"Because, quite simply, your beloved Pierce didn't want me to die."
"How the frack do you figure that?" Trula asked.
Brie rolled her eyes. "Oh come on, Trula, you were there. You SHOT me, for Sagan’s sake. Was Pierce happy with you? No, you were reprimanded for it."
"Because he planed to kill you himself," Trula reminded her.
Brie laughed. "And we all know how well THAT went."
Millie spoke up. "He was about to do it when that little..."
"The great and powerful Pierce," Brie interrupted, "stopped by a half blind med tech. If Pierce was half as omnipotent as you people seem to believe I would be dead right now...unless he wanted me to live."
"Enough of this," Raina said, authority in her voice. "It's time to contact the Galactica."
Brie laughed again. "The Galactica? From this shuttle? In our current position in the fleet?"
"And why not?" Raina wanted to know.
"Look," Brie started, "in the almost 29 yahrens since we fled the colonies I've spent the entire time either in the military or in training for the military. And one of the first things that I learned is about signal strength. The Galactica is on the other side of the fleet. This older shuttle doesn't have a signal nearly powerful enough to make it that far. If you don't believe me, ask Millie or Tanya. They're Academy flunk-outs, but I'm sure they learned at least that much."
Neither former Blackshirt said anything but they both nodded.
"But there is a way to contact the Galactica," Brie said. She had a feeling that Brik was awake, just faking sleep, listening to the conversation. "I'm just not going to tell you what it is."

What's that smell?
FRACK!!!!
. . . Darkness . . .
Hmm...he'd always heard that when you passed out (as opposed to simply falling asleep) that your vision left you in a tunnel-like fashion and returned the same way.
Well, one more mystery-answer confirmed apparently. Along with the headache and the bad after-taste. Obviously he was still in the shuttle and the fair assumption was that the prisoners were in control. Otherwise he figured that his wrists would be free.
Just like he was taught by the Academy (and every action-packed entertainment vid), he faked his consciousness and tried to listen and gather intel. It may be important later, if he lived of course.
Ah, Brie seemed to have figured out that there's not much love lost between the members of this "Society" (which is part of why he always figured there plans went wrong, too much bickering and self-centering). Brik also became aware of three other things: 1-He had new respect for the Major 2-Trula was QUITE insane and needed a beating 3-They had neglected to remove the combat power gloves from the pugilist.
Now...how to get his hands free...

The shuttle ride was short. The woman with the baby in her arms disembarked and then, making sure that she wasn't being followed, proceeded to the meeting spot. Once there they removed Kumarbi's clothes and placed them on another child the same size. Kumarbi was dressed again and carefully placed in a bag that had been specially designed to carry him without anyone knowing what precious cargo slept inside. "Humble beginnings," had become the rallying call of the New Secret Survival Society.
Still dressed as Kammy, the woman and the other child caught a shuttle that would take them to a freighter across the fleet. Although it was still important to leave the impression that it was Kammy and her child, there were no annoying security cameras like on the Callisto. The decoy child's real mother rode on the same shuttle, she and her son would return to their home later.
Hidden away, the baby that used to be known as Turner was taken aboard a different shuttle. He would be passed off several times before making it to his final destination.

Raina approached where Brie was seated on the floor. "You'll tell me how to contact the Galactica, and you'll tell me now." She kicked Brie hard in the stomach. Brie immediately threw up on Raina's boots.
"That was a brilliant thing to do, considering that I've already had a bad reaction to the vapor," Brie said a few microns later.
"Tell me how to contact the Galactica!" Raina ordered.
"Or what, you're going to kill me?" Brie laughed again. For someone who kept getting sick, had been taken prisoner and was probably going to die she was very much enjoying herself. "With what? I made sure that there were no weapons on this shuttle. Besides, if I don't contact our viper escort in the next 5 centons, her orders are to destroy the shuttle immediately. We'll ALL be dead." It was a bluff, but they seemed to believe her. "So if you want something from me, it's going to cost you."
Raina thought for a micron. "What is it you want?"
"Undo my hands from behind," Brie said seriously. "You can redo them in the front. And I won't even try anything when you're doing it."
As soon as the words left Brie's mouth the shuttle veered sharply to the right. "Um, Raina," Millie stammered, "I can't find the..."
"The stabilizer is on the second tier, third switch from the left," Brie said quickly. Millie flipped the switch and the shuttle regulated. "See, giving me partial use of me hands might be a good idea, especially since it seems like your two quote-unquote pilots lied about their skills on their resumes. So either redo my hands in the front and I'll help you contact the Galactica, or we all die...it's four centons now. And remember that on the Agro Ship Pierce did the same thing, and I didn't give him any problems. So it would be with his blessings."
The shuttle jerk again, but not as hard. "Do it," Raina said to Trula.
"But..." was Trula's reply.
"Oh good one, Trula," Brie said. "Let me guess, Pierce picked you for your quick wit and clever comebacks, right?"
Raina stared hard at Trula, who then did as she had been told. Brie's hands were recuffed in front of her. One problem down, a million more to overcome.

