While they stood there waiting for Nero to Say something Gher moved quickly up to the collection of officers. "Excuse me Commander, Captain. I think you're going to want to hear what I have to say. It probably has to do with your current conversation. Ensign Edan landed with his Wingman Ensign Guinevere in order to allow my Crew to look over Lt Dolet's Viper. He feared that while the base techs repaired it, they may have done something that would cause a malfunction. I can tell you that the Viper is in Working order," Gher paused for a minute and looked right at Nero, "but is not up to specs. IT seems that 90% of the equipment that differenciates an Improved Viper from the Basic model had been replaced. In other words, Lt Dolet's Viper has been downgraded to standard Configuration."
"So, someone experimented on the Viper before we arrived." Ensign Edan added.
"Yes sir. On a hunch I personally inspected Captain Nero's Personal Viper. And I found those advanced parts installed in his Ship. I then had a team look over Ensign Guinevere's Viper. What they found there are attempts to duplicate the Advanced parts in there, but with a lesser degree of success."
Lt Plwel seemed to put all the parts together first. "That's why he intercepted the escorts. He wanted to test the improved Viper he was flying against our ships. But he hadn't counted on us Flying Scarlets. A Viper about 10 yahrens more advanced then what he had stumbled upon. That's why Ensign Edan had a bit more trouble then he shold have had with the Captain. Logan, the Airframes of the Improved Vipers and Those standard Vipers are the same. it's the internals that make the difference."
:And when he got his hands on a Scarlet, mine, which Captian logan took for the flight, he couldn't resist trying to look inside her and find even more to use in his viper. But time ran out, and the differences in the Vipers are more extreme. he couldn't just pull and switch." Edan was now glaring at Nero. "Had the Cylons arrived just like the first time, we would have been killed almost immediately. I would have expected my viper to preform like an iomproved model, and Captaion Logan would have not been able to control hers."
"As if you wouldn't have taken advantage of the chance to improve your ships if our places were reversed! I did what any of you would have done!" Nero nearly spit out his answer.
"Yes, but we would have TOLD you when we learned that we were going to fly together. We would not have put you into harms way for no reason." Sheba answered for everyone.

She fumed under her breathe as she entered Decon chamber 1. The door closed and the decontamination vapours released, filling the small chamber surrounding her entirely. Her mind went back in time.
"That's my wingman you're talking to. And I'm looking out for her, making sure nobody hurts her. So you watch yourself", came the echo of Artus's words in her head from all those sectars ago, the night she and Triton were enjoying their first drink together in the OC on her first day on the Callisto. Artus had wandered in and got completely plastered at the bar. After slamming down the last of his third Sagittaren Sunrises , he staggered over to their table, and started abusing Triton.
"You make any wrong moves and you'll find yourself floating back to the colonies", he continued, glaring at Triton.
She came out of her memories of that day, as the vapours dissipated , and she realized the door of the decon chamber had released.
Persephone stepped out and came face to face with Artus who had just finished in the decon chamber next to her, simultaneously.
"Well....., say it.", she spouted.
"Say what?", he replied.
"You know. That Triton is an over possessive spoilt aristocratic brat who thinks he can get away with anything, just because he's related to Commander Apollo!", she admitted.
"Well..." Artus tilted his head, as if to say, I could have told you that, and then he looked as though he was about to add his own opinion of Triton when Persephone spoke over the top of him, persisting with her rampage.
"I mean, I spent the last 11 sectars with him and you'd think he'd know by now that I only had eyes for him, and would never see someone else behind his back, for sagan's sake, what does he take me for? Some sort of socialator? I was in love with him! ...at least I thought I was. It just makes me feel like he was never going to believe in me, no matter how faithful I may have been. He would always be watching me like a hawke, assuming that every guy I spoke to or accepted an ale from was someone I was having some sordid affair with! "
Artus listened silently as he studied her face, her eyes, her mouth, the one his own lips had touched, savouring the taste of her cherry lip gloss, just over a centare ago back on the Callisto. That lip gloss, she had reapplied it at some point, and it gleemed in the bay's lights. He imbued her figure, the way she wore those form fitting breeches and tunic, even though he couldn't look down the neck line of it, he certainly appreciated the way she filled it out in all the right places.
Persephone raised her hands in the air in exasperation at the situation with Triton, still talking, letting off steam. Artus saw that she had managed to clean her fingernails of the grease he had soiled them with earlier. They looked perfect again, how did she manage that? Artus wondered. He then took one of her hands in his own, Persephone stopped in the middle of her complaints and looked at him. Then Artus put his other hand upon her shoulder, turning her around to walk with him as he spoke softly to her. "Why don''t we enjoy a cold one together ,wherever they serve Ale here, while we await for the others to arrive."
Persephone was taken by surprise her eyes became spellbound by his gaze. His eyes had turned gentle and compassionate. She hadn't seen that look in his eyes before. It calmed her like as if a Being of Light embraced her or something. It was almost ethereal. Ethereal? Artus? What did they use in those decon chambers in the past anyhow?
Turning a corner, where no one would see them, Artus stopped and her legs came to a standstill as well. He glanced either way, then pulled her in close to him, cupping her face in his hands, he brought her lips up to his, and kissed her once more. She was lost once more in his touch, his arms held her in close. She didn't fight it this time, it was futile, she had never been kissed like this before. Persephone seem to melt into Artus' embrace.

