As she climbed up the step platform to raise her canopy, bending over and checking inside, she could feel the presence Triton had left behind, having just flown her fighter down to the base. She heard his last words ringing in her head but she shook it off and opened the small personal compartment, near the control panel.
Artus approached Persephone's viper and stood, looking up at her, while she riffled around in her ship. He inhaled deeply and shook his head slightly, smiling, pleased with the view he had right at that centon. "This day just gets better and better...", he said softly to himself. Her hand reached into the small compartment and felt something that did not feel like the electronic key she had left in there. Pulling out the mysterious item, she twisted a small box between her fingers. "What are you looking for up there, Pers?", Artus shouted up at her. "Ahh, just giving a once over, that's all, so I won't have to worry about it later should we get called out for another scramble", she replied quickly.
Artus looked over her ship, and noticed something he wanted to take a closer peer at. Crouching under her ship's belly, he noticed the gear panels needed a little attention. "Hey, Pers, I'm going to get my tool kit, and be back in a flash!"
She straightened up once again as she retracted her head out of the viper cockpit. "What did you say?", but just as she had looked down on the ground for Artus, he had already headed off to his own viper. She frowned, thinking to herself, as she came back to the box in her hand. Opening it slowly, she found the diamond pendent that Triton had given her, the very one she gave back to him earlier this morning.
"What on Kobol?..." she said under her breathe.

Ensign Edan had enjoyed the silent ride back to the base, Ever since discuvering what Captain Nero had done to the Vipers, Edan had been waiting for a chance to vent a bit. But that chance never came. Upon landing, He directed Ensign Guinvere, who like wise hadn't said anything to keep the supplies moving off the shuttles. As It was revieled, These suttles contained supplies to begin upgrading as many of the base's Vipers as possible. ALot of the improvised improvements put into guinevere's Viper had been replaced with these parts as well. She was now flying a Viper that qualified as an Improved model. And Edan knew she had felt the difference. When she landed, even after such a routing flight, she couldn't contain her smile.
Edan was splitting his attention between this memory and directing a Tech where to place the latest box coming off the Shuttle when Guinevere spoke up.
"Ensign Edan, could I have a moment of your time." Her voice was strong, she had definately made up her mind about talking to him and wouldn't back down. Edan had sort of been waiting for this. It would probably be a defense of what Nero had done and that they had no choice but not to trust the Gold Squadron pilots.
"Certainly Ensign. What's on your mind?"
"Well, I want to apologise for what Captain Nero did on your first approach. I didn't want anything to do with it, but he ordered me to test the improvements. mine didn't work like they were supposed to, but he was sure he could take you. I was trapped. I felt wrong to be flying against another Viper, Even one as strange as your Scarlet Vipers."
"You did Good Ensign. If it hadn't been for the even more advanced Scarlet I was flying then, Captain Nero might have been able to take me. And you coming around on me would have worked. After all, it was my first mission in a Scarlet, or any Viper for that matter."
"Seriously? I thought you had been demoted down to Ensign. You're old enough to be a senior Lt or something. And the way you are able to take charge, You don't seem like any Ensign I've met yet."
"I spoent the last 15 Yahrens as a Security officer in our fleet. Have alot of experience taking charge of some situations and have never been affraid to do what needed to be done. But I just recently joined the Military. As I said, this is my first mission out of Training."
"Well, I just wanted to say I'm glad things seem to have worked out. And I'm also glad to be flying your wing. I'm pretty sure I'll stay assigned to you, since Captain Nero proabably won't be leading anything anymore."
"Ensign, if I can ask, why become aWarrior? It's common place for female warriors in my time. But here and now, it's rare. Had to be very tough on you."
Guinevere smiled. "yes, it is. and the male warriors here always think they have free reign to play pranks on me. But I just always felt the call to Fly. And Vipers have always interested me. I'm a damned good Shot with my laser, and I graduated the Areon Academy at the top of my class. It just feels right."
