"Well, I guess you have it all figured out. Nice and neat. But then again, I guess you never give anyone the benefit of the doubt, do you? You've been crucifying me since beginning Amy, haven't you? You've never been serious about taking the seal. You've never been serious about anything.
In case you don't know, I did inquire about you several times but the doctors wouldn't tell me anything. In case you haven't noticed, I"m not your next of kin. And as for not telling your mother or even you about your father's death, Urdea still has me under investigation which means I'm not at liberty to discuss any of it, yes, not even you. That's standard military procedure, which I'm sure you are aware of.
And in case you're wondering, no, I didn't kill your father. He was alive and well when I left my quarters. But you know what? This whole battlestar has turned into a silly academy dorm room lately! And I'm just getting sick of it.
Fine, you want to wallow in your own self-pity. Go ahead. I'm finally realizing that we were never meant to be together; that you'd never commit to me and right about now, well, so be it...

"Never commit to you?" Amy asked, shocked at the short memory. "I guess that night in the closet meant nothing then? I committed to you at that moment, in case you didn't notice. But I couldn't agree to the seal until after I came back. Well, I came back, with a baby no less, ready to take you up on your proposal. And what did I get? 'Uh well, uh I'll be here for you.' That and a cubit gets me a cup of capricacino. I'm telling you I want to take the seal, and you're suddenly dancing around it like a daggit on a sunspot. So don't you talk to me about commitment."

OK, you want to compare notes? What about several yahrens ago? No. I can't take the seal until we find the fleet. Which only took what, oh about two more yahrens? And then, what about Najinn?? What about Artus??
Doesn't look too good on your end, does it? Before you start reaming me, you'd better take a good look inside your own closet...

"I was young. Immature. And I know those are excuses but have you listened to people around here? They say our ages are too far apart. And I had a sheltered upbringing. It was my first taste of the world outside my own ship. It was more than I could handle, I'll admit that."
Her voice wavered a little. "Turns out my sheltered upbringing was anything but, I've since learned. It doesn't excuse how I behaved though. But lords, Charybdis, you put the proposal back on the table, and you got me pregnant on top of it!"

I never meant to dance around taking the seal with you. And I don't regret getting you pregnant, well, I mean, well, you know what I mean. Frack! How did things get so messed up? I guess it all started when Astraea was found alive. But I told you and her, I chose to be with you, Amy. Yes, things had become more difficult, but I still chose you. You didn't force me, nobody did. I chose it all by myself. I'm sorry it came out that way, like I was avoiding you. Just, so many things happened all at once. Astraea, your mission, your father and the investigation...
The pressures were unbearable on me. I don't know, maybe I wasn't thinking clearly. Maybe you're right. I don't know anymore. I don't know what I want anymore...

Down the hall from her quarters Brie could already see the problem. And hear it, since no one was bothering to keep their voice down. She approached her daughter and longtime friend. "What the frack is going on here?" she asked. “I got a message about a disturbance, I never thought...either take it inside or take it somewhere else, but remember that this is MY office. I have a meeting in a couple of centars, I expect that whatever you two are doing will be long over by then.” She started to walk away, then turned back towards them. “Honestly, I expect more from the both of you. Especially, you, Sir.” She paused for one more micron. “And Captain, standing halfway in the corridor is your bathrobe is not a very good reflection of Gold Squadron.” Before either of them had time to say a word, Brie hurried away.

Amy stared at her mom as she walked away down the corridor. She now knew what this mom/major situation was going to be like, at least when the situation sat on both sides. She bit her lip to keep it from trembling, then turned back to Charybdis, again clutching at the neck of her bathrobe selfconsciously.
"Uh, guess I should change. Wait a micron for me? Unless we're through here. Cause if we are that's fine. Unless we're not...."

"Uh. No...I mean, go ahead and change. I'll wait. I'd like to talk with you more. I think we both deserve that."
I looked down the corridor toward where Brie was. She was the epitome of what I had been telling Amy. She was one of those who would come to their own conclusions and not give you the benefit of the doubt. Especially senior officers. Where did she come off so superior? From what I had heard, she's another one who'd better take a deep look into her dirty laundry before she accuses someone else...
I stepped inside the office and shut the door as Amy went back to the private quarters to change...

Brie felt terrible for the way that she had spoken to Amy and Charybdis. Amy was her newfound daughter, they both really seemed to want to make the relationship work, but Brie was a warrior and squadron leader before anything else. Amy needed to realize that.
Then there was Charybdis. It wasn't that long ago that they had talked, deciding to make their friendship a priority once again. Now it felt like it had all just been empty words. At one time they had been so close, Brie wasn't really sure what had happened. She really missed him, missed feeling like he was almost family. But too much other felgercarb had gotten in the way, and she wasn't sure how to get the friendship back.
But none of that mattered at the micron. She had gone to her office because she had received an anonymous tip that there was a disturbance outside of it, she had never expected to see the Callisto's second-in-command there, or Amy in just a bathrobe. The very least they should have done was taken their argument inside. She shook her head. Time to go find Logan she thought to herself. I wonder where she is.

Amy walked quickly to the bedroom, shutting the door and dropping the robe to the floor as she made her way to the bed and the piles of clothes that were still there.
"Frack" she muttered as she picked out something hastily to wear. She realized her heart was pounding. From what? Charybdis? Mom? The mom/major beast?
She dressed quickly, and was at the mirror brushing through her hair when her eyes went black and she found herself staring back at the demon, who'd taken her place in the reflection.
"What do you think you are doing?" he asked. "You paid a heavy price for the information I provided for you."
"I can do with it what I please, can't I?" Amy asked in return.
"I can see into your heart" the demon reminded her.
"Stay out of my heart" Amy snapped.
"Too late for that." And the demon was gone.
Amy's eyes returned to normal. She'd stopped brushing, was just standing there with the brush in mid stroke. "Frack" she said. The demon... the deal... Sometimes he'd lie so low she would forget him completely. But he was never far away, and whatever he was in this all for, he still hadn't said. "Just walk with me, take my hand..." And she'd done so. But now what?
She finished brushing, and left the bedroom. "How about coffee?" she asked Charybdis. "Let's get out of here and get some?"
