Finally Boleman thought to himself. It was all coming to an end. There were still 10 of Pierce's followers in the Callisto brig, and during the jump they had all decided to plead guilty. As Opposer, the task of meeting with each prisoner and handling all paperwork fell to him. He was finally with the last one, a young computer wiz named Comeek. "You do understand," Boleman started for the 10th time, "that you're giving up all rights to a Tribunal, and that you'll be sentenced to life on the Prison Barge?"
"Yes," Comeek replied.
"Then sign here...here...and here." Comeek did as instructed. "You will be transported shortly after we're out of the jump, per Commander Sheba's orders. Do you have any questions?"
"Lieutenant Logan," Comeek started slowly, "could you ask her to come visit me? I'd like to see her one more time."
Boleman paused, it wasn't the question he had been expecting. "I'll pass it along, but I don't know if she'll come or not." He gathered up his things and left the brig meeting room. As soon as the paperwork was filed, it would be all over. Finally.

Boleman sat quietly for several microns. He had just filed the last bit of paperwork, all of Pierce's followers had been put away. Pierce. The name alone made Boleman feel ill. The thought that Trula, his own ex-wife had been a pawn for that man...the pain they had caused for sheer enjoyment...it was a good thing Pierce was dead. Still, Boleman had profited from Pierce's mistakes. Pierce's son was now legally his son and his son's mother would soon be his wife. Kammy had accepted his proposal, although they decided to wait until after her eye surgery. Then the transformation would be complete. All reminders of Kyla would be gone, she would be Kammy in every way. There was one last thing that Boleman needed to do. He was a man of his word, so he would keep his promise. He typed out a quick message to Lieutenant Logan:
Lieutenant,
That scum Comeek from Pierce's group would like to see you before he's transferred to the Prison Barge. I have no idea why. It's totally up to you if you want to see him or not. If I were you, I wouldn't waste my time.
Opposer Boleman
He sent the message, hoping that it hadn't been a bad idea. But what could one prisoner do?

"What are you reading?" Kammy asked Boleman. She sat down in her rocking chair, shifted her baby slightly, and started to nurse the hungry infant. "Or shouldn't I ask?"
"It's just a memo," Boleman replied. He hated talking about these things with Kammy, but knew that she needed to know. "About the prisoner transfer. Commander Sheba got a copy as well. They'll be transferring the prisoners in two small shuttles not long after we enter the next system."
"Oh." Kammy didn't much like talking about that time either. "Have you told Brie about us yet?"
"I haven't have the chance," Boleman replied. "I wonder how her date went." He laughed. "I heard that Roxzanna-Rizou from IFB has been chasing redheads around and asking them if they know JustinB."
Kammy laughed. "I can't say that I blame them for wanting to keep it quiet." She put her son on her shoulder and burped him. "I hope it went well. Brie deserves to be happy for a change." There was a knocked on the door. "That's probably Den with dinner. I'll get it."

Den wheeled in the cart with the food. "So how is the most special baby in the history of mankind doing this evening? And his beautiful mother, of course."
Kammy grinned. "Den, you're such a flatterer. We're doing very well. In fact, I'm soon going to start T on solid food."
"You can't, he's too young," Den said, almost panicked.
Kammy looked surprised. "His doctor said it's fine. He's ready. It will help him to grow strong and healthy."
Den looked relieved. "Then by all means, that's what we all want. Let me know what you need and I'll make sure you get it. Enjoy your dinner."
Boleman checked the door, making sure it was locked behind the old man. "THAT was strange."
"He's just lonely, and likes our baby," Kammy replied. She smiled at her fiancé, and then at their child. "I think he has great taste."

"Report."
Den couldn't see the man, but knew that Master Pierce would want it that way. Each member of the New Secret Survival Society was told only what they needed to know, and knew only other members that were important to what task had been assigned by their master. That hadn't changed since Master Pierce had transcended to the next level of existence. In fact, it was more important than ever for those who had missed the call home to follow their Master's instructions. "Our Master's son is doing well," Den replied. "His mother told me that the doctor says he's ready for solid food."
"That is indeed good news," the voice told him. "More proof that our plan is with our Master's blessing. Continue with your assignment."

