<No spoilers PLEASE! This thread is for conjecture only!!! See Note below!!!!>
From our past discussions, it seems that there are a number of us who are Harry Potter fans. With the last book coming out in a few days and with JKR's statement that at least one main character will die, the big question seems to be, will Harry Potter die? Therefore, this thread is dedicated to that question, and our guesses about the answer. Please don't post anything about the storyline after reading the book.
Note: Violating posts will be removed, and the foul violator will be dragged by a host of dementors to serve extended time in Azkhaban!
For the record, I'm guessing NO. Furthermore, I'm also guessing that the character who will die to fulfill the prophecy is not Harry, but Neville (sorry Brie!), who was born on the same day as Harry, and suffered a very similar fate as the more famous "boy who lived." I'm guessing that in the final showdown with Voldemort, Harry will battle the Dark Lord, be within an inch of being defeated, and will then be "saved" by Neville who shows up at the last second. Working together, the two will defeat Voldemort, but with the loss of Neville.
Of course, that's just my wild guess. Personally, I'm looking forward to reading what JKR relates REALLY happened!

JKR has stated at least 2 main characters will die.
I think Harry will live, but only within an inch of death. I believe, Ron and Hermione will die. Neveille will kill and get his revenge on Bellatrix Lestrange, then help Harry fighting the Big V and die in doing so.
Harry won't die. Some believe he is a horcruxe but I doubt it. Hagrid is another possibility.
On another note, I saw HPOOTP on the weekend. It was great but I was so so disappointed that they left the bit that made me laugh the most. That part was at the end in the book when the members of the order confront the Dursleys about mistreating Harry and threatening them if it continued. I was so disappointed that they didn't include this part.
One question I would to raise is why Dobby who plays major parts in HPGOF and HPOOTP book, was left out in the movie versions?

I really believe that Harry will NOT die. Come on, JK gave Disneyland permission for a Harry Potter theme park. I don't think they'd do that for a park based on The Boy Who Died.
My guess is Snape. He'll die saving Harry. I truly believe that Snape is good and there will be huge revelations about it in the last book.
My secnd guess would be Ron....it better not be, but it's a possibility.
Neville will be a key player. I think the comment that he made in Halfblood Prince about being the last one to buy a wand from Olivander before he disappeared is important.
Expanding on Snape for a moment...I am not convinced that Dumbledore is really dead. BUT, if he is, could it be possible that he was already dying for some reason and asked Snape to play along with it and seem to kill him? Hagrid hears Snape and Dumbledore arguing...Snape says he 'doesn't want to do it anymore.' What can he mean? ANd the pleading on the tower...could Dumbledore ahve been pleading with Snape not to save his life, but to go ahead with their plan. Snape's face is full of pain when he confronts Harry on the grounds during the escape.
And this is Dumbledore we're talking about. Could Snape fool him that completely? I think there is more to their relationship and Dumbledore's reasons for trusting Snape than we know. It can't be as simple as Snape being sorry he told Voldemort about the prophecy.
Harry isn't a Horcrux. For a while I thought maybe his scar was, but now I don't think so.
Order of the Phoenix.....
I loved it! I thought it did the best of all the movies so far at portraying what was happening in the book without changing too many things. I would have liekd them to mention that the prophecy could have pertained to Neville, but you still get to see Neville's transformation throughout the movie anyway, so it didn't ruin it.
The only thing I didn't liek was that I thought they made it look like Luna and Harry could get together romantically at some point. We all know they are just friends and that is all it has ever been. I just thought that little allusion was pointless.

Please, PLEASE, heed to the no spoilers rule, even after you've read the book. Things have been crazy and it's going to be a while until I have a chance to read the whole thing.
That said...what do you guys have against poor Neville? You sound like my daughter...
What I want to know is what is considered a "main" character. When book 5 came out such a big deal was made about a main character dying, but when I read it I thought "You can't be serious..." (Pun intended.)
My thoughts...Harry can't die. It would leave the series on too much of a downer. I think the 2 characters will be Ron (sorry Logan) and Snape.
I loved the movie. We saw it at midnight when it came out. My main complaint was no "Weasley is our king." I didn't miss the games, just the song.

Aww, Brie, what do you have against Ron? HAHA!
And as for spoilers, I plan on disappearing from the internet from midnight Friday until i have finished the book just so I don't get inadvertent spoilers. Some people are stupid and will post spoilers in subject lines of threads and emails and I AM NOT TAKING THAT CHANCE! It would absolutely ruin it for me. I'm going to have enough trouble just reading the book without peaking towards the last pages as it is.
And I solemnly PROMISE not to give anything away if I finish and get back online and others haven't finished it yet. In such circumstances, I'd expect others to ahve the courtesy of doing the same for me.
And as for the 'main' character question...I was the same way about Sirius' death. I think I actually said out loud "That's it?" Very disappointing.
And let's keep in mind that she has said 2 main characters will die. One of them has to be Voldemort. He is a main character after all.
I forgot about the Weasley is our King song. I didn't miss the Quidditch though.
The scene with them all flying over the river through London was amazing. I thought that was such a great touch.
Oh and not enough Lupin! Not enough Tonks! And really, not enough Sirius. I adore Gary Oldman and really wanted to see more of him.
And how perfect was Umbridge? She was creepy +1 and I loved it.

Just to let you guys know, there are already spoliers online. Someone posted some on another forum I belong to. Luckily it was deleted before I saw it and the owner of the site is banning anyone who posts anymore of them.
Keep in mind when you're surfing the net that there are many false spoliers going around too.

I think that we should ban ALL spoilers here from the new book until at least September. Even if you post "Spoiler Warning" in big letters at the top it can be seen by accident. That happened with me with some of the Stargate posts, although I don't really care as much about spoilers when it comes to Stargate.
I was reading last night that only 20% of adults in a recent poll are sure that Harry is about to die. Close to a third weren't sure either way. And the same article quotes a different poll, this one taken by kids. Over half of them think Harry is going to die.

Brie, I promise to not haze you in every e-mail that they killed Neville like I did with book five..... even if you didn't believe any of it....
With all I have going on it may take some time before I get to finish it as well.

Well Girls and Guys, As I write this post it is less than 12hrs before I get my hand on the latest book. One thing I was pondering about this afternoon about Harry.
WB have a lot invested in the HP series, There are still 2 more movies to make. Should Harry die, a lot of revenue would be lost since not as many people would go to see the next 2 .
So Harry will be spared an untimely death in my opinion.

I think that we should ban ALL spoilers here from the new book until at least September. That's about what I was thinking. Any spoilers posted will be promptly removed until at least September, and the offending poster will be...well, let's just say it won't be pretty!
