“Lieutenant Aegina, please schedule a system briefing meeting for senior staff for first thing tomorrow morning. Thank you.” Commander Sheba ended the connection. She thought about what she’d learned from Majors Brie and JustinB just a few centons earlier. Their situation would likely be very difficult if her own experience was any guide. Of course, she and Apollo had had their shining moments, but they’d also had their darkest centars, and now, yahrens later, they were generally very happy with each other…whenever they could be together….
She turned back to the briefing reports, weighing the possibilities and probabilities, and their advantages and disadvantages, while putting thoughts of what Apollo might be doing at that particular moment deep into the back, but never completely out, of her mind.

Over the comm, Lieutenant Aegina’s voice said, “Major Lucian, Commander Sheba just asked that you please report to the War Room 10 centons before the staff meeting in the morning,”
“Will do, Lieutenant,” replied Lucian. He returned to his study of yet another systems technical manual, envious of Fallel’s ability to read once and retain the information seemingly effortlessly. For Lucian, serious study was usually required if he couldn’t learn what was needed from hands-on experience.
* * *
Early the next cycle, Lucian entered the War Room to find Commander Sheba sitting at the table going over some reports with Lieutenant Finky. The Commander dismissed Finky, who gave Lucian a mischievous grin and a wink as she approached him. Lucian gave her a questioning squint with one eye, but she just wrinkled her nose and arched her eyes a bit as she passed him, saying, “Good morning, Major.” She exited the room, leaving Lucian and Sheba alone.
“Good morning, Lucian, have a seat,” started the Commander.
“Good morning, Commander,” replied Lucian as he sat down across from her. “Engineering reports all systems operational within normal parameters.”
“Yes, thank you, I have the report. Lucian, that’s not why I called you here. Some time ago, you told me that you’d like advanced training in battlestar systems, that you’d like to go after your Master Senior Engineer certification, and that the best place to do all of that would be the Galactica. Do you still feel that is correct?”
Lucian nodded. “Yes, Ma’am. I know a lot from my training aboard the O-9, I’ve learned a lot more from the battlestar technical manuals, and I’ve learned even more from on-the-job experience, but there is always that nagging doubt in my mind that I’m not sure I’ll know what to do if it has to be done right away in combat or at some other critical time. The engineering staff has people that are experienced in various ship’s systems, but I believe the senior staff must have knowledge of the overall system. That’s why there aren’t many people, including myself, who are really qualified to fill the job I’m attempting to fill. I think experience with the senior engineer aboard the Galactica, in conjunction with obtaining that certification, would be quite valuable to me and hopefully to the Callisto.”
It was Sheba’s turn to nod, but slowly. “Lucian, don’t sell yourself short. I’ve seen the effort you’ve expended as you’ve learned this ship over the yahrens. However, I must agree that some ‘war-stories’ and lesser-known knowledge from a more senior officer might be helpful, even though you must always remember that the Callisto is a different ship, with some different systems, than the Galactica. My father included some upgrades in the design of the Callisto that the Galactica engineers would probably sell their souls to get, but due to time and facilities, they may never see on their ship.” She paused for a moment, then continued, “Therefore, Lucian, I’ve arranged a temporary duty assignment for you aboard the Galactica, with the Galactica’s Assistant Chief Engineer to be temporarily assigned to duty aboard the Callisto in your stead. Once we arrive in the Borreck Cluster, the Galactica will be sending a shuttle with several transferees as well as their engineer, a Major Teslor, who will be filling in for you. You will be taking the shuttle back to the Galactica to fill in for him and to pursue that certification. Since we don’t know the duration of the assignment, the two of you will be swapping quarters for the duration so you’ll have something more comfortable than standard TDY quarters. Now, get there, learn it, and get back here, understood?”
“Yes, Ma’am,” Lucian said with a smile, “and thank you. I look forward to returning as soon as possible.”
“Very good, Lucian, and good luck. Now,” she said, looking at the chrono, “everyone should be arriving for this meeting any moment. Oh, and Lucian, enjoy the ride to the Galactica with Lieutenant Colonel Flynt and his team.”
Sheba smiled as Lucian rolled his eyes and sighed….

