Carefully, lovingly, Den returned the child to his crib. "I'll be back in a centon, Kumarbi. You just sleep, as I know you will. I've made sure to that." He then went to where Kammy/Kyla was lying and dragged her across the floor. She was heavier than he had expected, "probably from all those extra mushies," he said out loud. He pulled her up to Boleman's computer. He had been watching her, observing, for quite some time, he knew that she was a two-finger typist. Using Kammy's fingers instead of his own so as to leave the correct finger prints, he typed a quick note.
Boleman,
I can't do this. I'm sorry. Please don't come looking for us.
Kyla
Den wheeled the cart over and opened up the bottom. With a great deal of effort he stuffed the body inside. Someone else would dispose of it later. He had never killed before, but having been called to do so by his Master he felt a great deal of pride. "Besides," he said out loud, "she deserved to die. Naming my Master's son after the Great Traitor..." He shuddered, then went into the closets and grabbed some clothes and whatever else he could find. He needed to make it look as if they had packed and left. He threw the items on top of Kammy's body. Den opened up one more compartment on his cart. He pick up the baby and gently placed him inside. "Humble beginnings, little Kumarbi. But soon you'll be leading the fleet, like your father should have. He will be guiding you every micron, from beyond. I wish that you could have known him." He paused. "I hope you like your new name, Kumarbi. It's a name much more worthy of you." Den closed up the cart and took one last look around the room. Nothing was out of place. He left, whistling as he walked down the hall. Mission complete.

His eyes gazed intensely at the monitor, as he watched the tail end of shuttle Gold two , leaving the end of the launch bay and out into space. Then glancing over to the next monitor, he watched for a micron as he heard the flight officer say, "Transferring flight control to Gold viper two, launch when ready", the second escort viper blasted out through the launch tube to follow the shuttle.
Triton felt a pang in his stomach that he wished so hard he could jettison it without another thought.
"Triton"? came a questioning familiar female voice.
Breaking his vigilance, Triton looked around to see Commander Sheba standing there with a smile on her face. Her long golden hair cascaded over her shoulders. Dressed in a Commander's blue sapphire uniform adorned with the customary seal on her collar and flanked by Callisto colonial pins.
Standing to attention, he addressed her formally.
"Commander Sheba".
She moved forward and spoke to him. "What are you doing up here on the Bridge? It's nice to see you, I haven't had a chance to speak with you since you came aboard the Callisto", she cheerfully said.
"It's nice to see you too Ma'am, and I've been kept quite busy with training as a new cadet and all".
"That's right. Oh and congratulations on making it to Lieutenant-hood by the way. Major Brie informed me there were some new promotions in Gold Squadron recently".
"Thank you Commander", Triton smiled with a slight flush.
"Has Apollo heard the news? I'm sure he'd be very proud to know his cousin made it as a full warrior."
"Ahh, no Ma'am. I was saving it for our next time when we catch up together..sometime".
"Yes, of course. You two always made a special time when you could spend time together. I'm sure he's looking forward to your next meeting. He often used to tell me how close you two are, since childhood."
"Indeed, Ma'am. Apollo has always been like a brother to me. I look up to him with great respect and honor."
Sheba studied Triton's face thoughtfully and added, "You look worried, something wrong Lieutenant?"
"I was watching the shuttles taking off just now Commander, that's all."
Sheba was all too familiar with that look she had seen on the face of Triton's cousin. And from what she knew of Triton from the few times she had meet him in the past yahrens, she learned, neither he nor his cousin, Apollo, were good at hiding their emotions very well. She continued the small chat, as she moved towards the monitors gesturing with her hands. "Well, getting a feel of how everything looks on the monitor when our ships are taking off, gives you another perspective of perfect launch procedures. You don't get to watch yourself when you're in a viper or a shuttle." She smiled reassuringly.
"Yes, that's very true, Commander. I'm yet to launch in a viper myself, Ma'am".
"But that's not what you were thinking about just now while you watching the monitor, were you?"
Triton tried unsuccessfully, to cover his true feelings by attempting to give a nebulous answer. "You know my mind, Commander. I'm always thinking about something. If it wasn't about my former cases when I was still practicing law on the fleets, well, now I have a thousand things ranging from gyro-capacitors to attack computers and scanners to lasers generators and thrusters...", Triton's blue eyes scanned Sheba's face to see if she was buying his evasive answer, and further said to finish his sentence," ...and every other thing in between that, under a sunstorm, found in the Book of Strategy and War Book, is going through my head ".
Sheba furrowed her brows at him, not quite believing the reply he was giving her.
"You know someone on one of those shuttles, Triton? Perhaps someone you might care about?" Sheba already had a feeling this was Triton's case.
He glanced down at the floor nervously as he put his hands on his hips, then said without glancing up," Is it that obvious Commander"?
Sheba pressed her lips together as the corners of her mouth turned up into a smile, knowing she finally got it out of him.
"You wouldn't happen to be pining over a certain young Lieutenant Persephone would you? She's the only one the list of names for the assignment, that you could possibly know better than any of the other officers. Plus I happen to know you graduated from the same simulator class under Lieutenant Flell".
Triton tried hard not to give it all away, but the Commander was all too knowing.
"Persephone and I are close friends, and I just wanted to see that the shuttle she's co-piloting, launched smoothly."
"I saw her for a centon on the monitor down in alpha bay preparing to board the shuttle. She's a very pretty woman. She reminds me of someone...can't think who though. Anyway, as you saw, she and Lieutenant Logan launched without any problems."
He took a deep breathe, "Yes, I saw."
"I'm sure the assignment will be just fine and your friend will be back and enjoying a drink in the officer's club before you even finish up with your duties for the day, Triton". Sheba put a hand on his shoulder, as she gave a winning smile at the new warrior.
Triton returned the smile.
"Well I have to return to my own duty. It was good to see you Triton. Hope you and Apollo meet real soon, if nothing in the line of duty come first, that is. And may the Lords of Kobol always go with you".
"Thank you Commander, and with you. By your leave"? Triton respectfully asked before leaving the bridge and returning to his work .
"Released, Lieutenant". Sheba gave a formal smile.
Triton gave a salute, turned and left the busy bridge, soon runnning into Sobek in the corridor, waiting for him to get back to their viper check.