"Well then, I'm glad to have you on my wing Ensign." Edan smiled and indicated that she should get back to her Techs and make sure the Shuttle unloaded properly. And just then, Edan wondered what the future would have in store. He was going to check with Major Skyler about the possibility of having Guinevere transferred to the Callisto when the Battlestars moved out to intercept the Cylon forces. A smile crossed his face. The idea of ambushing the ambush was really growing on Edan. MNot only a chance to fight the Cylons, but to hold every advantage.
And to save his mother. Right now The Edan of this time was aboard the Astral Queen with his Father. Makign a routine prisoner transfer run. Would Edan seek out himself and meet him? should he?
questions for later.

Placing the lid quickly back on the small box, she stepped down from her viper. Deep in thought, and wondering why Triton placed the necklace in her viper at all, she wondered if she could catch him before he left on the shuttle to return to the Callisto. She had to give it back to him, and make it clear to him she was not interested in re -considering things between them.
Artus suddenly appeared under her viper, with his tool kit in hand.
"There you are. I wondered where you went to" she remarked.
"Miss me already? I said I was off to get my tools. Didn't you hear me? I noticed your gear panels need a little TLC".
"No...I didn't hear you". She held the box in one hand clenching it almost.
Artus pulled out a small canister of oil, he proceeded to inject some oil to her viper's gear panels exterior, However, he noticed something in her hand and her far away look on her face.
"What's that you got, Pers?", he asked curiously.
Glancing down at her hand, then back at Artus crouched under her viper, she replied, "Um...it's nothing."
He continued to inject the oil, wiping the excess off with a rag. He squinted, as he peered closer at anything else he thought he ought to check over, as he didn't have a lot of faith in the techs down on the base and certainly did not want them tampering with Persephone's fighter like they did with Logan's.
"So if it's nothing, why are you hiding it?"
She broke her gaze upon him, and looked directly into his questioning eyes. "I'm not hiding anything, just ....ah..."
Artus grinned, "Yeah, I guess you need to hold onto something....I mean I'd give you my.." he paused deliberately about to say something else but changed it to" ....one of my tools, but I was afraid you might fall forward from the weight again.....", his eyes full of mischief.
Persephone sighed and rolled her eyes at him. "I don't know, Artus....".
"Yeah you do...", he quipped back, in a deeper toned and assuring voice , as he finished wiping off the area he worked on with his rag, all the while flashing his smile at her, enjoying the new rapport between them. Standing to his full height again, as he came out from under her ship, and wiped his hands on a clean rag, he placed his tool kit down.
"Thanks for that", she said to him. Artus came closer to her, "No problem, Pers...got to look out for each other, especially with these butchers that are running around down here calling themselves maintenance and viper techs. Don't want to have another episode like with Logan's scarlet viper today". He then took the hand that she held the box in. Gently lifting her clenched fingers one by one, he took hold of the small box in his own hand and studied it.
"Did the Kobolmas Sprite come early this yahren and leave this for you?", he jibed but with all seriousness on his face. Artus wondered what she was being so mysterious about. "What?...ah, no...", she became nervous for some confounded reason.
"Then what is this?"
She stared at Artus and stayed silent for a further few microns, not knowing how to explain a valuable diamond pendant necklace. Artus began to lift the lid, but Persephone snatched it away from him. "It's just a silly lucky charm I keep with me, that's all..." Artus fixed his blue eyes on her. "Like your fluffy dice you have hanging in your viper....where on Caprica did you find them anyway?" She thought she diverted the question just in time.
"I have my sources.." he winked at her.
"Like where? The Ship of Novelties, Souvenirs and Party Tricks?", she quipped him now, as she folded her arms.
Artus moved his head swaying slightly to emphasize his retort back at her, "You know there may some things even you might like from that ship, Pers....something just perfect for.....", he raised his eyebrows at her, his eyes were now tens times full of playfulness then they were three centons ago.
"Artus!", she hushed him, reading his thoughts all too clear as a Nubian Sun.
