Rick Springfield will be returning to his role as Doctor Noah Drake on General Hospital for four glorious days in November. Air dates have yet to be annouced. This is exciting news, combining two of my longtime obsessions. And at least GH had enough sense to not blow him up!! You can stop rolling your eyes at me now. That's the same look my daughter gave me.

Shepard Smith even mentioned this on FOX News during the G-Block segment the other night. He even did a couple of RS lyrics tie-ins with the short mention!

Thanks, Lucian. I knew that this was big news! I've read a couple of places now that the first air date will be December 2, but there's still nothing official from ABC.

From rickspringfield.com: NOAH’S BACK! RICK SPRINGFIELD RETURNS AS DR. NOAH DRAKE ON ABC DAYTIME’S “GENERAL HOSPITAL” Award winning musician and actor Rick Springfield returns as “General Hospital’s” Dr. Noah Drake, the role he originated nearly 25 years ago, it was announced today by Brian Frons, president, ABC Daytime. His first airdate will be December 2. “Dr. Noah Drake has always been a fan favorite and we are so happy that storyline will allow for the character to make an exciting return to the canvas,” said Mr. Frons in making the announcement. Mr. Springfield added: “I guess there was a reason why they didn’t kill Noah off in the ‘80s. This should be fun. I’m looking forward to it.” In the upcoming storyline, Noah returns to Port Charles when Dr. Robin Scorpio (Kimberly McCullough) urgently needs him for his medical expertise in helping Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) recover from his life-threatening seizures. Recently awarded three Daytime Emmy Awards, including a record eighth win for Best Daytime Drama, “General Hospital” celebrated 42 years of broadcasting on April 1, 2005, and is the longest-running dramatic serial on the ABC Television Network. “General Hospital” consistently rates as one of the top-rated Daytime programs with Women 18-49. “General Hospital” was created by Frank and Doris Hursley. Jill Farren Phelps is the executive producer. Mary O'Leary, Mercer Barrows and Michelle Henry are producers. “General Hospital” airs Monday-Friday (3:00-4:00 p.m., ET, 2:00-3:00 p.m., PT) on the ABC Television Network. The scheduled airdates are: 12/2, 12/5, 12/6, 12/7 ** Also, he's scheduled to appear on The View on December 1. How do I know these things? I would I not know these things!

So he's just coming back in a limited return and not full time?

Yeah, it's limited. There is the possibility of Noah becoming a recurring character, but he won't go back on contract because it would cut into his touring schedule. Speaking of, if you ever get a chance to see him...GO! I've never seen a performer who has so much fun live in concert. (And guys, the audience will be 90% female...)

Okay, before I say this I do realize that I'm the only one who actually cares. That said...
I was reading in ABC Soaps in Depth yesterday (it was a long line at the supermarket) that they'll be introducing a new contract character, a younger Drake (quack quack) who will probably be related to Noah, most likely his son. That leaves the door wide open for more visits from everybody's favorite rock star who is also a former soap star who also got blown up in the pilot of Battlestar Galactica.

Hey Brie,
just saw a Rick Springfield concert on HDNet last night. It was from a performance in Illinois. He certainly did look like he was having a bunch of fun!

RS is going to be playing in this area this summer but I might be gone.
