Back on the Callisto, both Artus and Persephone hopped out of their vipers. Handing her helmet to her usual hangar attendant that maintained her ship most times, "Thanks Belenus", she said, as he took the helmet from her.
"Good to see you back onboard, Lieutenant", he replied, while nodding. She smiled, and turned to make her way over to the ascension lift, where Artus waited.
"You've come a long way since the first day I met you as a cadet", Artus said with a wink at her.
Approaching him, she grinned, "I guess I have..."
"You're a good pilot, Pers, really, I mean it".
They stepped onto the lift to be transported to the upper level. They stood facing each other, studying the look in one another's eyes. "You really think so, huh?", she finally inquired. Artus moved closer to her, "Yeah, I do. Now what about that drink we never got to have down on the base..."
She lifted her chin higher to look him straight in the eye. "We never did find their O.C, did we?"
"I'd say we were momentarily distracted .....by other things...", Artus replied smoothly as he put his hands on her hips, and slowly pulled her closer to him.
"We shouldn't stay too long in the O.C. though...we should get some rest before that klaxon sounds off. We've got a lot ahead of us, give or take a few hundred thousand cylons...", she reminded him.
Artus gazed at her revealing a hint of worry in his eyes. She wondered what he was thinking of at that micron. She felt a pang go though her gut, a sense of fear herself, of returning to the colonies to go up against the Cylon tyranny. This time is was her that would be going into combat with her fellow warriors. And now that her feelings were growing for Artus, she worried too, of what may happen out there.
The sound of the lift hummed as they rode up to beta level. She found herself barely an inch away from his lips. However, all he did was stare into her eyes, as she rested her hands upon his arms.
The lift stopped and their mesmerizing little game was broken. "After you..", Artus waved his hand for her to step off first. She raised an eyebrow, then split into a grin once more at him.
Walking now down the corridors, the sound of their boots bounced off the walls. Artus couldn't help it, he had to ask.
"So...have you and ah-....." Persephone looked up at him, waiting for him to say Trident or Titan. He eyed her back and continued, "....Triton broken up now?" She glanced sideways back at him, amazed he actually called him by his proper name this time, and wasn't trying to make joke out of it.
"Yes, we have." She sighed heavily, "It's been a long time coming really..."
"I won't say I'm sorry to hear it. I mean, c'mon the guy is...."
"What?..... He's what?", she held his eye contact.
"He'sssss...."Artus twisted his bottom lip up to one side, and his eyes squinted with dislike for Triton, only too obviously. "He's just not the one for you, Pers".
She stopped. "Really?"
"Yeah...what I mean is, you need a real man." She tried to stifle her sudden urge to laugh. Recomposing herself quickly, before any of it could escape from her, she put her hands on her hips, but then remembering how Artus gave hades to Captain Logan on the shuttle early this morning in the bay, when she did this in front of him, Persephone decided to fold her arms instead.
Artus slightly licked his lower lip to cover his mouth from revealing an aroused smile at how her figure was even more defined when she put her hands on her hips. He briefly glanced down at the floor, but his mouth dropped when he looked up back at her to discover she had folded her arms now.
"So...you were saying? You think I need a real man"?
He cocked his head in his usual way, and stepped in closer to her, "Yes you do", he said in a low tone of voice.
"Well, when you find one, let me know, and I'll come and check him out..." Artus' eyes twinkled with amusement.
"Why don't I save you the trouble of that, and inform you that I think I've found one for you right now, lieutnenant....", Artus purred.
Persephone pressed her lips together tightly or she would have burst out laughing. Clearing her throat, she finally managed to speak.
"Well, .....show him in then?"
He knew she was immensely enjoying teasing him, as they held straight faces.
"So what about that drink? she smiled at him sweetly.
"You still drinking Piscean Twilight Slings, Pers?
"It's been a while since I last had one. You remembered my drink? "
"I remember everything...more than you know".
"Well...we'll see about that.", she added playfully.

As she watched the scene play out before her, the only thing Logan could think was that she had to give Nero credit. She had seen more physically dominant men cower in the face of a dressing down like the one Brik was administering. While Nero's brow was raised and he was obviously taken aback, she didn't see any panic or undue concern in his features.