He moved closer to her, and caressed tresses of her hair that had fell upon her forehead. His touch was always so sensual to her, and could make her come undone, if she didn't have some willpower. Her eyes closed for a moment, feeling the warmth of his hand.
"I have to speak to someone on the shuttle returning to the Callisto before it launches, Artus. I'll see you in a while."
"Trident again?" Persephone's mouth was slightly agape, while she stared back at Artus. "It's not what you're thinking. And it's Triton, you know that".
" I know he's a real wet blanket... but I'll be waiting". He picked up his tool kit off the ground. "Go ahead, you do what you have to do, Pers. Meet you with the others". Artus gave her nod and reassuring look. He really did care for her, more than she knew. Persephone returned the nod at him, and turned to walk across the bay to find Triton. She had to return the necklace to him once and for all. Her heart beat thinking of Artus. A smile spread across her face.

As they traversed the corridor, Logan's mind was reeling. She was thinking about Plwel and how their last interaction had played out. The sabotage to her ship by the man walking beside her who she wasn't sure she could trust. The immensity of the task before them all. And what would happen to the Fleet they left behind if their mission was successful.
Logan and Nero walked into the base's control room together. Apollo, Skyler and the older Kroll all looked up from the mission board they had been going over, plans marked on a stellar chart with troop deployments and sector grids.
"Captains, " Apollo intoned formally in greeting.
"How are you?, " Skyler asked Logan, a note of concern in his voice at the expression on her face.
"I have no idea what I'm doing, " she replied, shrugging her shoulders.
"So, same as usual." He hid the smirk behind the seriousness of the business at hand.
Nero looked between the two, but held his tongue. Apollo addressed him before anyone else could speak. "Captain Nero. I should have you locked up in the brig for the stunt you pulled. Your poor judgement could have resulted in the deaths of more than one of our finest Warriors."
Nero was biting his tongue and Logan could tell it took a lot for him to remain silent.
Apollo and Skyler exchanged a glance, the latter nodding.
"But we're going to need every available pilot and I assume you didn't get your rank solely based on your sabotage skills. So instead of the brig, you're going to get the most suitable punishment I can offer at this time. You're going to remain Captain Logan's wing."
Nero's eyes grew wide as he opened his mouth to argue, but was quickly cut off by Apollo. "This isn't up for debate, Captain!"
Logan took a sense of pleasure in Nero's obvious discomfort at the thought of having to take orders from her. Apollo eyed Logan and said, "Captain, if he causes you any trouble or refuses orders while in flight, you have permission to blow him out of the sky."
Logan knew she really wouldn't be allowed to do that, but the threat was enough to insure Nero stayed in line and she appreciated Apollo's confidence in her.
"Now, Captain Nero, I want you to report to the bay and make sure our Vipers are ready for launch. I have talked with both Commander Sheba and Colonel Starbuck. Our plans are a go. Your Commander Kroll has departed to take our warning to the Colonies and once our tech team has been settled, all available Vipers will launch for the Callisto. Captain Logan, check in on the techs in the main engineering section on your way to the bay. Then Major Skyler and I will meet you there. We're leaving Kalten in command here to await our return."
Nero and Logan both nodded and exited the room.

Lt. Plwel proceeded as he was directed by Capt Logan, and walked back across the bay towards the shuttle to direct the newly assigned techs to their assignment locations. He put all of his other thoughts aside for now knowing everything where Capt Logan was concerned would work itself out in due time either one way or another as guided by the Lords of Kobol. Plwel kept Ensign Edan's advice in the back of his head....'Just take it slow" he remembered Edan saying.
