Well, this is depressing! You guys make it sound like so much fun and here I haven't read any of the books. I've seen the movies in bit and pieces on tv though...
Favorite character? Starbuck from TOS Favorite book? The Lovely Bones. Guarranteed you'll cry more than once if you read it. (It's also the latest book I read. My fave changes all the time!) Favorite movie since my favorite book isn't a movie yet? Not sure. Resident Evil maybe. Zombies rock!
Isn't it nice how I butt in off topic? We return you now to our regularly scheduled conversation....

I haven't answered my own questions yet! Let's see, favorite character(s): Luke Skywalker, Wedge Antillies and TOS Starbuck. Too bad Zac didn't live longer. And Roy Delucca on General Hospital, although he died and then came back. Favorite book: eBay: The Missing Manual by Nancy Conner. Go buy it now, at www.amazon.com/gp/product/0596006446/sr=8-1/qid=1152734914/ref=pd_bbs_1/102-3119618-0735311?ie=UTF8 If anyone wants to know why that's my favorite book, write to me. It wouldn't make a very good movie, though. Oh yeah, we were talking Harry Potter. Amy, you threw me off-track! Character: Neville. No second favorite, no one is even close. Book: Goblet of Fire-love the darkness. That book blew me away. Movie: Goblet of Fire (although I miss the Dursleys)

For those who think Dumbledore might make a miraculous recovery here is a quote from Rowling at a joint news conference before a charity reading by the three writers at New York's Radio City Music Hall with John Irving and Stephen King.
"We're working towards the end I always planned but a couple of characters I expected to survive have died and one character got a reprieve," she said, declining to elaborate.
Asked about the wisdom of killing off fictional characters, Rowling said she didn't enjoy killing the major character who died in book six - for the sake of those who haven't read it yet she avoided naming the victim - but she said the conventions of the genre demanded the hero go on alone.
But Harry's fate may or may not be sealed.
"I understand why an author would kill a character from the point of view of not allowing others to continue writing after the original author is dead," she added, leaving the door open to the worst fears of some fans - that Harry could die.

I still think that anything is possible. She enjoys playing with people's minds.
Richard Harris, before his cancer and untimely death, had been contracted to play Dumbledore for all seven movies. That could have been a huge legal mess had he survived but wasn't in the 7th movie. And yeah, you could say it was the picture in the Headmaster's Office for 7, but with the amount of money they would have been paying him I would think they would want him as more than just a portrait.
In the end, it's all about money.

Yeah, I'm with Brie. I take what Rowling releases with a grain of salt, especially after thinking a major character was going to be killed in Goblet of Fire. Yes, Cedric was important, moreso in the book than the movie, but to call him a main character is pushing it in my view.
And of course, if he was really dead, that would mean Snape really killed him and I just am not willing to accept that. Come back and 'I told you so' later if I'm wrong.
We'll see.

With all the interest in Dumbledore coming back after dying in Book 6, I tried to think back on the ending. Now that I have, Dumbledore didn't do much to defend himself. Maybe Dumbledore decided to use Voldermorts trick to come back to life to give Voldermort and his followers the impression they had killed the most powerful wizard in the world and lull them into a false sense of security.
Just wish Rowling would hurry up and publish the book. But in saying that it will be sad knowing there will be no more adventures of Harry Potter.
Also can't wait till the Order of The Phoinex comes out at the movies.

I think they somehow used the Draught of Living Death to fake Dumbledore's death. They talk about it several times in the book and since when has Rowling ever mentioned a potion that didn't have a more important purpose later on...i.e. veritaserum, polyjuice potion, etc.
Well frack...now I'm just going to have to reread it again.

For those of us who was hoping Dumbledore was going to make an appearance in Book 7, JKR has ruled it out. Here is what she had to say on Dumbledore. - Don't expect Dumbledore to pull a Gandalf. - Dumbledore IS really dead. "Everyone needs to move through the five stages of grief" and get past his death. She also apologizes to DumbledoreIsNotDead.com for ruining the purpose of their site. For more answers to your questions go to www.mugglenet.com/app/news/show/248I have found mugglenet.com to be filled with great articles and theories, so if you like Harry Potter it is worth checking out.
