(Editor's note: The first post is taken from thread 36-Y, basically just to get this started...If you want a history lesson on Hawke, read threads 28-G, and 28-K,28-S, 28-DD ,28-KK and the tail end of 28-LL)
I happened to be in the simulator room checking on some paperwork for Major Brie when a new recruit came in and began a run in Simulator 3. It brought me back to thinking about my past. Since my strokes two yarhens ago, I was put into the position of acting third officer of Gold Squadron by Major Brie. I was flying for Gold Squadron. On one of the countless missions I went on,.I was shot down and captured by the Cylons about three yarhen ago. I was a "guest" aboard their basestar for several sectars. They performed horrible experiments on me and unbeknownst to me implanted a chip into my brain. I was returned to my ship and sent back to the Callisto. The Callisto picked me up and I was severely malnourished and dehydrated. When I was returned to duty the great Count Iblis took control of my body,or so I thought. He/they wanted me to assassinate Comanders Apollo and Sheba. "Iblis" told me (in my mind) that he wanted to exact revenge against them for what they did to him. I very nearly killed Commander Sheba. She had set me up and captured me after a two secton chase. The medical staff kept me severely sedated, under Commander Sheba's orders... After a brain scan they found the chip that was controlling me. They tried to remove it and succeded. But not before nearly killing me. I had three strokes while they were removing it. It had forever caused me to lose a majority of my motor skills, my speech had become impared and I had to walk with a cane for the rest of my life. My doctor grounded me. I thought my life was over. I became a depressed drunk for awhile, getting into fights, becoming beligerant to other officers...After a while of that,I went to Major Brie to tender my resignation. she wouldn't have it. She put me in the position of being the acting Third Officer for Gold Squadron. I basically was Major Brie's aide. I filled out paperwork, did the menial chores that she hadn't had the time to do.
"Cadet Karis in Viper Trainer 3, all systems are go for launch. Requesting orders."
I hobbled over to the control panel of the sim where Karis was and looked at the sim program he was in. I "bumped" a button or two and the sim started bucking wildly. 'Woa!!" I heard over the intercom. What I had done was forego the actual launch and went right into space into a Cylon battle. I laughed to myself and said "Welcome....to the..Callisto....kid..." and I hobbled away as the controller giggled and shook his head.

I'm in my office,at my desk filling out paperwork, when the door chimes. I clear my throat.."Come." I said. In walks Sergeant Winculas from Fleet Security. "Winny!!!!...What...are..you..doing..here.?.." I ask as I hug her. Winny and I have become close friends over the yarhen ever since the Borellian Nomen incident where I was assigned to Fleet Security. There was more than a few times I thought of becoming closer with her. But ever since Rose, I find it hard to get close to anybody. "Hey Hawke!!! "she says... "Last...I...heard...you...were...on...long..term..assignment...on.." "I've completed that assignment. I'm back on the Callisto for a bit." I gesture her to have a seat in front of my desk. She does so... "What..brings...you...here?" I ask. "You." she says. A look of surprise comes over my face. "Me? Why...?" I ask. She says " Well, I bring some good news. A friend of mine, Lieutenant Haidee, used to be a physical therapist before the colonies got attacked, and she has heard about you and your disabilities. She wants to help you. She kind of is an expert in your type of disability. She often worked with stroke victims. She says she can help you walk and talk normally again. She may also be able to get your reflexes back to the point where you can get into a cockpit again. How about it?" she asks. Wow... No longer walking with a cane. No longer thinking about what I have to say. But even better than that, I've been trying to get my reflexes back to the way they were in the cockpit. I've been failing miserably. Maybe with a bit of help... "Ok...I'll..do..it.." I say. "Good, she'll be here in 20 centons." I give her the "I think I've been railroaded" look.

Rose had been keeping to herself lately and staying out of the way mainly when she wasn't on duty or on a mission. When things didn't last long with the Major, Rose had backed off of the social scene for awhile until she started hanging out with Hawke before he even disappeared on her without warning at all. After Hawke disappeared on her, Rose didn't want to think about much other than work and keeping low on the radar so to speak rather than drawing a lot of attention to herself like she had once she had first came onboard the Callisto.
Rose had heard that Hawke reappeared and she was heading towards the office where he was reported to be in working on some things. She wanted to find out why he had left so suddenly and not bother telling her what was going on and why he had to leave so suddenly. Then there was the fact he hadn't even bothered to get in touch with her when he came back from where ever it was he had disappeared to either.
Rose nearly ran into a Fleet Security Officer coming out of the office where Hawke was located when she came up on the door. "Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt here. I can always come back later."

