"You'll do fine. Just promise me something."
"What is it?" Brik looked concerned.
"Keep your cool." Coming from Logan, that was all the warning he needed. Hmmn...Logan didn't say such things casually and he had learned to pay attention when she was being cryptic. He had also learned not to ask for details right away. if she could give them she would've. It seemed that it might be even more important than he thought to converse with Brie. Then his comm buzzed. Brie. Lieutenant, tomorrow should be fine, but check to make sure I’m there before you show up. Major Brie.
Thinking to himself that it was about to get interesting, he was glad that Logan and Persephone were busy with their ships, and a good thing too. Well, that was what he actually came for himself so now was as good a time as any. And it would allow him to think before talking with the Major. Walking past some diagnostic equipment, Brik had the first glimpse of his faithful Viper since the battle against the basestar. Frack. That was the battle in which his ship earned her name. Ally. What a long day it's been.

"At ease, Ensign," Brie said to Persephone without slowing down. "See you at 17:00. And if you're looking for your friend Triton, check the Officers' Club." She continued towards Alpha Launch Bay, wondering if Logan would still be there.

Sitting in the cockpit of her Viper, Logan wiped sweat from her brow as she finished calibrating her scanners. She had noticed they were a bit shaky in her diagnostic scan and insisted on fixing them herself, much to the tech's chagrin who had ended up walking away in a huff, muttering about "Training for a job he never got to do."
Persephone had exited Alpha Bay some time ago, even though she would have stayed around if Logan had insisted. The new ensign's ship was prepped and she had done well. No need for her to feel like she had to stay with her new wingman indefinitely. Logan knew the girl could use a break and had insisted she go get some air and a well-deserved drink.
The Lt. was satisfied with her new wing assignment. She never doubted Major Brie's choices. But she was relieved that Persephone seemed capable and reliable.
Brik had wandered off in the direction of his own ship after hearing her rather cryptic warning about his own interview with the Inquisitor from the Galactica. She could tell by the gleam in his eye that they were on the same page. Working so closely together over the yahrens and sharing a firm bond of friendship led to understandings between them that they rarely had to put into words. She was sure that some of the crew believed that she, Brik and Skyler were telepaths because of their knack for knowing exactly what was on the other's minds with few words spoken.
Skyler was on her mind at the micron. She wasn't worried about him actually being brought up on any charges. That is, unless he got indignant at the suggestion of wrongdoing among Gold Squadron on the last mission. No. Not Skyler. He'll do fine. Brik on the other hand...
Her rather large friend caused her to smile. Hot tempered when his loyalty was questioned, he was so much like her.
"Lt.?"
So lost in her thoughts, Logan didn't hear the voice at first as she flipped toggles and scanned readouts.
"Lt. Logan," the voice came, louder this time.
Looking down from her ship, she saw Lt. Baris standing there. "Sorry to interrupt," he began.
"Why, Lt. Baris. We have to stop meeting like this." She smiled as she started to climb down from the cockpit. He backed up to give her room.
He seemed to be uncomfortable as he fidgeted with the collar on his uniform. "I. I just came from seeing Captain Skyler."
Instantly fearful that something had gone wrong, she looked at Baris intently. "What's happened?"
He didn't seem to understand her at first. Realization dawned on him and he held up his hands placatingly. "No, no. He's fine. I just wanted to pass along a message."
Noticeably relieved, Logan crossed her arms and waited.
"He is under guard from the Inquisitor's Office and isn't allowed visitors. He thought you would be worried. He said to tell you that the Major had seen him and he'd be back soon."
Logan read between the lines. Brie's call about not attempting to see him had been wise. The Inquisitor would have noted if all of Gold had started trying to bust in to see him. And he was probably being listened in on as well.
But Brie had seen him, which meant she would have found a way to let him know that Logan and Brik were fine. That made her feel better.
Baris was staring at her, awaiting some response. She reached out and patted him on the arm in a reassuring manner. "Sorry, Lt. Thank you for relaying the message. How soon do you think he'll be released?"
Baris shook his head. "He's healing. When he'll stay still long enough." He smirked and Logan couldn't suppress the image of an unhappy Skyler bursting to get out of that bed and do something.
"What about Bronze? Ally and Janey?"
She was surprised when he gave the answer. She didn't think he'd tell her anything. "Between you and me, Lt. they both survived, but their recoveries will be slow. And in one case especially, the recovery may never be complete."
Logan felt like she'd been hit in the stomach. For some reason she couldn't wxplain, she knew he was talking about Ally.
"Can I see them?"
Baris looked her straight in the eye, which she appreciated. There was warmth there and compassion. "I can't let anyone besides family in to see Janey at the micron. But it could be possible later on. As for Ally..."
Logan didn't break eye contact with him. He wanted to tell her. She could feel it. "Yes?"
"She's been moved. Before the jump. She's with her family in specialized medical facilities on the Starliner Alpha."