RPG Note: This is supposed to be the next morning. I've been told several times lately that this jump is taking FOREVER, so I thought it was about time to start moving things forward. So for continuity this is taking place AFTER one of two of the current threads. Sorry for any confusion. I'm not trying to step on anyone's toes so please feel free to continue what you were working on. This thread was started almost two months ago, so we've been working in different time frames for awhile.
**
One by one the senior staffed entered the Commander's War Room. Brie, coffee in hand, was trying hard not to rub the sore spot on her neck. She purposely didn't looked at JustinB when he entered. They needed to prove that the could keep their relationship separate from their duty.
Commander Sheba was the last to enter. "Good, everyone is here," she started. "Let's begin. It's estimated that we will be out of the jump sometime in the next two centars. The new system we're referring to as Borreck. The Galactica will be sending a shuttle to scout out the system, it is believed that there are several planets, we're hoping that we'll be able to replenish our fuel and other supplies. The fuel from the Cylon baseship has helped immensely, but has only gone so far. I want Bronze Squadron to have one and Black Squadron to have two 2-person patrols on standby. Major Brie, did you get my message?"
"Yes, Ma'am," Brie replied.
"Good. I'll meet with you concerning Gold as soon as we're done here. Now I'd like to turn the floor over to..."
The meeting continued. Several people spoke about what to expect in the next system, how long they might be there, and when to expect the next jump, although it was all conjecture. Finally Sheba spoke again. "In conclusion, I have two announcements to make. First off, you'll all be glad to know that the team from the Galactica has complied quite a bit of information on the so-called Purple Cylons, and they are certain that they will be able to come up with some sort of a guide as to how to fight them and what their greatest weaknesses are. There are still a couple of interviews that they need to conduct, Major Jorlan, please make sure that Lieutenants Bulk-up and Grease see Colonial Flynt before the jump is over. I know that there have been rumors of thoughts of wrongdoing on the baseship mission, but Colonial Flynt and his team want to commend both Gold and Bronze Squadrons for an exemplary job." Commander Sheba paused, a small amount of sadness on her face. "And finally I need to announce that we're losing one of our own. An opportunity too good to pass up has been offered to Major Lucian, and he'll be transferring to the Galactica, at least for a while. Now, are there any questions?" Sheba scanned the room, the shocked faces of those around her said it all. "Meeting adjourned. Major Brie, please stay, everyone else is dismissed."

The Ready Room for Gold Squadron's barracks was quiet this early in the morning. All the Warriors on duty had already departed for their assigned tasks and the few who remained were still in their bunks.
Logan sat in her usual spot at the farthest table from the door, sipping her second cup of coffee and going over the events of the night before.
She had sat in the O Club with Skyler and Brik until they were too sleepy to make jokes at her expense any longer. She hadn't seen either of them yet this morning, but knew they were up and about or they would have been here with her, musing on what was going on in the briefing that was currently underway in Commander Sheba's office.
She still wasn't sure what had come over her last night in her meeting with Rizou. But the smug look on the reporter's face had just been too much. Anyone with that much certainty and no proof deserved what she got. And if it helped out a fellow Warrior, all the better. Romantic relationships between Warriors were always fraught with uncertainty. But if she could help get the gossip mongers off JustinB's back, she'd do it. Happiness was in as short supply as fuel at times. And as far as she was concerned, JustinB's private life was separate from his duties to the Fleet and none of the IFB's concern. She couldn't help the grin on her face as she pictured the reporter asking JustinB about his relationship with the redheaded lieutenant and his confusion. She made a mental note to warn him the next time they crossed paths.
She had been trying to not think about her meeting with Comeek, but it came back to her now and she frowned. She had never understood the weak-willed followers of Pierce and she understood this one least of all. How can he possibly think that I am some sort of prize? Remembering his overt stare and the glazed expression as he had called her 'my pet' made her skin crawl again.
But there was something else...hope. He had seemed convinced that there were others and had hoped Logan would be able to name them. Even if there were others still free in the Fleet, what good would it do them? Pierce was dead, as were many of his followers. The ten left in the Brig would end up on the Prison Barge. If any of Pierce's group made themselves known in any way, they would be caught. The Commander knew how they operated and Logan was confident that any further scheming on their parts would be seen through quickly and dealt with.
Another Warrior walked in, shedding his jacket and heading towards the barracks, from the lines under his eyes she guessed he was just coming off a late shift.
Logan checked her personal comm. Nothing. She knew that as soon as Brie was out of the briefing, she'd be sending messages to Gold with their orders. All she could do now was wait.