As Winny was leaving I caught a glimpse of Rose coming in. "Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt here. I can always come back later."
Rose and I had been close. She had been there during some very hard times in my life. We had a very passionate relationship.
Today was full of surprises... First Winny, now Rose. Wow. "It's...ok...Rose...Come...on..in.." I said. "What's...on...your...mind?" I asked with an extremely surprised look on my face. As soon as I said it, I knew...

Rose slowly made her way into the office was Hawke was sitting behind the desk. She had only heard threw the grape vine of sorts as to how bad Hawke was, but didn't realize just how bad things were until she saw him now for the first time since he had gotten back from where ever it was he had disappeared to all those months ago on her without warning.
Rose sat down in one of the chairs that was on the oposite side of the desk from where Hawke was sitting currently. She glanced around the office a little not sure where to start and spotted the cane not far from where Hawke was sitting at his desk. Rose wondered during all this time that Hawke had been gone and since had come back why he hadn't bothered to try getting in touch with her any at all.
"I wanted to find out why you left without any word and why you were gone for so long. Then when I heard you were back, you didn't even send word letting me know you were back or anything. I had to find out from others that you were back."

Hoooo boy!! I knew that look all too well. She meant business.
"Well... it's.. a..long.. and.. drawn... out.... story...." I explain to Rose that I took a yarhen off to do research to look for Brie's missing husband, Turner and after those events unfolded, I was sworn to secrecy. "You could have said goodbye at least!!" she said. "I know...I...wanted...to, but....there were.....leads that....I HAD......to follow...up on....that....were.....time....sensitive." I said. "Besides...I...asked.....JustinB.....to tell.....you I was....back..." I had continued to explain to her that before I had a chance to look for her to explain, I was sent out on another mission. I explained to her my capture by the Cylons, the mind control chip, the strokes, everyhing. By the time I got done explaining to her 2 centars passed. She sat and listened quietly. "Well..What...do..you..think...?" I asked.

Rose was shocked at all of what Hawke had just told her over the past couple of centars. She noticed that while he was explaining things to her that there were times where he had to stop and think about what he wanted to say before actually saying it. She had a feeling that it must be a result of the strokes he had that affected his speach process.
"Did you even think to check and see if JustinB had even given me the message that you were back? He didn't tell me and I'm not sure as to the reason as why he didn't tell me. Guess he thought I'd find out someone other way that you were back so he didn't have to come tell me himself."
Rose stood up from where she had been sitting for the past couple of centars and took a few steps over towards the window that was behind Hawke's desk and stared out at the stars lost in thought. "Did you even think about me while you were gone or how your absence would affect me at all? No one would even tell me anything at all the few times I had asked questions about why you were not around. It was as if you were no longer mentioned at all and no one wanted to explain what was going on about your absence here on the Callisto."

Problem was I had wanted to talk this out yarhens ago. But things just hadn't worked out.
"You.. know, I ...honestly...thought you... had moved....on with your.... life and didn't.....love me.... anymore. I... saw you... with JustinB... and how happy... you were. ..JustinB..and I had... discussed ....you... when you.... two were.... just starting... to become...an item. He... asked... my permission... to start dating you...I said yes. I couldn't... put you... through what I... went through..." I said. I could see her jaw drop. I continued. "When I ....was in the Med.... Bay under.....sedation, I...was quite...literally....battling my demons.... And one.....of them....was you. It....was....the...guilt I ...felt...when....I...left...you. So.. to answer... your question, did ...I think... about ....how it ....would affect... you, yes... I did. But let... me ask....you a...question. When... I was ....in the.... Med Bay...,I was... told afterward,the... whole... ship knew.... what ...I ...was going ....through. Did... you ....even once... bother... to come... and... see... me?" I asked.

Rose continued to look out at the stars unable to turn around and face Hawke right then. It had taken some time, but word had eventually gotten to her that Hawke was back on the Callisto and that he was in MedLab for awhile. There had been rumors she thought as to what had happened to him while he was gone and now she knew what had happened to him in some way while he was gone.
Rose lightly bit her bottom lip as she thought about the question that Hawke asked her on if she had come to MedLab to see him. She turned her head slightly to look over at Hawke before looking back out at the stars once more. "When word finally got out that you were back and ended up having to be in MedLab for awhile, I tried several times to come in to see you, but something stopped me each time. A few times, I made it to right outside the MedLab door, but never had the nerve to walk through the door."
Rose still continued to look out the window out at the stars. Unconciously she reached up with one of her hands and wiped at a single tear that had made it's way down her cheek. "Things between JustinB and myself did not last all that long. In some ways one could consider it a fling of sorts. Who knows any more, since so much has happened since then. When I had started seeing JustinB some way back when, I thought you were no longer interested and I tried my best to move on with my life as best I could." Rose wiped another stray tear that came down her cheek still not looking back at Hawke.

