Very interesting and scholarly work on everything you'd ever want to know about George Lucas and his early days!!! secrethistoryofstarwars.com/

Yeah, it's pretty cool. The whole premise of the work is that the original Star Wars is really about Luke and what happens to him.
The entire story about Darth Vader and him being Luke's father is a totally made-up thing that George Lucas added as he made Empire Strikes Back. The story that he says about the entire saga being about Vader now is totally BS....

"Vader" is Dutch for "father". That's too big of a coincidence for me to think that Lucas didn't have that in mind to begin with.

He puts forth very convincing evidence that in none of the script drafts of Star Wars is it ever hinted at that Vader is Luke's father, in fact, he goes into great detail about the scripts where Luke's father is still in fact alive and or killed off by Vader!!! The scripts do not bear that out that Vader was Luke's father...
Granted, it did become that, but it did not start out that way as we are often led to believe...look at the original Star Wars movie. Absolutely nothing in there to show that Vader is their father or even that Leia and Luke are related. Because the early scripts show that there isn't anything related about them...

I'm not sure I get why this is important. I mean, either way, this is still Lucas' story. When he decided to change it's focus or even if he did really doesn't matter.

It really doesn't matter! You're right, it's Lucas' story and he can do or say what he wants with it, but some people have too much time on their hands and this guy had way too much time to write this book. I guess I'm in the same mode since I'm reading it!!!

LOL!!
I guess stuff like this just doesn't bother me. It's like all the Trekkies who nitpick about continuity and what ships are seen in what episodes and how they shouldn't be there. I can pick stuff apart with the best of them, but some things just leave me scratching my head.