Just before reaching the shuttle, Bouri heard his name called from a distance..."Lt. Plwel?" As Plwel stopped and turned his head, he was again in the company of Lt. Elorian....his Green Squadron wing during the escort flight bringing the Callisto and Galactica through the rift. "Lt. Elorian....it is a pleasure to see you again. I was told about your dedicated duty to me acting as my wing cover as I assisted Capt Logan during her flight emergency. I didn't even know you were behind me. I assumed you stayed with the escort wing when I pulled off. Thank you very much Elorian for staying with me. I can assure you that Capt Logan is very grateful too. I will be recommending you to recieve a commendation for your dedicated service and actions." "It was my duty and pleasure Lt. Plwel." Elorian replied. "There is really no need to reward me for doing my job." Elorian went on with modesty. "It is great to see you again Lt. Plwel and thank you for letting me fly wing with you. I hope I get to do it again soon. I wish my unit had the comraderie, friendship and concern for each other the way your Squadron seems to share." Lt. Elorian shook Plwel's hand and excused himself as he went about his duties. Plwel smiled as he departed theinking he should check into having Elorian transferred to Gold Squadron if Capt Logan would agree.
Lt. Plwel continued on and reached the shuttle where technicians were already departing and unloading equipment to report to their individual assignments. Bouri observed that Ens. Edan had things well in hand directing the crews to their locations and decided not to interfere with his process. As the last of the tech came off, one of them them stopped and looked at Plwel with great interest. He then walk over to him and extended his hand when he began to speak.........

"Lt. Plwel? I'm Crewman Stark. I just wanted to say it is an honor to be here working with the team on such an important mission." The crewman shook hands with Plwel, rearranging the stack of data pads balanced precariously in the crook of his other arm. He stood eye to eye with the lieutenant as they were of the same height. Stark had his cap pulled low over his forehead, stray strands of mousey brown hair sticking out at random angles.
"Pleased to meet you, Stark. You clear on your assignment?"
The tech seemed to bristle, but then it passed and he nodded eagerly. "Oh, yes, sir. I'm heading to engineering right now."
The tech looked around before adding, " I noticed earlier that you seem friendly with Captain Logan. Watch your back with that one, " he said, winking conspiratorially.
Plwel frowned and took a minute before responding. "What do you mean?"
"Oh nothing. Just...I've heard things. Stories. She's a mean one."
Plewl almost laughed as the tech started to move off, muttering something about getting about his business.

Logan stood outside the door to Engineering as the techs started to filter in, some lugging large crates of equipment. A few dashed by her out the door to retrieve things from the shuttle.
She had parted with Nero silently down the corridor as he headed towards the bay. Neither of them had spoken since leaving the control room. Which suited Logan just fine. She wasn't crazy about having him as her wingman, but Apollo had ordered it so she pledged to herself to make the best of it. And she hoped that after the dressing down by Starbuck, Sheba and Apollo, he had finally gotten the message.
Moving ahead, she began thinking about the next step of the plan. She and the other Warriors would return to the Callisto and move out for the Colonies. Skyler and Apollo hadn't gone into detail about their plans yet, but she had a feeling that whatever happened, the Cylons wouldn't be the only ones surprised.
Several tech crew were making their way down the corridor struggling with a crate. She moved off to help them, realizing that the sooner this stage of the mission were squared away, the sooner she could go to the bay. She still wanted to make sure that she and Plwel were on the same page. She had laid into him pretty hard back on the Callisto. And that was bothering her, more than she would like. She was realizing that at this point in the mission she didn't want any regrets. It would be hard enough to pull this off without second guessing herself.
"Need a hand?, " she asked the closest tech who was attempting to lift a corner of the crate with little success.
"That would be great, Captain."
Bending to help, they managed to lift it a few inches and maneuver it slowly towards the door. Once there, another tech came and relieved Logan of her burden. Resuming her post by the door, she bit her lip in concentration and watched the activity continue, trying to discern why she had this prickling anxiety gnawing at her.

Gold Two shuttle's engines were idling in the bay, humming serenly. Pilots that flew Gold assignment team's vipers down to the base for them were returning to the Callisto, to be at the ready to man their vipers, were now boarding the shuttle.
Sergeant Eridanus stood at the hatch taking count of the passengers.
He saw Persephone approaching, as she strode the bay's floor. He stopped marking the list off, as the last warrior embarked. "Persephone, what can I do for you?" he queried as she came to a stop in front of him.