Comeek lay stretched out on his bunk, his hands interlocked behind his head, a smile on his face and his eyes closed. To the guards patroling the corridor outside his cell, he seemed to be asleep.
But his mind was racing with thoughts of Logan's visit. He thought the risk she took in coming to him was a true measure of her devotion to him and their shared cause. The liberation of the Fleet in The Master's name. And when their day of victory came, she would be his. Just as The Master had promised. The faithful will be rewarded.
Comeek shifted restlessly as he pictured Logan's face, her full lips as she spoke, her auburn hair curling past her shoulders, the tightness of her uniform. How he had longed to touch her. And when she had spoken to him so derisively, so heatedly in feigned contempt...he couldn't stop the way his blood boiled in mixed outrage at her tone and also in excitement at her daring. He knew her protests were an act, but something about her resistance to him made him want her all the more.
I will show her how powerful I am. She has already seen how physically dominant to her I have become. I could see her desire for me in her eyes.
All the hard work would pay off. His suffering here and the taunts from the guards. Once he had his reward and the beautiful Logan in his arms, no one would laugh at the weakling Comeek any longer.
He sighed heavily and sat up, throwing his legs to the deck and getting up to pace the confines of his cell. He remembered her words and the softness of her face as she had winked at him, her meaning all too clear. She was his already, even if these other fools were too stupid to realize it.
The guards had joked with each other after she had left, saying that if he wasn't careful the lovely Lieutenant would lay into him with her fist again. He had ignored their inane attempts at humor at his expense. He wasn't afraid of Logan. On the contrary, he knew the lengths that they all had to go to for their mission to be successful. And besides, her intensity was one of the traits that drew him to her.
His mind, now fueled by inner fires upon seeing his beloved once more, went to other places. Places in which she was at his side, obeying his every whim, just as nature intended.
He leaned against the wall of his cell and pictured the triumph of finally possessing that which had been owed him for so long. In his vision, Logan stood before him, defiant and angry, but under his hands she soon learned obedience. The Warrior's uniform was gone, replaced by a shimmering gown of rarest silk that clung to her body. Her fair skin was soft beneath his fingers and she looked up into his eyes with fear and longing that she could no longer hide.
"It won't be long, my pet. Not long at all."

Den wheeled his cart to the cells in the brig. As was their custom, Comeek approached the old man so they could exchange a few private words. Most of the prisoners would approach him, not just members of the New Secret Survival Society, so the guards never paid any attention. They started by speaking in normal tones. "That's an awfully big smile for someone who is about to be transferred to the Prison Barge."
Thinking of Logan, Comeek continued to grin. "We're all living in prison. The entire fleet is a prison. What matters is the people we meet along the way."
"Whatever," Den remarked. He lowered his voice to barely a whisper. "Everything is set in place."
"I don't even know what the plan is," Comeek whispered back.
"You'll know what to do when it's time," Den told him. "It will all become clear. Until then, the message from beyond from our Master is that he wants you to stay diligent."
"Always."
Den raised his voice back to a normal level. "I don't care if you want fruit with your oatmeal. If you hadn't decided to try to blow up the Agro Ship then maybe there would be enough fruit to go around!" He wheeled the cart away, careful not to show the smile he was feeling on the inside. One down, nine to go. Everything was falling into place.

