While on patrolling the rear of the fleet my mind turned to the brave souls that were on-board the cylon basestar. With what happened on the cylon moon and those new breed of cylons, I hoped they wouldn't come across any of those. With the rear of the fleet behind us, I planned to go further to make sure we wouldn't get snuck on by any cylon pursuit. As we went further, I decided I would plan to stop of at The Rising Star to see if I could get a new outfit for my dinner with Brie. As if Kris was reading my mind, she came over the comm. "Hey Major, what's this here I hear about you spending a bit of time with Major Brie of late?"
"Captain, it's all business. Just because we are in opposite squadrons it doesn't mean we can spend time with them." Kris understood that to mean that particular topic was not to be discussed again. "Lets just keep up this patrol so we can get back as soon as we can."

Brie woke up and stretched, surprisingly well rested. She sat on her bed for several moments, thinking. So much had happened lately! I need to figure out how to get out of this date with Justin she thought to herself, although she didn't really mean it.
Remembering that she had a message, Brie checked. Immediately she felt guilty, she realized that it was from Skyler. "Major, waiting on launch orders, see you when we return, take care," she read. Brie said a quick prayer for the mission team. Skyler, please forgive me... she mumbled to herself.
Next she checked on Amy's and Artus' conditions. There was no update for Amy, but she read that Artus was awake. After grabbing a quick turbowash and a clean uniform, she ran out to visit him. She wondered what he would say, he was the only other person who knew the truth about the shooting.

We were now at the last way-point on out patrol. There had been no sign of pursuit and no sign of those mysterious craft I had encountered before. Now it was almost over, my thoughts returned to my date with Brie. I wondered to myself whether I had applied any unnecessary pressure on her. During the patrol I had talked with Kris about what had been going on lately and telling her about my time lost with limited fuel in the tail of a comet.
Thinking back alot had happened in my short time as a warrior. So much so my hobby in past military hardware had been put on the backburner. My favourite ship apart from a Battlestar was the Aries Docks Tiger Class Destroyer. Its sleek shape was made better with the huge amount of weaponry it carried. I would have loved to have commanded a Tiger Class Destroyer, but unfortunately the last ones were destroyed in the Battle Of Molecay. But, commanding a squadron is good as it gets now. Analysing the events over the past yahrens, I did little other than breathing, eating, drinking as a warrior. Even though my hobby was military related it allowed me relax. Brie now had me thinking outside the square and for that I will always be grateful to her.
A few centars later the slower ships of the fleet appeared on my scanner.
"Kris, how do you feel about spending a centar on the Rising Star before returning to the Callisto?"
"Fine with me Major. Gives me a chance to catch up with some friends." she replied.
"Callisto this is Black Lead. No signs of cylon activity in our rear quadrant. Will proceed to Rising Star for centar at which time we will return to Callisto."

I had finally got what I come for. I handed over a handful of credits to the young woman who sold me an outfit to wear to my dinner with Brie. She gave me directions to a man who dealt in Caprican jewellery. I was on my way there when I rounded a corner and bumped into a female med tech.
"Sorry for that," I looked up and saw a familiar face. "Nylah, How are you?" I asked.
"I'm not too bad Major. What brings you here on The Rising Star?"
Not wanting to hurt her feelings with the truth, "Oh, I'm just here to start off my civillian clothing wardrobe. I have spent so much time in uniform that I decided to get myself some real clothes. Never know when I will need some."
"Oh ok. Well nice seeing you again Major, I have some tests I have to perform. I hope to see you again."
"Same here Nylah and it's Justin ok."
I went back to my task at hand. After about fifteen centons I found who I was looking for. After a good look and another handful of cubits later I found what I was looking for. With that all done I went back to my viper. Placing the items in the storage behind the seat, I placed on my helmet and closed the viper canopy. microns later I was back in space heading back to the Callisto with what I came for.