As much as he would have liked to have kept the baby forever, Den knew that the future of humanity was counting on him. Making sure that he wasn't being followed, he wheeled his cart to the predetermined place. The room had come in handy so many times. According to the official files, two bed-ridden men shared that room. What no one realized was that both men were part of the New Secret Survival Society, and that neither of them were actually bed-ridden. Den knocked the secret knock and the door opened.
"Did you get him?" a man asked immediately.
"Of course," Den replied. He opened his cart and carefully took the baby out of the hidden spot. "Here's Kumarbi."
The half dozen people in the room all automatically bowed down before the child. After several microns the man who had already spoken snapped his fingers and pointed. A woman took the baby from Den. Someone else opened the cart and pulled out Kammy's body. They pulled off her clothes and handed them to another woman, who immediately started changing. "You have done well," the man said to Den. "You will be rewarded. We can take care of things from here."
Without having to be asked, Den left. Although he would have liked to have known more of the plan, he knew that wasn't how things worked. He returned to his own shared quarters and lay down. Soon he was fast asleep, dreaming of his Master.

The woman hurried as she walked. She wasn't sure which was more annoying, the eye patch or the hood that she was wearing over her head. She had to admit, though, that for their purposes, she did look like the baby's mother. She held him close as she walked, knowing that they still had several more centars before he would wake up. What a precious child he was! She hoped that he wouldn't be too distressed when he awoke, not seeing his mother or anything familiar. But soon he would have a new home and a new family, one that had been hand-picked by his father. The woman wasn't really sure how that worked, many survivors had received visions from their Master but she, ashamedly, hadn't. She hoped and prayed that after her part in rescuing his son that her Master would bless her with a vision as well.
The baby in her arms and a bag that had belonged to his mother over her shoulder, the woman approached the shuttle. "Name?" she was asked as she walked up to the door.
"Kammy," she quickly replied, her voice low. "My son is Turner." She tried not to stumbled over the disgusting name.
"Do you need a seat for the baby?"
"No," she replied quickly. "He's a good boy, he'll just sleep in my arms."
"Okay." The man made a notation on the device in his hands. "Have a good flight."
The woman boarded the shuttle and took a seat in the back. She held Kumarbi close and rocked him gently. A few centons later the doors were closed and the engines started. As the shuttle launched the woman was sure that she would soon receive her vision.

