was strong-willed and as military as they could come, what else than Commander Cain's daughter, but she could also be a very beautiful woman when she wanted to.
"Charybdis, anything on our missing Ensign?" she asked.
"Nothing, Commander. Not a sign of him. But there has been something that has come up. A garbage chute in Delta quadrant was activated. It was not on the routine schedule either. I don't know if it means anything, but I have Urdea looking into it just in case."
She shook her head wondering. I asked her carefully, "Commander, you don't really think he was telling the truth?"
"He did know a lot of facts about the beings of light and especially my contact with them yahrens ago."
I replied, "Yes, Commander, but that contact is not classified information. It's been around the fleet quite awhile ever since it happened. In fact, it's almost common knowledge. I mean, I even knew about it and I was only 10 yahrens old at the time. He could have picked it up along the way and used it to his advantage, for whatever purpose. And remember, he didn't know about my recent contact with them. He wouldn't have known since he was not aboard the Callisto then. Given that fact, I am inclined not to believe him."
She ruminated what I had said for a little while. Then she spoke, "So, we now have the options of either believing what he was telling us or that he possibly killed himself by ejecting out of a garbage chute?"
I nodded, but added one more thing, "There's also one more option. If it was him going through the garbage chute, it might not have been a suicide."
"Someone murdered him." I couldn't quite tell if Sheba phrased it as a question or a statement. "It's a possibility. Right now, everything is a possibility," I replied.
She took a deep breath. "Alright, let me know if anything else turns up on him. Get ready for the upcoming missions. We don't want to waste too much time here. Others have not been so lucky in this asteroid field. And I'm sure our people want to get back to the fleet. It seems we've lost the cylons, so that's the best news we've had."
"I'm on it, Commander." I acknowledged. "Will there be anything else?"
"Not right now. Once everything is set, you can take a shift off-duty. How are you feeling by the way?"
I remembered how sick I had been lately. "Just fine now, Commander, thank you. It seems we have a crack medical staff." I smiled.
Sheba smiled too. "Well, take care of yourself, Colonel. I'll be on the bridge within a centar."
I saluted and left her quarters. We were lucky to have a commander like Sheba...

“Lieutenant Proteus to Captain Urdea. We have some results, Sir, but I don’t think you’ll like them.”
“Lieutenant, have the team maintain control of the area around that garbage chute, and I’ll be there shortly,” said Urdea, wondering what Proteus meant. The Lieutenant was his best and most trusted officer, and if he didn’t like the result and wouldn’t discuss it over the comm, there would be a very good reason. Urdea sometimes felt lucky to have Proteus as his SIC, since he could just as easily have been a Colonial Warrior. Proteus had explained his early decision to join the Security Force as a desire to put his talents to work to make a real difference in the fleet while keeping his head small enough to fit through a door. Urdea, a former Warrior himself, understood the self-assuredness that Warriors needed and used so well to their advantage, but he also suspected that the same cockiness sometimes got them in trouble. He wondered if this could be the case with Ensign Eirikhr.
A few centons later, he arrived. He saw Proteus speaking with Lieutenant Geneive and one of her Sergeants, Wollase, who was holding a portable computer device. Urdea knew that Wollase was particularly adept at scanning for prints of all types. Proteus was pulling out all of the stops to solve this quickly.
“Captain, please join us,” said Proteus, “Wollase was just about to go over the results of some additional testing. Sergeant.”
“Yes, Sir. For a restricted portal, there are an awful lot of prints on it,” said Wollase. “The only thing that’s supposed to go in there are things that can’t be recycled, and you know there’s not that much of that. Still, I was able to find prints from 32 persons, including three Frodarian children, but none were recognizable as that of Ensign Eirikhr. They could be here and just be smudged, though, and we wouldn’t even know it.”
“In addition to the prints, Sir, the scanner shows that a lot of organic matter has passed through, but due to the nature of this thing, that’s to be expected,” said Lieutenant Geneive. “Ensign Eirikhr could have gone through in one piece, many pieces, or not at all, and we wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. We can do some DNA sampling, but that’s a very messy job, might take several sectons to complete, and probably wouldn’t reveal anything anyway, so unless you just want it done—”
“I do,” said Urdea and Proteus simultaneously. They looked at each other in agreement, and Urdea continued, saying, “Get started, Lieutenant. We’re wasting time.”

I contemplated entering the Froderan pool tournament. It might be a good idea,but I didn't know what games they played. Litterally. As I'm weighing the issues a feeling seems to be coming over me that I seemed to have forgotten something. The same feeling that I got when I woke up in my bunk 2 sectars earlier. This is too weird. I make my way down to the Med Lab. I look for Holodoc but she seems to be off-cycle. Damn. I leave a message with the duty nurse to have Holodoc get ahold of me. I then head down to the commander's ready room and there are 2 security officers standing at the door. They look at me like I'm a two headed daggit. "You can't go in there. The commander's in a de-breifing meeting with the mission crew." one of the guards say. "Is Lt. Rose in there?" I ask. "I think so. They should be another centar." "Ok. I'll wait." I said. And I took a seat on the bench.

Rose headed out the door when the debriefing broke up and after letting Lt Kris, Lt Anubis, and Ensign JustinB know that she would catch up with them in the O'Club in a little while. She wanted to see if she could find Hawke first before doing anything else. Kris teased her a little on the way out of the briefing about who she was going to see. Rose teased Kris back by saying that at least she has gotten to see her man already and would more than likely be seeing him again if she had her way.
When Rose walks out of the briefing room she see's Hawke sitting over on a bench waiting for her. She walks over to him and asks, "You waiting for me hot stuff? Or should I say Maverick?"
* * *
Hawke14
"Maverick? Is that some kind of a crack?" I ask Rose. "No, I just missed you. C'mere..." She pulls me close and gives me a deep passionate kiss. I return the favor with a deep embrace. "I'm starving. Want to get something to eat?" she asks. "Sure." I said. As we were walking Rose asked "What have you been up to?" I told her about the lockers that we found the anti-hydrous ketomethalyine in. "One of them was mine." I said. "Lords! How do you feel?"she asked. "I dunno. I feel like there's something I've forgotten. I don't know what though." I replied. "Maybe you should go see Holodoc. She might know why." she suggested. "I've left a message with her." I said. "Oh." she said. I told her about the pool table incedent too. "I wish I was there to see that!" she said. "I wish you were too. I've really missed you. I thought you were mad at me because of the Triad game. Are you?"
* * *
BSGRose
Rose looked over at Hawke with a puzzled look on her face. "Hawke," Rose says, "why would I be mad at you about the Triad Game? I figured you were mad at me about the game or for some other reason and that was why you were avoiding me. Since the game, I have tried to find you a few times so that we could spend a little time together and could never find you. I even tried finding you before I went out on this mission and had no clue as to where to start looking for you really. I figured that you wanted nothing more to do with me and was just avoiding me to get the point across." Rose grew quiet as she and Hawke continued to walk along to go and get something to eat.
* * *
Hawke14
"I never was mad at you. I just got really busy after the Triad game. With work, I mean." I said. "As a matter of fact..." I stammered. "What? What is it?" Rose asked. I started fidgeting. Lords,why was this so hard? "I uh..." I stammered. "Hawke!! Tell me!!" Rose said. "Ok!! Gimme a centon... We've been seeing each other for awhile now, and I think we should be exclusive to each other. I just wanted you to know that I've fallen in love with you." I awaited Rose's answer.
* * *
BSGRose
Rose stopped dead in her tracks when Hawke mentioned that he wanted them to be exclusive to each other and that he had fallen fallen in love with her. "Hawke," Rose says quietly, "your serious about us being exclusive to one another and about being in love with me." Hawke slowly nodded his head and still waited on an answer from Rose. Rose looked around a little to make sure that no one was close by to them. She didn't want a lot of people around for what she was about to tell Hawke.
"Hawke," Rose says as she pushes him up against the wall, "I have fallen in love with you also and I am not about to let any one else have you. So I guess you could say that I am staking my claim right here and now." Rose leaned closer to Hawke then and claimed his lips in a deep and passionate kiss.

Lusitan was watching some of the candidates for the pool tournament while they train their skils in the Rec room when he spotted some security personnel entering. They looked like they were searching for something. One of them got closer : " Hey..." " Hey...", answered back Lusitan, smiling. "So, still not wanting to be seen talking friendly to a pilot?" "That's not true, and you know it", said the officer, "but you also know that some of us take too long to forget. By the way, maybe some of them will take their revenge really soon." Lusitan's face turned worried, "What do you mean??" "The high command just released an order to capture an Ensign, and they authorised the use of Laser 'as a last resort only'. And you know some of us are specialists on last resort things, specialy with Gold squadron pilots." "Who is this Ensign?", asked Lusitan. "From what i heard, some crazy guy, named Eirikhr, that thinks he is son of a God.", answered the officer, with a grin, "you pilots always thought you're superior, but Gods?! Hahahaha". "C'mon, you know that it isn't...", Lusitan couldn't finish because the officer was already on his way out of the Rec Room. "Man, i just hope some of our guys find this ensign first, or things can realy get ugly again."

After telling the Black Squadron survey mission Warriors "Good job!" and "Get some rest," Lucian went back to bed for a little while. When he awoke a short time later, he did his morning exercise routine, thenn went by the Black Squadron Office. He reviewed the reports, the volunteer signup, and began working on the assignments.

"There's a lot more debris out there in the vicinity of the jump point than they encountered elsewhere in the system. Based on the models we've run so far, when we blast one of these pieces out of the way, we're going to be breaking it up into smaller chunks, but at the same time, we're going to have that many more pieces with which to deal. The model shows we're going to need more Vipers out there blazing away, but the more they blast, the more we'll need. I'm not sure what to recommend, Commander," said Major CureMode via the comm.
"Thank you, Major. Keep working on it," Sheba said as she did her calisthenics in her quarters. "I'll report to the bridge shortly. Sheba, out."