Taking the route back to her quaters from Beta deck, after bumping into Brie on her way up form Alpha Bay, she thought she would join Triton for a drink. But first she wanted to freshen up in her quarters.
Walking in world of her own, she almost didn't hear Triton's voice.
"Hey Pers!"
She turned around after his second attempt to catch her attention.
Turning her head, her long hair swished from side to side, and her emerald eyes delighted to see her favourite space-farer.
"Hey Triton....where did you come from?"
Finally catching up to her, he leaned his head forward, dishevelled hair falling into his eyes, he replied, "I was calling your name out twice from behind".
"I must have been deep in thought...sorry". She looked him up and down, and said, "Where have you been?? Your uniform is a mess!".
Taking a weary sigh with a more than displeased look on his face, "You'll never guess..", his blue eyes staring at Persephone as if he was thinking she was the cause of his unpleasant senton.
Persephone wondered , Now why is he looking at me like that for? "By the smell of it, I would think you were doing Turbo Flush duty" She couldn't help but giggle remembering their earlier jovial behaviour.
"....so where were you? Checking for Solium leaks somewhere? Judging from all the stains on your tunic"?
Triton interrupted her assumptions.
"These are not from checking Solium leaks. I did do Turbo Flush duty". He now blinked his eyes rapidly with a grim look on his face. A sign he was not impressed.
"You're kidding, right?", she looked at him confused, but with half a smile.
"I'm not kidding, Pers".
Her eyes were wide now from the surprise of Triton being assigned to a lowly duty.
Triton closed his eyes for a micron with his hand raised at eye level, fingers slightly apart in a questioning gesture, he began to say, "Let me ask you something. Did you repeat what we were joking about this morning to Brie?"
"Of course not. Our little joke went no further than you and I, Triton. By all the Lillium Moons, what would make you think I would do such a thing?"
"I got paged to Major Brie's office not long after I spoke with you in the very corridor close to from Brie's quarters. Then when I arrived there, she gave me orders to report to the Officer's Club".
Triton took a small step to the side and stepped back again to face Persephone again. He continued relaying his story.
"The when I arrived at the O.C. the bartender told me I had duty to clean the turbo flush rooms. At first I thought it was just some kind of a prank, but Osh was as serious as an impending super nova, about it".
Persephone pressed her lips together hard, trying ever so hard not to laugh. As disgusting as Triton's unfortunate duty sounded, she couldn't help but see the funny side to it all. Her eyes gave her thoughts away.
"Are you laughing at me, Pers? You find this all quite amusing don't you"?
She cleared her throat, and wiped off her smile, "Oh nooo, Trtiton. I would never think that....really". She gave way to an outburst of laughter.
Triton looked as though he was about to get mad with her, but a grin began to creep across his face, as he tried to hide it by looking down at the floor. Finally, he relented to the moment, saying, "Fine....I guess I got what I deserved making fun of you with your duffle bag this morning". His blue eyes lighted up with laughter.
"I hate to say this, Tri, but I tried to tell you that were orders for any one..."
"Yeah, yeah..I know. Anyone related to Commander Apollo, would be assigned turbo flush duties...blah blah".
Triton flashed her a sarcastic smile.
"You know, I think you could use a turbo wash..and soon, Triton".
Persephone winced her eyes at him.
"Oh I can't wait to, believe me"!
"Then I"ll catch up with you, when you're decent again"?
Triton started to walk off to his billet, but turned back to reply Persephone.
"What makes you think I'll be decent "? He winked at her, but he looked cute with his hair all messy.
"Er, Triton, you didn't run the turbo flush brush through your hair too, by any chance?" She couldn't resist poking him further.
Triton shook his head, saying, "That's cute Pers...real cute", and kept walking in pursuit of a free turbo wash cubicle in his quarters. A few fellow squadron warriors passed him and gave him strange looks, grinning to one another at Triton's appearance.
She giggled and thought he was being a better sport than she thought he would be. She made her way back to her own billet, she couldn't wait to tell Misty the hilarious story. Wait till Helix hears about it...he'll have a field day with it! , she further pondered.