Hush shook his head, the fog lifting from his mind. "Thank the Lords you guys pulled this off" he said. "You can untie me now. I'm one of you."
Sid laughed. "Give me a break."
"I'm serious" Hush said. "Do you have any idea what it's like to be in Bronze Squadron? Always getting the jobs no one else wants? Your movement promised me a better life. It was an easy thing seeing the light."
Sid nodded. "I did hear that being in Bronze fracking stinks worse than over-ripe plant vapors..."
"If you are on our side, why so defensive about Logan?" Comeek asked. "You told me to get away from her. She's mine, you should know that if you're one of us."
"I only meant that you should give her some space" Hush explained. "That gas affects everyone differently. She's no good to you dead."
Sid and Comeek just looked at each other, unsure.
"What about when we got free?" Sid asked. "You didn't help with our hands. You even jumped up like you was gonna try to stop us."
Hush shook his head. "I was jumping up to help. I couldn't do anything until you guys freed yourselves. I couldn't tip myself off. Not with these traitors around." He nodded his head toward Persephone and the others.
Again Sid and Comeek just looked at each other.
"Look" Hush said. "It's like the reporter said. All that whispering and such? Logan was my contact. There was no need to gas her too. She's one of you too, just like you said."
Comeek shook his head. "Then you don't care about her?"
Hush laughed. "I have my own reward in mind. Someone from Bronze who'd never see your... our point of view. I only hope she recovers from what the cylons did to her."
Sid nodded. "I heard about that. Ally, right? She's going with Brik though, that big jerk from Gold."
Hush smiled. "That's what they think. In the new order, she's mine. And Brik will just have to get used to it."
Comeek laughed at this.
"So untie me, okay?" Hush said. "There are no weapons here. It's not like you'd be taking a big risk. Let me prove I'm telling the truth. I didn't horn in on this mission just to take a seat on the side. I've waited a long time for this moment. Don't treat me like the enemy any longer."

Logan became aware of voices. Comeek was close by. That told her that things were very wrong. Her hair had slipped out of it's knot at the back of her neck and was hanging in her face. She didn't dare move, wanting to get as much intel on the situation as she could before letting them know she was awake.
She heard Hush now, in front of her but below. He must be on the deck across from her. At first she thought the gas had made her hear things as he rattled off a speech about being on the prisoner's side, then she heard him say, "It's like the reporter said. All that whispering and such? Logan was my contact. There was no need to gas her too. She's one of you too, just like you said."
Oh he is clever. Must be one of the things that drew me to him. Promising herself that she was going to give him the biggest hug she could manage at her first opportunity, she stayed quiet, feigning sleep as Hush continued to convince them he was on their side.
Comeek was silent for a micron. With Chip in the cockpit, he seemed to have taken over leadership of the prisoners. Logan also knew from her experience with Pierce's group on the Agro ship that he hadn't trusted any of his followers. They all knew pieces of the plan, but no o0ne person had been given too much information. This worked for them and against them. Not being able to truly tell who was on their side wa a major disadvantage of Pierce's paranoid leadership style. But it was very helpful for the members of the shuttle crew now.
No one had m0oved to take off Hush's restraints so logan decided to help things along. She moaned lowly and shifted her position in the chair. Comeek was at her side instantly, kneeling beside her. Her eyes opened to see him inches away and she had to use all her self-control not to recoil from the greasy man. "Logan, are you alright/" he asked.
Logan raised her head and looked around the cabin, noting everyone's positions. The last person she looked at was Hush, seated on the floor in front of her. She looked at Comeek and said, "Why am I tied up? And why in the name of the Master is he?" She inclined her head at Hush and gave Comeek her best uncomprehending stare. "He's part of the Society. Just like I am. And this mission won't be successful if you don't untie both of us right this micron."
Sid and Vreemer looked uncertain, but neither moved. Comeek glanced toward the cockpit and called out, "Chip. She's awake! Get in here!"