Captain Urdea had three Security Officers standing in front of him, rigidly at attention. From the look on his face, they could tell he was not happy.
"You were just joking? As much as you've been drilled on how improved relations with the Colonial Warriors are good for all of us, and you start 'joking' about 'accidentally' killing the missing Ensign?
"And you, talking about 'Hoping he was dead?' What kind of image does that give the Techs who heard you of our force? Not good, believe me.
"And Lieutenant Wheran, you don't know how close you are to being relieved of your command, and possibly even in the brig. I don't care how worried you are," you snivelling little chicken, he thought, "you do not start discharging your stunner into a space without know what's in there. Yes, those two should not have been hiding in there doing what they were doing, but that doesn't excuse your actions. If they'd been a few years younger, you'd have probably killed them both. Then, to tell their mother...
"All three of you shall apologize to the affected parties. Each of you will have your duty shift increased by 4 centars per shift for the next five cycles, which should give you plenty of time to reconsider your actions. If I hear of any more such events, you'll be spending every off-duty centar in the brig for the next secton. Now, rejoin the search for Ensign Eirikhr. Dismissed."
"Captain," said Wheran, "I don't think--"
"Lieutenant, you don't think is right. If you don't start, you'll have plenty of time to learn in the brig. I said, Dismissed! Lieutenant."
Wheran saluted, and exited, grumbling under his breath.

Major Lucian posted the order for Black Squadron.
Asteroid Clearing Mission:
Lt. Stadia, Mission and Wing Leader Ensign Phlander, Stadia's wing
Lt. BatGal, SIC Lt. RaycerX, BatGal's wing
Lt. Lusitan Lt. Nylah, Lusitan's wing
He looked over the list and jotted down the names for the backup crew, just in case.

Brie
The following Gold Squadron warriors are assigned to the asteroid clearing mission:
Major Brie, Gold Wing Leader Lt. Ben, Brie's wing
Captain Skyler, SIC Lt. Brik, Skyler's wing
Lt. SiressEden Lt. Boomerang, SiressEden's wing
A second, back-up flight will be posted in the near future.
Major Brie Gold Squadron

Charybdis
The mission assignments came through. Major Brie would be leading her wing. I recalled it had been a bit of time since Brie had gone out. In fact, the last time was the mission to the planet and the rescue of the Frodarians.
I thought that it might be the best thing for her to get back out there. This was one that was pretty dangerous and I knew that Brie was the one I wanted out there leading the mission.
She had selected some very experienced pilots and I was glad for that.
Mission orders were posted and all pilots were to begin to gather for mission briefing in one centar. Flight Officer Solan would conduct the briefing at that time...

Phlandor_Xixran
Sounding the tone on the Major's office door I was ushered in and greeted by the Major. "Greetings Ensign Phlandor, welcome to the Battlestar Callisto," extenting his right hand. Grasping his firmly, "Thank you sir it is good to be back in action." "Plese sit down, noo need for formality here," indicating the leather upolstered chair in front of his desk. I laid my duffl by the chair and sat placing my flight bag between my feet. "So I see by your profile that you have been a Warrior for quite awhile but this is your first as a Pilot and Officer," queried Maj Lucian. "Yes Sir, I was entered into the Academy at the age of seven as is tradition, and graduated at age 16 as a Corporal in the Military." "My first posting was the Bellerephon before she was destroyed," responding to his look. Shifting uneasily in the chair I continued, " I was at home on Scorpia on leave when the Cylons atacked and destroyed the 12 Colonies, at that point I had been promoted to Staff Sgt." "Very interesting, I see you are a highly skilled HTH instructor as well as an Expert Marksman," stated the Maj. as his eyebrows lifted. "Yes Sir that is why I was moved to the Ground Forces rather than to the Flight School at the Academy." "Well I am sure you are tired and want to get some rest," he again queried. "Yes Sir I am but I havent recieved my Billet yet from Lt. BatGal," siting straighter "I also see a posting for Asteroid Duty, is that me listed as Lt. Stadia's Wing?" "Yes it is and I am sorry for the misspell but I was tired when I wrote that up and well,"shrugging his shoulders " I am sure next time I will get it right, and isnt that how your name is pronounced?" "Yes it is how it is pronounced, and I look forward to putting my flying skills to the test and proving myself." "In Lt. BatGal's stead I shall assign you to the Bunk right under Lt. Stadia and to locker 045, stash your stuf and see Lt. Stadia, and good flying," standing and extending his hand I again take it. "Thank you Sir" I then salute and retrieve my bag and duffle and head from his office to the Barracks room to find Lt.Stadia

Lusitan
Lusitan looked at the order with a smile : "Hummm, Stadia and BatGal...with these two it's going to be fun. I think i better get them and the wings to meet me at the O'Club for a little < training >".

SiressEden
Siress Eden saw the assignment posted that she was to be part of the asteroid clearing mission. She sighed, as much with the excitement and anticipation of another mission as with nervousness since she knew this could be a dangerous mission. She saw that Major Brie was going on this mission. She smiled. It had been a long time since she had flown a mission with the Major. It would be nice to fly with her again, it would be like old times.
* * *
Cpt_Skyler
Skyler was waiting for Mara to finish her debriefing so he could see her. It seems like it had been yarheens since he had been able to see her. While he was waiting the intercom broke static and called a list of Warriors to report for a mission briefing. He had almost missed his name. He still wasn't used to the Captain added to the front of it. Taking one last glance at Mara seated in the debriefing room, he turned and went to report in with Major Brie to get his new assigment.

MaraJadeJedi
Mara sat in the debreifing room and kept seeing Skyler out in the cooridor. She wanted to go see him. To have him hold her again. She closed her eyes to the thought. With how much they were seperated so much lately she was starting to think someone didn't want them to get sealed. She loved Skyler more than she had ever loved anyone in her whole life. She missed him so much and to sit there - watching him outside the door - so close yet so far away broke her heart. Then she heard the intercom. They were announcing the next group to go out. Mara closed her eyes and silently prayed that his name wouldn't be mentioned. Then she heard it, "Captain Skyler...." She looked at him with great sadness in her eyes. She watched him walk away and it tore at her heart and such sadness gripped her. She prayed again this time for his safe and speedy return. She couldn't wait for the jump this time, so she could spend time with Skyler. She hoped sometime soon they could finally get sealed.

Holodoc2000
Holodoc had left MedLab for a few moments while Jarrynn & Najinn were out on a little walk so that he could stretch his legs some & start working on building up his strength again. Holodoc had gone by the briefing room where she knew that Anubis would go for the debriefing on the mission that he & several others had been on recently, but was unable to talk to him before the debriefing had started. Holodoc decided to try & catch up with Anubis a little later once the debriefing ended & headed back to MedLab.
Holodoc hadn't been back in MedLab all that long when Jarrynn & Najinn come back in from their walk. She could tell that Jarrynn was having some fun with Najinn & that the walk did Najinn some good in getting out of MedLab for a little while. It seemed that he was always there for one reason or another, but it was good that he was still alive & kicking & hadn't given up on life with all that happened to him on the last mission he went out on recently.
"I take it you two had fun on your little walk," Holodoc says. Both Jarrynn & Najinn smiled & Holodoc could tell that Jarrynn was blushing a little & had an idea what it was about, but didn't say anything. She could ask Jarrynn about it later when they had a chance to chat in private. "It was good to get out for awhile," Najinn says, "what would a guy have to do in order to get out for awhile longer? Say a little trip to the O'Club?" Both Jarrynn & Holodoc couldn't help but laugh some when Najinn asked about getting to go out on another outting & this time to the O'Club.
Once Jarrynn & Holodoc got their laughter under control, Holodoc spoke. "You wanting to go out on another little outting I see," Holodoc says, "that could be arranged on a couple of conditions. First, you are not to have anything of the Ambrosia. You are to stick to something along the line of Juice. We don't need you having a set back while you are still healing. The second condition is that the moment you feel as though you are getting weak you are to let either me or Jarrynn know & we will get you back here to MedLab so that you can get some rest. Yes, I did say let me or Jarrynn know & that is because I know that it will more than likely take the both of us to make sure you don't over do it any."
Holodoc let what she said sink in some with both Najinn & Jarrynn. "Najinn," Holodoc says, "do you agree to this conditions?"
* * *
Najinn
Najinn looked at Holodoc;
"Ok, you win, your rules."
Najinn was thinking what they can't see won't hurt them, he'd make sure he bought the first round!
Anyway, a chance to get out of med lab and back to what was normal life would do him good. Spending time with friends would be good. And after all he thought you never know who might bump into in the bar....

