She struggled to get free of whoever was holding her, but just as she felt the person's grasp had loosened, she felt warm lips upon the back of her neck. Persephone spun around to see that her abductor was none other than Triton, with that unmistakable smile that made her knees almost hopeless. Grinding her heels into the floor, was all she could do to stop herself from crumpling in a heap.
"Triton, I was almost ready to kick the felgercarb out of you at light speed!"
"Hey, hey...I didn't mean to scare you Pers, I just wanted to surprise you". Triton chuckled with a look of diablos in his eyes.
"You better thank you lucky stars I didn't use my prize defense manoeuvre on you.." But her words were cut off as Triton leaned in and kissed her.
They lingered for what seemed like millacentons in that kiss, until the footsteps of approaching personel in the main corridor, interrupted their first private moment of the day.
They quickly stood apart.
"You know, we've got to stop hiding in the corridors Tri...we'll get caught one day".
"Pers, now what fun would that be"? Triton winked at her, with a breaking smile. "Besides didn't I tell you not to assume I'd be decent"?
"Alright hot shot, why don't we go get a drink, and see if I can find you a buzzer that might just make you respectable."
"May all the good fortune of the Lillium Moons be with you on that one, Pers", replied Triton as they walked back out into the open hallway and made their way to the club.

". . . If Skyler's actions towards Lazant aren't investigated, there will always be a dark cloud hanging over his head, an imaginary black mark on his record about what might have happened. But in questioning things now, all suspicion will be alleviated. So in a backwards way this is good for Skyler." "That sounds just fine Major, I hope that you're correct." Both officers flinched slightly at being surprised by Brik. He smiled. Logan just grinned ever so slightly and shook her head at her friend. After so many yahrens, she shouldn't be surprised. In fact, she probably wasn't. "Sorry to barge in Major but I was checking my Viper and heard you call out to Logan and decided that now was as good a time as any to talk. Especially given the opportunity to talk to both of you at the same time. So, I hope you'll forgive the intrusion..." He grinned at them in a surprisingly sheepish manner. "...But please, continue."

Brie was slightly upset with herself that she hadn't heard Brik approaching. Her instincts were usually so much better than that. She also wasn't sure when Gold Squadron had become so lax. There had been a time when a private conversation would remain just that, especially if the squadron's CO was involved. Barging in on conversations, joking loudly about being "above" menial work, arguing in the hallways dressed only in a bathrobe, thinking that all inappropriate behavior would be forgiven because of a fracking smile...Brie was starting to think that a squadron meeting was long overdue. "Now is as good a time as any for whom, Lieutenant?" she asked, glancing at her chrono. "Not that it's really any of your business, but I have somewhere that I need to be in a few centons. If you had wanted to speak with me today you should have requested today, instead of tomorrow, I would have made the time." She softened her tone, Brik hadn't really done anything wrong. She looked back at Logan. "But as I was saying you can see Skyler. Just make sure that you subtly stress that he needs to keep his temper. Talk about something, anything, besides the mission. And if he mentions Lazant, change the subject."

Logan could tell that Brie wasn't pleased with Brik's interruption of their conversation. She also knew that it could be easy to forget at times that there were strict protocols to be followed since so many of the Warriors had formed friendships. They rarely used their ranks among themselves, unless junior officers or civilians were present. But they did have an image to uphold, especially to the newer, less experienced officers who looked to them for guidance. Thankfully, no one was within earshot of their current conversation.
"But as I was saying you can see Skyler. Just make sure that you subtly stress that he needs to keep his temper. Talk about something, anything, besides the mission. And if he mentions Lazant, change the subject."
"Understood, Major." Logan knew her next act would be a visit to Skyler. She wasn't worried about being subtle in her conversation with him. They had known each other long enough that what Logan didn't say would clue Skyler in to what was going on better than anything she did say.
She was relieved to hear that the questioning had only been a precaution. And despite her peronal feelings for the man, she had to admit that if she had been in Captain Lazant's boots, she would have been indignant at being undermined as well.
And she was also pondering continuing her conversation with Lt. Baris. She wanted to know more about Ally's injuries and her prognosis.
They would be coming out of the jump soon and she had heard a rumor that a briefing would be held shortly for the command staff. After the drama of the last mission, she wondered what could possibly be next.
"Major. Do you have any idea what awaits us in the Borreck Cluster?," she asked, knowing full well that Brie couldn't tell her anything officially. But moving on to the next task always settled Logan's nerves. She wasn't one to sit around and wait.
She also wondered who would lead the squadron with Skyler in Med Lab and so many of Gold still recovering from the last mission. She wondered if Brie was back to flight status. She hoped she was, because she trusted Brie, personally and professionally.
"With Gold in the state it is at the micron, I'd just like to be as prepared as possible."

"The state of Gold Squadron is actually quite good at the moment," Brie replied, surprised by the comment. "Skyler is the only one still in the medlab, and everyone else," she looked directly at Brik, "should have returned to full active duty by the time we’re out of the jump. Of course Captain Hawke and Lieutenant Haidee are exceptions, but they're both special cases. So we're good to go. As far as the next system, I haven't heard anything but rumors so I can't really fill you in on that. I should know more after the senior staff meeting." She glanced at her chrono again. "I'm a bit rushed for time. If you need anything else, just let me know." Brie hurried away, wondering if Persephone would be on time with her laundry.

