With a bright flash the C.O.R.A. drone was launched from the Callisto. It flew at top speed to the location where Dolet was still towing the mysterious Viper.
"Allright Dolet, you did very well." Geenie said over te communicator.
"Now slow down a little as the drone will be able to attach itself better that way."
Meanwhile inside the Gold Squadron Viper the unknown pilot opened up one eye. For just a momant it seemed to stare into space as the pilot muttered something.
"Ugn. Ketch... Ugnm"
The eye closed again as the pilot fell back into his comatose state.

With the Commander monitoring the rescue effort, Major Lucian turned his attention back to the periodic energy blips at the edge of the screen. With both Commanders having echoed his suspicion that the Cylons were behind the surges, he moved back over to a monitor and watched. On a second monitor, he had the Tech replay the previous periodic blips, and then try to see if there was any way to predict the location or timing of the next based on those. "No, Sir. It's a little too random so far, but if we see they blip in and out again, we'll add that information to the database so we might be able to predict the next one."
Lucian shook his head slowly and thought, "If this is what we think it is, eventually that blip won't just disappear."

Continued from my post on Ch 28 LL, Visitors
The first thing I noticed upon awakening from my drunken stupor, was my face being mashed against something. I try to raise my head away from whatever it was but it wasn't co-operating. I try to roll to one side and that worked. With a "THUD" my head hits the floor. I lie there a moment noticing a drool smear on the door. How becoming of the third in command of Gold Squadron. I groan in pain and abruptly feel something sharp in my side. I roll back the way I came and I feel where the sharp pain was and feel the handle of my cane in my side. Third in Command of Gold Squadron? Where did that come from? I remember Major Brie saying something about me being Gold Squadron's Third In Command. Then I remember she wanted reports of the goings-on of Gold Squadron.. Ugh!!! the pain of my hangover was terrible. I look around my quarters and look for a pain killer. I find one and take it. I make some coffee, shave and get in a turbo wash. Feels like yarhens since i had the chance to clean up. I vaguely remember Skyler coming to see Brie. I remember throwing up immediately after that. I turn white as I'm turbo-washing and get a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach. Oh no!!! Did I throw up on Skyler??? I rush through the rest of the turbo-wash and hunt for a clean uniform. I find one and put it on. I look in the mirror and like what I see. I put my sidearm on ,grab my cane, and make my way to the bridge to get the reports done. I get to the bridge and I immediately hear about the pilot getting towed in. And he/she was from Gold Squadron. I get the bay the pilot was being towed into and make my way as fast as I could hobble. Just as I get down there, I see a CORA drone launch. I haven't got a clue on what I could do to help, but I felt I had to be there.

"Pick up your speed a little" the commander was saying, "but don't kick turbos. We need both you and our mystery pilot back here in one piece."
"Yes Commander" Dolet replied. "Got a visual on the drone now."
"Allright Dolet, you did very well." Geenie said.
"Did?" Dolet joked. "Please, no past-tense references."
"Now slow down a little" Geenie continued, "as the drone will be able to attach itself better that way."
He felt the drone attach, and the drag on his viper that followed. "Drone attached, Callisto. I'm on final approach."

The war had lasted seven years.
Seven years of hardship and seven years of suffering.
But in the early days of the war, Maudred the wise had prophecised that a man would come, with no past and no future.
So we waited.
And we waited.
And in the seventh year of the war, a man did come.
But at first he was not what we had expected. This was not a strong and mighty king, skilled in the art of swordplay. It was just an ordinary man.
The only extraordinary thing about him being that he fell naked through the roof of Uthger's stable seemingly out of nowhere. He had no memory of who he was and how he got there or what his name might have been.
At first Uthger anted to drive him off his lands with his pitchfork, but Eleanora, Uthger's wife took pity upon the man. There was little Uthger could do to prevent her and his seven daugthers taking the man in.
And there he remained for another year, learning the ways of the Kambriki. It appeared that where he had no knowledge of our weapons, the man was indeed a warrior. He was agile and fast and quick to learn. Something Rurik the blacksmith found out as he scolded him on his poor swordplay too many times.
But then the day came that Maudred visited the village and took the man with him. The man had a destiny to fulfill, so Maudred claimed, and that was it.
So taking along his meager belongings the man with no name left with Maudred, much to the chagrin of Eleanora and her seven daugthers.

Skyler joined the assembled on the bridge. Sheba immediately noted his appearance and motioned him to the side.
“Skyler, when was the last time you slept?”… not giving him time to answer “Ate? Turbowashed?”
“This morning Ma’am..”
“Skyler, your uniform is in the worst state I have ever seen your uniform in, you have several days growth on your beard, you have dark circles under your eyes and it looks like you have lost some weight. Once we square away the mystery Viper and the strange energy blips, you are to report to your quarters for a turboshower and a shave. No more washing in the Life Stations restroom. You will then sleep for the best part of the cycle, in your bed in your quarters, not the chair by Brie’s bed, you will then put on a clean, pressed Uniform and shinned boots. I will have your stash in your duffle bag in Life Station cleaned and pressed and returned to your quarters so you don’t have to worry about it. Then you will report to the Mess Hall for chow. I might even join you to make sure you eat and entire meal. Afterwards, we can go check in on Brie. If her condition changes before then, you will be notified. Do we have a deal?”
Skyler ran his hand over the stubble on his chin ad glanced down at his wrinkled uniform and boots.
“Yes Ma’am, we have a deal.”
“Great, now we have a Viper being towed in, it has Gold Markings, and a Pilot that is our cold, minimal life signs, and long range scans have picked up something. We're not quite sure what it is yet, but Black Squadron is checking it out.”
“I will get a list of all Gold Squadron Warriors MIA or KIA/BNR and see if we can figure it out before they land. I will also have Gold Squadron’s Alpha Flight on launch status and Bravo Flight on ready status, just in case.”