(Editor's note: For continuity of storyline purposes I'm taking thread 36-BB: Haidee's entrance (sorta) and putting it here.)
Leaning against the wall, watching the techs work on her ship. Her eyes never left their actions for a moment. Slowly sliding her way along the wall, she quietly "stalked" her ship, checking the repairs being made. The peircing sound of an alarm going off shattered the silence that was in the room. The techs scrambled, looking for the source. Quietly and silently, Haidee appeared from her solitude and moved to her ship. She knew her ship inside and out and moved to the area of problem as the techs watched as she quickly fixed the problem. Looking up from the ship, her haunting eyes looked at the techs as she managed a small if barely noticeable smile.
"How did you know?" the younger tech inquired. He was dumbfounded by this girl before him.
But his question was unanswered. Haidee resumed looking over the ship and finishing up what little that was needing to be done. The young tech looked at his superior and pointed at Hadiee.
"What's her deal?"
"She seems to have this habit of watching us work on things and she tends to learn that way. To be honest to have a pilot that in tune with the craft is a good thing, boy." The older tech said with a smirk.
"But... she didn't say anything. Is she mute?"
Haidee's head shot up as her eyes gave the young man an icy glare. She stood toe to toe with him, staring at him with her ice-blue eyes.
"if you only knew the hell I've seen..." she screamed in her head. But the words never found their way to her lips. Sighing she looked away and turned on her heels, causing her waist long brown hair to swirl around her. Her attention went back to her ship.
"So is she?" the tech asked again.
"No, I guess you haven't heard about her, they say she...." the older tech started to say only to find his words were cut off by a finger placed gently over his lips and pleading eyes looking into his. She stood before him, begging him not to continue. The sadness, the pain, the haunted look in them reached the heart of the older tech as he nodded and took her hand in his and smiled at her. He whispered in her ear, "I'm sorry. I'll not repeat it ever again. I'm .... I'm so sorry."
Haidee smiled softly and lowered her eyes then met his again. She looked at her ship and then at him with raised eyebrows and a hint of play in her eyes. As if hearing her say it he knew what she wanted to know.
"Yes lieutenant, your ship is fixed. But you know they won't let you fly for a while."
Nodding, Haidee heading off as she seemed satisfied with the results. The techs stared after her as there was almost a spring in her step.
"She used to talk, and she only does when there is something to be said. For the most part, no one can get her to talk. You have to look at her eyes to read what she is saying," the older man said as he shook his head. "Damn shame, they say she has a soft voice like an angel."
Haidee kept walking in the halls as she wandered aimlessly. Her hands played with the frayed pieces of her shirt sleeves. Since they never really use her in flight unless needed, she just wore her civilian clothes, clothes that belonged to her mother. She normally wore a flowing skirt and blouse that matched, with frayed pieces. Some said it gave her a ghostly look, but to her it was all she had left. Finding her favorite spot, she sat down on one of the catwalks in the engine room that was safe to be on. Her eyes closed as her mind drifted to another time and place. She could feel the sun on her face and the wind in her hair. She could smell the grass around her as she laid on it. In the distance she could hear someone calling her name. Sitting up she looked but no one was there. Blinking a few times to wake up, she found Winny there looking at her with a huge grin.
"Hey there silly! I thought I'd find you here. They said you were over them like a bird of prey while they fixed your ship." Winny teased her.
Haidee only smiled and shrugged as if to say, you know me. Standing up and dusting off her skirt she looked with a question on her face.
"Oh yeah I need you to come with me. I think there is someone that needs your help, the help that you can give with your healing touch."
Haidee looked down and took a step back into the shadows. A voice barely audible came out.
"I can't heal anyone anymore. You know that."
Blinking a few times to make sure she heard her right, Winny was taken back that she heard her speak. Shaking her head she took Haidee by the hand and pulled her along, making her stumble a bit.
"Oh you will and you can and you know it so stop that and come on! He's expecting you."
Pulling along her charge, Winny grinned to herself. She got her to speak and that was a huge feat as most swear she'd never talk again.