Brie entered the Alpha Launch Bay. She took a deep breath, taking it all in. A viper pilot never tired of the sights, sounds and smells of a launch bay. Brie spotted a mechanic working on a viper. There was no doubt in her mind that all Gold Squadron vipers would be repaired and ready by the time they were out of the jump, Gold Squadron mechanics were the best. Brie approached the man. He was so dirty and grease covered that she wasn't sure which mechanic he was. "Have you seen Lieutenant Logan?" she asked him.
"In her cockpit, last time I noticed," was his reply.
"Thanks. How do things look?"
"We're ahead of schedule, Major," the mechanic informed her.
"I don't doubt it for a micron," Brie said. "Keep up the good work." After taking a micron to glance in the direction of her own viper Brie headed towards Logan's, hoping that she would still be there.

After leaving Brie I went straight to Fleet Security. It took me about thirty centons to get the paperwork in order and the charges processed. Once completed, I headed to the Black Squadron ready room. As I walked in I saw Captain Kris talking to Ensign Missygoat. When they saw me they snapped to attention.
"At ease. I was just wandering by and wanted to see if anyone was about. Missygoat, it's good to know you have made contact with Kris here."
"Missygoat and I were just discussing some Black Squadron history. You know, past missions, past squadron leaders an the fact you have been unopposed in the past two elections. Talking about that aint the Black Squadron elections due sometime soon" said Kris.
"To tell you the truth Kris, I can't remember when they are due, but when they are I am sure we will be notified." I replied.
"Major, what would you do when you are no longer squadron leader?" asked a curious Missygoat.
"Well Ensign, I would ask for a position where I still saw combat or at the very least ask to stay here even if it meant a demotion. Flying is my life and I don't think I would last long on the bridge. Look I go to do some more things before the end of shift, so I will catch you two later on."
With that I left Kris and Missygoat to their own devices and headed to my next destination.

There were a couple of figures near Logan's viper, but the lighting made it impossible to tell who they were. "Lieutenant Logan?" Brie called loudly. "It's Major Brie. If you're here, I need to talk to you."

After freshening up, and giving her hair a brush, Persephone sat on the side of her bunk, remembering her dream from early this morning. All she could see in her mind, was Ganymede's face. He was saying something to her, but what?
Why can't I remember? she asked herself.
Rising to her feet, she decided to go to the Officer's Club for a drink with Triton. As she left her billet and entered the corridor, someone grabbed her from behind and pulled her into the small corridor leading off the main passage, which was located between the women's and men's quarters of Gold Squadron. It was not always amply lit with light, only that of one light at the rear of the corridor, farthest from the main hallway.
Persephone was taken by surprise, and didn't know what was happening. Who in Hades was grabbing her?

"Lieutenant Logan?" Brie called loudly. "It's Major Brie. If you're here, I need to talk to you."
Logan looked over Baris' shoulder as the figure of Major Brie walked towards them.
"Major. I'm here." Logan waved her over before focusing on Baris again. "Lt. Thank you for telling me. And I have to admit, I'd like to know more, if it is possible. Can I stop by Med Lab later so we can continue this conversation?"
Baris nodded and didn't look adverse to a visit from the Lt. later. "Of course."
Major Brie had stopped just short of them and Lt. Baris made a swift exit after nodding in greeting to the Major.
Logan picked up her uniform jacket and slipped it on, trying in a vain attempt to pull her unruly hair back into some semblance of tidiness. "What can I do for you, Major?"

Brie grinned as Logan tried to pull herself together. She hoped that the newer recruits would somehow learn a thing or two about military decorum. She glanced around, there was no one else in the immediate vicinity. Still, she kept her voice down. "I've seen Skyler. He's fine, and if he'll sit still for a micron and allow himself to heal he'll be released soon. I'm rescinding my earlier order, you can see him if you want, just keep the door open and talk loudly. No mention of the mission or the inquisition can be made, obviously, but you might want to remind him of a time or two where losing his temper was a bad idea. He's not under guard, per say, but there's a pompous lieutenant from the Galactica hanging around to make sure no one is trying to compare stories." She paused. "I also talked to Lazant. He assured me that none of this is coming from him."
"And you believe him?" Logan asked.
"Yes," Brie immediately replied. "Major Lazant may be a bit overbearing sometimes, but I'm really getting sick of my people judging him instead of giving him a chance to do his job. And believe me, when Skyler is back on active duty he and I are going to have a long talk about his treatment of Lazant during the briefing because Skyler was extremely unprofessional. But that's beside the point. The questions aren't coming from Lazant. In fact, the so-called inquiry isn't really coming from anyone. I also talked with Commander Sheba about what's going on. She reminded me that sometimes it's better to clear all suspicion ahead of time. If Skyler's actions towards Lazant aren't investigated, there will always be a dark cloud hanging over his head, an imaginary black mark on his record about what might have happened. But in questioning things now, all suspicion will be alleviated. So in a backwards way this is good for Skyler."