Lucian
In the hidden engine compartment, he waited silently, his hand poised on the bole at his belt, ready to surprise any unexpected visitors. He’d heard the comm reports of some goofy human ensign who’d probably done himself in permanently. Of course, if that was the case, they’d find the residue. Few weapons inside the Battlestar would completely destroy a body without attracting a lot of attention. As the centons turned to centars, his muscles started to ache, but he stayed still and silent. His people were used to hardship, so he endured.
Wait! What was that? His keen hearing picked it up from several compartments away. Someone was coming. His eyes flitted around the mostly dark compartment, which was lit only by the emergency lighting. He wondered if the searcher would spot his few sparse belongings tucked between the pipes, or if they would spot the modifications he’d made to the plumbing. He’d tapped into both the potable water and the sanitary systems some compartments away using parts he’d stolen from various locations. These extra pipes that appeared on none of the ship’s schematic diagrams allowed him to take care of bodily functions as well as maintaining some degree of cleanliness. While he wouldn’t have been all that concerned about it himself, he knew that the acrid smell in the compartment would only cover up so much body odor.
The searcher was now in the next compartment. It sounded like one, so a fall and a broken neck wouldn’t be all that hard to engineer. The manual wheel on the hatch started to spin, slowly at first, then with increased speed, without the required warning. When this unlucky person stepped through, he would do a quick twist and it would be over. Suddenly, in midturn, the wheel slowed dramatically, and moments later, a series of taps, in the proper sequence, could be heard. Moments later, one of his remaining henchmen from the Security Force arrived. With a silent sigh, he knew there would be no blood today.
Other than the two of them, no one else witnessed the meeting or saw anything out of the ordinary with the Security Officer’s actions.
* * *
Sheba had delayed the staff meeting by over a centar to allow the calculations to be modified and the search of the ship to be completed. No trace of Ensign Eirikhr, other than the possible lead at the trash chute, had been found. Disturbing thoughts passed through her mind….
Also disturbing were the results of the calculations. Due to the distances, gravity readings, et cetera, the Axcian system was over four sectons away instead of seven to ten cycles as had been expected. Sheba had orders passed along to all crewmembers to conserve everything. Hydroponics was increasing production to maximum, but this would be a drop in the bucket in comparison with what was needed.
Major Joey was presenting the results of the models based on the data collected by the survey team. She said, “The problem is that when an asteroid is blasted, many small parts are blown in many different directions, which further increases the number of projectiles in the area. The models show that we’re going to need a larger number of Vipers blasting asteroids than we’d originally thought just to keep up with all of the extra pieces after we start blasting them. This is rough, but the model shows that we should have at least two to three times as many Vipers leading the Callisto through the field as we’ve currently planned. Captain Buellah’s already activated a Silver Spar wing to help, but we recommend adding at least one wing from Black and one wing from Gold to be sure we have enough.”
“What is the schedule?” asked Major Lucian. “The survey mission team members who might volunteer would be ideal for this since they’ve had a great deal of experience dealing with these rocks, but they’ve barely had time to rest.”
“Launch is in about one centar, at 03:75, so they won’t have met minimum rest requirements,” said Sheba. “We have plenty of Warriors who can do this without them risking their lives again without taking proper precautions. Any of them who are up and well-rested can report to the bridge to help with scanning and relaying asteroid information to the Clearance Team members. They’re going to need all of the help they can get. Squadron Leaders, you have until 03:00 to get your second team assembled. You two,” she said indicating Brie and Lucian, “go and send your lists to Lieutenant Colonel Charybdis as soon as possible.”
* * *
Lucian got to the Black Squadron Office, looked over the squadron list, sorted through who had just gone to bed and who would still be reasonably fresh from their last sleep cycle, and started writing. The Major wanted to go on the mission so badly he could taste it, but he suspected that he would be of more use on the bridge coordinating with the Warriors who would be doing the real work. In the process, he moved his little counter up on the Squadron list, showing that he would be on the next available mission.
Black Saber Wing:
Lieutenant Randrius, Wing Leader Lieutenant Aliana
Lieutenant Merak, Wing SIC Lieutenant Zerrana
Lieutenant Wendy Lieutenant Nightscape

Brie
The following Gold Squadron warriors will report for the second flight of the asteroid clearing mission:
Captain Cain, flight leader Lt. Mossycat
Lt. Suntea SIC Lt. Astraea
Lt. Wackbag Lt. Vulpa
Also, until Captain Skyler, Captain Cain, Lt. SiressEden or myself return to the Callisto, Lt. Amy will be in charge of the remaining members of Gold Squadron.

Charybdis
I read the list that Brie had submitted, I could not believe my eyes, there it was, her name was on the list: Lt. Astraea.
I felt a tug at my heart. We had been close after she had come onboard the Callisto about 3 yahrens ago. Historian was her job in the Military, and I had always had a liking for Colonial history. Perhaps that's why we had become so close.
What the frack was Brie thinking? Unless there had been a computer error, everyone knew that Lt. Astraea had been lost on a mission in Cylon territory more than 2 yahrens ago.
Why would Brie put her on this list? It must be a mistake.
I immediately put a page in to Major Brie to see if she could clear this up as quickly as possible. Brie
Lt. Col. Charybdis contacted Major Brie, wondering what was going on. Brie was sure that it had to do with her leaving Amy in command while she was gone. She prepared what she was going to tell him.
"What were you thinking?" Charybdis asked.
Brie was getting tired of Charybdis doubting her every decision. "Sir," she said, "I know that she thinks that she messed up on the mission, but given another chance..."
"Brie," Charybdis said, a bit of sorrow in his voice, "did you read the assignments before you posted it?"
Looking at the list, Brie was for once silent. There it was in front of her, Astraea. She had been the first to sign up who wasn't an original member of Gold Squadron. She had been missing, and missed, for a long time. "I'm sorry," Brie said at last. "I don't know how that happened. It was supposed to be Lt. Tracy. Their files must have somehow gotten crossed in my computer. I'll get it checked right away."
* * *
Charybdis
Brie was sort of heartbroken for the mistake. She knew more than anyone else aboard what it felt like to have someone and then lose them. Her husband disappeared on a mission just as Astraea and no one ever knew what happened to them.
The thought of them just dying on some forsaken planet, lost and alone didn't help anything either.
"No, Brie, I'm sorry. I overreacted. I knew it was just a mistake. I guess it just took me by surprise, that's all," I told her. "It's funny how some feelings are just buried underneath everything else. We think they may be gone, but...they aren't."
"I know," Brie replied. "It doesn't get any easier. You just learn to live with it," she said, recalling her husband's disappearance, "but's it's always there somewhere in your mind." I realized how much Brie and I had in common.
Turner was my friend, too. Although Brie didn't know Astraea that well since I was the one who recruited her to the Colonial Military, she was in Gold squadron under my command and she disappeared near the end of my watch. I had OK'd her assignment on that last fateful mission. I hadn't let myself really forget it, nor forgive myself for it either. If it wasn't for me, she might not have disappeared and would possibly still be with the fleet. Sometimes I wonder if that's the reason why I decided to step down as Gold squadron leader after one term. Maybe on the bridge I could stay above it all and leave the decisions to others. Who knows? I sure don't. Everyone is needed that's for sure, whether they are on the bridge or in the cockpit of a viper.
I turned to Brie, "Well, the assignments are fine. You take care out there, you hear me? Clear us a path and get us out of here fast, alright?"
"Will do," she acknowledged. She smiled and turned to walk out. I always wondered when Warriors left on a mission, which ones I might never see again...funny thing, though, I never thought that about Brie. I always knew she would be coming back...
* * *
Brie
Although she knew that she needed to prepare herself and her squadron for the mission, Brie went to her computer. The error was really bothering her. She typed in "LtTracy" to see what would happen. She waited a micron, then it appeared on her screen. "LtAstraea." She tried the opposite, typing in "LtAstraea." Another micron, then "LtTracy." Brie was by no means an expert in computers and she had no idea what had happened. She would send word to have someone check all the files while she was gone. She would also make sure that she double checked everything from now on. She expected excellence from her squadron, and was upset that she hadn't showed it herself.
Astraea. Brie hadn't thought of her in so long. When she had disappeared it had hit too close to home. The death of a warrior was easier to take than leaving one behind, never to know their fate. A million different scenarios had crossed her mind. Somehow Charybdis had been able to move on, but Brie knew that she would never be able to. She would never again open herself up only to have her life shattered once more. She wondered if maybe that was why Charybdis was so protective of Amy.

After the pressures of the mission through the asteriod field, it felt great to loosen up with a good hot shower. I dried off and briefly paused, torn between getting into a clean uniform or civilian clothes. My presence on the bridge was voluntary, if I felt I could add anything that could help us reach the jump point, but I hardly thought they needed the advice of someone who mis-reads data. If I was really needed for duty, bridge or viper, they could contact me.
Brie was nowhere around. I had heard that she was going to lead the mission for Gold team. I wasn't thrilled with this since I knew what it was like, but Brie was the most accomplished pilot I had ever seen fly, and I knew she'd be the best one to lead. I felt a slight twinge of guilt for heading toward the O-club, but hades, off-duty was off-duty.
I walked in, and as expected it wasn't too busy. Not many were off-duty at the moment. I ordered myself a mug and sat down in a booth. I continued to roll over my mission mistakes in my mind, trying to sort out the things I had done wrong. Maybe I needed some sim time. The obstacle course had done wonders for me physically, but maybe I needed to sharpen up on the mental stuff.
I sat back and took a big drink of ambrosia.

JustinB
As he walked through the O'club door, he saw it was practically deserted. He was about to leave when he saw a fellow pilot downing an ambrosia.
He walked over and said to the Lieutenant,"May I sit and drink with you Ma'am." "Not at all Ensign, pull up a seat," said Lt Amy.
"Thanks, JustinB's the name, I'm relatlivley new,"he said. "Hi JustinB, I'm Amy, I got worried back there about your canopy, I'm glad you're ok."
"Ma'am, Let me buy you the next couple of rounds, to show you my thanks for making you worry about my well being. I know you would of been ultimatley responsible, as well as, Lt Anubis should I had got hurt or died out there," he said.
So after he bought the next round, he enjoyed Amy's company as they talked about the mission and getting to know each other. JustinB was happy to of made a new friend.
* * *
Brie
Although Brie had told Amy that she might meet her at the O-Club, it was obvious that she wasn't going to have time for that juice afterall. She went there anyway, she had a couple of things she needed to let Amy know. The O-Club wasn't crowded at all, and she saw Amy sitting at a table with someone from Black Squadron. As Brie approached them, he snapped to attention. "At ease, Ensign," Brie said. She held out her hand. "I don't think we've been formally introduced. I'm Brie." She purposely left off the 'Major,' it was a title that she still wasn't used to and there was no reason to throw rank around when someone was enjoying a little down time.
"I'm JustinB," he said as he shook Brie's hand.
Brie smiled. "I hear you performed admirably on the mission. I'm going out there later. Maybe you could give us some tips." Brie hoped that she hadn't embarrassed him. "If you'll excuse me for being rude, I have a couple of things that I need to let Amy know about." JustinB started to leave the table, but Brie stopped him. "That's not necessary, and it will only take a centon."
"What's up?" Amy asked.
"First off," Brie started, "I just wanted to let you know that while I'm gone someone will be fixing my fracking computer, so don't be surprised."
"Have you been having a problem with it?" Amy asked.
Brie sighed. "Some files somehow got crossed. Nothing that couldn't be taken care of, but I wish it had never happened. Second," she lowered her voice, "keep watching your back. I don't think the threat to you is over. No real reason, just intuition I guess, but be careful."
"Okay," Amy agreed.
Since Amy hadn't said anything about it Brie realized that Amy had yet to see the latest posted orders. "And finally, you're in charge of Gold Squadron until I get back." She said it quickly and waited for a reaction.
It took a micron to sink in. "Brie..." was all that Amy could say.
"We need all the experience we can get on this mission," Brie argued, "so until I'm back, or Cain, Skyler or SiressEden, you're in charge of the squadron members who are still on the Callisto. You already have some leadership experience, and you're about to get more."
"I blew it on the mission," Amy protested.
Brie disagreed "You misread some data. That could happen to anybody."
"I don't think this is a good idea," Amy said.
"The orders are posted, LIEUTENANT." Brie stood up. "I'd love to stay, but I can't." She turned towards JustinB. "It was nice to meet you." As Brie walked towards the door, she noticed Najin, Jarrynn and Holodoc in another part of the room. She wondered if Amy had noticed them as well.

