Triton tried to stand his ground, putting his hands on his hips to mask his insecurity and with a look like he had his panties in a twist he replied, "Well now, that depends if you mean, do I like the trend you're trying to set in a new standard uniform? Then no. Somehow I don't think it would protect you much from G-Forces in a viper cockpit, not to mention other things".
Artus did his best not to sigh. Well, at least that told him how much, or actually how little this guy knew about flying a viper in the first place.
Triton lifted his gaze higher, looking straight at Artus allthough it was obvious he had trouble keeping his eyes from Artus’ body.
"Or do you perhaps mean do I like seeing that you've obviously been released from your grid cell, Lord knows why though?, then, I have to say I have mixed thoughts on that one."
Mixed thoughts? Dubious little minx.
Well, at least Artus had been right about this guy. He obviously went both ways. Artus wondered if Persephone knew that. She must obviously be wearing the pants in that relationship. The thought alone made Artus smile.
Triton was obviously trying to look as cool as possible as he said: "Maybe you ought to find yourself a uniform before you loose the one you wearing, Lieutenant."
What was that? An attempt at seduction? Artus suddenly felt real sorry for Persephone.
”Oh don’t worry about me. I have been in tighter scraps. You know, the kind real warriors have to fight themselves out of.
By the way, thanks for visiting me in my cell. And all those letters. My, you did make me feel special.”

Triton felt nothing but sorry for a warrior who had to build himself up with such arrogance and an ego the size of a super giant red star. He had dealt with many types of people as a former protector. He had sent criminals to the barge, who threatened him using more certifiable mind games than Artus' childish ways of trying to get to him. He knew just how to deal with him. "Well Artus!", Triton raised his tone, smiling as slyly as Artus, "I'm so glad you got my letters, I was beginning to think you didn't recieve them. Oh ahh, and you've always been special", Triton moved forward to put his hand on Artus' shoulder,"I had to impress you, y'know...", Triton lowered his head to make direct eye contact, all the while smiling through his reply. "I just couldn't bare it if some other prisoner had swept you off your feet before me".
Artus looked rather like he was totally not expecting this new lieutenant to come back with such a swift retort, and loud enough for all other passer byers to hear it. Had Triton caught Artus by surprise for a change? "Oh don't be shy about it", he continued, wanting to make Artus turn as red as Caprican ketchup.
"And if I live up to be half the warrior you are, then that'll be a fine day indeed. Maybe I can look forward to you writing me letters if I should land in the prison barge."
With that, Triton patted Artus on the shoulder and walked away toward the mess hall. He was starving!

As Persephone finished up the last of her breakfast kava , she heard the familiar voice of her bunkmate say, "Pers! So glad to finally catch you. I just heard something from Helix, you're not going to believe it". Persephone gulped the last mouthful of her beverage as she turned to look up at Misty Star, who with slightly wide eyes was placing her meal tray down on the table beside her. Helix followed in suite as he greeted Persephone cheerily, laying down his own tray. His plate was piled high with toast, fried eggs, fresh from the gallidian that were now being successfully raised and bred on the livestock ship, as well as suswine flitch, several pieces of it. And of course a large mug of steaming kava.
"Helix, you're going to eat the Fleet out of every ship and freighter one day!" Persephone jibed at him, smiling.
"Hey...I'm a big boy, I gotta eat properly at the start of a new light cycle, or Misty will have to carry me around for the rest of the day", he chuckled.
"Oh I'm sure, Misty wouldn't mind that...", she added, as she nudged her friend in the side in jest. Misty just rolled her eyes with her crooked smile, as she took a mouthful from her cup. "After the way he eats, I'd need a turbolift to carry him".
The three friends laughed for a while, just making the best of their short time together before having to part and go their separate ways for the day's duties. As their banter died down, and Helix was digging into his breakfast, and Misty was spreading a fruit preserve on her toast, while thinking how to put the scoop to her best friend, Persephone proceeded to ask Misty what news she had heard.
"So, Misty, what did you hear, that I wouldn't believe, from our little Boray here with his nose in the trog?", she asked, giving one last jibe at Helix.
"Trog? You're no better when there's shorsa on the menu, Miss Persephone...", Helix raised his eyebrows, letting out a few "tsch tsch", feigning disgust.
Misty Star rolled her eyes once again, laughing all the while, but interrupted the antics which seemed unstoppable this morning, though she knew Persephone just needed a bit of a release from the stress of the day before.
"E-hem, if I may intercept before you two have an all out War of the Hecklers at the table?"
Wiping away the tears of laughter from her eyes, Persephone faced Misty to listen to her news. "Go ahead Misty, tell me".
"Okay. You may not like what you're about to hear. And it was probably good that we lightened the mood before I said anything but", she paused, took a breathe and continued. "Helix heard from someone in our squadron, that Lieutenant Artus has been released from the brig today". She watched for her friend's reaction.
Persephone's happy smile turned to a serious countenance. Did she hear right? Artus was out? She wasn't sure how that was supposed to affect her, nor did she want her friends to think it affected her, but rather than seem disturbed by the information, she played it serenely, responding with, " Well, good for him. Maybe Artus will be a better man for it. I hope he'll return to his duties again, with renewed commitment".
Helix and Misty glanced at eachother, and then back at Persephone.
"Are you sure you're okay with this, Pers?" Helix asked, concerned knowing the short lived history she had with the wayward warrior.
"Of course, why wouldn't I be? Lieutenant Artus is of no real concern to me. We were wingmen for barley a centon. I really didn't know him that well. Besides, I have more than enough on my mind right now. I have a new assignment today, which I 'll be late for if I don't get moving. I'll see you two later. Maybe a drink in the officer's lounge this evening"? .She rose from the table.
"Sure, Pers.", replied Misty. "Be safe today", added Helix.
"Great. And thanks". She looked down at her chrono, and grabbed her jacket from the back of her chair. "Same to you both, and have fun on your viper checks today".
With that she made her way out the mess hall and waved a hand at her friends, as she departed.
To be honest, the news of Artus did affect her, more than she wanted to even admit to herself. Why, she didn't know. She felt a strange mix of feelings. The face of Artus flashed in her mind, as she walked down the corridor. It unsettled her. Maybe if she could just locate Triton, it would take her mind off Artus.