Brie was back in her own office, Commander Sheba's words echoing through her head. This could give you closure. Brie didn't really think that she needed closure. She hadn't thought as much about it the last few sectons, and the dreams had all but stopped. She had already closed that chapter of her life, she had moved on, she had found love again, she had her daughter. She was stronger, more stubborn, more determined than ever. The past would always be there, but for the first time in yahrens she looked to a future instead. This could give you closure. Commander Sheba thought that it was a good idea, and so Brie would do it.
The first thing that she needed to do was assemble her team. Brie knew from experience that after a harrowing mission it was usually a good idea to get right back on the equine and ride again. Immediately she wrote down the names Brik and Logan. If Logan was going to be involved than Persephone should be as well, since Brie knew that the new lieutenant could learn from Logan's experience. That left two open spots. Brie penciled in Amy, it would be nice to give her daughter an easy assignment for a change. She knew who she wanted for the last opening. A quick call to Doc Bkj gave her the desired result, Skyler was cleared for the mission. Brie sent out her orders.
Attention Gold Squadron:
The following people are to meet me in the Gold Squadron Ready Room in thirty centons; Captains Skyler and Amy, Lieutenants Logan, Brik and Persephone. We have been given an assignment and will be leaving the Callisto exactly one centar after we exit the jump. Captain Hawke will be in charge of Gold Squadron in our absence. Captain Stadia and Lieutenant Artus will be on standby for patrol.
Major Brie
Brie prepared her briefing. She then sent a quick note to JustinB.
JustinB:
Commander Sheba has given me an assignment, nothing dangerous or really all that interesting, but it means that I'll be going off-ship for a few centars. I'm hoping that we can meet in the launch bay for a micron to say good-bye. I never like leaving the ship without saying good-bye to those that I care about. Or I guess we should say "see you soon." Good-bye sounds too final. And as missions go, this one is about as simple as it can get.
Brie
All warriors knew that there was no such thing as a routine mission. This would be the first time that she and JustinB would be saying good-bye. She knew how badly it could strain a relationship. She dreaded the jump ending and life getting back to normal. But the good-bye kiss was always something to look forward to. And saying welcome back was always worth it.
This could give you closure. In her mind Brie had already found it.

Skyler and Brik walked into the Ready Room from the Launch Bay. Spotting Logan across the room, they walked over and took seats around the small table. Brik pushed his chair back against the wall so he could extend his legs out fully in front of him.
Logan set her cup down and eyed them. They both had sly smiles on their faces. She decided to let them have their fun and crossed her arms in front of her in her patent "Go ahead and get it out of your systems" mode.
Brik made a show of looking around the room in surprise before saying, "Wait, Skyler. I thought we were in Black's Ready Room for a micron. Isn't that where JustinB's lady would hang out in her off hours?"
Logan glared at him. "Funny."
"Oh it gets better," he said in his deep voice, punctuated with mirth.
Skyler leaned forward conspiratorially and looked from Brik to Logan. "We were just wondering. If you choose Comeek, what's the proper attire for a sealing on the Prison Barge? And if one of us has to stand up for you, is there a ceremonial exchanging of manacles?"
By the time he was done, Brik had tears rolling down his face.
All three of their personal comms beeped at the same micron.
Attention Gold Squadron:

Skyler and Brik had sobered their expressions quickly. "Looks like we have to get back to work," Brik said, rather happily.
Logan understood. Jumps could be draining and dull and the prospect of a new system was always exciting. They never knew what they'd be up against, but at least it was better than the confines of the ship for cycles on end with no relief.
Even after the danger of the last mission, Logan felt the need to get out there and do something. She never was one to stand still. A chance to get off the Callisto and out into the vastness of space with all it's possibilities still thrilled her like she was a green cadet.
"What do you think it is?" Brik asked of no one in particular.
"Don't know. But it doesn't sound like anything too drastic. Small group. No special equipment orders.," Skyler said matter of factly.
"We'll know soon enough," Logan said as she refilled her coffee cup once more.

Persephone was up early, despite the late night. She had headed straight for her physical at the med lab to get it out of the way. And then waisted no time grabbing her breakfast at the Callisto Cafe.
As she sat down at a table, hungry, she paused for a micron to reflect on the wonderful evening before with Triton. Suddenly, the flowers Lysander had sent to her billet jumped back to her mind. She would have to thank him, but make it known to him that she didn't wish to give him any thoughts that she was perhaps interested in him romantically wise. Though she enjoyed his conversation and company, friends was all she hoped for with him.
Though she still could not erase the connected feeling she felt immediately upon meeting him.
Her personal comm beeped, breaking into her thoughts and morning meal period.

Major Brie
Holy Posiedon, my first assignment ! she thought to herself.
Finishing up the last of her coffee, she left the room and headed to the ready room. A little disappointed not to meet up with Triton to say good morning before duty.
He was probably at med lab reporting for his own physical by now anyway.