I watched Brie walk away, still trying to digest all she had said. Acting Squadron leader, watch my back, computer trouble, got it. Silently I wished my friend good luck, for she'd need it on this mission. I ordered another ambrosia and took a good long drink from the mug.
"Sorry you had to hear some of that" I said to JustinB, thinking mostly of my mission mistakes that might not have been apparent to others on the flight.
"Didn't hear a thing" JustinB said with a smile, "only, shouldn't you stop drinking, being in charge of the squadron and all?"
"Nah" I replied. "It's a superficial title in this case. Nothings going to happen that's going to need the squadron, I'm pretty sure. We've shaken the Cylons for the time being. Nothing will happen that can't keep until Brie gets back. Acting-Major Amy. Sounds cool though."
* * *
Jarrynn
Jarrynn sat there with Najinn at the Oclub table. She was adament about only letting him drink non alcoholic drinks right now. She smiled as she looked into his eyes and at his smile as he as cracking jokes with her and Holodoc. Then Holodoc started to tease poor Najinn. "So tell us Lieutenant, why do you come to the med lab so much? Don't tell me you think one of the nurses is cute? Is it Doc?" "Nope" "Is it me?" she laughed. Najinn shook his head. "Hmm could it be Jarrynn?" Jarrynn's heart pounded as her pulse started to race. She muttered under her breath and didn't know it came out. "I could only wish." Najinn and Holodoc looked at her. Najinn leaned to her. "What did you say?" Jarrynn looked around hoping for a miracle. "I said she didn't need to push. Holodoc I meant. Najinn you don't have to answer it and I would prefer if you didn't answer it. It's not a fair question." Jarrynn looked at Holodoc with a look that said they would be talking later. But she smiled again at Najinn. Sometimes she wondered if he could hear the beating of her heart when they were close. Could he tell how she felt? Laughter from across the room caught their attention. Jarrynn looked over and saw Amy sitting there with one of the newer Ensigns. Jarrynn looked at Najinn, who recognized Amy's laughter. The look in his eyes broke Jarrynn's heart. She dreamed so many times that it was her that he looked at - the same way he was looking at Amy. Jarrynn just stared at Najinn's face and disappeared into her mind as Najinn and Holodoc sat there talking. She wondered what it would be like to be the one to welcome him back from a mission. To dance with him during a jump time while things were quiet. To stare at the passing stars in the observation lounge with. She wondered what it would be like to be held by him, let alone a kiss. She looked down then back at Amy. She knew that Amy held Najinn's heart, and Jarrynn never stood a chance. (oh Jarrynn you are in too deep, you got to be out of your mind, he would never see you the way you want him to. The sooner you learn this the better it will be for everyone involved. But he is here with you right now. What more do you want? Who am I kidding? He is here with me because he was injured. Had he been well he would be sitting with Amy not you.) A voice brought her back to the present and out of her thoughts. She looked at Holodoc and Najinn and realized they were staring at her. "Hey you ok?" Holodoc asked. "Yeah fine. Why?" "Because Holodoc's been the only one laughing at my jokes that's why. You look flushed Jarrynn are you ok?" Najinn asked. He placed a hand on hers. She looked at her hand like it was on fire and she felt her breath catching in her throat. She felt like her heart was going to bust from her chest. Jarrynn jumped up. Najinn just looked at her strangely. "Jarrynn?" "I need to go. I need to get some air. I ... uh... I just need to go. I have work I need to do. I got behind while I was gone on the mission. Sorry Najinn. If you need me Holodoc you can page me. I just need out of here." With that she left back to the medlab. While sitting at her desk trying to look thru the tear that clouded her eyes, a furry cat jumped on her papers. Scooping him up, Jarrynn held him close. "oh furrybdis, why is love so cruel?"
* * *
JustinB
"So Acting-Major Amy eh, guess I am buying the next round," JustinB said to Amy with a smile as he ordered 2 more ambrosias. He was was enjoying himself at this moment.
He still felt a bit embarrassed at snapping to attention to Major Brie and about her comments about his performance on the mission. 'Then again, she didn't bring up the cracked canopy,' he thought to himself. What did make JustinB curious though, was something Brie said. Something about Amy watching her back and a threat that wasn't over. He was going to ask her, but decided not too. That didn't mean that he wouldn't keep his ears open.
He knew that Squadron rivalry is common place among Battlestars, but that would stop him keeping an eye out for his new friend. In time he would ask her about it, but not now while having a few drinks.
During their talk and laughter, he saw a Med-Tech across the room dash out of the O'Club. After giving her a second glance as she left, JustinB turned to Amy and said "You know what, I looked death in the face and come out on top, but I could not imagine not being a pilot. You got a temporary promotion today I face my fears and grew stronger. I think we deserve another drink"

The next round came, and as I sat back while the table was cleared, I glanced over, catching sight of Jarrynn leaving the room. Just to the right of the door way, I saw Holodoc and...
Najinn. My heart stopped a full beat, and I looked away before he could catch my gaze. I reached for my mug, running a finger around the frosty glass.
JustinB must have sensed the change in my mood. "Anything wrong?" he asked, seeming unsure what to say or if he should even ask.
I looked up at him, snapped out of my thoughts by the sound of his voice. "Hmm? Oh, no. Nothing." I glanced briefly back at Najinn, then back to my drink. "The battles go on" I said crypticly, referring to a fight inside my heart that had nothing to do with Cylons. No matter what raged deep in my soul, it was good, very good to see Najinn up and around.
I changed the subject. "As acting Major Amy" I said with the voice of command, "I insist on buying the next round. And that's an order." With that, I took a huge slug of Ambrosia, sneaking another sideways peek toward Najinn.

Najinn
Najinn sat at the table in the O Club, his mood had changed. Jarrynn had rushed out of the bar as she saw him looking over at Amy.
He thought to himself, you absolute idiot, you should know better than that. Jarrynn is only reacting as she needs to you fool. He kicked himself.
"Doc, I think I just messed up big style."
"Najinn, it's ok, you can't help the way you feel and Jarrynn can't help the way she feels."
"I know you're right, but that's the last thing I want to do is hurt her."
"Sometimes, Lt, you can't choose who you hurt or how they react to you and this is one of those occasions."
Holodocs words rang true.
"Anyway, we had better get you back to medlab"
"Ok boss, just give me a moment."
Najinn got up from the table and walked over towards Amy.
Amy saw him get up and start walking over. Her thoughts started racing as she panicked. Oh Boy, she thought, what now.....
"Hi Amy, how ya doin?"
"I'm fine Najinn, I'm doing fine. In fact I am getting better by the jug full." Amy pointed to the mug full of Ambrosia.
"Good, they won't let me drink yet, but it is good to get and about. And...... and to see you. Amy, we need to talk. Whenever you feel your ready, please, we need to talk, I need to talk to you. I'm not pressuring or anything, if you need time you take it. I am not exactly going anywhere fast. But, I'm here for you and want to see.....Amy, I want to know..... Do you still love me.....?"
Holodoc came up behind Najinn,
"Come on, you need to be back in bed."
She took Najinn's arm and pulled him away towards the door.
"Ok, boss," he smiled at Holodoc, "Amy, come and find me in medlab, please."
Doc and Najinn walked off. Najinn was very down, but he was pleased to have got out of the meldab for a shortwhile, he was just upset at what had happened. But, as Holodoc said you are not always the master of events.

Between slugs of ambrosia and sneaking peeks over toward Najinn, I saw him get up and start over my way. My heart began to pound without warning. My lack of control over my reactions was alarming to me, so unexpected. I had put up walls around the whole problem, keeping everything separate. Yet with one step my way, I was melting like the ice in my mug.
Najinn reached my table. I couldn’t help but smile, as I heard his voice for the first time in a long, long while. "Hi Amy, how ya doin?"
"I'm fine Najin, I'm doing fine.” A small silence felt like eons as I wrestled with what else to say. “In fact I am getting better by the jug full." I pointed to the mug full of Ambrosia. Jeez what a dumb thing to say! I felt like an idiot, and smiled lamely to complete the picture.
It felt like the whole world froze up in that instant. No sound, nothing else existing but Najinn looking down at me, his expression a mixture of affection with a hint of pain. I had so much to tell him, but exactly what to say I didn’t even know. And how much did he know of what had happened since his ill-fated trip to Frodar Epsilon? Like my engagement to Charybdis, a promise made and broken in such a short time, and something that was still unresolved. But before I could find the breath to speak, Holodoc came up behind Najinn.
"Come on, you need to be back in bed." She took Najin's arm and pulled him away towards the door.
"Ok, boss," he smiled at Holodoc, "Amy, come and find me in medlab, please." He looked back at me for the longest time as he was being led away. I watched until he disappeared from view, then looked back down at my empty mug, wanting it to be full.
JustinB seemed to pick up on that. “Next round coming up” he said, rising to his feet. I smiled without much behind the effort. JustinB patted my shoulder as he moved off.
‘Visit me in medlab’ Najinn had said. That seemed like the last place I’d want to go. I’d seen Jarrynn and how she had left the O-club. It didn’t take a genius to see that all of this was related. I could see that not much had changed. I had joined the obstacle course and training program, had worked out, led a mission, and it all had made me feel somewhat better, but in the end it was all the same. Everywhere I looked, people were in pain, myself included.