Brie left instructions with the med techs that she was to be informed of any changes with Artus. She also told them to take it easy on him. She then headed for the Callisto’s civilian living quarters. Finding the door she was looking for, she knocked. She could see some movement through the security peephole, then the door opened. Brie barely recognized the woman, who held her finger to her lips, then motioned for Brie to enter. Microns after the door closed behind her, a baby’s cry was heard. “I knew he was about to wake up. One centon, Brie. Have a seat.”
Kyla disappeared as Brie sat down. The young mother returned shortly, a bundle in her arms. “I’m glad you could stop by! Motherhood is wonderful, but I’m secluded for the time being. Here, you want to hold him?”
Without being given much of a choice Brie took the child. He was so small! Her mind flashed back to the only time she had held infant Amy. “I’ve only held a baby once before,” Brie said slowly. “I’m not very good at this.”
Kyla smiled at Brie. “He likes you, I can tell. He’s such a good baby, although so far all he does is sleep, eat, and, well, you know.”
Brie looked up at her friend, the woman who had saved her life on the Agro Ship. She had changed. Her physical appearance was quite different, her long blond hair was now short and dark, but it was more than that. There was a confidence that hadn’t been there before. “You look wonderful, Kyla.”
“It’s Kammy now,” Kyla corrected. “Legally and everything. According to the records, Kyla and her baby died in childbirth. Boleman doesn’t think there are many of Pierce’s people who haven’t been caught, but we don’t want to take any chances. Besides, the only reason I wore my hair like that was because Pierce liked it. How superficial!” A huge smile spread across her face. “And they’re going to do something about my eye! I’ll still be blind in it, but it won’t be so noticeable. Then I’ll be able to go out in public again.”
The baby in Brie’s arms stirred. “Maybe you’d better...”
“Okay,” Kammy said, taking back her son. She smiled, looking down on him. “What’s the matter, Baby T? You want to give poor Brie a hard time?” Kammy looked back at Brie. “We’re calling him T instead of Turner, although that’s still his name. The name shouldn’t cause any suspicion because it is fairly common, but still, why take a chance, right?” Kammy laughed. “Besides, I kept calling him ‘Baby Turner’ and Boleman said it sounded like he went around flipping babies. We both got a good laugh out of that one.” The baby still in her arms, Kammy say down. “So what’s up with you? I heard you had another legal problem, but Boleman couldn’t elaborate. Did everything work out okay?”
“Yeah,” Brie replied. “There was an accidental shooting, but everyone survived. I’ve returned to full active duty. And I can really only stay for a centon, I need to find some civilian clothes somewhere.”
“Boleman might be able to help with that. Why do you need them?” Kammy asked.
Brie looked away, embarrassed. “I have a date.”
“Really?” Kammy seemed extremely excited. “With who? Wait, let me guess, Major JustinB. Am I right?”
Brie was surprised. “Yeah, how did you know that?”
Kammy grinned. “Boleman has been teaching me to examine the facts. I know that when you were in the coma the two people who spent the most time at your side were Skyler and JustinB. But Skyler is your SIC, which would make a personal relationship difficult. So I figured that it must be Justin. Brie’s he’s really cute.”
“He’s really young,” Brie replied automatically.
Kammy sighed. “If two people care about each other, age shouldn’t make a difference.”
Brie grinned at Kammy. “You’re in love with Boleman, aren’t you?”
“I...” Kammy stammered with a slight nod. "I've never met anyone like him. He treats me like I matter, like I'm important. The age difference is huge, but I don't care. He's a great father, and we have so much fun together. I had forgotten what that could be like. I only wish that there was some way..." As if on cue, the door opened and Boleman entered the small quarters.