Skyler sat in his Viper, in thought as his eyes scanned the instruments in front of him and the open space around them. He had thought that Brie's shuttle had started to bank on his monitor, but he was to far away from them to be certian. Sure he could track them, but knowing percise movements was next to impossible. He wasn't going to open a channel and out right ask. If something was wrong, Brie, Brik and Amy could handle it just fine. He had hoped Brie and Brik were able to handle it before Amy had to. In a couple of centons they would be at the next way point and one step closer to finishing this mission.

As Persephone slowly gained her vision, though still very blurred, she began to make out fuzzy forms standing a little way across from her. She struggled to clear her sight to see who and what was going on around her. Voices were slightly muffled due to her just coming out of the temporary unconscious state. Swallowing hard to moisten her mouth from the apparent dryness left over from inhaling anaesthesine vapor, and the bitterness, which felt like she had eaten a Scorpian Bitternut, Persephone stayed still unsure of whether to move or not. She had to survey her surroundings first. Figure out what the frack was going on.
She then realized a few of the prisoners were standing in front and near her. Though not all facing her. Turning her head only slightly, with her eyes just squinting so to not attract attention, she saw Comeek looming over ... NO...Logan? But how? What in Hades Hole is going on here???, she asked herself.
She couldn't remember what happened between being at the controls of the shuttle cockpit, and seeing Logan embed some mysterious code into the navigational system at the controls. She was about to ask her wingman what she was doing, when...NOTHING. After that, darkness, and a grogged sleeping state took over all her senses. Had the prisoners somehow managed to free themselves, and release the gas into the cockpit? That's it, she thought, further thinking, they've hijacked us! Holy Frack!! Oh steady Pers..head ache...Lord it hurts!
She could make out Rizzou and her crew and the sentries tied up and sitting slouched in the seats across from her towards the back of the shuttle and still very under the effects of the vapor.
Her wingman looked to be still out cold, with that sleeze ball of a thing, Comeek, drooling at the mouth and probably imagining other things in his head that she shuddered to give a thought to.
Suddenly Logan moaned, shifting her position in her seat. "Logan, are you alright?", Comeek asked Logan.
Like as if he really cared, Persephone thought.
Comeek glanced toward the cockpit and called out, "Chip. She's awake! Get in here!"
Scum of all Cyrannus! I'm not about to allow them to get away with this! Persephone felt a built up reserve of courage, a strength so powerful, and a determination to turn the situation back to her fellow warriors and herself, kick into overdrive.
Suddenly a name came back to her. Icarus. Who is Icarus? she wondered, only recalling broken fragments of her time under the gas. Then she remembered she saw her mother. Like an astroid coming at her, faster than the speed of light, the things her mother told her came screaming back to her. Her bother was ALIVE! Ganymede is on the Celestra! He's been on the electronics ship all this time! Persephone wanted to jump up for joy, but now was not the time to be showing any display of movement. She spoke in her head, thanking her mother for coming to her. If only on the Astral plane. Which is what must have happened after being knocked out from the gas. She must have projected her astral body and left her physical body for a while. For now, she had to use her warrior tactics and play dead to conceal her waking state from the prisoner's vain belief of their deranged idea of some last heroic magnum opus, in honor of their so-called master. For the centon, let them think they have control.
Her eyes slowly scanned the other prisoner, Sid, who bore holes into Lieutenant Hush across from her. Hush seemed to be fully awake, and also tied up. Trying very hard to convince the prisoners to untie him.
He wasn't getting anywhere yet, but she felt he would eventually. She listened in on the conversation between Hush and the prisoners, as she continued to survey the seating area.
Vreemer mulled around nearest to her, seeing him glance at her now and then to see if she was awake too.
She remembered it was him who had pursed his lips together to form a kiss at her, as she passed by him, while he was being searched before boarding the shuttle. She did not shudder this time looking at him.
They are ALL going to be transferred to where they belong, and that's all there is to it, Persephone surmised to herself. They're not going to get away with this.
By the Lords of Kobol, creation is not yet finished. If they think they're in their summer of one last glory for their twisted master, they are mistaken. Is my name sake not the Goddess of Spring, wife of King Hades? I'll give them Hades if they want! Persephone started to form an attack plan to get back control with her fellow warriors. First she would employ her skill at freeing her bound wrists. She had a little trick up her sleeve that she learned many yahrens ago with Chiron. Albeit, that was born from the little bedroom games they played, but that was neither here nor there right now. All that mattered was she knew how to untie herself!
She gave heart-felt thanks for the crazy foreplay antics Chiron and her used to get up to. She hoped her mother wasn't hearing her thoughts right now. She then turned her thoughts to the lucky talisman Triton gave her. Okay, I need both of you boys to help me out now, she said in her mind to Chiron and Triton. For the Glory of the Colonies! She began to quietly fiddle with the rope tied around her wrists.

