Not sure if you all have seen the news, but this week LFL announced that the animated Clone Wars series has not been renewed for a sixth season. They want to concentrate on Ep. VII.
I really enjoyed the Clone Wars and my kids did too. yeah, at times it was a little violent, but it was about a war after all...
I just hope they find some way to wrap up the storylines left hanging like what ultimately happens to Ahsoka and Darth Maul...
It was a good 5 years while it lasted.

The animated series was better than the movies. Many have said that Ahsoka was killed defending Palpatine's worthless a$$ against General Grievous in the first animated series (that takes place between Star Wars 2 and 3. This news is bitter sweet. I liked if not loved the Clone Wars (the movies are not worthy of it). That said, I look forward to MOVING FORWARD. I got the impression that Lucas favored the earlier days. We have three movies and several animated series about the Clone Wars. What did we have about the original trilogy? Three movies, various animated series that barely touched on the main characters (ewoks, Droids) and the Holiday Special while I think I could make it good does not count in its current form. And I prefer the original trilogy. Clone Wars to me is like Blood and Chrome to me. "Oh cool, we have some good action, I love it, bring on more!!" "But we are thinking of scrapping that moving on with the classic Battlestar story line." "Man... I am really going to miss Blood and Chrome....." That is how I feel with ending Clone Wars for Episode VII

never watched any of it, no real interest honestly. Plus they killed the best part of the EU in the Prequel times. The Republic Commando Books. No thanks

I haven't watched more than ten minutes of it but I'm still surprised. You'd think that with the new movies coming out that they would want the Star Wars name out there as much as possible.
Maybe they're worried about continuity so they decided to end it before there would be any issues. Yeah, right.

No thanks What were the Republic Commando Books all about? You know it is hard to get too attached to anyone in the Prequels. The Jedis are jerks. The commandos eventually turn on the Jedis. Padme and Anakin are tools. Palpatine is evil but they never explain why. I kinda like how the commandos are basically Jango Fett clones. A whole army of them. That much is amazing. I'm a huge Boba Fett fan. Aside from that it was a story I think could have been told in a movie or two, but all this coverage I don't get.

The Commando Books follow a Clone Commando Squad. Omega Squad. Book one is primarily about them, the books after begin looking into the Mandolorian Culture. She based it more or less on a Viking or Celt like Society. The Cast of characters got bigger and bigger, and included Novel Versions of Delta Squad (The Republic Commandos in the Video Game) The last books took place AFTER Order 66 and the formation of the Empire, so it was titled Imperial Commando. there were 2 to 3 more books planned till the Cartoon pretty much voided the Culture that the books established. Travis Quit writing the series at that point.
Us Fans are STILL waiting for the storyline to be continued. Since it just ended with unresolved Storylines.

So what did the cartoon series do to void the culture? How canon were the books with the Star Wars Universe and how much were the book communicating with those of the cartoon series?

The Cartoon depicts the Mandolorians as a peace loving culture, one where violence is not a way of life. They live in urban cities.
Just about the absolute opposite of the Warrior culture that lived in rural farm areas, where all mandos live in their armor, and are for hire.
as for how canon the books are, unless labeled Infinities, all Star Wars material has to fit into Continuity. there are levels, but unfortunately, the Clone Wars Cartoon trumps all other sources.
Regardless of the fact that the material it contradicts material that has been approved by LFL.
It's like Changing the Original Trilogy in order to make the Prequels. Rather then making the New movies fit the originals.

yeah, ol' George has seen fit to do it his way, well, it is his invention after all...we just sit back and try to enjoy it. If not, turn it off or don't buy it...we have the power in the end if you look at it that way.
But for me, hey, it's entertainment. That's all...fun to be sure, but just entertainment...

That is the great power of the consumer. I've taken to ignoring about 80% of the prequels and returning my idea of the Clone Wars (as in multiple of them) to the timeline hinted to in early Expanded Universe sources. That being that ANH takes place about 35 years after the purge of the Jedi (but not the last war) and Vader was Vader outside the suit for a longer time (Years). He did have armor to hide the fact he was Anakin though. That's why it's not more well known.
The clones are who we saw, but as Palpatine centralized clone creation, they became unreliable. The last war was clone against clone and saw the introduction of volunteers into STORMTROOPER ranks this is where insane clones became a fear. And Palpatine tried to clone jedi for his own purposes.