It was said that Maudred walked the land together with the man, showing him our ways and teaching him the names and places of things.
It was also said that the man was not interested in the names and places of things, but only in the names and places of food, drink and women.
But Maudred endured this, for he knew the man had a destiny to fulfill.
After they had visited seven of our villages however, Maudres grew tired. He asked the man how someone who had a destiny to be so great could bother with such worldly things.
It is said that the man only smiled, and then said that nobody could be great without bothering about such wordly things.
Enlightened by his wisdom, Maudred begged the man forgiveness for doubting him.
The man smiled again, adding that he could not forgive if there had been no offense. And in his eyes no offence had been made.
And as destiny played it’s game upon the land, this was the moment that a great Gorash leaped from one of the nearby trees and fell upon Maudred.
The man pulled out the Kambriki sword that the Rurik blacksmith had forged and killed the Gorash before it could injure him. Amazed at the speed of the man, Maudred could only ask why the man had killed the Gorash.
Because, said the man, I thought it was going to kill you.

The Callisto grew larger and larger as Dolet bore in on the great ship, towing the mystery viper behind him. The drone, attached at the other end of the viper, gave Dolet twice the control he normally would have had. When he hit his braking flaps, the drone mimicked the move, giving him twice the reduction in speed. It didn't take long for Dolet to master it, for the sims had taught him well.
"Hope Major JustinB is watching" Dolet whispered to himself. "I might get the big LT for this one..."
He could make out the landing lights on the deck of the Callisto now. "Dolet to Callisto, I'm coming in. All systems show green."
"You're good to go, Dolet" replied a voice from the com. "Core systems confirms the green, flight deck Alpha."
"Alpha? Don't you mean Beta?" Dolet blurted out the joke before he could stop himself. So much for becoming a lieutenant... "I mean, affirmative Callisto, final approach on alpha deck..."
Dolet swooped in flawlessly, the mystery viper tucked in safely behind him. He came to a stop just short of the landing marker, but good enough. He could see emergency crews swarming in as he hit the canopy release on his viper.
Before he had a chance to hop down, he could hear the excited voices of the med techs.
"It's him, I swear it is!"
"Artus? It looks like him, but he looks older..."
"Can't be Artus. Artus is dead."
"Presumed dead."
"Well, this pilot is still alive, whoever he is."
"Rush him to medlab. Hurry!"
Dolet jumped down, and stood next to a flight deck crewman. "Everything okay?" he asked the crewman.
The crewman just shrugged. "Nice job bringing it in, Ensign."
Well, thought Dolet, it's not exactly a medal from your commanding officer, but... "Thanks. Glad somebody noticed."

Lucian breathed a sigh of relief when he saw the ships were safely on the deck in the landing bay. On the monitor, he could see the Med Team working to free the mystery pilot from the Viper. Knowing that they'd be bypassing the decontamination procedures, he hoped that this wasn't a Cylon trick after all. If they were to introduce a disease carrying human into the Fleet, it could potentially be far worse than the events leading up to the Fleet's arrival at Kobol so many yahrens ago. From what he'd read, if that virus had spread beyond the Warrior corps, mankind, between the effects of the disease and the attacks of the Cylons, might well have been lost. Here, Lucian thought, we're knowingly bypassing decontamination and possibly spreading a bug throughout the ship. It wasn't smart, but a Warrior's life was at stake. Maybe they could quarantine everyone who came in contact with him, but Lucian seriously doubted it....
Looking at Lieutenant Finky, Lucian ordered, "Tell them to get that Warrior to the Med Lab. Now!"

When next they came to a farmstead, Maudred saw that it had been attacked.
Soke was coming from the roof as the Tygran soldiers had set fire to it. Lying a few paces from the open fence was a man, beaten to death.
Inside the courtyard five Tygran soldiers were still having their way with two helpless women.
"This is our trouble that I wanted to show you," said Maudred; "come let us be on our way."
But the man said nothing.
He walked into the courtyard.
"Come with me, " Maudred cried out; "these soldiers will be sure to kill you too!"
But the man walked on, as if he had heard nothing.
One of the Tygran soldiers turned towards the man.
"Better listen to the old guy, there's nothing for you here!" he spoke.
But the man continued walking onto the courtyard.
"Hey, stranger, I'm talking to you!"the soldier added.
With that the man grabbed hold of the soldier's shield, yanking him out of balance. Using the momentum, the man flung the soldier into one of his comrades.
Making use of the confusion the man pulled out his sword and lopped off the head of the soldier that was forcing his way with one of the women. He then stabbed another one in the stomach.
The man quickly stepped to the two soldiers that had fallen against each other and kicked one in the face as he plunged his sword down into the others abdomen.
Twisting the blade to get it free, the man pulled it back and stabbed the other soldier, who was still reeling from the pain of the kick, straight through his heart.
The fifth soldier however, had quickly recovered his senses and was holding one of the women between him and the man. His dagger pointed at the woman's neck, where a small trickle of blood was already visible.
"What are you going to do now, stranger? You make one wrong move and I'll kill her!"
There was a tremendous look of surprise on the soldier's face, right before his body went limp. He fell to the side, releasing the woman and reveiling Maudred who had stabbed him in the back with his dagger.
"You know, "Maudred said; "if you keep rushing into things, you're going to get yourself killed one of these days..."