"Yes, but we would have TOLD you when we learned that we were going to fly together. We would not have put you into harms way for no reason." Sheba answered for everyone.
Nero looked uncomfortable for the first time. But Logan thought it was probably a result of him getting caught and not that he had any regrets. Unable to stop herself any longer, she looked Nero square in the face and said, "Captain. If you had any sense of what being a Warrior is all about, you would realize we're all on the same team here. And we have a shuttle full of techs right over there who we are taking back to the base to tweak the older model Vipers and share tech with you. If we have any chance of surviving this...AGAIN...we have to be able to trust each other and get over whatever preconceived ideas that could possibly hold us back from that!"
"Well said, Captain. " Sheba hadn't taken her eyes off Nero throughout Logan's speech. "And speaking of that shuttle, Captain Logan, Lt. Plwel, prepare to escort. Ensign Edan, grab your wing and lead them in. Gher, finish prep on their Vipers and get those from the base that have been tampered with, including Captain Nero's here into flying shape." Before Nero could argue, she leveled a glare at him. "Captain Nero, you'll be requisitioned one of our Vipers. Don't do anything to it besides fly it back to the base. I have to contact Commander Adama."
They all watched as Sheba turned and left them, striding across the bay with purpose. It was a miracle that she hadn't thrown Nero in the brig just on principle. And from the look on Gher's face, he wished she had. He grumbled to himself as he left the group and after a brief pause, Nero followed him. He knew he was outnumbered and evidently had thought better than to say anything else as Logan had merely raised her brow at him and crossed her arms over her chest in expectation.
**************
A short distance away, the techs were boarding the shuttle for transport to the base. They all talked excitedly amongst themselves, wanting to get there and see this time displacement technology for themselves.
All but one straggler, who peered across at the small knot of Warriors. Comeek sneered as he watched them. He had a hard time not focusing on just Logan, but he was becoming agitated by this new lieutenant and his proximity to the captain. There was something going on there. He had seen their exchange after Logan's crash landing.
The personal nature of it. Something must be done. Plwel was going to have to be eliminated.
With that happy thought lodged in his brain, and the myriad ways in which it could be accomplished to make Logan's suffering even greater, he followed the other techs onboard.

Skyler looked over the historical data he had on the attack on the Colonies. The images of the Battlestars at Cimtar before the attack were scattered on the table, information on the strength of the Fleet, available Vipers and the location of other ships, Gunstars etc. He even had access to the information from Apollo and Zac’s Flight … Zac’s last flight; he knew the location of the Cylon Fighter Phalanxes that would destroy the massed Fleet. He tapped a few buttons and opened the information they had captured out of Cylon Databanks over the yarhens on the exact location of the Basestars that launched the attack on the civilian population of the colonies, attack codes and plans.
Part one of the plan, put a lid on Baltar so he couldn’t warn his chrome plated friends of any changes. With the attack codes and Cylon databanks, they could recreate his part of the plan and make it look like all was going as it did….
Part two was a multi prong attack, defend the colonies from destruction by attacking the Basestars before they can launch, turn the surprise on them and having the fleet spread out and engaging the fighters to prevent them from coming to the aid of the Basestars.
Part three, begin to crush the Cylon War machine. From the captured data, they knew they had been closer to defeating the Cylons than they had thought. That was why the Cylons used the peace conference as a ruse to crush the Humans, but was unable to track down and destroy a lone Battlestar and its rag tag fleet. They didn’t have the resources to do it, they were spread to thin, and now we have the knowledge to bring them to their mechanical knees and peace once and for all.

As Commander Sheba walked away, Lt. Plwel turned towards Capt. Logan and said.."Captain, I am off to my ship....my pre-flight should already be completed by the ground crew and I will be waiting for your order to launch. I will check on the shuttle passengers and crew on my way over to make sure they are secured in and ready to go as well. Are you sure ma'am you are ready to get back into the air so soon?" As Plwel continued, and he found himself alone with Logan for a moment with nobody paying attention, he thought it was his turn now to give her a comforting touch by taking her hand in his as he continued looking deep into her eyes..."I mean......you did just go through quite an ordeal...both in the air, and here on the flight deck....ma'am.".....