After Major Brie left Commander Sheba took a micron or two to herself. All in all, things had gone well. It was always hard to run a briefing when no one really knew what to expect. The best experts from the fleet could still only make guesses. Sheba knew that no matter what anyone said, no one would ever know what the next system would hold until they were there. She just prayed it wasn't Cylons.
There was a knock on her door. "Enter," Sheba stated, expecting it to be someone with questions from the briefing.
Roxanna-Rizou walked through the door. "Commander, about that interview with Major JustinB..."
"Denied," Sheba said immediately.
"But..."
"We will be exiting the jump very soon," Sheba explained, a fake smile on her face. "I need my squadron leaders concentrating on what faces the fleet. It's as simple as that. Now if you'd like to schedule something in a couple of cycles, maybe something can be worked out then."
"I want to be off this stupid ship in a couple of cycles," Roxanna-Rizou mumbled.
"Unless there's something else urgent, I have a lot of work to do," Commander Sheba said, the smile gone.
"There is one more thing," Roxanna-Rizou said. "Captain Skyler, from Gold Squadron, he did a lot of damage to an expensive vid-camera."
"Then I'll have to recommend him for a commendation," Sheba replied without missing a beat. "You would be well advised to stay out of everyone's way while you're still with us, since this is always an extremely busy time. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a prisoner transfer to coordinate."
"Thank you for your time," the reporter said. She closed the door behind her. She couldn't wait to get off this stinking ship.
[Note: the Gold Squadron story continued on "Prisoners" thread.]

As I walked into the briefing with a coffee in my hand I saw Brie was already seated. Taking a swig, I tried to see if Brie was looking at me. She wasn't. It was understandable that this is how it would be for now on if we were to continue the relationship. I sat and listened while Commander Sheba gave her briefing. After the briefing was concluded, I made my way to the Black Squadron Office. First thing first was to see who I would place on the patrols. After going through the roster I made my mind up and wrote up the order. I then posted the mission orders in the Black Squadron ready room. ****** Borreck Cluster PatrolsRECON PATROL 1Major Justin and Ensign Missygoat RECON PATROL 2Captain Kris and Ensign Darin Karis All Black Squadron Warriors are to remain in the Ready Room until stood down By Captain Randrius who is in charge until my return. By Order Major JustinB Black Squadron CO ****** Once the order was posted I went to find Ensign Missygoat and Ensign Darin Karis.

As Acting Senior Flight Officer while Major BatGal was away from the flight operations station attending the staff meeting, Lieutenant Finky would ordinarily have been quite busy. There were always incoming updates that had to be studied closely so she would know exactly what resources were available to defend the Callisto and the Fleet in the event of an attack, or what might be available if the Callisto was needed to stage an attack or lead a rescue. In this case, she’d already reviewed the latest maintenance updates on the Callisto’s Viper fighters, her Cobra bombers, and even her shuttles and drop ships. Finky had reviewed, and rereviewed, the list of Warriors available for flight, those on medical leave, and those temporarily assigned to other duties, so she knew who could be ready to go at a moment’s notice. Of course, since the Callisto was still in the jump, at least for a little while, none of that was going to happen, at least for a little while, so when the Callisto’s senior officers started to emerge from the War Room, she watched, waiting for BatGal to come out and tell her about the upcoming assignment.
When Major BatGal came out a few microns later, Finky immediately knew something was wrong, for BatGal wasn’t exactly by herself. Majors Lucian and BatGal came out walking together, side by side, each with an arm around the other’s waist, heads close together, whispering something. Finky strained to hear the discussion, but was frustrated when she couldn’t. She grew even more curious and more excited when they advanced toward, but stopped short of the flight operations area. Hoxha and the other Flight Officers also looked up in curiosity as the two Majors suddenly embraced, gently at first, and then in a tight squeeze.
“What in Hades?” Finky asked, more aloud than she’d intended, when BatGal appeared to kiss Lucian on the cheek. Then Lucian released her, gave her a smile as he touched her cheek, and then turned away. Moving around the Bridge, he stopped to speak with Swensson, who had just resumed his station in charge of the Callisto’s on-board armament.
Without looking directly at those around flight operations, Major BatGal said, “I’ll be back in a couple of centons. Lieutenant Finky, carry on.” BatGal turned and quickly entered the restroom on the side of the Bridge.
Lucian shook Captain Swensson’s hand, then started toward the nearest exit from the Bridge. When he didn’t catch her eye, Finky quickly turned to Flight Officer Hoxha and said, “Hoxha, you’re in charge. I’ll be back in a few centons.”
“Where do you think you’re going? You just used the turboflush a few centons ago. Surely you don’t have to go again?” he whispered at her bitingly.
Finky was in a hurry to keep from losing Major Lucian and she was deeply angered at Hoxha's remark. Struggling to maintain the control that she’d worked so long and so hard to gain, she gave him an evil look and whispered back at him, quite loud enough that several people nearby could hear the anger in her voice. “Hoxha, it’s really absolutely none of your fracking business whether or not I’ve got to ‘go again.’ If you’d been in charge, maybe, just maybe, it would’ve been, but you wasn’t until I just placed you charge, so shut the frack up about it!” Seeing the others looking at her, she spoke up a bit louder, “And if you all really and truly must know, I’m going to find out what in Hades just happened!”
And she left the Bridge at a run.

