Pacing the floor in the corridor now, Triton glanced down at his chrono for the hundredth time in the last centare. Deciding he would give the waiting away, he was about to make his way up to the med lab to find out what was taking so long for Persephone to return to her quarters. His hunger was now long gone, after missing meal period for the second time today. He didn't care though about himself at this centon, all he was concerned about was his girl.
Suddenly his personal comm beeped. Startled, Triton stopped in his tracks and looked at the device. A message read :
"Lieutenant Triton to report to the Commander's quarters in five centons".
His brow slightly furrowed, his blue eyes darted about the area around him, wondering, what does the Commander want with me?, he thought. He knew he didn't have time to make it up to med lab, and arrive at Sheba's office all in five centons. He sighed wearily, perplexed at the message.
He soon found himself making a 360ยบ turn and heading for the Commander's quarters. Weaving through the Callisto's maze like hallways and passages from one section of the Battlestar to the next, he strided hastily, brushing past other warriors and blue clad uniform officer personnel. The corridor entrance to the Commander's quarters broadened, signifying he was now here.
Stopping outside Sheba's door, he pressed the buzzer.
"Enter", he heard the reply come from the other side of the door.
The door slid open and Triton appeared before Sheba's desk, standing tall and arms at his side, at attention. She sat at her desk, with a list in front of her.
Sheba looked up to greet Triton. "Lieutenant Triton, thank you for coming so promptly".
"I came as soon as I received your message, Commander", Triton replied respectfully.
"You always were dependable, for as long as I've known you Triton." Sheba gave him a comforting smile. Triton returned a subtle smile.
"I've just returned from the med lab a few centons ago, lieutenant. I'm sure you are well aware the prisoner transfer team from Gold Squadron were ordered to report for physical check ups after their ordeal today".
"Yes Ma'am. I am aware of their return to the Callisto."
"Good". Sheba replied as she rose form her chair and stood. "Thought you might like to know they're resting now in their bio beds, getting a good night's rest before tomorrow's assignment. So if you were were wondering where a certain Lieutenant Persephone had gotten to, as I assumed you might have been awaiting her return to her quarters, then no need to be concerned, Triton".
Sheba paused before finishing with, "She's fine, Triton".
Triton met Sheba's gaze and her reassuring smile. He let out a quiet sigh of relief upon hearing the good news from the Commander. "As is the rest of the team", Sheba added as she now walked out from behind her desk and stood before the lieutenant.
"The reason I've asked you to report to me is that I want you to accompany the team I've assembled to search for missing Captain Amy. The small team consists of Captain Logan, Captain Brik, Lieutenant Hush and...", Sheba lowered her head slightly, while fixing her eyes on Triton to watch for his reaction upon the last name she would list, " ....and Lieutenant Persephone".

Captain Brik ("sheesh, now a CAPTAIN" he thought) paused for a moment before reaching for Logan's hand and giving it an affectionate shake. She looked at him and he saw his own fatigue, dismay, frustration and confusion mirrored in her face. Words, it seemed, were not needed yet and he stretched out on his bio bed before showering in the medlab facilities, alone with his thoughts.
Ok...Captain Amy was missing and the Major was lost and (he guessed) presumed dead. It was an absolute certainty that Skyler was doing the work of the whole squadron in looking for her. He almost smiled as he thought about how the team had restrained him (barely) during Brie's trial. So this clandestine team was being formed to look for Amy. Well, he felt no need to pore over the issue until tomorrow's briefing so he put it aside for the moment.
he glanced briefly at the remainder of the team. The new Lieutenant had proven herself admirably during the shuttle transfer fiasco, as did Hush. Logan...of course she had, that was her way. He had noticed the spark between Logan and Hush and hoped that they might be lucky enough to find some happiness together but it seemed far too soon for him to tell.
He sighed deeply, feeling anew the ache of his bones and spirit. Maybe a shower would help. So that's what he did.