Logan looked down at where Plwel held her hand and then back up as she gently extricated herself from his touch. She needed to focus now. "I appreciate the concern, but I have a job to do. I doubt the Cylons will care if I've gone through anything if they decide to attack now."
She tried to give some levity to the moment as she couldn't help but bristle a bit at the implied weakness. "I'm a Warrior first, Plwel. And my duty to these people goes above any personal concerns. So, let's just hope Nero doesn't fiddle with the shuttle on his way to the Viper. Gher might kill him."
She smiled reassuringly as she led the way to the launch tubes. "Let's go. I'm sure they're ready and this mission isn't over by a long shot. If I know Skyler, he's up to his elbows in maps and plans by now and chomping at the bit to get started." "

Spinning, her head was spinning. Held in Artus' embrace, she instinctively wrapped her arms around Artus's neck and pulled him in closer, as his arms held her even tighter and closer than before. His lips brushed tenderly upon hers at first, then their kiss deepened with such an intensity, delivering moment after moment of pleasure. Persephone felt his warm breathe upon her cheeks, the slight nuzzle of his nose upon hers, as they continued spellbound in their kiss.
Finally, they came up for air, a lock of hair fell upon Artus' forehead, while the rest of his tousled dark blonde mane shone with a sheen in the bay's illumination. Holding her tight still, as she too didn't rush to let go of him, they simply stood, their faces barely a few centimeters apart, their lips still so close they could touch again. The blue of Artus's eyes entranced Persephone, as he gazed steadily into hers. She could feel his thoughts running through her like an electric current. Her heart was racing, she could feel his heart doing the same.
Someone watched from a distance with disbelief in his eyes. How could she be with HIM?, he wondered. He felt his heart breaking into a million fragments, but he couldn't do a thing about it.
A hand clapped upon Triton's shoulder from behind. "Come on buddy, we have to get back to the Callisto. The shuttle is waiting", came the voice of Eridanus. Triton took in a shallow breathe, barely unable to speak at what he was witnessing. Eridanus saw what Triton was looking at, and went quiet for a few microns before offering some sympathy. "Triton, there's nothing you can do. I know it must hurt real bad, but you have to face it, you've lost her."
Triton turned around at the flight sergeant. "To Artus?", Triton questioned with shock, looking as though he just had a knife go through him.
Letting out a deep sigh, "If that's who Persephone wants to be with, then you have to accept it", Eridanus replied.
"Never! He's one of the worst rogues on the Callisto, and can't be trusted for a centon. If Persephone gets involved with Artus, she may live to regret it, more than she has with me!"
"Triton, I know Lieutenant Artus is one smooth operator and a notorious Lothario in our squadron, but I don't think Persephone is naive in that matter. She's known him from the past, and from what I've heard from a few guys in our squadron who know him a little more than you and I do, Artus may not be just interested in her for one thing only."
"What?!" Triton spun around to face the tall sergeant. "Are you telling me that Artus might actually care for Persephone?! You've got to be fracking out of your mind to think that, Erid! He's only interested in her so that he put another notch in his holster, and then move on to the next!"
Erid put up his hands in a defensive gesture, "Hey, don't shoot the messenger, I'm just telling you how I see it and what I have heard, buddy. She's a big girl and can look after herself. Look at how she just commanded the wing she flew in today, while they escorted the Callisto. And they weren't even all our own home squad, but comprised of pilots of a different squadron and from the PAST, who, might I add, are not all too fond of being lead by our female warriors! And don't forget how she kicks the felgercarb out of Cylons during combat. Persephone has become one of our top pilots. And after the way she shot you down earlier today, I don't think she'd have any qualms about doing the same to Artus if he ever pulled anything on her".
"But she's vulnerable right now, Erid. I know I hurt her, and she might be just doing this with Artus to get back at me or something...on the rebound. What if Artus is just moving in for the kill now that he knows she's broken up with me? "
"Triton...you do nothing. You're not Persephone's keeper. If you want to drive her further away from you, then just keep on doing what you're doing, and you'll loose any shred of a chance that's left in winning her back, FOR GOOD!".
Triton hung his head and stared down at the bay's floor, in frustration at the matter. He sighed heavily, closing his eyes for a micron.
"C'mon, it's time to go". Eridanus reminded him. Putting his hand on Triton's shoulder, he encouraged him to forget about Persephone and Artus for the time being and return to his duties. The two warriors headed for the Callisto shuttle waiting to return pilots that had flown vipers down to the base, but who weren't assigned to stay down there.