On the Celestra
Ten vipers stood lined up in the maintenance area of the electronics ship, better known as the Celestra. Technicians and engineers buzzed all over the deck, repairing, modifying and carrying out maintenance checks on the fighter crafts.
Near to the middle of the row of starfighters, a short man picked up a small device to be repaired for a viper power connector. He looked at it puzzled, then glanced up at his 2nd technician who had his head inside the cockpit of a viper, making adjustments to its Attack Computer.
"Hey Decuis! I think you better come and take a look at this", the man shouted to his technician.
Decius pulled himself up from the bent over position he was momentarily in over the cockpit dashboard. "What is it Iltar?"
"This circuit board for the power connector is totally fracked, and I don't know how in hades the pilot who flew this viper was able to even get it over here without completely loosing control. It must have been just touching on the wires, enough to fly. "
Decius was now at Iltar's side peering at the circuit board himself. "I see what you mean. I've never seen one in such bad shape."
"You're the wiz at these things, Decius. I'll let you handle this one."
"Okay, sure thing", he replied. "I'll just finish up with the attack computer in viper 5, then I'll get on to those circuits for you".
"Great, thanks. In the meantime, I have some gyro-capacitors to check over", the short man said as he started to make his way over to his next maintenance work.
Decius twisted the circuit board around in his hand, looking at it with a sigh, then placed it back on the bench for the moment returning to the starfighter to continue with his duty.
Unbeknown to him, a tall man stood from one of the rafter walkways above the maintenance deck watching Decius at his work. In his hand he held a photograph. In the photo appeared Decius, but along side of him were two young girls. His sisters. He placed the photograph back inside the pocket of his jacket.
The watcher had a gentle face, and so wanted to make contact with Decius many times in the past, but held back for a reason. If only you knew who you really are, he thought to himself.

Logan stretched out in her seat in Gold's Ready Room and crossed her legs at the ankles, her hands locked and stretched above her head. Her neck felt tight so she rotated it and watched the door.
Standing up, she began pacing, a habit she had picked up pre-missions a long time ago.
Her mind was awhir as she continued to process all that had happened since the Base Ship mission. The members of Bronze who had been lost. Ally's disappearance after returning injured to the Callisto. The routine prisoner transfer being anything but. Comeek escaping. Amy's sudden leaving with no word. Brie's death...she realized suddenly she was standing still, facing the door, wishing her friend and CO would walk through that door. She still couldn't believe that Brie was gone.
The briefing should be starting soon. As was her custom, Logan had shown up early. After Baris had frowned over her enough, she and her teammates had been released from Med Lab. She had gotten a quick shower, changed and eaten and made her way to the Ready Room.
Now she just waited. She didn't wait well. She was ready to get started. Go after Amy and find out why she had left and give her the news about Brie. She knew that Amy and Brie were close and she had suspicions about their relationship. Suspicions that she had left unsaid because it really wasn't her business or anyone else's. Logan sighed heavily and began pacing once more, keeping one eye on the door waiting for the rest of the team to show up.

