Since we obviously have some Harry Potter fans here who is buying the book? Where? When? Anybody partying for it?
We're going out of town for a long, non-Harry Potter related weekend. I was really upset when I realized it was the same weekend. I did a little digging, there's a Barnes & Noble (free plug) less than 4 minutes from our hotel that's hosting a party, so we're going! We've been to the parties for the last two books and really had a good time.
If anyone has any fun stories about buying any of the first 6 books feel free to post that here as well.

I pre-ordered mine but won't be getting it until Saturday afternoon.
I've pre-ordered all the books since the second one. I went to a bookstore opening party at midnight for one of the books (shows my age that I can't recall which one, but I think it was Goblet of Fire...).
I'd love to go to a party for it this time as well, but around here, the nearest Barnes and Noble is over an hour away and not very practical.
Also, I am very wary of anyone trying to spoil this for me and am afraid that if I went Friday night with a large crowd there would be at least one loudmouthed jerk who'd try to spoil it for me.

For those local to LOGAN..... Wal Mart is having a party, not sure of the times it starts etc, but custome contest an the like. I was at that party you were at, also do not remember the book, but that party kinda of blowed chunks. Stood there with the few lame games they played, which wasn't many, for several hours only to find out that the only books they had were the pre-ordered folks, everyone else would have to wait till the next day seems they forgot to mention that in the flyers.... Left there, got it at Wal-Mart, which had plenty of books left, about ten dollars cheaper than the book stores. Other than hangin out with friends it wasn't worth it. I have a wedding to go to this weekend, so.... I won't get to read it till atleast Sunday

Yeah, that 'party' did tank. I was so excited about getting the book I didn't really care, but I'd of been better off just going to Wally World with you guys and saving ten bucks.
Speaking of Wally World...that is the LAST place I want to be at midnight. I think there will be even more of a chance that some moron will pick up the book, flip to the end, and blurt out "Oh hey, _____dies!!!!" at Walmart. No thanks. I'll be sleeping then hopefully in preparation for a reading marathon the rest of the weekend.
Honestly, the thing that worries me most is my own curiousity. It will be HARD to not skip ahead to peak at a few pages.

Not for me..... Never even had the urge to do that. Harry dies, Harry Lives, the books are still over. That is truly the sad part. The end of a great series. I have never been this excited about a book release until HP started, and I was slow to jump on the band wagon with that. I think Book Three was released before I even started reading the series. Only took three says to read all three books, but I had to work one day, so you will have to forgive me it took so long.
Yes I will be sadden at the lose of a great character, unless the death is a pointless death, then I will just be pi$$ed off. If you insist on killing them (the hero good guy characters, no matter how minor a main charcter they are) make them go out like John Wayne would. Don't kill one just to be killing one cause you said you would. Don't kill one just to show how evil the bad guys are, we know that already. Make it mean something please.... well I hope she made it mean something since it is already done.
Ok, this is under the wrong topic.....