Someone with that much control could be a fine Warrior. If he put his ego and prejudices aside.
Brik turned his back to Nero in an act of obvious and complete dismissal. "Logan, may I have a word at your convenience?"
Drawing herself up and biting back the smile that was teasing her lips, she nodded, straight-faced, her anger at Nero diminishing as she ushered Brik down the corridor and back towards the lift, not sparing a glance over her shoulder at Nero.
"Indeed you may, Captain. But it will have to be while we're walking. I'm heading to Gold barracks." She hadn't forgotten that Plwel owed her a drink and she couldn't think of a better time for one than right now, before all Hades broke loose. Again.

"Indeed you may, Captain. But it will have to be while we're walking. I'm heading to Gold barracks."
"Not a problem, we all have much to do." The two old friends walked in silence for a few steps, neither of them slowing their pace. When Brik felt that Nero was out of earshot he spoke.
"Logan, there's nothing serious, I just wanted us to get away from that smelly daggit." The last two words were almost a growl.
He thought briefly, made a decision, reached out a hand to Logan's arm and stopped her while making sure that no one was around. Given the sobering events about to take place, he vaguely assumed most people to be resting or reflecting, alone or with loved ones.
"You and I live in a similar way for similar reasons, I think. As such, it has happened rarely that we've spoken in THAT way." Brik assumed that logan had surely noticed the sweat on his brow and was no doubt amused at his unusual discomfort at speaking to her. He hoped that he wounldn't hear about this later but, knowing her, he most likely would. But it would be worth it.
She crossed her arms and looked up at him with amused interest, indicating that he should continue.
He took a deep breath. "Well . . . we're used to risking our lives and it's a part of the job, so in that way this mission is no different. But it IS different because we may succeed and that may change our relationship, maybe even remove it altogether."
He could feel his eyes begin to water.
"I guess. What I mean is." He sighed. Then he spoke very slowly (mostly to make sure that he got it right the first time and would not need to repeat himself). He also looked at his hands, of which he seemed unsure of what to do. "You and Skyler are my closest family, as well as the warriors in this fleet and sometimes you have to actually tell people what you feel. You're like the sister that I never had and I love you dearly. Please say something."
He looked relieved to have finished and mildly surprised to be unhurt, as he wiped more sweat from his forehead.

They wandered into the Officer's Club, there was the usual atmosphere of chatter between off duty warriors, the clinking of mugs at the bar and at tables, some warriors having a friendly game of triktrak or pyramid, and the cosy lighting made for an inviting social time to relax and forget the wear and tear of a colonial viper pilot's life. Artus lead Persephone to an available table in a corner.
"Have a seat, and I'll get us some drinks", he gestured for her to sit, winking at her once more.
She took in a deep breathe, and eased into her chair, it was soft and comfortable, compared to a viper cockpit, which when she thought about it, made sense to not make a viper's seat too comfortable, or there would too many pilots dozing off in the middle of routine patrols. Now, deep space probes might call for a more softer seat, as in-flight sleep periods were necessary for pilots to take, or they would not be able to stand up to such long and tedious explorations of deep space. She began to realize she had been rambling in her mind's thoughts, probably from fatigue setting in, when the sudden appearance of a tall glass with the familiar soft pastel hues of the cocktail liqueurs of Blue Narang with the customary swirl of lime citrus of a "Piscean Twilight Sling" was put down in front of her by Artus, who then placed his own drink down on their table.
She blinked to refresh herself a little as she looked up at Artus settling into his own chair across from her at the small table, leaning his elbows upon the surface of the table and wrapping his hand around his drink, he gazed at her, smiling.
"Thanks for the drink", she said.
"You're welcome", Artus replied, then quickly glanced around the club room, it had been some time since he was on the outside of a grid cell, and able to enjoy being like any other warrior, free to go anywhere on the Callisto.
Taking a sip of her drink, she savoured the flavours that made it her favourite. Artus drank thirstily. She watched him, as he had almost finished it within a few microns. She cleared her throat after swallowing a mouthful of her own beverage. "So....is it true what they say? You have two yahrens missing from your memory?"