Persephone absentmindedly held her hand on her blaster as she walked down sector C toward the ready room, while still having her thoughts on Artus.(Though, she was not sure what made her do this, as there were no impending attacks from Cylons in the corridor of the Callisto..well not that she was aware of anyway).
The night she and Triton were enjoying their first drink together in the OC, sectars ago, Artus had wandered in and got completely plastered at the bar. After slamming the last of his third Sagittaren Sunrise down, he staggered over to their table and his words from that encounter came back to her, "That's my wingman you're talking to. And I'm looking out for her, making sure nobody hurts her. So you watch yourself."
Triton's mouth was open at Artus' "out of the blue", hostile remark to him, with the lieutenant further adding, "You make any wrong moves and you'll find yourself floating back to the colonies".
Persephone didn't know what had gotten into Artus. Hades! what would have he been like as a wingman if Major Brie hadn't re-posted assigning Persephone with the then, Lieutenant Logan, when she did?!
She took a deep sigh. It was probably better this way anyway. The way Artus could penetrate his stare right through her uniform made her uncomfortable to say the least.
Suddenly, her mind was brought back to the centon. Was that Triton up ahead?
Finally! she thought. Now she could tell him all about her meeting her mother during her unconscious state on the shuttle yesterday. And that she believed what her mother had told her about Ganymede still being very much alive, somewhere on the fleets, she hoped it was indeed the Celestra, as Carina had told her.

Stepping out of the shower in Med Lab Brik found that his mind had cleared and he felt a bit more HUMAN. Not completely, but close . . . close enough to keep going and begin the mission.
He saw that the Lieutenant had already left and Logan still seemed groggy. On that last fact, it seemed that some things (like Logan in the morning) remained constant. He knew that he was better off waiting to speak to her, waiting until she'd had her morning beverage.
But perhaps it was time for things to change.
He walked over to her and she gave her textbook "what do you want, no morning beverage yet" look.
"Yes, my friend, I know but it's Brik and it won't work." Her look of tired resignation told him that his gambit seemed to be working. "Morning beverage on me CAPTAIN." He stressed the last word purposefully and she smiled. "Very well CAPTAIN, see you in the mess" she replied and shook her head, still smiling. Brik shook his head in return, put on his new uniform coat and blaster (at last), and walked toward the door. Then his thoughts turned to Skyler...

Just as she was about call out to Triton, he turned and entered the Ready Room. What is he doing going into the Ready Room? Persephone wondered, confused. She continued onto the room herself, picking up her pace. She glanced down at her chrono, and realized she was only a few centons away from being late anyhow. She didn't want to disappoint Logan to arrive behind time. The door opened and she walked in. Logan was already waiting in there. And there was Triton talking to Logan. What is going on? Is Triton on assignment too today? The scamp! He never even bothered to see how I was this morning, nor join me for breakfast, and here he is in the ready room, and didn't breathe a word about it!No wait, Commander did say there were a few others to join the team to search for Captain Amy...is Triton one of them? she curiously wondered. Well, one way to find out. Just as she was about to approach him and her wingman, Triton turned around. "Good morning Lieutenant Persephone", he said out loud. Logan had a bit of a smirk on her face. But she did look a hades lot better than earlier this morning. "Lieutenant Triton, good morning. Am I in the wrong Ready Room"? Persephone waited for the answer, as she walked over closer to them. Triton's expression was cool but that randy glint in his eye started to give his countenance away all too soon. With his back to the Captain, he winked at his girl. Logan simply just poured herself a cup of hot kava from the table behind where Triton stood. Persephone's closed lips opened slightly apasp, and she motioned with a seriousness in her eyes for Triton to stop being so boldy cheeky while being in the company of her senior officer, though a smile couldn't help but want to spread across her face. She held it back as best as she could. She thought she saw Logan look up and notice the looks she and Triton must have been giving each other, while she had been taking a sip from her steaming beverage. To thwart any further unprofessional conduct, Persephone questioned the matter once again, this time directing the question at Logan. "Is this the right room for our meeting Captian?" P.S For anyone not sure of some of the terms I am using on a frequent basis these days, just go to the Extra Colonial Terms list: bscallisto.proboards20.com/index.cgi?board=RPG&action=display&thread=250 that Captain Hawke added not to long ago, that I sent to him for the Callisto. Jusst scroll down to the post dated from the 29th June and you'll see a list of new terms added. You'll see many repeated ones we are already familiar with, but just keep scrolling down to an alphabetical order of new ones! Enjoy.