Listening to the conversation was actually entertaining and Brik found himself amused despite the gravity of things.
When the shuttle veered suddenly and Millie called, almost child-like, for assistance he actually had to stop himself from giggling. The "almost overdue for radio contact" bit was a very nice touch even though it was one of the oldest tricks in the Strategy Book. And these idiots fell for it.
He shouldn't be surprised. Anyone that can be talked and prodded into the acts of treachery and violence that they've admitted to...well, he didn't really expect much. They've actually achieved more than he thought them mentally capable of. BUT...Millie "the pilot" still had had no idea where the stabilizer was.
And Brie was amazing! Now he understood even more clearly where her respected status came from.
At any rate, time was wasting and he had to get his hands free if at all possible. Turning his focus to examining his unseen bonds (while remaining in the ruse of being unconscious) he lost even more respect for these treasonous daggits. The person that tied him had been proficient but by no means expert with his bonds. It would take a few centons but he was positive that he would soon be free.
Odd...he found himself thinking of Ally.

The most important piece of information that Brie needed to know was how well planned out the takeover had been. If it had just been the five women, looking for a way to escape, that was one thing but it if was organized...that meant that the New Secret Survival Society was still around. That thought terrified Brie more than her current situation. She needed to somehow find out. "The Galactica?" Raina reminded her.
"Oh yeah," Brie said. "Help me up." Raina looked at Trula, who rolled her eyes before helping Brie to a standing position. "Thanks, Trula. Now Tanya, I'll need your seat." She looked at Raina. "Unless, of course, you'd rather me pilot."
"Wait a centon," Tanya protested.
"Fine," Brie said with a grin. "I can stand and still reach the controls that I need. But personally, if I was holding someone hostage, I'd rather that they be seated. It's much easier to attack from a standing position."
"She's right," Raina said. "Tanya, give the Widow your seat." Tanya moved but didn't seem to be too happy about it.
"Comfortable, Widow?" Trula asked sarcastically.
"Actually, it's a little warm in here," Brie said. "The thermostat is on the wall, Raina, you wouldn't mind turning it down a bit, would you?" As Raina reached up to the thermostat Brie noticed for the first time her bandaged wrist. "Is that how you got out of the cuffs?" she asked. Raina nodded. "It must have hurt. One thing I've been trying to figure out, how come you weren't affected by the anaesthesine vapor? Jorma or Janey must have released it when they realized that you were loose."
"We held our breath," Raina lied. "I had been monitoring the ventilation system, we knew that the air was about to be cleaned."
"Nasty stuff, that anaesthesine vapor," Brie said. "Different people react different ways. As you noticed, I'm allergic. Lieutenant Brik here?" Brie pointed. "A small amount drops him into a very deep sleep. He could be out for centars." She hoped that they had bought her lie, because she was quite sure that Brik was wide awake. "What about the two in the back? If my calculations are right they should be awake by now. Don't you want to bring them up here, have all your enemies in one place? Besides, two trained in hand to hand combat against a former Pyramid dealer...it just doesn't seem fair."
Having heard enough, Trula, slapped Brie across the face. "Enough stalling. Contact the viper, now!"
"Oh yeah, I almost forgot about that," Brie said. "And less than a centon to go before she blows up this shuttle. That wouldn't have been a whole lot of fun."