Kammy's body was placed in a trash bin and wheeled away. No one noticed as the man, dressed as a janitor, entered the True Waste Room. Most waste on all ships was recycled, but if it couldn't be recycled it was considered true waste. He opened the door to the incinerator and dumped the body inside. He turned it up to its highest setting and waited. A few centons later a light indicated that the process was finished. Guarding his face from the heat, he opened the door. There was nothing left of the child's mother. The ashes would be used for farming, either on the Agro Ship or on the small garden on the Callisto. A fitting end, the woman who gave life to his Master's son would now be giving life in other ways. His Master would be pleased.

Roxzanna-Rizou looked around the shuttle, noting that the handsome Lt. Hush sat, seemingly at ease, in the seat opposite her, his eyes scanning the silent prisoners. She had known that Warriors stuck by each other in most cases, but this one's completely unhelpful attitude intrigued her. There was a set to his jaw that had been absent when she had attempted to question the Black Shirt. It could just be Warrior loyalty, but Rizou's reporter's instinct was prickling.
She whispered to N'Rondar, who was fiddling with his vidcam, "Did you notice anything unusual about Lt. Hush?"
N'Rondar barely glanced up at the lieutenant before returning attention to the lens fitting he was adjusting. "No."
Rizou rolled her eyes. Since when has this idiot ever noticed anything? But she could have sworn that as she had been settling herself in her seat that some sort of exchange had transpired between Logan and Hush. Something very friendly. "Hmmm, I wonder...," she muttered to herself as she pulled out a compact and dabbed at her face.
***********
"We're nearing the breakaway point. Be alert." Logan knew she didn't need to say it, but it felt necessary to speak and break the strange silence of this mission. "I'm going to check in back," she said as she transferred primary control to Persephone.
Sliding the door open, Logan entered the rear just in time to hear Roxzanna-Rizou, eyes and smile wide for the vidcam that her assistant was holding on her, begin speaking in dramatic tones. All eyes in the shuttle were on her and Hush had come to his feet.
This is Roxzanna-Rizou coming to you from Gold Shuttle Two, enroute to the Prison Barge on special assignment. Onboard are the surviving members of the New Secret Survival Society who are being transferred to carry out their sentences of lifetime imprisonment for their crimes against the Fleet. In charge of this important mission is Major Brie of Gold Squadron, who as you all will recall was taken hostage by the madman Pierce and his followers as part of their grand scheme to take over the Fleet.
The prisoners were staring at Rizou and more than one of them shifted in their seat. Hush and Duran watched them closely, but they made no move to interrupt the reporter who seemed to be gaining steam as she carried on with her report.
I don't have time for this. Logan's fists were clenching at her sides.
Rizou didn't even look in Logan's direction, but smiled even broader as she continued.
"But we aren't on Major Brie's shuttle. We are on the shuttle being piloted by another hero of the ruined takeover attempt of the SSS, Lieutenant Logan of Gold Squadron. If you have been keeping up with my recent reports you will recall that Lt. Logan is a valued Warrior of the Callisto and also the current love interest of Major JustinB of Black Squadron. Sources have told me that the two were seen on the Starliner Alpha prior to the jump, no doubt enjoying some intimate time together before this mission. Care to comment, Lt.?"
Logan's face was red and she knew it. The first thought that came to her was exactly how she could toss this woman out of the airlock and not end up on the Prison Barge herself.
Hush was on his feet and seemed to know what Logan was thinking. He made a slight gesture with his hand as if to tell her to take a breath before speaking. She met his eyes and found a calm reserve there that she needed to draw from.
Taking a deep breath, she turned to Rizou and said matter of factly, "No, I would not care to comment. Personal matters aren't a part of this mission and you'd do well to remember that."
Rizou's smile never faltered. "Really? Well, I think the rest of the Fleet and especially your lover back on the Callisto would be most interested in this mission and the apparent friendliness between you and your fellow lieutenant, Hush, here. Tell me, Lt. Logan, are you always so physically affectionate with your fellow Warriors? Or just the handsome ones?"
"What?" Logan was completely taken aback.
"This reporter noticed that you and the lieutenant were very chummy before launch. heads together in whispered conversation, covert glances, a hand lingering on a shoulder for just a fraction longer than was necessary."
Logan drew herself up to her full height and stared down the reporter. "Whatever you may or may not have seen has little to do with this mission and I suggest you stick to reporting just that."
*************************
Comeek was staring at Logan. He was enjoying the full display of Logan's temper. She was brilliant, like a supernova. Her cheeks were flushed, her shoulders back, hands on hips. Her hair was pulled back, but he imagined it coming down in her fury and falling around her like a sunset. He pictured another scene with her in the same position, only her heated words were directed at him.
He thrilled at the idea of teaching her her place. Showing her what her acts of defiance wrought her. Sweat started trickling down his forehead as he felt himself become excited at the prospect of taming such as she.
So wrapped up in his vision was he that it took a while for that infernal reporter's words to truly sink in. He had been completely distracted by Logan's entrance into the passenger area and had let his mind wander.
She had said...lover...Major of Black Squadron...and this puny lieutenant too...what was this? No. This is some deceitful conspiracy. Lies. Logan would never sully herself with these fools. She is mine. Mine.
Comeek watched the exchange more closely, waiting for Logan to deny these ridiculous claims.