Holodoc was worried about Jarrynn since she had run out of the O'Club the way she had only moments ago. Holodoc & Najinn finished their drinks & got up from the table they were sitting at & headed on back to MedLab. They took it slow some so as not to rush it to much since Najinn was still healing. Once they got back to MedLab, Holodoc helped Najinn on back over to his bed & left him alone there to change back into what he needed to wear while there in MedLab so that he could rest.
Holodoc walked over to where Jarrynn was sitting to check up on her. "Jarrynn," Holodoc says, "are you alright? I hope that the outting we had to the O'Club didn't upset you any." Jarrynn looks up at Holodoc & says, "I will be fine. I just wish that things could be different on for me & someone, but it looks as though all that will be between me & this person right now if friendship." What upset you so much earlier?, Holodoc asks. "Seeing Amy in the O'Club," Jarrynn begins, "and seeing how Najinn looked her way. That is what upset me & why I left the way I did." Holodoc hugged Jarrynn in hopes of being able to comfort her some & says, "I wish I knew what to tell you Jarrynn. The only thing I can come up with at the moment is that maybe you should try to move on with your life & hopefully then the pain wouldn't hurt you any longer. Who knows maybe your Mr Right is just around the corner." Jarrynn smiles a little. "Easier said then done. This is Najinn we are talking about! I don't know maybe you are right. But I just wish he would give me a chance," Jarrynn replies. "I'm sure that in time he will come to his senses," Holodoc says, "besides if he doesn't we can always prank him." The mentioning of doing a prank got Jarrynn to giggling & smiling some & Holodoc couldn't help but join in on the giggling. Once they were able to get their giggles under control, Jarryn says, "there is a message for you over on your desk. I noticed it earlier when I got back here to MedLab." "Thanks," Holodoc says, "I will see what it is about." Ok, replies Jarrynn.
Holodoc got up & went over to her desk where she could read the message that was waiting on her. She notices that it is from Rose & begins reading the note that had been left for her. As Holodoc read the note over a couple more time, she got even more concerned about things. "Jarrynn," Holodoc says looking from from the note, "I am heading back out for a little while. I need to take care of something right quick." Jarrynn looks up & says, "no problem. I can handle things until you get back."
Holodoc heads out of MedLab & up to the bridge. She just hoped that she was in time to make sure nothing bad happened to anyone else on the Callisto. Everyone had already been through alot as it was already & added problems was not needed at the present time.
Once she reached the bridge, Holodoc spoke with Lt Colonel Charybdis momentairly letting him know that she needed to speak with Commander Sheba for a few moments. After checking to make sure it was alright for her to go into the Commanders office, Lt Colonel Charybdis told Holodoc that she could go in & asked that she not stay to long. I will do my best Lt Colonel, replies Holodoc.
"Commander," Holodoc says, "I hate to interrupt you while you are working, but this is of some importance." "It is alright Lt Holodoc, please continue," replies Cmdr Sheba. "Commander," Holodoc begins again, "when I got back to MedLab after going out for awhile with Najinn so that he could stretch his legs some & see something other than the walls in MedLab I found a note waiting for me. In the note this person mentions that that one morning they over heard a couple of the Security Officers talking about how they had a certain recent addition to their department eating out of their hands & that he was wanting Major Brie killed. I am not sure how much of this is true since I haven't been able to talk to the person that left me the note yet or to anyone else about this yet. I thought I should come to you first to see what if anything I should do." Holodoc waited for Cmdr Sheba's response.

JustinB
After returning from getting the next round of ambrosia, JustinB could see in Amy's eyes the "The battles that go on" she referred to earlier. Obviously she felt or had felt for the warrior she had spoke to. Sensing her hurt he tried to tell a joke to lighten her mood. He got no reaction, she just stared into her full mug of ambrosia.
"Amy," He said,"I don't know what you are feeling at this moment. I can tell its got to do with your heart and a battle it is fighting." She looked up at him and thought to herself 'He doesn't know the half of it.'He continued,"If I may say this, If you cannot confide in anyone of your friends, as a new one I am always available for you to chat to."
With that comment, "Thanks," Amy said but to change the subject she asked, "So tell me about yourself JustinB. Where are you from, your family?" With a deep breath he answered, "Not much too my life I'm afraid. I'm from Caprica and my parents died due to the cylon attack. I've been a loner most of my life, even though I was taken in by a nice couple not long after my father died. Until I joined the Colonial Service, I was a loner. I love being a pilot and I enjoy the challenge,"
JustinB finished his ambrosia and stood up, turned to Amy and asked, "You up for another round?" "Sure am," was the reply.

Members of all strike wings entered and sat down in the large briefing room. This time, Commander Sheba was present as well as all Senior Officers including Dr. Curemode, Flight Officer Solan, Major Joey and myself.
Commander Sheba spoke when the room quieted down. "I know I don't have to tell you how important this mission is. It seems they are all equally important and equally life-threatening. This time, nowever, we don't face the Cylons, but asteroids. Everyone knows how dangerous that is. OUr first recon mission gave us the exact coordinates to the jumpoint and did an outstanding job, but that's only the beginning. The hard part is now coming. I'll turn things over to Flight Officer Solan for the rest of the briefing. Take care out there and come back in one piece." Sheba finished with that good word.
Solan approached the front of the room and pushed a button on the console. A map lit up on the wall. "Our goal is to clear a path through the orbiting asteroid field to allow the Callisto to slip through to the jump point which is accessible in the correct direction toward the Axcian system only by travelling through the field. It is in our best interest to do so with little or no damage to the vipers and the Callisto." He said matter of factly.
"Major Brie will be in command of all strike wings and will lead Gold squadron through first. Black and Silver Spar squadrons will operate in flight pattern Delta to the left and right of Gold. The path we clear should be big enough to let the Callisto slip through."
After the main information was passed along, the announcement was made and confirmed. All pilots to launch bay.
The senior officers returned to the bridge to begin the monitoring process.
Flight Specialist Geenie donned her helm and punched the comm unit button. "Launch bays ready and clear. Transferring system control. Launch when ready!"

Brie
Major Brie sat in her viper, awaiting the order to launch. Although most Colonial Warriors hated launching, it still gave Brie the same chill down her spine that she had received the first time she had launched as a cadet. She pushed out of her mind all thoughts of Astraea, Amy, the missing Eirikhr. This would be a mission unlike any other. With Cylons you knew what you were getting, not so with asteroids. If they ran into problems Gold Squadron would become a very young squadron indeed. Brie knew that she had picked well. Between the two Gold flights there were so many yarhens of experience! Her wingman for the mission was Lt. Ben. Ben was young but experienced enough to lead a flight if need be. He chance would come.
Although Brie was in command of the overall operation she knew that the flight leaders were people she could count on. The only one that she was unsure of was Captain Jorlan. The man hated Brie, even more so since she had been promoted. She didn't blame him for this. She had more or less come to peace with having killed the guard, but Jorlan blamed her. Brie decided to keep track of where he was during the mission, as if watching for asteroids and debris wasn't enough. She knew that Skyler would be doing the same, Jorlan hated him as well.
Breathing in deep and relaxing, Brie heard the words that she knew so well. "Launch bays ready and clear. Transferring system control. Launch when ready!"

Lucian
They were ready. Twelve brave Warriors were ready to battle the odds, to take on the universe, and whatever it had to throw at them. Lucian thought about his odd acquaintance, Ensign Eirikhr, who had claimed that someone or something was out there. Lucian had never really had a chance to get to know him well before he disappeared, but he hoped that Eirikhr was wrong. Sure, he was right in a way. There was always something out there, but often, it was the depths of one’s own mind working against oneself. The expanse of space, relatively unchanging, could lead to one’s mind drifting, daydreaming, and ultimately, if one was not extremely careful, death.
He’d already been to the mission briefing, and he’d talked to the team members as they made their way to Beta Bay. Now, they were about to climb into their Vipers to do their duty, and he was angry that he could not be there to lead them. Due to all of the activities over the last couple of cycles, he’d not been able to see Nurse Jarrynn to have his eyes checked, so he wasn’t about to endanger any of his fellow squadron members with his presence on the mission; however, he was determined to be on standby in case any of them got in trouble. He’d go after them, eye trouble or no eye trouble. He saw a slightly nervous-looking Lieutenant Stadia checking over her Viper in preparation to depart, so he approached and said, “Relax, Lieutenant. Your teams are depending on you, and if you are calm and appear to have confidence, they’ll have confidence in you, too. You’ll do fine.”
“I’m fine, Major. They’re ready, and we’ll get the job done,” she replied.
“I know you will, Stadia. Just be careful, and bring all them home safely,” he said. “That includes you, Lieutenant. Ensign Phlandor will stick right with you. His training looks very thorough, having gone through the complete school-through-Academy training program rather than the much more abbreviated training that many of our Warriors have taken.”
They spoke for a couple more centons, and after he’d taken a quick look at the canopy reinforcement that had been added to each of the Vipers, Lucian moved over to speak with Lieutenant Randrius. Randrius said his Wing was ready, so after a couple of centons of discussion, Lucian approached Lieutenant BatGal’s Viper. She was doing some stretching exercises when saw him coming her way, so she said, “MAJOR! What a surprise seeing you here, Sir!”
Lucian laughed as always when BatGal was gently ribbing him. “Bat, are you set? And how the blazes do you do that? I couldn’t stretch like that when I was a young daggit, let along now.”
It was her turn to laugh as she straightened, looking refreshed and relaxed. “I’ve gone through everything with RaycerX, Lusitan, and Nylah, and we’re all in good shape. I let Stadia know a few centons ago, just before you spoke with her.”
“Spying on me, eh?”
“Not at all, Sir. Just doing my duty to know where my Commanding Officer is at all times so I can be of assistance when needed, Sir,” she said with a grin.
“Thanks, Lieutenant. Keep up the good work, and come back safely,” he said, smiling. “By the way, have you met Ensign Phlandor? He was trying to find you yesterday after he was transferred from the Training Academy to the Squadron.”
Since she had not, Lucian motioned and said, “Let’s go meet him. He’s flying as Lieutenant Stadia’s wing.”