Artus looked her straight in the face, staying silent for but only a short while, as he glanced down at the table, shifting his feet under his chair, she heard the soles of his boots rub upon the floor's carpet to cross his legs at his ankles behind him. Persephone lowered her head searching for his eyes to meet hers again. Slowly he raised his head up, arms still leaning on the table. "It's true."
Suddenly Artus was short of something to say...she was astounded. But he watched for what would she would say next. "You don't remember anything of what happened to you?"
"Not a thing...only sometimes, there are things that just pop into my head, and I don't know what they mean...but other than that..it's a hole in my head. Somedays it feels like it's big enough to swing a dead daggit around in there". She looked deep in his eyes, and saw a man who carried a tormenting burden inside of him. A haunted look reflected in the blue of his eyes. She wondered what had really happened to him.
Artus suddenly found a depth of solace in the way Persephone looked at him in that moment. He felt her warmth stretching out to him, something that he had not experienced from many of the women he'd been with in the past. She was different in every way. He drank the last mouthful of his ale, and leaned over the table closer to her. "You know, I've been cooped up for too long in prison and I could really do with some ...ahh...exercise...", the flirtations took over the intense moment that by habit he felt the need to divert from. Persephone's mouth curled up in a grin, while she held his gaze.
"Well..the Rejuvenation Centre is just down the hall...maybe a game of Compartment Bulyulks, or Billards, or ...maybe Triad...hmmm, no, you'd have to go to the Rising Star to do that one...and we don't have the time right now, y'know, well with thwarting the ploy of the Cylon Empire and saving our twelve colonies and all on our hands any time now...so.....", she rattled on but Artus cut into her words.
Artus reached for her hands, "No...I wasn't talking about anything in the rejuvenation centre or on a triad court...or even running a marathon around the Callisto...", Artus leaned over, ever closer to her.
Her mouth gaped slightly. She looked around the room slightly nervous. "Y know, many sectars ago, I would have told you to go get marooned on a planet somewhere, and slapped you for saying something like that to me, like I almost did this morning in the bay for planting that kiss on me without warning, but....."
A big grin spread over Artus' face, as he leaned back and put up both of his hands in the air as if mocking defense. "But, now you just wish you could get marooned with me on some planet of our own, just the two of us, right?", he teased.
"Let me give you some advice, Lieutenant....", she spoke softly, and surprised at how seductive her voice had sounded, leaning over closer to him, as he leaned in toward her as well. "I strongly suggest that it might be in your best interest to go easy on re-entery on any new heavenly body, you never know what the atmosphere might be like...it could be a hazard for you health...".
"Oh I've never entered any uncharted celestial body that wasn't accommodating a friendly atmosphere...I find it's exciting to discover new territory....and very good for my health...with plenty of exercise....".
"Well, when you pull into orbit of any new celestial body, don't put too much pressure on your joy stick. You wouldn't want to put your Auxillary systems into overdrive and burn out. A pilot always wants a safe landing before the ground comes up and hits you....".
Artus looked at her turning on the charm even more. "Are we still talking about planets or something else, Pers?", he smouldered at her with a brazen smile, all knowing where he was trying to lead this conversation to. She broke out into laughter, "I have absolutely no fracking idea!"
Artus laughed with her. "C'mon, I want to take you somewhere."
"Where?"
He stood up and grabbed his jacket from the back of his chair, and held out his hand to her. "Just come with me....". "Ahhh...Artus, we really should be getting some rest before we are called out on duty..." she barely had time to grab her own jacket before he pulled her away form their corner table.
Artus put a finger up to his lips and hushed her words, as he held her hand leading her out of the Officer's Club. "For once, be quiet and just trust me, Persephone".
She blinked rapidly at him, "Did you just tell me to..."
"Yeah, I did, now shut that pretty little mouth of yours and follow me".

Winding down a corridor that only lead to storage chambers at a remote part of the Callisto, Artus came to a stop in front of a door with a sign that read "Thermal Blanket and Bedding Storage Chamber 6".