As soon as the report came on Brie considered turning off the IFB monitor. Roxzanna-Rizou was spreading more lies without checking her facts. And who the frack cared who JustinB was dating? There was a reason that it was called a "private" life.
Still, hearing the report told Brie that everything was normal on the other shuttle. She hated the fact that they were taking different routes, but understood why. She wondered if the male prisoners were staying annoyingly quiet. Maybe Roxzanna-Rizou, without meaning to, would help the flight go faster, even if she was spreading lies.
"Remind me to file a grievance against that annoying woman with the IFB when we get back to the Callisto," Brie remarked to Brik.

"Every thing go alright?" Sobek inquired from Triton.
Triton stopped as he reached his wingman leaning against a wall in the corridor, "Ah..yeah. The launch went smoothly. Thanks for asking Sobek".
"See, what did I tell you, Triton. Persephone is one smart lady warrior. She's gonna be just fine."
"That's what Commander Sheba just told me, in a manner of words".
"You spoke to the Commander?"
"Yes. I know Commander Sheba through my cousin, Apollo. We met several yahrens ago, on the Fleets".
"Well, then, if the Commander has faith in a new pilot, then I think she knows what she's talking about, Tri".
Triton just nodded.
"Let's go finnish up on our vipers, shall we buddy?"
Triton followed Sobek as they headed once more for Gamma bay. He gave a thought to Sheba and Apollo, wondering how they manage to keep their relationship going, being on different Battlestars. He admired their strength, but knew he'd never be happy if he had to forgo being separated from Pers. That's why it was so important that she be safe, and that she return to him again.
Persephone watched her navigational monitor, as she continued listening through her head piece, carefully.
Logan seemed pleased with her co-piloting skills, and for a centon, Persephone felt at ease.
"We're nearing the breakaway point. Be alert." Logan knew she didn't need to say it, but it felt necessary to speak and break the strange silence of this mission. "I'm going to check in back," she said as she transferred primary control to Persephone.

There was one more loose end to wrap up on the Callisto. In some ways it was sad, he had provided so much useful information. He had been important as a messenger. He had rid them of that horrid woman who had blasphemed when naming their Master's son. He would do anything asked of him without question. But he also knew too much. One of their Master's rules was that no one should have more information than necessary. Too much could be traced back to him.
The woman approached the sleeping old man and took his arm. Since the old man had a condition that required a daily injection, no one would notice one more needle mark. As gently as possible she emptied the vial into his vein. He would feel no pain, she was sure of that. It would be assumed that his heart had given out in his sleep. Even an autopsy wouldn't give away the real cause of death. But there would be no autopsy. No one would care about a dead old man. No one, except for Master Pierce.
As she watched his body twitched once, then he was still. She checked his pulse...nothing. "Goodbye, sweet Den," she said, kissing him on the forehead. "You've earned this reward. Give our Master my love."

"Must we listen to that drivel?" Raina asked the guards calmly. "I would personally rather hear a report on how our brothers on the other shuttle are doing. I really don't give a frack who JustinB is having sex with. He's not worth the airtime. So please, turn it off."
"Shhhhh," Jorma ordered. "I want to hear this. JustinB...he's hot! Even if he did cause me a little bit of trouble earlier."
Raina glanced at the chrono on the wall and subtly nodded. "I asked you to turn it off," she repeated. "If you won't..." Slowly, Raina pulled her hands out from behind her back, showing that she was no longer restrained. Her wrist was bloodied from struggling with the cuffs but she showed no sign of it bothering her. She undid her seatbelt and started to stand up.
Immediately, without thinking to warn the pilots, Jorma hit the button on top of her canister, releasing the anaesthesine vapor. She didn't have time to fully comprehend what had happened as she passed out.