…“Thanks, Lieutenant. Keep up the good work, and come back safely,” Lucian said, smiling. “By the way, have you met Ensign Phlandor? He was trying to find you yesterday after he was transferred from the Training Academy to the Squadron.”
Since BatGal had not, Lucian motioned and said, “Let’s go meet him. He’s flying as Lieutenant Stadia’s wing.”
BatGal lifted her handheld from the bay auxiliary unit and placed it in her holster. She missed the old days when she flew missions as the Major’s wing…thoughts of the crash-course days of Black Ice Wing ‘Boot Camp’, with the then-Lieutenant Lucian (as well as Lt. Resonat!) as drill sergeant -- alongside her beloved Kris, Randrius, Wendy, Anubis and Lusitan, floated through her mind --- and she couldn’t help but smile.
Major Lucian was an excellent leader, but most of all, an amazing friend. They had been through a lot together, but for some strange reason, the past yahren had become a big blur to her.
She and the Major headed towards Ens. Phlandor’s viper.

AS I am climbing into my Viper I notice Maj. Lucian approaching me from the left of my fighter with a woman in tow. As she turned her face towards me I realise that it is Lt. BatGal and I jumped down at the technicians appal.
"Ens. Phlandor," called the Maj. "I would like you to meet Lt BatGal." I came to attention and saulted her, " Maam, I am honoured to meet you and sorry I missed being able to report in before the mission" She just smiled at me and stated, "well Ens. we arent overly formal here," saluting and then extending her hand. I took it and felt the raw power that comes form a well trained warrior. "It is a pleasure to make your aquintance and to see you fly," stated Lt. BatGal
"I look forward to flying in formation with you as well Lt." at that moment the call to enplane and ready ourselves came over the comm. "I hope to get to talk with you more after our mission Maam." "As I hope to talk with you more in depth, and take care of Lt. Sadia's wing ok," she said as she winked. "I shall,"
I re climbed the ladder and slid into the cockpit of my Viper. I took my Helmet from the ready position and placed it onto my head and switched on its systems. Hatch closes and the tech slaps the viewport and gives thumbs up. Over my helmet mics "Launch Bays ready and clear. Transferring system control. Launch when ready"

In an observation lounge that has been all but forgotten an aging technition walks in. It's his off duty time and he just wants peace. The door remains open which lets in thr only light. He sets an old worn and dusty caze on a table and opens it. His wrinkled and weathered face brightens in a smile as fond memories of days long past, of a place now destroyed by a mechanical menace, flood past. He pulls out the contents which squeak and groan, and makes certain that the reeds are properly moistened. He had done this in Ambrosia, as his ancestors had before him. He places the alien-looking instrument under his arm and places one long tube to his lips while holding onto another. Three more extend over his shoulder and all are connected to a central bag. He takes a deep breath and begins filling the bag as it squeaks and groans in protest. Soon his fingers start moving as a song passed down from his ancestors emerges from the frightening instrument. It is a song dedicated to his homeland passed down from a beginning lost in time and space. It is also dedicated to the warriors who protect the human race and currently the Callisto; his home. As the last notes goan into oblivion, he gives a racking, shuddering sigh, and takes a moment to recover from the thrall of the music. Finally, after several moments he raises the canter to his lips and begins playing again this time a song to scare away death. The spell of this song weaves itself around and through the player, and he is lost again caught up in the moment the here and now. The short supplies forgotten, the discomforts and cramped spacing is not even a memory. All is this song, this moment. The warriors out there, facing death straight in the eye and laughing like a mad fiend tempting fate time and time again risking their lives so that the civillians and everyone still on board the Callisto will live to see another day. All too soon the song fades but the spell is strong in it's passing. The tech places the bagpipes on the nearest surface and raises his hand in salute to the launching vipers.

I headed to the locker room to change. I got in a clean work out outfit I had in there. I needed to clean my uniform. I heard Kellyn come in and smiled at her. "Hey what a ride!" we laughed. "Yeah I am glad it is over. I am just glad we didn't suffer worse than we did." I said. "I am just glad to be home." she said with a sigh as she laid back on one of the benches. "So am I." ::Thump!:: a towel hit my head! Kellyn was laughing! "I bet you are!" Taking the towel from my head. "And what is that supposed to mean?" "I saw you stay behind to talk to the Lieutenant Resonat! Then you came into the debreifing room late and in giggles. HHMMMMMM" I just blushed and smiled. "Yeah you caught me! So?" "So!?! Kris you gotta be joking! Here you were writing a note to him before we left and then we get back and he meets you in the landing bay? And all you can say is so? Don't make me come over there to hurt you!" I laughed. "No No don't do that Kellyn!" I teased at her. "Seriously, I can't get over the feeling as I see him waiting for me. I hope he knows how much that makes me feel so special, like he wants me. Sometimes I feel like this is all just a dream."

Kellyn
"You are so lucky Kris.I would love to have someone in the landing bay waiting for me to return from a mission."Kellyn told Kris.
"Well maybe if you would do a little more socializing you would.There must be someone on this ship who interests you."Kris said.
"Enough about me.So,any plans for the rest of the cycle?"Kellyn asked with a smile.

"Well I was planning on getting some sleep first. Then I was going to go find Nat and tell him how lucky I am to have him. Then I was thinking of going to the Oclub for a drink. You wanna come? I am sure we can scope out the guys there for ya unless there is one that you have eyes for?" I tried to pry it from Kellyn. "Nope no one in particular. Why? You thinking on setting me up aren't you?" she asked as she squinted her eyes at me in suspicion. "Me? Set you up? Never!" I tried to act innocent but she wasn't buying it. The truth was, as we sat there I was running a list of names of guys that I knew were single. She just pointed at me and squinted her eyes again. She wanted to say something but it was like she gave up on it. I busted up laughing. She glared at me "AHHA! So you WERE thinking of setting me up weren't you! That laugh gave you away!" I shrugged and kept laughing. Kellyn just shook her head at me. "Just what am I supposed to do with you Kris?" "There's not much you can do with me. I am just me! And hey ya luv me anyways!" She made a face as if she was thinking on it and so I threw her towel back at her. Kellyn laughed. "Yeah sometimes! So you heading to the barracks?" Since she was in Gold, she stayed in a different part of the ship. "Yeah. Gonna curl up to my favorite four legged pillow warmer and sleep for a few centars. So you up to the OClub later Kellyn?" I waited to see what her answer would be.

Brie
After all vipers had launched, Brie spoke into the intercom. "Just a reminder, there will be NO idle chit chat allowed. We all need our concentration. I'm appointing Lt. Stadia as second-in-command for the overall mission. Flight leaders are in charge of their group. Don't fire head-on because of the debris problem. Adjust your firing range as necessary. Major Brie out."
Brie had expected things to be bad, but she still hadn't been prepared for what she saw. The asteroids were orbiting the star Pauvwell. The gravitational pull of the star was strong and the asteroids had to be hit in the right spot or else the debris would automatically fill in any hole. They needed to take into account the orbiting patterns of the asteroids and make a hole that would be there when it was time for the Callisto to pass through. Brie let up on the navi-hilt on her viper for a micron, she could feel the star pulling her as well. Too much power and she'd hit something, too little and she'd end up orbiting Pauvwell herself.
Lining herself up from underneath one of the medium sized asteroids, Brie fired. She had to pull away quickly to avoid being hit by the debris. Lt. Ben, her wingman, was right there, trying to blast some of the pieces that were smaller and spreading. It seemed they had found a possible strategy, with Brie destroying the asteroids and Ben cleaning up the bigger pieces. She considered suggesting that to the others, but decided not to. Each group needed to find how they would best work together.
It was going to be a long time before landing on the Callisto again.

Pushing the launch button on my control stick I feel the pressure cram me into the acceleration couch. ""Just a reminder, there will be no idle chit chat allowed. We all need our concentration. Adjust your firing range as necessary. Major Brie out.""
"Rodger that Leader this is Black 45, adjusting as needed," I replied. Seeing a large one rolling in on a cross vector I started raking it from bottom to top. I blew into two and then four and then smaller. Lt. Stadia coming in from over me and taking out smaller ones as I raked the larger chunks in rapid fire. "Good shooting Ens.," commented Lt. Stadia, "whered you learn that?"
"I am an fuly rated expert marksman, escept for large shipboard weapons systems," I replied trying not to sound like a cocky young pilot fresh out of flightschool. " I said not idle chit chat folks" came from Maj. Brie "And yes very good shooting Ens."
"Ok Ens hows about we do this routine you take one and I shoot debris and the I target the next and you take it's debris?" "Sounds good to me, good idea to leapfrog it Maam!" she pulled ahead of me and we started the run on the roids from our vector. And weaving so as to not colide with some of the debris chunks.

