Sorry I'm late on this subject. Al, you know I've read every book out there and I love them all! LOL Then again ... I'm biased.
As for the RH series... I agree with Brie on that and I did mention something to that affect at Dcon to Richard and got the usual roll of his eyes and as he pats me on the head. *shrug* maybe one day we'll get thru... then again... he was pretty slushed up when he got to the party lol

I am currently reading Tales of the Bounty Hunters put out around 10 years ago. Just saw it in the bookstore and it caught my attention, mainly cuz I wanted to read the story about IG-88, he is my favorite bounty hunter...very interesting how it ends...
I"m working on the 4LOM and Zuckuss story right now and it finishes off with Boba's story (which I've heard totally does not jive with what was revealed in the prequels...)

I started reading the Star Wars novels way back when....the first one I ever read was "Star Wars", about 6 weeks before "The Empire Strikes Back" made it's Debut. ( Keep in mind, I saw "Star Wars", the first time around, when they released it in theatres in early '77, before the recalled it, redid a few things, and added "Episode IV: "A New Hope"). TO this day I can remember sitting in the front row the first time I saw it...the pull down to Tatooine, and watching the Tantive V go overhead, and thinking, "Wow, Cool" and then, the feeling as the entire theatre started to vibrate slightly, just before the sounds started to become audible...the low, bass thrum...and then, watching as the stark grey nose of the Star Destroyer edged onto the screen......( OK, yes, I was a little high..but I remeber that it seemed to take forever for the Destroyer to pass overhead...)
But, back to the books....
I read every Star Wars novel I could find. " Splinter of the Mind's Eye"..the first real non-movie novel...even now I have a copy of it... At one point, I had every single copy of the first Star Wars COmic series....
and then....
"The Courtship of Princess Leia" irked me somewhat. OK, the basic story was good, up to and including the Witchs of Dathomir...but...in that novel, Han Solo comes off as a buffoon...he pulls stupid stunts, for no reason, and even in his little parts, doesn't know why.
DarkSabre was nearly as bad...and "THe Crystal Star" was even worse.....
"The New Rebellion" showed promise...
Then came "The Hand of Thrawn". Finally, Zahn stepped back in, and the series was back to looking up....
But then, the final indignity....
"Vector Prime...."
Started out wonderfully. A whole new ENemy, the Youzang Vong. ( Hope I spelled that right...) Dark, powerfull, and mysterious. I was starting to look forward to a whole new group of novels..until....
They killed Chewie. It wasn't even the fact that the killed Chewie that killed the series for me, it was the how. Not only was the Falcon close enough to see the moon hit, but Han was actually looking at Chewie when it it hit....I can put aside some basic physics ( or any other science) when reading Sci-Fi, but when an author totally ignores reality, as in this case, I get a little peeved. THe resulting explosion form even a minor moon, on a planets surface, would have vaporized everything within an area of hundreds of thousands of cubic Kilometers, let alone something close enough to have had an un-aided view of the contact.
I have never, and probably will never ( unless I get desperate for new reading material) read another Star Wars novel since. ( And, I have to admit, that's not as unlikely as it sounds, considering that my personal library consists of over 2,000 books, and that's just the ones I liked enough to read more than 5 times....)