"What are we doing here, Artus?", Persephone looked at him with a questioning face. He rummaged around in a pocket of his jacket and pulled out a small electronic lock depressor. "Here, hold this", he said as he shoved his jacket into her hands, he then inserted the device into the slot, and the door opened. She watched him as he did this, wandering if he also couldn't hot wire a hover mobile...probably, she surmised, what couldn't Artus pull out of his bag of tricks?
"Welcome to my little secret place...", he said with that glint in his eye, then took her by the hand again to lead her through the door. Once inside, the door slid shut behind them.
"So this is where you wanted to bring me? You need new bed linen?", she asked, as she looked around at the stored thermal blankets and spare mattresses for bunks in squadron barracks. Artus began to pull out a couple of mattresses and place them on the spacious floor area of the chamber and then spread one of the silvery thermal blankets and a few pillows upon them . "No, I volunteer to test these whenever I can. I give an official report of how well the mattresses hold up to .....", he bantered.
"Wait. Stop right there. Did you think I would...", she interjected. But he only dimmed the room light and walked over to her after taking both their jackets out her hands that she was holding, and throwing them on a box nearby.
He ran his hands down over her arms, over the sleeves of her tunic, and gave her the deepest and most meaningful look. Persephone seemed to loose all control in his close proximity, her heart was now racing. She felt his body come closer until she could feel the warmth of him merge into her. Artus felt his own heart racing, drawing her in like a magnet, he lowered his head, their eyes closed as they met in the middle with a kiss even sweeter than those that preluded this one and could melt a Base Star down into liquid form. They knelt slowly down together on the bedding Artus had prepared. Soft and sensual touches of their lips upon each other's gradually turned into a more intense and deeper kind. Artus lifted a hand to stroke her hair, feeling the silkiness her tresses . Persephone found herself running her fingers through his tousled hair, it felt like honey in her hands.
It seemed like thousands of light yahrens passed while they kissed. Stopping, they said nothing but gazed into each other's eyes for microns. Finally, Artus spoke with a gentle yet intoxicated tone in his voice. "Stay with me, Pers...here. Don't worry, no one will disturb us. Just stay with me, I need you, I've always needed you, wanted you...", his eyes seemed to hypnotize Persephone.
She whispered back hardly able to catch her breathe, and held Artus tight to her, her arms around his neck, she answered him, her lips close to his ear. "I don't want to leave...I need you too, I want you too, don't let go of me..."
He wrapped her in his arms tighter than any woman he had ever held. "Pers...I'll never let you go...never...". Though he hadn't spoken it, and she didn't know how, but at that moment she knew he was in love with her, and she couldn't make real sense of where all her own feelings had come from either, but she also knew, she loved him too. They kissed deeply again, their hands caressed one another's body while they discovered each other. Artus found himself mesmerized by her beauty, she caught him saying, "By all that's holy..." under his breathe, as he admired her from head to toe. Falling onto the silvery blankets, Persephone's hair cascaded over the pillows, as Artus lowered himself above her, and kissed her neck, slowly and tenderly, then passionately. She felt herself being transported to a cloud somewhere. She held him so close, she could hear his heart racing too as she stroked him with gentle caresses. They made love, until they fell asleep in each other's arms, exhausted and happy. Artus and Persephone never let go of one another for centares. They had found a heaven they didn't want to come down from. But eventually they would have to return to their lives outside of this little secret chamber of theirs....

"You're like the sister that I never had and I love you dearly. Please say something."
He looked relieved to have finished and mildly surprised to be unhurt, as he wiped more sweat from his forehead.
Logan was amused when he started and had a passing impulse to let him sweat it out, but she was so touched by his words, she just couldn't do it. Besides, once this is all over, he'll hear about it.
She reached out and laid her hand on his shoulder, which even given her height was a stretch as he was such a big man. "Brik."
He looked up from his perusal of the deck and seemed braced for her to make light of what he had said.
"Brik, my friend. My brother. You're right. We haven't had to verbalize these things because because some things you just know. And we are cut from the same cloth...we are similar for similar reasons."