Lucian
The voices of the Warriors blasting asteroids were being piped into the Beta Bay launch ready room where Major Lucian had gathered five other Black Squadron Warriors, just in case they were needed. He’d studied the models and seen that the amount of asteroid debris would eventually get ahead of the Warriors trying to clear it out of the way. All six Warriors were ready to sprint to their Vipers at a moment’s notice.
“Frack! We can’t get it all! There are just too many of these darn things, and when you blast'em, you just end up with more!” complained a Black Squadron Warrior at the same time that a Gold Squadron Warrior was saying almost the same thing on the other channel. Several of the Vipers had already taken hits, but fortunately, none had been seriously damaged so far.
Lucian’s knuckles were almost white from gripping the back of the chair. Hearing more complaints and more calls of minor impacts, his concern kept increasing, so he paged all available Black Squadron Warriors who were on duty. “Black Squadron Warriors: Please report to Beta Bay immediately. Major Lucian.”
He shook his head in a moment of distraction as he noticed another of the now near ubiquitous flyers announcing the upcoming pool tournament.

At the same time, Major Brie blasted another asteroid. As she did so, she noticed that another asteroid that was nearly on top of the first changed course slightly when it was hit by the blast.

Major Brie blasted another asteroid. As she did so, she noticed that another asteroid that was nearly on top of the first changed course slightly when it was hit by the blast. That seemed...strange. It hadn't reacted the way that the other asteroids had, and it remained in one piece. Brie puzzled this for a micron, then noticed something on her scanner.
She hadn't spent much time thinking about Black Squadron. She knew that they were a capable group and that Lt. Stadia was doing a fine job. She didn't feel the same way about Captain Jorlan. Personal feelings aside, she didn't think that he had been flying a viper long enough to have command of a Silver Spar Squadron mission. She had been keeping a close eye on him. She noticed on her scanner two large asteroids moving near where Jorlan was headed. One was behind the other, chances were at the angle he was at his scanner wasn't picking them both up. If he destroyed the first one, he would be flying right into the second. "Captain Jorlan, pull up," Brie insisted. "Then fire from above."
"Major Brie," Jorlan said, disgusted, "if you would like to talk to me switch to one of the private chan..."
"Pull up now, Captain, that's an order!" Brie nearly screamed into the comm. The man was so infuriating maybe she SHOULD let him get killed by an asteroid. Jorlan paused a micron, then pulled his viper above the asteroid. From his new angle he was able to clearly see the second asteroid. Whether or not he was grateful Brie didn't know, Jorlan didn't say a word. She didn't give it another thought. Her mind was once again on that other asteroid, the one that had remained in one piece.

Stadia
Makes mental note to talk to the ensign about the dangers of Eager Beaver Syndrome. In an ever brief moment she turns back to her mission.
" Ensign this isnt working. The debris is to thick. Pull back and assume flight pattern Delta. Listen up Black Squadron, we are going to have to approach this a little differently.
Listen up squad. This is what I want us to do. Lt. BatGal I want you to pull up on my right flank and Lt. Lusitan I want you to pull up on my left flank and I want the others to pull up forming a v. Ensign Phlandor I want you bringing up the rear.
I will take out the big stuff and each of you will be responsible for making the debris smaller.
Major Brie, did you hear what I have planned?"
What seemed an enternity passed before Major Brie's voice came across the comm channel.
"Sounds like an interesting approach. Are you Sure it will work?"
"Major Brie, it has to. It seems the most logical way to prevent the vipers from taking major damage."
"Ok we will give it a try. But at the first sign of trouble I want your squad to pull out."
"Yes Major." Stadia shifts in her viper seat. The weight of her responsibility weighing heavy on her shoulders.
"Ok everyone listen up. Assume your positions." Looked at her scanner watching the ships move into position. She eyed Ensign Phlandor to make sure he assumed position in the rear.
Pushes the stick forward guiding her viper into the asteroid belt. She takes deliberate aim at the big chunks. She feels the firing button, hesitating for a moment. Gaining resolve she pushes down on the button sending laser bolts into the asteroid.
She slowly worked her way thru trusting her partners to do their jobs.

Capt_Skyler
Capt. Skyler and Ensign Brik had taken up a duel position, with their vipers facing out, each one covering the others back. Fighting with the thrusters to keep ahead of the gravity well of the planet, and dodge debis at the same time proved a dificult task, but not impossible. To the casual veiwer, they appeared to be held in the same spot, swinging on a axis of some kind. Thrusting ahead a little here, drifting back some there, avoiding some of the bigger chunks of rock. Turbo laser fire streaked from their guns tearing the asteroids to bits, but were the bits small enough. A few peices got through, but caused very little damamge. These birds will be needing a paint job when they get back, thats for sure. Glancing at his H.U.D.S. Skyler noticed Black Squadrons new tactic. If it worked, maybe Gold Squadron would reform and try it.

Lt. Stadia continues hitting the asteroids at an angle trying to clear out as many as she can. She veers her viper to the right as the gravity well of the planet jostles her about. “Frack!” she hollers as she feels the impact of a small asteroid on her viper. She does a quick damage assessment. Good, she thinks, no vital systems damage.
Stadia watched as Lts. BatGal and Nylah vaporized the asteroids that had but a moment ago sailed by her. She turns back to her mission. She pushes the stick forward forcing her viper to move forward. She moves her viper right and left trying to get the big ones and not take any damage.
Stadia reaches over and flips her communication channel to open.
“Listen up. It seems to be working. If we continue to hit them with enough laser fire, we can either destroy them or send them off in another direction. Keep up the good work.”
Stadia flips her communications channel to close
Watched in her scanner as her wing continued blasting the asteroids. She winces as Lt. Raycer’s viper takes a hit from a good-sized asteroid.
“Damage report, Lt. Raycer.”
“No critical areas hit. Life support functioning.” Stadia feels a collective sigh come from all.
Stadia could hear the exhaustion in Nylah’s voice “Ensign Phlander, I want you to move up and replace Lt Nylah. Just blast the asteroids. Nothing fancy. Lt Nylah assume Ensigns Phlander’s position.”
Stadia watches in the scanners as the ships changed positions.. She was growing confident in her skills.
Stadia looks out her window to notice that the asteroids are starting thin out. She rolls her ship trying to get the last few remaining asteroids.
Pulls her vipers out into open space and rolls it back so she can see the path in which they came. She looks and sees her wing finishing off the last remaining asteroids. She smiles as she looks down the path they have created.
"This is Lt. Stadia to Callisto."
"Callito here."
"We have broken thru the asteroid belt. We have cleared a path. Need to know if its wide enougth for the Callisto to get thru.

Hawke14
I returned the deep passionate kiss from Rose. "You and I are going to have GREAT fun tonight! But we better get going. With our luck the commander will be coming by and we get busted again." Rose grinned at me. "Yea, I guess so." We walked and got some dinner. We made small talk. Rose filled me in about her mission. We finished dinner. "What do you want to do now?" I asked.

BSGRose
Rose smiled mischievously as she thought about what she wanted to do now with Hawke. "What?," Hawke asks when he see's the look on Rose's face. Rose giggles some and says, "oh just thinking about what I really want to do with you now. Come on with me." Rose stands & pulls Hawke up out of his chair and pulls on out of the mess hall where they had been eating. "Rose!," Hawke says, "would you please tell me what you have in mind for us." She couldn't help but giggle and smile at Hawke. "Oh I am just trying to figure out where we could go to be alone for awhile without any kind of interruptions," Rose says. You got any idea's, Rose asks.

Hawke14
"How about the commander's ready room?" I asked with a straight face. "Hawke!!! I don't think so...What if we get caught?" Rose replied mischeviously. I just shrugged. "What about Holodoc's?" I asked.
* * *
BSGRose
Rose thought the idea of going to Holodoc's quarters was a good idea and smiled even more as she looked over at Hawke. "Come handsome," Rose says, "we're headed to Holodoc's quarters." Rose pulled Hawke along with her as they headed towards Holodoc's quarters. It didn't take them long to get there and once they reached Holodoc's quarters, Rose accessed the door control and the door opens and Rose and Hawke go inside.
Rose smiled mischievously as she turned towards Hawke. "What?," Hawke asks. Rose giggled a little as she walked towards Hawke. "You know what I am in the mood for right now," Rose says as she wraps her arms around Hawke's neck & kisses him.

Charybdis
The Callisto O-Club servitors kept refilling mug after mug of ambrosia for the small table where two Lieutenants were sitting talking. They had been there now for the better part of a centar. At one point, Lt. OSH, the head Callisto barkeep, had noticed that Lt. Amy and Ensign JustinB had now ordered their 7th mug of ambrosia!!!
Not only that, but he thought he had overheard when Major Brie came in to talk with Lt. Amy, that she had given acting command of Gold Squadron to her. Once that order had been given, OSH had been around long enough to know that the young Lieutenant was at that moment BACK on active duty and drinks were off limits. He should have known better than to serve them, but with his back turned at times, some of the servitors kept serving them their drinks.
Now he had to do something about it because his hide could be in major trouble if the bridge found out that he had served an active duty officer. He went to the comm unit and contacted the bridge. Major Joey came on the line, "Yes, what is it Lt. OSH?"
"Major, I thought I would let you know that Lt. Amy is here in the O-Club and she has just ordered her 7th mug of ambrosia. I think someone ought to do something."
Major Joey immediately caught the implication. Lt. Amy had been placed on temporary command of Gold Squadron, she could be in some SERIOUS trouble for drinking on duty. "I'll see to it, Lt. Thanks for the heads up" was all that Major Joey said. She took a look over at Charybdis who was also on the bridge but who had not overheard Lt. OSH's report. 'Uh-oh' Joey thought. 'Charybdis better not find out about this.' She immediately requested to leave the bridge and took off for the O-Club. She needed to stop Lt. Amy and fast...