"So what would the lady like?", asked Triton.
"Hmm...I think just a lemon soda for me."
As they took up their seats at a table, Persephone was lost in thought about her brother again.
"So what time you have to pick up the Major's laundry"?
"Pers"?
"Oh I'm sorry..just thinking about something, Triton", she replied.
"Let me guess. You're thinking what colour dress you're going to wear to our date"?
Persephone glanced up at Triton from her drink, "Tentative date. And no I wasn't thinking that at all".
Triton grinned at her, "Then you were thinking about our kiss in the dark corridor, and how spontaneously romantic I am"? Triton quickly raised his eyebrows up and down cheekily.
"If you did that ten centons ago, still wearing that turbo flush fragon of yours, let's just say, that's not the only thing you would be wearing".
"Hey, that wasn't my fault the Major decided to assign me to that job, Pers".
"Oh nooo, not at all your doing, Triton".
They shared a chuckle.
"So what were you so deep in thought about just now"?
She took a deep sigh and answered, "My brother, Gany. I dreamed of him early this morning, and it seemed so real. He was telling me something, but I can't remember what it was".
Triton's blue eyes looked concerned at her. "Well, if you want to talk about it, you know I'm here. You look worried about it."
"Thanks Tri. Maybe I just need to think harder about it. Perhaps it will come back to me".
She looked at her chrono. "Oh Frack...it's almost time to pick up Brie's laundry"!
With that, she rose from her chair and told Triton she would see him later, and hastened out of the officer's club, and off to the laundry quarters.

Upon arriving back at her office, Brie wasn't sure whether or not she was surprised that Amy wasn't there. She assumed that her daughter was probably somewhere talking with Charybdis. Hopefully just talking, they certainly needed to. Brie felt slightly guilty about the way that she had treated them earlier, but Amy needed to know that duty came first with Brie...always. Noting a strong smell, Brie changed the kitten's litter box. She then glanced at her chrono. "Three centons and counting, Ensign Persephone," she said out loud.

While waiting Brie checked her messages. She smiled, one of them would most likely make Persephone very happy. Funny how timing worked out sometimes. She sent a message to the Officers' Mess, requesting that two dinners be brought to her office in a centar or so, one vegetarian and the other not. Making such a request was one of the privileges of leadership, a privilege that she tried not to take advantage of too often. There was a really sweet older man named Den who would usually bring her the food, he had promised her that whenever she wanted anything he'd do his best to oblige. He was always trying to get her to talk......she sniffed the air, then turned up the filtration system. Living with a kitten was going to take some getting used to. She wondered again where Amy was and made a quick call to change it to three dinners, in case Amy returned and hadn't eaten. She didn't want Amy to feel like she wasn't welcome just because JustinB was stopping by, it had been his idea to have dinner with both of them. For the first time Brie noticed that the temperature in the room was correct instead of warm. Not giving it a second thought Brie entered her bedroom and started putting away the ever-growing pile of clothes, keeping the door open so that she could hear when Persephone arrived.

"I'm a bit rushed for time. If you need anything else, just let me know." With Brie's departure, Brik's head was pointed toward the floor in silent contemplation. Just as Logan was beginning to wonder if the big man was having some sort of post-trauma shock symptom, he moved and spoke, looking her directly in the eyes. "You know, when I came over here I was full of trepidation and confusion and thought to alleviate some of that by talking to you and the Major. But her rather sharp assessment was right on and I need to get my head in the correct orbit." He rose to his full height and glory. Logan felt stunned that she hadn't noticed the difference until the difference was removed. "We have Colonial Warriors to train and I must return to flight status as soon as possible. And I'll be ready for the Inquisitor." He turned with military precision and stalked out of the bay with renewed purpose. As he rounded into the passageway he sent a formal communication requesting an appointment with Major Brie. For tomorrow, as planned. Smiling and feeling lighter and better than he had in several cycles, he set course for medlab.

Logan shook her head as she watched Brik's retreating back disappear across the Bay. It hadn't taken much time for him to realize the wisdom of Brie's rebuke. She knew it wouldn't. Brik took being a Warrior more seriously than anyone she knew.
And I swear I think he just grew right before my eyes, swelling with that spirit of his that she knew so well. She had no doubt that he'd be ready for whatever the next system threw at them.
Looking back at her Viper wistfully, as if reluctant to leave her, she rubbed the exterior of the ship for a micron before turnign to head in the same direction that her friend had just took.
As she walked across the Bay and headed for the lift that would take her to Med Lab, she went over Major Brie's assessment of Gold Squadron's status. Funny thing was, the Major hadn't mentioned anything about Captain Amy. An oversight surely. she had heard that Amy had moved into brie's quarters temporarily after being released from Med Lab, but she knew little else about her condition.
She put it from her mind and entered the lift, heading for Med Lab and a long awaited reunion with her friend, Skyler.