Not knowing where Lucian was heading, Lieutenant Finky had resorted to running down the corridor, hoping to catch up with him before he slipped away into one of the passages leading to the bowels of the ship. She’d nearly run into several people along the way, generally giving them a quick ‘apology’ in the form of “GET THE HELL OUT OF MY WAY!” Just as she was about to give up, she rounded a corner and caught sight of a turbolift door closing. Taking a chance, she literally jumped through the narrowing slot, and on losing her balance in the process, she was caught, quite fortunately, by two strong male arms that slowed her forward momentum. She stopped, still off balance with her head just centimeters from the back of the lift, still in her ‘rescuer’s’ arms. Breathing heavily, she held onto the man, and then turned her head to see who it was.

I made my way down to the forward ODOC. I had a feeling Ensign's Missygoat and Darin Karis would be there. I was right on both counts and with even more luck so was Kris. "Major, we just sat down for a drink would you care to join us?' Kris asked. "Sorry for what I am about to do,' I said as the servitor had just placed down their drinks. "Sorry for what Major?" Kris and the Ensigns replied in unison. "No drinks for you three. You will all be on patrol soon. Kris, you have Ensign Darin Karis on your wing while Missygoat you are with me. Report to the briefing room in thirty centons." With that I left the ODOC. ******** Sitting in the corner of the forward ODOC was Roxzanna-Rizou and another warrior. As she turned around she saw Major JustinB talking to three warriors which she presumed where in his squadron. She excused herself from the warrior and went towards the group. By the time she got there JustinB had slipped away. "Hi, my name is.." "Roxzanna -Rizou an IFB reporter. What is it you want?" Kris asked. "Well, I just happened to see Major JustinB but I was to late to see him. I was wondering, can you confirm to me that Major JustinB is dating Lieutenant Logan from Gold Squadron and if so how long has it been going on?" The looks on the faces from the warriors assured Roxzanna that they didn't know. "As far as we know the Major is single and definitely not fraternising with any person from Gold Squadron," Kris replied. With that Roxzanna stormed off. As she did so, the three warriors talked about what Roxzanna had said. ******* THIRTY CENTONS LATERKris, Missygoat and Darin Karis entered the briefing room witha few microns to spare. "OK people. when we enter the Borreck Cluster a Scout ship will be launched to look for a planet with resources. Our job is provide basic patrols around the fleet. Kris, you and Darin Karis will cover the rear of the fleet and beyond while Missygoat and I have the heart of the fleet and forward. Once we launch, the rest of Black Squadron is on ready alert. Core Control will download the flight plan Commander Sheba wants us to have. We are not expecting any trouble according to the intelligence but I always plan as if there is. Any sign of cylons and you call it in and don't engage until you have backup or as a last resort. that's it for now any questions?" The three of them looked at each other as if they were debating to who had to ask me something. "JustinB," it was Kris, "Is it true what it is being said about you and Lieutenant Logan from Gold Squadron being romantically involved with each other?" "Where in hades did you hear that felgercarb?" I asked. "Well it actually came initially from Roxzanna-Rizou, but it was confirmed to us by a bridge officer that overheard Logan tell Roxzanna Rizou that you and her are involved." I didn't know what to say at first. I was involved with someone in Gold Squadron but It wasn't Logan. "No I am not involved with Logan whatsoever. Surely you know that rumours always fly around on a Battlestar, especially when Roxzanna-Rizou is involved. Anyway, report to your vipers and make sure they are checked out and ready to go on a moments notice. Dismissed." I definitely had to see Brie before she got wind of the latest rumour for her sake and to see what is going on with Logan.

“Lieutenant, you know these have an open door button,” said the man with the gruff voice. “I would have been glad to have held it for you if you’d called out.” He helped her regain her balance and then noticed the wide-eyed glare she was giving him as she apparently recognized him. She quickly punched a button on the panel.
The man in the dark gray uniform looked at her and gave her a curious grin. “Lieutenant Colonel Flynt, at your service. And you…are?” he asked.
“Too late,” she replied as the turbo lift door opened and she fled outward.
As the door closed, she heard Flynt call, “The pleasure was all mine!”
Too late for him to hear, she replied, “I’m sure it was!”
* * *
She ran down first one, then two, then several more corridors, but had no success. She made several inquiries, but no one had seen Lucian on this level. On the verge of giving up, she decided to try his quarters. At a run, she took off for one more try.
