Well, another yahren has come and gone except that this one is a little bit more special since it ends in a multiple of 5. This was BSG's 45th anniversary!
Still can't believe that it has now been that long since I sat in front of the tv in the living room that night on September 17th, 1978 and watched what was to become my all-time favorite entertainment property. The excitement of this year has caused me to pop in the DVD set and begin watching the series all over again. I am still amazed that I get goosebumps and get a bit teary eyed when watching some of the episodes! The characters are as great as ever and that music...never gets old!
I also decided to get some new BSG swag this year. I realized that I had a ton of Star Wars shirts, etc. but only two BSG shirts in my closet: the 1998 anniversary con shirt and our beloved Battlestar Callisto Gold Squadron shirt. I checked out the NBC store and they have a nice selection of original series shirts and designs. I picked out two and they are arriving in the mail today! Can't wait to get home!
I am also trying to look out for small cons or events where I can possibly dress up in my Colonial Warrior gear but the search goes on!
Anyway, just wanted to update for all who are still around and who still believe...

Update on my BSG swag: found a guy in The Netherlands who builds amazing props and one of his specialties is BSG! I just received his excellent lighted Colonial Warrior blaster with lights and sounds. It is amazing! He goes by the name of The Dutch Cylon if any of you want to search him out on Etsy.
He also makes the lighted Viper flight helmet. I already have one that I put together from a kit way back in 2005, but I just ordered his new one. Completely built and turnkey. Can't wait!
Hope you all are doing well. Let us know if you are still out there fighting to survive the Cylon tyranny!

A few more tidbits on the Colonial gear. I also managed to snag an original pair of Sidi motocross boots with the proper cam buckles that the actors used on the show. I also decided to take the plunge and paint them dark brown also like they were on BSG. They came out great!
As I said before, can't wait to actually wear the things in uniform! oh and btw, I also found a guy on Etsy who makes the Colonial warrior tan uniform. I decided to order one since my old one just doesn't fit right. I guess I have gained a little too much weight after all these yahrens on the Callisto! I got the uniform back in January and this thing looks like he pulled it right out of Starbuck's closet!! It is amazingly detailed and accurate. He goes by the name of Galactic Costumes on Etsy. If you want your own accurate warrior uniform, Stephane is the way to go. I believe he is French Canadian. Lives up around Montreal...it ain't cheap, but it is the only thing going right now for that uniform.