She paused to see relief on his face which made it easier for her to continue. Like him, she had sweat pop out on her brow too, unused to being this open. But she'd made a conscious decision to go for broke with Plwel and she felt her loyalty to her friend deserved no less than her complete honesty, especially since she saw how hard it was for him to come to a similar conclusion when it came to opening up in this way.
"We share a Warrior's heart." She saw his eyes open wide at this and he nodded in understanding and thanks. "And whatever happens, I have a feeling our most valued relationships will survive. How could they not?" Her confidence and hope mingled in her eyes and he smiled in agreement.
Taking his arm, she turned to the lift. "Now, Captain, come with me. There's someone I want you to meet."

He quickly wiped the moisture from his face with his free sleeve, just like a little boy would. He didn't notice but she did and, perhaps, smiled a bit in her secret heart.

Logan was still smiling to herself when she and Brik exited the lift and started towards Gold barracks. I wonder how much it would cost me to get a tech to let me access surveillance from the corridor. SHe was thinking of Brik's overt sleeve-wiping and just how endearing the action was. And how much she could use it against him later.
She didn't realize she had actually giggled, something she normally didn't do at all, until he looked at her and said, "What?"
She couldn't meet his eyes, but shrugged it off. "Nothing. Here we are."
The barracks weren't crowded. She assumed most of the Warriors were seeing to their ships or their stomachs, or grabbing what personal time they could en route to their destinies. A few bunks were occupied, including Plwel's. He was stretched out with his arms under his head, shirtless, but still wearing his uniform trousers and boots. She pursed her lips and watched him for a micron, until Brik made a questioning grunt beside her and she came back to herself.
"Lt. Plwel, may I speak to you for a micron?"
Before the sentence was done, Plwel's head had shot up and made contact with the bunk over his head.

Upon Landing, Ensign Edan had taken care of what he had to, and when instructed to make sure Green Squadron settled in, He escorted Ensign Guinevere to the female billets. He made sure she found a bunk and settled in, then returned to the Male Bunks for Gold Squadron. He's still barely had time to settle his gear when he had first arrived. IT was still on his bunk in his bags. Witht he exception of items he had to unpack to get to his mission gear. He put things away quickly, and then changed into workout gear. a pair of soft shoes, shorts, and a tank top. His arms looked even bigger in the shirt. And there were 2 inked marks on his arms. A Raptor from Picon and the spirit of Death. He'd had an old gemenese man on the Freighter Delphi do the artwork, with needles and inks. An old artform, from early in colonial history. not many did it, and those that did these days, had the images lasered on. Few did it the old way of needle injections.
After 30 centons, Edan was now hot, sweaty, and a bit tired from a workout. Hed worked out some of the fustrations he felt from the base mission. Captain Nero was definately on his mind. But so was Guinevere. The blond warrior always seemed to be creeking into his thoughts. Up till now, he'd almost convinced himself that it was because they were working together, and he wasn't sure if she had been a loyal wingman to Nero, meaning involved with everything t6hat had happened. But now, thre was no denying it. As he showered, he laughed at himself. "Seems Plwel isn't the only one who had something other then the coming battle on his mind.
A quick change into a duty uniform, and Edan began strapping his laser on. A Warrior from black Squadron came over. "You're Edan right? The newest Gold Warrior? I'm Lt Javier. Black Squadron. I hear you're pretty good with a Laser. A Blackshirt they say."
Now this is what he had originally expected. Warriors giving him a hard time due to his past as a Security officer in the fleet. "Yeah, I worked Security. And I Qualified with a Laser 8 times a Yahren. I've never had a problem using one."
"Yeah, well, a couple of us Blask Squadron guys have a bet going. Odds are now that Blackshirts couldn't hit the broad side of the Gemini Frieghter, even if a Warrior pointed them in the right direction. Care to lay out some Cubits and prove us wrong?"
"Tell you what, You and me, multiple targets, timed course. in 10 Centons."
"Excellent! And bring all you're cubits, it's gonna cost you, going up against the Callisto's Finest here!"