"Brie," Boleman exclaimed as soon as he entered. "It's good to see you free." He shook his head. "So they actually bought that crawlon story. Are you ever going to tell me what really happened?"
“Okay, the truth is...” Brie started slowly, “...that I hate crawlons. Nasty buggers. Artus is fine, in fact I just left him. He doesn‘t remember a thing. Thanks for helping out with that one. Now we’re even.”
“We’d be even, maybe, if I had actually done something,” Boleman commented. “So, what do you think of my new living arrangements? Cozy, huh?”
“It may be small, but it’s a whole lot better than what you had on the Galactica,” Brie said.
Boleman shared a glance and quick smile with Kammy. “I couldn’t agree with you more.”
“Brie has a date,” Kammy threw in. “She needs your help.”
“A date...” Boleman teased. “Let me think...Major JustinB?”
“Am I that transparent?” Brie wanted to know.
“You move in small circles,” Boleman explained. “Knowing you and your standards, I figure it couldn’t be someone from Gold Squadron, and Justin spent a lot of time by your side when you were in the coma. He's the obvious guess.”
“She needs some civilian clothes,” Kammy added.
Boleman grinned. “I can help you with that. Follow me, Major.” Boleman went into one of the two small rooms in the back. Brie and Kammy, holding her child, followed. Boleman opened his closet, half of it was filled with women’s clothes.
Brie stared for several microns. “Boleman, how exactly do you spend your free time lately...”
“They were Trula’s,” he immediately explained. “Because of the positions that we held on the Galactica we sometimes had to attend formal or semi-formal functions. I had no idea what to do with all this stuff. You’re about the same size, you can have them if you want them.”
“But shouldn’t Ky...I mean Kammy...”
“No,” Kammy interrupted, “they’d require too much altering. So take them. Where are you and Justin going?”
“Starliner Alpha,” Brie replied.
“Ohh, nice,” Kammy said. “They had a special on the renovations on IFB.” She handed the baby to Boleman, then riffled through the closet. “Try this one, it would be perfect.”
Brie shook her head as she looked at the black dress. It was simple, yet elegant. “I don’t know, it’s a little, um, low-cut for me.”
Kammy pulled something else out of the closet. “It comes with a wrap.” She stared right at Brie. “You would look great but Brie, don’t do it for Justin. Do it for yourself. Oh, and shoes. Combat boots just won’t cut it for this.” Kammy picked up a pair of shoes from the closet floor. They were the highest heels that Brie had ever seen.
“If I wore those, I’d end up back on sick leave.” Brie was quiet for a micron. “They look like something Amy would like, and her mother would hate.”
“Then they’re Amy’s,” Boleman said. “Something special for when she’s back on her feet, literally. I’ll have all this stuff packed up and sent to your quarters, Brie. And we’re still not even.”
The baby started to cry. “Looks like T is hungry. I’ll be right back.” Kammy took the baby from Boleman and left the room. The door closed automatically behind her.
Brie shook her head. “Wearing the clothes of the woman who helped murder my husband on my first date since he died. Turner would have appreciated the irony.”
“And Trula would hate it.” Boleman lowered his voice. “Just so you know, I had Pierce’s files shipped to me. I made sure those pictures were destroyed.”
“Thanks.” Brie paused again, remembering something the demon had said to her. “Do you think that Pierce is really dead?”
“Yes!” Boleman said quickly. “He died a coward, but he’s really gone. I know that there weren’t a whole lot of traces of him left, but it wasn’t exactly a pretty way to die. I’d stake my life and my family on it.”
Brie grinned. “You’re in love with her, aren’t you?”
Boleman looked at the floor. “She’s so much younger than I am. But she’s the funniest, most special, most beautiful woman that I’ve ever laid my eyes on.”
“Tell her,” Brie advised. “Trust me on this. Tell Kammy how you feel.” She ginned again. “Then you’ll owe me even more. And now, I need to go.”

Blips on a screen. That's what they were. But they were so much more. I sat looking at the monitor, trying to make sense of what was happening down there. Vipers were holding a perimater around the ship and the fleet. And on that Cylon basestar, our soldiers were fighting...and dying...
I needed something to do, something that didn't require life and death thoughts. Then, it popped into my head. Something I remembered that came through my personal comm unit a while ago. Brie! I pulled out my comm unit and punched up the message. It was so siimple, "Charybdis, I"m sorry. Brie."
What could that mean? I decided it was high time to find out. I informed the bridge that I was heading to sick bay to see Major Brie...this had waited long enough...