"Erid, is Triton onboard already?"
"Yeah he is. He's doing the pre-flight for the shuttle. You'll find him in the cockpit."
"Thanks". She said quietly, about to step aboard, when Eridanus asked.
"Everything alright, Pers?"
"Fine Erid. I just need to speak to him before you launch".
The flight sergeant gave her a sympathetic look, as she turned and disappeared through the hatchway.
Warriors were seated and stared at her as she entered the shuttle and made her way up to the cockpit. Seeing Triton busy at the control's panel, checking the flight co-ordinates on his monitor in front of him, she paused behind him, before making her presence known.
For no reason, he glanced up and then again noticing her standing by the arm of his pilot's chair. They eyed each other for a few microns before one of them finally spoke. Quite frankly Triton didn't think he would see her again today, but he guessed she was here because she must have either found the necklace in her viper's personal compartment or maybe even had second thoughts about ending things with him. Whatever the reason, he was glad to see her.
"Ensign Triton, I think I have something that is yours." She was all business and following protocol. Her hand extended toward him and placed the box containing his mother's diamond pendant necklace, upon his control panel. His eyes looked down at it, then up at her again. The watery blue of his eyes seem to reflect a glaze from the panel's lighted up buttons. Suddenly she felt like someone had opened up his chest and revealed to her his breaking heart. Trying to blink away any tears that wanted to well up in her eyes, she breathed in hard and swallowed uncomfortably. She thought she would choke.
He simply stared at her. At last he said something. He glanced at the wall of the shuttle opposite him, staring now into space. "I just wanted to keep you safe. When you wore it, it always did protect you, just like it did for my mother".
"Triton....I can't keep it. Things are different now...you have to accept it".
"Why should I, Pers? I made one mistake, can't you find in your heart to forgive me and give me a second chance?"
She lowered her head and shook it from side to side, "No Triton, it just isn't working between us. I told you, I can't be with someone who doesn't trust in me..."
Triton interrupted, standing up from his seat, "I can change, just give me a chance, please, Pers, we had something very special..."
He took her hand, but she pulled it away as quickly as he had reached for her. In hushed tones, she responded back, " Listen to me Triton. It's over. We can never go back to what we once shared. I can't."
Triton wanted to take her in his arms, but the wall she now put up around her told him not to take a step closer. Her eyes sent all sorts of conflicting messages, and yet she seemed entirely resolved to end things with him. The other warriors looked at them from their seats.
"I have to go now."
As she turned to walk out of the shuttle, Triton raised an arm up as though to reach out to her while his mouth opened to say something to change her mind, but she had left so quickly, he was left standing not able to run after her, as they were about ready to launch, and she had her duty to get back to, and he dared not to do anything to rile Major Sklyer again.
Persephone flew out of the hatch, her own heart not knowing how to deal with all the emotions flooding her now, she had loved him once, and the sting of that love being shot out of an airlock stabbed her within. She knew she was doing the right thing, by ending it. They had to. She would always feel Skyler would be watching them, if they didn't end their relationship. Besides, she realized now how Triton was unable to balance personal feelings and professional behaviour. At least Artus showed her he wasn't oppressing her if she spoke with other men on the job or other. She felt a distinct trust he had in her. Artus seemed to be able to handle both sides of a possible relationship, despite what other people might have said about him.

Plwel frowned and took a minute before responding. "What do you mean?"
"Oh nothing. Just...I've heard things. Stories. She's a mean one."
Plewl almost laughed as the tech started to move off, muttering something about getting about his business.