Persephone felt uneasy spending the night in the med lab. She was often a creature of habit, and just wanted her own pillow and to sleep in her own bunk. I feel fine except for weariness, she thought to herself. Why are they making us take our sleep period in these bio beds? She watched Brik make his way to the med lab shower, he nodded and smiled as he passed by her. She acknowledged the newly appointed captain.
She would be proud to work along side these great warriors again tomorrow. But right now she really wanted to be sharing some downtime with Triton. Triton! Oh no, he must be wondering where in hades I am, she further thought.
Back in the Commander's quarters: " ....and Lieutenant Persephone", he heard the Commander finish saying.
He met Sheba's eyes, and found her to be almost waiting for his reaction at the last name on the team list assigned to search for Captain Amy. Triton simply kept an expressionless face so as to not give too much away of how he felt overjoyed to be assigned to work in the same team as Persephone.
"I chose you Lieutenant, for this assignment, because of your former background as a Protector. Commander Apollo recommended you highly to me, because of your excellent research and investigative skills, which I 'm sure will be of great help along with the skills of the rest of the group. Plus, your first assignment will give you a chance to show your ability to work in a team with your fellow warriors. I saw by your initiative today when you volunteered to help evacuate passengers off the Rising Star, that you are already a competent warrior well grounded in his duties".
Triton felt a great sense of pride hearing the Commander's confidence in him. He would also have to express his gratitude to his cousin, Commander Apollo, for giving him such a high recommendation to Sheba. He made a mental note of it.
This will be his opportunity to be initiated properly with Gold Squadron.
"I would be proud to work with this team, Ma'am. I am honored. When do we leave?"
"I knew you'd be happy to go on this assignement, Triton", Sheba said, while trying to hold back her grin in knowing Triton's true feelings about the pretty lieutenant. "You and the rest of the team will meet me in the conference area in 10 centares. There is one final member of your team who will meet you all there. This mission will be classified and anyone going will be undercover. No uniforms. No need to cause suspicious gossip among the citizens. Or give Amy an opportunity to slip away if she hears that Warriors are looking for her."" I'll give you the details of your cover and your starting place. Are there any questions?"
"No Ma'am. Sounds pretty straightforward. It's all understood." Triton was feeling buzzed and hungry now.
"Good. I'll see you in 10 centares lieutenant."
As Triton was about to turn to leave, Sheba said in her most official tone of voice as she was returning to her desk, "Oh ah.., and Lieutenant.."
"Yes Commander?" Triton responded.
"I can hear your stomach growling from over here. It sounds like a Boray who hasn't eaten anything in a secton".
Triton smiled at her, slightly embarrassed by the sounds he hadn't realized the Commander heard.
"I think the galley might still be open. Get yourself something to eat. You'll need the nourishment for tomorrow's duties".
"Yes Ma'am. I will".
"Released, Lieutenant".
Triton turned and walked toward the door which slid open once more for him. Sheba watched him as he disappeared through the doorway. As she returned to her chair, she smiled in an amused way, while shaking her head slightly letting out a gentle chuckle, remembering an old friend, from days before he signed up to be recruited on the Callisto. She felt sure Triton would be a fine warrior. Apollo was more than confident of Triton's warrior abilities. She knew he wouldn't let her down.
In a flash, Sheba found her thoughts wandering back to why the young new lieutenant's face seemed so familiar to her. Had she met her somewhere before on the fleets? Sheba brought up Persephone's profile on her computer. Reading over her former designation and education degrees, background, origin and family details, she stared at Persephone's features, unable to solve the mystery of the haunting feeling she knew her somehow.
On better acquaintance with the lieutenant , she might be able to figure it out one day. For now, she had other things on her mind.