To thwart any further unprofessional conduct, Persephone questioned the matter once again, this time directing the question at Logan. "Is this the right room for our meeting Captain?"
Logan sipped at the kava and made a face. She had already had three cups while having breakfast with Brik and didn't need anymore. She was alert and needed to keep focused for the briefing. Besides, this batch wasn't as good as what they served in the Officer's Mess.
She set the cup aside and tilted her head to take in Persephone and Triton. The former seems confused, the latter reserved, but with the traces of a smile in his eyes.
When Lt. Triton had walked in and introduced himself to her, she was momentarily taken aback. Triton wasn't someone she was familar with, but if Sheba had assigned him to the mission, there must be a reason.
She met her wingman's gaze and nodded, crossing her arms and leaning back on the edge of the table. "Yes, Lt. You're in the right place." Logan couldn't tell what was going through Persephone's mind, but she could tell that there was something going on between her young wingman and Triton.
Before Persephone had time to respond (and frankly, Logan got the impression that the Lt. was too stymied to form words just yet anyway), Hush walked into the room, closely followed by Brik. They were both laughing. When they saw Logan, Brik squared his shoulders and coughed into his hand. Hush gave her an innocent shrug as the two men joined her by the kava, Brik reaching out to scoop up the cup she had abandoned.
"Do I want to know?" she asked her old friend who grinned devilishly at her.
"Probably not," he mumbled as he sipped her kava and made a face. "How can you drink this stuff with no sweetener?" He put the cup down and looked around the room.
Logan raised her eyebrow and started biting her lip. She had the sinking feeling that Brik and Hush had been talking about her. Well, Brik was talking about her. She knew him and she knew that he had noticed her growing attachment to Hush. It wasn't in his nature to stand idley by in such situations.
Hush raised his eyebrow at her but didn't say anything. She smiled reassuringly, but didn't know what to say to him. He was one of few people who made her go from babbling nonsense one micron to losing control over her tongue the next. Brik watched their silent exchange and grinned openly.
"Just waiting for the Commander now?" Brik asked as he moved to take a seat.
"Not quite," came a voice from the doorway. Lt. Baris strode purposefully into the room and seated himself next to Brik.

Logan didn't recover as quickly internally as it appeared she did externally. Moving to the first row of seats where Brik and Baris sat, she eased into the chair next to the Lt. from Med Lab.
Hush had taken a seat on the other side of Brik and exchanged a quizzical glance with the large Captain. Brik shook his head and shrugged his big shoulders. He wasn't sure what Logan's problem with Baris was, but knew that the Lt. got under her skin for some reason. He could read it in her body language.
Logan glanced back to see that Persephone and Triton were likewise taking seats in the rows behind them, speaking in undertones on matters Logan could only guess at.
Logan took a deep breath, propped her right leg on her left casually and turned to Baris. "Why are you here, Lt.?"
Lt. Baris sat straight in his chair, his uniform was impeccable and dark hair slicked back on his scalp, nary a strand out of place. "I'm here for the briefing, of course."
Logan was nodding as if that made perfect sense. "Of course."
Baris was trying hard not to smile, but the corners of his mouth were pursed to stop the grin that was trying to surface.
Logan waited for a few microns. She bit her lip and looked across Baris to see both Brik and Hush leaning up in their chairs, watching her every move. She didn't disappoint them.
"Hmmm, Lt. You heard the Commander in Med Lab. You understand the scope of this mission and what it involves."
Baris frowned, not getting her meaning. "Yes...," he said slowly, trying to figure out where she was going with this.
"We're going undercover. Who knows what dirty garbage barge we'll end up on. No uniforms, no nicieties...no guarantees of a turbo wash."
Understanding dawned in his eyes and he let the smile he'd been holding back play over his face. "All the more reason for you to have someone with you who has a medical background. I know how hard it is for you Warriors to keep yourselves out of the cesspools and engine grease."
He seemed very satisfied with his answer and it was Logan's turn to frown. She couldn't have picked a worse possible member of this team. She could see the wisdom of having along medical personnel, but the clean-cut, arrogant Baris. She didn't know whether to laugh or slap the smile from his face.
"This won't be a pretty assignment, Lt. Baris." She couldn't see the pristine Med Tech crawling through the underbelly of some delapidated transport.
"I am fully aware of that, Captain Logan. But the Commander seems to think that I will be of value on this particular assignment. She asked me personally and I accepted. And from your team's physical states on return from the past two missions, I think she made a good call. Who better to tag along than the one who ends up putting you all back together after your missions are complete?"
Logan opened her mouth in rebuttal but couldn't find any words to counter his argument. He just smiled wider.