But at that moment, Bouri re-thought what Crewman Stark had just said to him and the humerous expression on the Lieutenant's face started to transform into an expression of question and slight doubt about what he thought he understood about Capt Logan. Plwel continued to watch as Stark headed off carrying some tools and equipment he needed for his work. Plwel made the decision to find out more about what Stark was talking about, and the next thing he knew, he was running after Stark yelling...."Crewman Stark!! hold on a micron....let me help you carry some of the equipment." "You don't need to do that sir....I am sure you are very busy." Stark replied. "No, it is my pleasure to assist you." Plwel concluded. Lt. Plwel then proceeded to take from Stark a medium sizes tool chest and a shoulder bag full of spare parts and electronics. As the two men continued walking, they made small talk discussing various things from the Callisto to there observations and thoughts about the mission they were on and the base the planetary base they were now on.
As they got more comfortable with each other and got to know a little bit about one another, Plwel decided to re-address Stark's earlier comment...."So Stark, what exactly do you mean by what you told me earlier about Capt Logan? I guess it is no real secret to any keen observer that I am taken by her and really want to develop a long lasting realationship with her. Stark, between you and I, I would almost dare say that I am falling in love with her. There is just something about her that I can't imagine her not being a permanent part of my life. I would do anything for her." Plwel stopped walking for a moment and looked at Stark square in the face and continued..."I know she can be a little rough from time-to-time, but I have never seen her to be down right mean. Do you know something that I don"t? Please tell me." Stark looked around the area to see if anyone was in the immediate area. When he observed the area was clear, and he and Lt. Plwel were alone, Stark began to say..................

Realizing suddenly where they were, she pushed away from him and straightened her uniform jacket. "Well....I...I think that's all I had to say, Lt."
Capt Logan barely had enough time to finish her statement when Lt Plwel this time immediately reached across to her, putting his had behind her neck, and drawing her back to him. Without resistance, Logan came back to him where their lips passionately met again, and the intimate connection she was fighting away against Plwel melted away in his embrace. It seemed like they were there in that moment for yahens, but really only lasted microns. Capt. Logan again pulled herself away and looked at Plwel as she quickly ran her fingers through her hair. Once it was back in place she reiterrated....."Lieutenant, we REALLY must get to the bay and prepare for launch...we can pick up this discussion again later." Althought Bouri still wasn't sure WHY what just happened happed all of a sudden, who was he to question the judgement of his superior officer. As he adjusted himself before they continued on down the corridor, Lt. Plwel responded to Capt Logan......"Well Captain, thank you for coming back to finish your discussion with me. I appreciate you following up and completeing your mentorship with me. I understand every word you have said, and say to you again ma'am like I did when I was first spoke with you about this situation. I will ALWAYS respect you and support you as my superior officer and obey your orders without question like any other superior officer. As I know you will not let your personal feelings interfere with your professional decisions, I promise you again that I will extend you and every member of Gold Squadron that same dedication as I have done so far. But I will still always be concerned for your safety and well being.....regardless if you are able to handle it or not.....it is all part of careing about someone."
A proud expression came over Logan's face as Plwel retorted with his comments for she knew now that he understood her and that hes still willing to accept her. But then her expression turned into a look of surprise as Plwel's tone and body language changed from a formal stance and tone to a more relaxed personal state. She watched, while he continuously looked her in the eyes, he reached up and removed the rank insignias from his brown jacket and then took off his jacket and laid it over the railing. She was in awe as Plwel then reached up and pulled her jacket back from her form...off her body and laid it next to his on the railing as well. She immediately understood the sybolism he was expressing to her of his ability to seperate the professional from the personal. As he took her by the hand, and pressed it against his chest over his heart, he said to her as she felt his beat........"And I Bouri, swear to you.....Anya.....that I will never betray the emotional trust that you have placed in me with your heart......for it is a fragile flower that I could never destroy as long as I live. I swear i will not make you regret making me a part of your life" Logan's eyes got larger the the moons of Virgon as she heard her first given name spoken by Plwel.....a name not known to or ever spoken by anyone since she was a child and certainly not stored in any Colonial database anywhere. She was only known as Logan. On top of that, Logan observed this was the very first time that Plwel had not referred to her as Captain or ma'am. He was truly speaking on a personal level from his heart.......her eyes started to get glassy as she looked at him in amazement.................