Finishing his late meal, Triton took the last sip of his accompanying drink and thought of the assignment briefing Commander Sheba just gave him for tomorrow.
I'll be working along side Pers, he recapped in his thoughts. His eyes reflected his happiness in this matter, as he stood up and left the Officer's mess and returned to his quarters to get some sleep. He suddenly realized just how tired he really was. It had been a very long day for him too.
Persephone ate as much as she could from the meal they had brought in for her and her fellow team mates. She was hungry over two centares ago, but since she hadn't eaten all day, her stomach had shrunken from no food in it, and therefore she was unable to eat much at all. She did however enjoy the warm tea she asked for. It was soothing and calming.
Her right leg muscles in her thigh and calf now twinged from when she gave Vreemer a good stiff kick leaving him a feeling, no doubt, like as if she had stuck a colonial pin or two into him where it hurts. It brought a smile to herself, not about having inflicted such physical pain upon a person, but rather for knowing she really could hold her own in such a precarious situation.
What amazed her even more, was that she had the strength to have brought the grid lice down to the hard metal surface of the shuttle floor. Her short martial training, soon after she enlisted on the Callisto , had given her however brief, useful skills that obviously had been executed successfully in the moment of need. She would have to return to martial class again when she had the next chance. She felt she still need much more training. Persephone yawned behind her hand, it was almost 00 hundred centares with only a few centares left until the end of light cycle. She should get some sleep.

***Writer's Note - Forgive my delay in posting. I have had several family emergencies to deal with of late and they have sapped my creative juices. So, keep in mind I am writing with a severe case of writer's block at the moment and will attempt to do my best until things level off in RL. Thank you for your patience.****
Logan woke rested. The first time in a long time she could recall having slept soundly. The low level of activity in the Med Lab hadn't intruded on her slumber. She was sure she had been snoring loudly. In fact, she was also sure she had woken herself up with it.
Sitting up and taking stock of her surroundings, she saw Brik, Persephone and Hush all in various states of wakening. She had a sneaking suspicion her snoring had woken them as well. The sly smile on Hush's face almost confirmed it and she shook her head, raising her eyebrows as if daring him to voice the proof.
A nurse was in the corner doing paperwork, but there was no sign of Baris. She thought back to the night before and was a bit puzzled that they had been asked to spend the night in the Med Lab. She was assuming it was because of the trying nature of their last mission, or as Logan had taken to calling it in her mind, their last disaster.
She was still furious that Comeek had escaped and had hoped that the Commander would have had news on his capture. Part of her wanted to demand she be allowed back to the Prison Barge to search it single-handedly, digging through every nook and cranny until she found that bilge rat and shook him to death.
Then she remembered about Brie. She sighed heavily and brushed the hair from her eyes. Her mane of auburn hair was always a jumbled mess upon wakening. She slid her fingers through it and sat up straighter. The mission that Sheba had given them to find Amy and bring her home, and give her the news of Brie's death, lay before her and she was already going through a pre-mission planning session in her mind, a habit she had nurtured since graduating the Academy. Logan didn't like surprises and tried to plan ahead for every possible outcome.
She already had an idea where to start, but would have to wait until Sheba's briefing and the details of their cover before seeing if she and the Commander were on the same page.
She glanced at her fellow Warriors and their soulful looks mirrored her own thought processes. They all seemed resolved, but their hearts heavy at the loss of their CO and friend. And also ready to do something, anything, to find some resolution. Even if all they could do was bring another Warrior home.

A sudden loud snore reverberated in her ears, as it jolted her back to the waking life. Persephone's eyes were hard to open at first, having enjoyed a well deserved nights sleep, the bio- bed was surprisingly comfortable, or maybe she was just too tired to notice if it felt like a rock under her or not. All she knew was, she slept well, and knew it was now end of light cycle and the beginning of a new one. She looked across at where the loud snore had come from. Her wingman, Logan sat up now in her bed, awake, with an unbelievably untamed mane of hair. Again, she just wanted to help her out and offer her a brush.
Persephone smiled drowsily across at Logan, as her wingman returned the same.
"Good Morning Captain Logan", Persephone said quietly, as she noticed the others slowly waking too.
Then Pers' thoughts drifted to remembering her first CO. Why? she seemed to ask the very Infinite Whisper that pervades all life and every moment and corner of the universe, would it allow Brie to be taken so suddenly and without a just reason. She was still young, with her life still ahead of her. It just didn't make sense. But then nor did Chiron's untimely death. Persephone was conscious of how she must have had a haunted look in her eyes at that centon.