About a centar after Brie returned to her quarters there was a knock on her door. True to his word, Boleman had packed up Trula's wardrobe and had it delivered. There was more than she had expected, three large boxes packed full. Brie thanked the men who had delivered it, then started to unpack everything. Upon opening the first box she found a note, along with a smaller box tucked inside. She picked up the note. "Brie, just so you know, everything was cleaned before it was shipped from the Galactica. Trula always took care of her things anyway, with the possible exception of her work uniforms, but I didn't include any of those. And I've been thinking long and hard about what you said. Boleman."
Brie picked up the smaller box and opened it. It was filled with curlers and other hair products. There was another note. "Brie, having gone short I don't need these anymore. I didn't know if you wanted them or not. And I've been thinking long and hard about what you said. Kammy."
"Those two are made for each other," Brie mumbled out loud. She started to look through the clothes. With the exception of her sealing gown, she couldn't remember ever owning civilian clothes. The only other time she hade even worn them had been when she had been pregnant, but those had been borrowed. Even as a young child the orphanage had uniforms. She held up the dress that Kammy had shown her and decided to try it on. She stared at herself in her mirror. "Trying to find out my age my...foot," she said, looking at herself from all angles.
"Wow. If you had worn that on our first date I would have proposed that night," a voice behind her said.
"I only went out with you that night to prove a point and make you suffer,” Brie reminded. She sat down on her bed, Turner sat next to her. “What are you doing here? I’m wide awake.”
Turner pretended to be upset. “You’re not happy to see me? Besides, you ever hear of daydreaming?”
“I’m always happy to see you,” Brie replied. “Just surprised, that’s all.”
“So you decided to go with the Black Squadron guy,” Turner commented. “I must say I’m a little bit surprised. I thought that you and your SIC were getting really close.”
“Yeah...well...” Brie stumbled. “There are so many complications when it comes to Skyler. I told him once that I want him to find someone else and I really meant it. But I also don’t want to hurt him. He’s been hurt a lot in the past, two engagements that haven’t led to a sealing, and sometimes I just wonder...” She stopped.
“If he picked the one person he knew he could never be with?”
“Yup.” Brie sighed. “And Justin is a great guy. He was really there for me when I needed a friend, and there’s...I feel really weird saying this to my dead husband.”
“It’s okay, Brie,” Turner said. “I’m not really here, remember?”
“Okay, there’s a very obvious attraction between Justin and me,” Brie explained. “Sometimes when we’re together I feel like the room is going to burst into flames.”
“It probably will if you wear that dress,” Turner teased.
“I can’t wear it,” Brie said quickly. “It shows too much skin.”
“Brie, it’s not that low-cut,” Turner informed her.
“That’s not really what I mean.” Brie pointed to her arm. “See, here’s the scar that I got from when Trula shot me.”
“Poetic justice,” Turner said.
“And here,” Brie said, pointing to her shoulder. “I got this one back on that mission where we first met Jorlan. And this one,” she pointed to her leg, “I don’t even know where I got that one anymore. But I can’t wear this dress, I’m just one big mass of scar tissue.”
Turner put his hand on top of Brie’s. “If you really like him, wear that dress.”

Brie stood up again and started to sort through the clothes. "I don't know what I'm going to do with all of this stuff. I guess I'll need some of it once I retire, but until then..."
"You, retire?" Turner laughed. "Come on, Brie, we both know that will never happen. It's not in your blood. You're going to keep fighting until you're with me."
"I don't know," Brie replied. "I've been doing a lot of thinking. But I'm not moving to the bridge, I promise you that." She picked up the shoes that Kammy had shown her. "I wonder how Amy's doing. Did you know that she and Charybdis are engaged...again?"
"What's going on with you and Charybdis these days?" Turner wanted to know. "The three of us used to be so close."
"I remember." Brie sighed. "I guess that too much felgercarb got in the way. I miss him, miss the way that things used to be. I sent him a note, telling him that I was sorry, but I'm scared that too much damage has been done to our friendship."
"Don't say it in a note," Turner said. "Say it in person."
Brie shook her head. "He's too busy. Besides, at least with the note I was making an effort. He hasn't bothered to do the same." She sat down again and watched as Turner disappeared. "I wish that things could be different."

I stood outside of Brie's door, I almost thought I heard some voices, well, Brie's voice anyways.
I punched the button to announce my arrival...I didn't have a clue as to what I was going to say to her...if she would even see me, that is...
