"Understood, Ensign," replied Lucian, letting it go. He was sure the young ensign was quite disappointed, so to get Dolet's mind off of it, Lucian put him to work helping to fly the shuttle. "R1 to R2, we're out of the dust trail for the moment, so refueling time. Confirm position when ready."
Moments later, "Position acquired. Fuel port open, ready when you are," called Stadia.
"Okay, Dolet," said Lucian. "New skill time. We outfitted this shuttle with extra fuel tanks and a refueling boom for JustinB's Viper, and also, in case we needed to refuel during the search. Now, switch to channel 3 on that monitor, then use that swing out control stick in conjunction with the monitor images to extend the refueling boom and steer it to Stadia's fuel port." As he glanced back at the shuttle's controls, he surpressed a smile about the near ashen-faced young ensign. He called, "R2, stay steady. Dolet's extending the boom now."

I screamed and ran faster to see if my parents were alive. I sat there sobbing when I realised they were gone. I started to look around when all of a sudden... I was in a cold space with ten other recruits. The barracks in the Callisto Academy was not what I expected. We had just stood attention to roll call and I was eager to get on with training. We were issued uniforms and had ordered to attend the medical for a complete workup. As we walked along all I could think of was graduation and get on with killing cylons. My adoptive parents had tried to get the idea of revenging my parents out of my mind, but they finally accepted my feelings and tolerated them. The sight of some good looking medical staff was a slight distraction. We all thought we were immortal. But that all changed when we were shown images of the destruction of the Colonies. I felt as if I was that four yahren old boy sitting by a burnt out house. I wanted to leave but Jay stopped me. "Why did you stop me Jay" I asked. "Well, I wanted to leave as well you know. But knowing what you went through I thought as your friend by doing so we could get through this together."
We sat through five classes helping each other out and afterwards were once again in the barracks. "So if you graduate a warrior Jay, what Squadron will you join?" " I hear that Gold Squadron have some hot shot pilots." he replied. "What felgercarb Jay, I think those hot shots you are talking about are female." "You know me too well JustinB," Jay said with a smile.

Dolet concentrated hard on the task. This was no sim. No knowing in the back of your mind that you could blow it and everything would be okay. He appreciated the Major's confidence in him, but inside he was reeling. So much has happened in the short amount of time he'd been a black squadron warrior! Was he really worthy of the reputation he was building?
He was so singleminded on the refueling that he didn't notice the IFF signal that began to flash on a nearby monitor...

"Lucian, I have two incoming raiders on my scope. Do you see them?" She asked even though she knew the answer.
She shut off the valve to the refueling nozzle and slowly let go off the nozzle banking carefully away from the shuttle. she pushed a few buttons and was mentally ready for the worse.

Dolet heard Stadia's call as it came over the com: "Lucian, I have two incoming raiders on my scope. Do you see them?"
Oh frack. Oh frackohfrackohfrack...
He began to lose concentration on retracting the fuel line, and Lucian calmly stepped in to take over.
Dolet hit the com. "Stadia. I'm sorry I can't be out there..." He was voice was shaking slightly.
Lucian cut in, his voice steady. "Roger, Stadia. Looks like you'll have to go solo this time..."

Everything was a blur, I felt weak and disorientated. After a few centons I was conscious, but only just. I looked down on the instrument panel and I saw that my ship brought me out of my sleep. After shaking the cobwebs out of my head, I was able to surmise that two raiders had scanned in the general direction of my viper. In doing so it started the dehibernation sequence. By the time I had focused, I found out why. Somehow I must have knocked on my IFF transponder. I looked at my situation and it didn't look good. At current state of my power supply I had only a centar before I was out of power and air. I made what would be my last decision. I turned off the IFF and fired my engines. I was a warrior and I decided to die a warriors death. With just my passive scanners I picked up the raiders. They were heading towards three unidentified targets. If they were going to be attacked by the raiders, I would die trying to prevent them doing so. The facial hair which had grown on my face annoyed the frack out of me. Since I hadn't been level headed at the time, it came to me that the three unidentified targets could also be cylon. 'Frack, to late now. I am going to do what damage I can do before I die." I thought to myself. I trailed behind the raiders and came closer and closer slowly. In a few centons it would be on. The countdown to my death that was.

Dolet looked at the scanner again, and his eyes literally bugged out as he noticed something new. "Frack!" he said loudly. "Oh frack. Major, we've got another blip on the scanner! Another incoming ship."
"Another raider?" Lucian asked. Dolet shook his head rapidly. He couldn't tell for sure. Lucian put a hand on his shoulder, trying to calm him. "Relax, Ensign."
"It's just hard sir" Dolet replied. "I'd take this a lot better if I was out there. But with my viper gone..." He wondered if Stadia had spotted the latest ship on her scanner yet....

Lucian looked at the scanner then manipulated the controls to add JustinB's projected track based on the earlier scan when the possible ship had been detected on long range scan. They overlaid almost perfectly. Taking a chance, he said to Dolet, "Ensign, open a comm line and get me in touch with that ship."
"But, Sir, if it's Cylon?" Dolet started to ask.
"Ensign, if it's Cylon, we're dead anyway, but if it's JustinB, we might just make it through this little mess."
Dolet's face brightened as he started to set up the communication. "Ready, Sir!" he said a few moments later.
"JustinB, if that's you, old buddy, and you can hear this, you should be able to pick up on our IFF as you receive this message," said Lucian as he reactivated the transponder, "so if you want to go home with us, you might want to head this way. Stadia's just gone off to deal with two incoming tin-heads, and she'd probably be glad to have some help."

I was overjoyed at hearing that message. It gave me a boost of energy and clarity. "Wilco Lucian" was my reply as I kicked in my turbos to close in on the raiders.

"Wilco Lucian," came the reply over the comm unit.
"Thank the Lords!" thought Lucian as both Fallel and Dolet wore big grins and expressed their happiness at success in finding the lost Warrior. The shuttle continued on course, away from the Raiders, until the scanner indicated the JustinB had passed them some distance away. Then, Lucian brought it back around, back toward the upcoming dogfight.
"When this battle is over, JustinB will be out of fuel, and his air supply will be almost gone. We won't have much time," said Lucian. "Dolet, be ready to lower the lower cargo bay door on my command...."