As Plwel sat down in his Viper and put on his helmet, he thought about how cold Logan had been to him just a couple of centons before. It was like she wanted him, but then, whenever he approached her, she seemed to push away from him. "I don't know anymore." Plwel thought to himself as the canopy lowered and locked in place. "She has quite a wall built up that I don't know if I will EVER be able to break. Someone or something must have done quite a number on her in the past to make her so closed inside. Perhaps she just doesn't want to let anyone in and maybe I am just wasting my time....but I don't want to.....I can't just let it go...." Plwel's thoughts continued on as he heard of the Comm channel..."Gold two, you are cleared for launch...Launch when ready."
With that, Plwel concentrated his attention where it needed to be and hit his turbo button racing him down the launch tube back into the air. "I will find a way to get her to break down that wall and let me in." Bouri said softly to himself as he met up with Capt Logan, Capt Nero and the shuttle and took his place in the escort formation to the wing leader's left. Hi glanced over to Logan's Viper and could see the contour of her face through the opening of her helmet. She looked strait ahead and was all business as usual. Plwel just chuckled to himself and continued on course as the headed back to the ground base..........

"I have to check over my viper, make sure it's in perfect condition". Persephone let go of Artus, and was about to walk off toward her fighter, when Artus grabbed on to her arm and pulled her back into his arms.
"Not before this...", leaning in once more, he was about to kiss her again, but she pulled back her head, clasping upon his hands around her. Her mouth turned up in a grin, and her eyes twinkled at him, "I really have to check my viper, Artus, I think we've lingered here much too long".
The look on his face challenged hers. "Playing hard to get now, Pers"?
"Is that what you think I'm doing?", she replied, with a subtle hint of playfulness in her voice, as she began to walk away.
Artus put his hands on his hips, watching her, then raised one hand to rub the bristles on his chin, his fingers then spanning the contour of his trimmed beard around his jaw line, in contemplation.
"Need any help checking your viper then?"
She waved a hand as she kept heading across the bay toward her craft, " Not unless you want to tear out all of the heavy felgercarb from my ship and dump it into my hands again. That's reeee-al romantic!" she finished with a sarcastic tone.
"Well, all you have to do is ask!", Artus retorted back, and strode off to catch up with her.
Persephone's thoughts suddenly turned to Chiron. She remembered that electronic key was still in her viper's small personal compartment. She had placed it there, when she was first assigned to her viper. A sort of good luck talisman, and a reminder of someone she once loved. The last thing she and Chiron shared. It was the key to a private suite on the Rising Star that would have served as their living quarters for after they were sealed. But that all changed, when Cylons broke into the Fleet boundary in a sneak attack over two yahren ago, and destroyed the shuttle Chiron was on that day, as he was being transported between ships.
The pain of loosing him never left her entirely. She wondered if she could perhaps be able to find him again, but he wouldn't even know who she is in the past. That would be the most difficult thing to process. She had loved him deeply, but now things were different, she still had a haunting desire to find him once more. If only to just see him once more. She knew she couldn't change what had happened, and now something was going on with her and Artus. She had to admit to herself, as she watched him crossing the bay to join her, she felt something for him. Perhaps she always felt this way for him, but it just didn't have a chance to evolve until now. What was once background, had now leaped into the foreground of her thoughts and feelings. Did he feel something for her too, or was Artus just chasing her like he did with many a female? He stared right at her as he came closer to her viper, no, she further contemplated, there is something else in his eyes now, something deeper, she didn't know how she knew this, she just did. She could barely lie to herself anymore, but she felt a deeper connection to him too, and sooner or later she would have to stop denying what she now felt.

Jumping the last few feet down to the deck, Logan looked around and watched Nero and Plwel disembarking from their Vipers as well. There had been no problems on the trip back to the base, with little comm chatter, especially from Nero. He had answered status updates in clipped tones, but offered nothing further than basic responses. Which was fine with Logan. She was secretly anticipating the conversation to come and what Skyler and Apollo would say to him.
The shuttle's hatch was opening and the first of the techs coming out loaded down with equipment. They all seemed excited and looked around in awe. She saw that Ensign Edan and Ensign Guinevere were taking things in hand and already in conversation with the shuttle pilot. She assumed that Skyler had directed them to oversee the offloading of the Callisto's techs after they had reported in to him on the return from escorting the battlestars through the rift.
Nero and Plwel joined her by her Viper. "Alright, Captain Nero, you're with me. We have to check in with Commander Apollo. Lt. Plwel, give Ensign Edan a hand with directing the techs to the laboratories and displacement core. I'll join you after check in."
Plwel nodded, but she couldn't help noticing he had a strange look in his eyes. Furrowing her brow, she decided she'd have to have that talk with him after accompanying Nero to the control room. There were things he didn't understand. Things he couldn't without explanation. And she was still angry that he had disobeyed orders. It didn't seem to fit his character. She realized she was frowning and shook it off.
"After you, Captain," she said as they moved off towards the exit.