"I think this might be the last round for me" I said as JustinB brought another set of drinks. I got a sudden image of myself being called to the bridge or somewhere, with me trying to walk straight while the floor tilted at crazy angles. It would be consistant with my knack for getting into trouble, but it was a scene I'd best avoid. Acting-Major-ly drunk would not look good on my record.
JustinB sat back down, waiting for whatever topic I might start on. Najinn's appearance opened some wounds, but I'd already bared my soul to Brie and didn't want to do that again. I talked about the past instead.
"I guess I'm luckier than most" I said. "I still have my parents, though they are with the fleet right now, where ever that is. I wonder what they are thinking about, not knowing where I am either."
"Thinking of you, I'd imagine" JustinB said. "Hoping and praying for your safe return."
"Yeah" I said with a little smile, an image of my parents at work in the fields popping into my head. "They both live on the main Agro ship. I was born there, a couple of yahrens after the colonies were destroyed."
"Quite a leap from farmer to pilot" JustinB pointed out.
"Yeah" I said again. "That's kind of what they said too. They weren't exactly thrilled with the idea. But I never knew what the colonies were like, and felt pretty strong about paying the Cylons back for that." Hearing stories about a certain warrior named Najinn surely had something to do with my decision, but I decided not to bring that part up.
I played some with the mug of Ambrosia, making lines in the frosty outsides of the glass. That image of me staggering around suddenly had me really concerned. I hoped all was going well with the asteriod clearing mission.

I looked up to see Major Joey enter the O-club, do a quick scan, and head my way. Looks like my intuition was right. I'd be needed after all.
Major Joey walked up to the table I shared with JustinB. She nodded toward the ensign, then squared on me. "I need to see you" she said with a forced smile but a serious tone. She added "Now" when I didn't rise right away.
"Bye JustinB" I said as I got to my feet. Okay, the floor is pretty steady, that's a good sign. "Gaa-" was all I could add as Major Joey unexpectedly pulled me by the arm toward the door. I trailed after her as she tugged me out into the corridor.
"Are you crazy" she said, glaring at me. I was still testing the stability of the floor beneath my feet and didn't not answer right away. Joey caught me unaware as she pushed me up against the wall and held me there. "Are you even functional?" she barked, nose to nose with me.
"Y-yeah" I stammered. "I am functional. What's the deal, Major?"
"The 'deal' as you put it, is drinking on duty. So I ask again: are you CRAZY?"
I thought a moment, then answered before she could shake me again. I felt fairly okay, but shaking me wasn't a good idea. "I'm off-duty" I half-stated, half-asked.
"Not from the moment Major Brie put you in charge of Gold squadron. Don't you know the regs?" More glaring and staring at me. I squirmed a little.
"I guess not, Major sir" I replied. I really wasn't up on these particular ones. I'd never encountered this situation before. I guess I'd found trouble once again.
"Can you walk?"
"Yeah yeah" I replied. "I didn't have that many." I looked up at Joey's angry expression, and added "Major" just to add a little respect for what it was worth.
Joey released her grip on me. I went back to testing my footing. "You are needed on the bridge, Major Amy" she announced, stepping away from me, expecting me to fall down or something. I worked hard at not doing just that. Joey just continued to stare at me. "Do you need directions?" she asked finally.
Okay, she wants me to walk. Can do. I left the security of the wall and did my best straight line down the corridor. Joey fell into step behind me, and there we went, a little two person parade toward the bridge.

Charybdis
Right before Lt. Amy and Major Joey arrived at the door that opened onto the bridge, Joey tapped on Amy's shoulder from behind. Amy turned and stopped.
"Lt. Amy, are you sure you are up to this? I don't think you would want Lt. Colonel Charybdis or Cmdr. Sheba to find you in whatever condition you are in."
Amy nodded briefly. She had handled the walk to the bridge just fine. "Yes, Major. I'm fine, really." She said as she turned around. She was a tiny bit late on hitting the access button and when she took a step forward, she bumped into the door! 'Just great' she thought to herself as Major Joey saw the whole thing and winced.
I noticed as the door slid open and in came Lt. Amy followed by Maj. Joey. I had wondered where Amy had been ever since she got back from her mission. She had done a fantastic job, with the minor exception of misreading some data, but that can happen to anyone. I hadn't spoken to her in quite some time.
As our eyes met, I got the distinct impression that she turned them away on purpose to not let me see her eyes. I wondered what was up with her?
She moved over to a comm unit and monitor on the far side of the bridge and sat down in one of the chairs.
Whatever it was that was on her mind, it would have to wait. Things were too busy and we didn't have time right now to get into anything personal.
It seemed that was the story of my life...always waiting for something. Always trying to make something happen, but it never did. I guess that was my lot in life.

JustinB
With Lt Amy heading to the bridge, Ensign JustinB decided it was time to leave the O'Club. He was not one for drinking alone. He stood up and made his way to the door. He decided it was time to head back to the Black Squadron barracks and get a few centars worth of sleep.
As he made his way to along the corridoor, his thoughts drifted to his parents. He hoped they were proud of him. He arrived at the barracks and headed to his locker. He pulled out a picture of his parents, then placed it back. He changed into his sleeping attire and jumped got into his bunk. Within Centons he was fast asleep.

I walked onto the bridge, taking a quick glance around before heading to the scanner section. I spotted Charybdis on the far side, and I glanced away before we locked on each other. My eyes felt pretty dried out. I only hoped they weren't looking as burnt out as they felt.
Major Joey stood behind me, still probably expecting me to topple over. I disappointed her by making it successfully to the scanner station, taking a seat at an empty console. I reached for a headset, and in moments was connected to the nerve center of the Callisto.
The volume was up a little to loud, so I adjusted it as I began to sift through the data. Here was a great irony: the chief mishandler of data, monitoring crucial incoming information! Dumb thing was, I could now easily see the differences that I had missed while out there in my viper. I mentally kicked myself once again for being such a genius.
I tried to concentrate, but the hum and chatter had me zoning really fast. I'd much rather be in Brie's quarters, settling in for a good slumber. Mmmmm, that stiff cot would be mighty comfortable right about now. With a couple of blankets...
Woh! I shook my head to snap myself out of it. I had nearly dozed. I rubbed my eyes, really feeling the need to move around for a few moments. Man, it was warm in here! A bit of cold water on my face would do wonders.
I spoke into the headset. "Core systems, take over system X427 for a micron." I got the affirmative after a few moments, then I sat back, removed the headset, and smoothed back my hair with a sigh. I looked from side to side, really wanting to be someplace else. Hey, I was squadron leader, wasn't I? Okay, lets do some leading.
I caught the attention of a passing ensign. He'd do fine. "Ensign" I snapped in as good a command tone as I could come up with. "Take over this station until I relieve you."
"Yes M'am" he replied without hesitation. Wow, this command stuff is great! I slipped out of the seat, looking back toward Major Joey. She was otherwise engaged, so I took the good fortune while it was there and scooted off the bridge. Just a micron with some cold water and I'd be good as new.
* * *
Brie
In her intercomm Major Brie overheard a message back on the Callisto. A mandatory meeting had been called for every person onboard. "Was that today?" Brie thought to herself.
* * *
Major Lucian entered the mess hall. That was where the mandatory "staff meeting" would be held. He checked things over. Supplies were short, so the food wasn't as fancy as desired and the portions were small. There would be no ambrosia, no one needed that with the asteroid clearing mission going on. It would be possible to take a break, relax, live, but just for a few centons. Then things would have to return to normal.
Everything seemed to be ready. Lucian made his report to Lt. col. Charybdis. This would be a "staff meeting" to remember.
* * *
Charybdis
It was a heck of a time to be doing this right in the middle of a mission, but I keyed the comm unit and made the announcement:
"All personnel non-essential to the current mission to report to the mess hall at once. Squadron leaders MUST be present."
I looked over at where Amy had been sitting at her monitor on the far side of the bridge. She had left a couple of centons ago and had not returned, so I hoped she had gotten the message and headed off to the mess hall with the others.
This was going to be interesting...
* * *
Amy81
I in the middle of burying my face in a sink of cold water when the announcement came over the com system. Mess hall? What was that about? Being a squad leader, acting or otherwise, I figured that maybe I'd better go. I thought back to what Major Joey had said in the corridor outside the O-club: 'Don't you know the regs?' Again I wasn't too clear on them. Either way, I'd probably get in trouble again. I dried my face and decided to head for the mess hall. As I walked along I smoothed back my hair and tried to make myself as presentable as I could.
* * *
Charybdis
All was dark and quiet in the mess hall. Not a noise was being made. The lights were out. It was as if there was a void inside the room.
Some muffled speaking could be heard outside the door when the unmistakable sound of the door sliding open filled the silent room.
Lt. Amy stepped inside along with another crewmember. "What's up with this?" she said noticing that the lights were out. "Is there supposed to be a meeting or not?"
At that very moment, the lights flickered on and a raucous chorus filled the air with all sorts of people yelling:
"Happy Novayahren, Amy!!!!!!!"
All who could get away from their duties and were present shouted and threw confetti in the air as the surprise party for Lt. Amy got underway.
The look on Amy's face was priceless. I was glad to be there to see it, if only for a quick centon.
I stepped up to her and repeated the message that all were yelling, "Happy Novayahren, Amy. I hope that this next yahren is truly happy for you." I kissed her gently...
* * *
Brie
Brie realized that the nova-yarhen party for Amy was underway. She wanted to do something for her good friend, but it was kind of hard in the middle of an asteroid field. She went on the intercomm once again. "This is Major Brie. The next asteroid that you fire at, I want you to dedicate it to Lt. Amy for her nova-yarhen. Major Brie out."
* * *
Amy81
Lt. Amy held onto Charybdis, looking deep into his eyes. What a surprise! I aught to kick his a$$ for shocking the felgercarb out of me, thought Amy. Oh hades, why not surprise him back...
Amy suddenly headbutted Charybdis without warning. While he was momentarily stunned, Amy grabbed him by the arm and twisted it, flipping him up and over her, landing him on his back. While the birds tweeted around his head, she knelt down and gently planted a kiss on his lips.
"Thanks" she whispered, "for shocking a yahren off my life!" She winked at him. "But that was a nice thing to go through just for me. So really, thanks!" She patted him lightly on the cheek.
She stood up and turned to the party goers. "Who else do I thank for this?" she asked innocently. Everyone took a collective step backward.
