Yeah, I agree. I didn't really get into the EU much, so anything they do with the movies is fine with me...I actually liked the prequels!!
As for Harrison, yes, that's the scuttlebut. It looks like we will be getting a 75 year old Han Solo!!!

I like certain time periods of the EU (and prefer the pre-prequal EU timeline for the clone wars) so I'm VERY concerned with what the new movies will bring us. I am also worried that they will flood the market in hopes of repeating the Avengers success. I don't know if Star Wars is able to handle that right now. There were times it could have in my opinion, but not sure now.

Well, like it or not, we are going to be inundated with Star Wars over the next decade!!! A totally new trilogy of movies, two new spinoff movies, Clone Wars for at least one more season, I think one more TV show (Detours) and I had heard they might be planning another even younger skewing cartoon show for littler kids too...
Not to mention dozens of more novels, etc.

A great disturbance in the Force I feel... I hope they do not screw it up, but with the rash of reboots I do not hold out hope... JJ Abrams Star Trek, while well received by many, was also no so. I just hope he doesn't pull a time traveling Han "Ford" Solo to meet young Han and stop some galactic evil... Someone has posted that JJ really stands for Jar Jar....

I just hope that they don't decide to remake the originals in ten years or so. I'm willing to give most of this a fair chance but I wouldn't do it if they remake our classics!

well, it's being reported that Carrie Fisher has signed on for Ep 7. So that's Han and Leia if it's True. You have to believe that Anthony Daniels will be back, Since he's done all 6 so far. That leaves Mark Hamill, Billy Dee Williams and Peter Mayhew. We shall see if they do all come back

Mark Hamill has expressed interest more than once, even in a background role, and I think Billy Dee Williams has as well. I would be shocked if Peter Mayhew wasn't up for it since he's been such a big part of the convention scene. I saw him two years ago, he had just had knee surgery and was in a wheelchair while he recovered, but he still wouldn't cancel the appearance. I'm sure that the fact that it was at Walt Disney World had nothing to do with it...

Of course they'll have to deal with the fact that they killed off Chewie in Vector Prime. I hated that book, it's the last one that I read. That's where the EU questions will start.

Brie, the movie will not be based on any of the books. Chances are Chewie will be alive and well and no one will know anything about the Vong or Thrawn. It also means that Boba Fett did die in the Sarlac in ROTJ as Lucas intended. Since Lucas has stated a number of times that Fett is dead

I know that it's not based on the books. I just brought it up because we've already mentioned how much of the extended universe will be accepted. A lot of people think that the movies will be based on the Solo kids, who are all of course part of the EU. Will they even exist in the new movie? What is cannon and what isn't? It should be interesting to find out.
George Lucas gave them permission to kill Chewie off, will that make it so? I sure hope not.
Of course this is now Disney that we're talking about, Chewie toys will sell. I love Disney but I do realize that they're all about money.