"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know Gold Squadron Warriors were involved. But I'll take the bet anyway." Edan didn't know how many of the Gold Warriors would have backed him up, but he did fall nicely into the Squadron.
The walk to the Firing range didnt' take long, but it seemed that word had spread. Off duty bridge crew, fight teams, and even bay crew who were not on duty seemed to be trying to cram into the live fire range. 3 Warriors had to be posted outside the range to keep people back. a simple camera set up was put intot he range that covered everything and people then began crowding monitors.
"I'll give Black Squadron the honor of going first. Set the mark."
There were going to be 25 targets presented to each shooter. The rangfe computer would vary the location and time the targets were exposed. Time would begin whent he first target appeared and not stop till all 25 targets were hit. No matter how long that was. Javier walked to the starting point, a smirk on his face and whent he target appeared, he bagan blasting away. All lasers on the range were set for stun, and "kills" were recorded electronically. Since there was no difference shooting a stun blast and a kill blast, this was just liek firing the laser for real.
Finally the buzzer sounded. "2.2 Centons. Not too bad. Not my best run, but still better then average. You're turn Blackshirt."Javier had made a show of holstering his laser, twirling it around a bit before slaming it home into the holster.
"Impressive, looks like you've really practiced with that thing." Edan was still talking when the first target appeared followed closely by 3 more. The settings had changed allowing for the targets to appear in larger groups at the same time. It appeared the contest was going to be fixed.
Fixed if Edan had been your normal Ensign just out of training. But Edan was a Ensign with 15 yahrens experience carrying a laser.
He drew his weapon and before he even seemed to have it in a firing position had fired off 3 blasts. all three found their targets, moving his eyes around the target area quickly, Edan spotted the targets just as they started to appear. Adn since wherever his eyes were looking, the laser was pointing, he was able to take faster shots. Not really aimed, but more directed. instictual shooting. And it was paying off. before anyone knew it, the buzzer went off indicating 25 Targets were hit.
"Oh my, I do believe I that timer reades 2 centons flat. Even witht he increased difficulty setting, I seem to have beat you." Edan moved over to the range terminal and brought up a few other scores. "I also seem to have a better shot to hit ratio, fewer shots, more hits. And my first shot was significantly faster then you. Seems I drew my laser faster then you did."
Cubits were being exchanged in the crowd, and outside. but Javier didn't seem satisfied. "one more, double or nothing, if you can cover the bet. One target each. I'll show you how fast I can draw."
"Lt Javier, Sir. You're talking alot of Cubits. Why don't we just settle up now and call it even. After all, we're now in the same uniform. and I'd like to get some rest and food before the launch orders come in."
"This ain't over blackshirt. We will settle this again." Javier basically threw the bag of cubits at Edan, but Edan didn't care. He was smiling as he poured them into his hand. Edan may never be the best Viper pilot in the Colonial service. He was a little better then average, but that wasn't going to get him any real recognition. But with a laser in his hand, he'd bet he was one of the best in the fleet. It's what he staked his life on for 15 yahrens. And what he practiced every chance he got. In fact, he still carried the same laser he was issued his first day on the job. The grip was worn, and it definately was in need of a reconditioning to the finish, but it was his.
Nexst thing on the agenda, food. And the officer's club was calling.

"Lt. Plwel, may I speak to you for a micron?"
Before the sentence was done, Plwel's head had shot up and made contact with the bunk over his head."OWWW!!!!!!! What the Frack is going on? " Plwel said grabbing his head as he hit it upon the bunk above his..."Is the klaxon going off...are we being attacked by Cylons?" Barely awake, Bouri fell out of his bunk down onto the floor face first..."What in the name of....." Plwel started to say when he stopped as he lifted his head and saw a pair of warrior boots right in front of his face. He followed the form up until it led to the face of his beloved Capt. Logan. "Hello Captain" Plwel said as he was picking himself off the ground. He brought himself to attention. Seeing the Capt Logan had someone with her, he immediately put his "game face" on and responded.."You wanted to speak with me ma'am?" Just then, he realized he wasn't wearing his tunic.....Plwel suddenly felt very vulnerable in front of his superior officer and secret love......
