Comeek bided his time. There had been no foot traffic through the corridor since he had taken up station at the secondary input panel by the conference room. This was an out of the way part of the ship, barely used.
The two guards stationed outside the room had begun to look at him every so often, as if checking his progress. They were bored, he knew. Nothing to do but stand there and await further instruction. So Comeek made a point of cursing and making a show of pulling wires out of the panel and reconnecting them. They were all subsystems and failsafes that didn't effect anything. A few microns of this and the guards would turn their heads and stare off into nothing or talk quietly among themselves about their plans for offduty time.
Imbeciles, thought Comeek.
He heard the unmistakable sounds of boots hitting the deck further down the corridor and felt his heart start racing. Bending lower over the panel, he hazarded a peek over the open access door and saw Logan and a female Ensign he had never seen before turn the curve in the corridor, heading in his direction.
Neither of them even looked at him as they passed right by him and stopped at the door to the conference room. Logan exchanged a few words with one of the guards, who smiled and laughed at whatever she had said. She clapped him on the shoulder and Comeek heard her say, "It won't be much longer. That Pyaramid game isn't going anywhere."
Comeek could feel the heat rising to his face. It was all he could do not to reveal himself and wipe the smile of the Black Shirt's face, backhand Logan across the mouth and drag her away. He felt his shoulders hunching and his muscles flexing as he attempted to get his breathing under control. Patience. Patience.
The guards moved to either side of the door and allowed Logan and the Ensign to enter the room. As the door closed behind them the Black Shirt who had talked to Logan turned to his companion and said something too low for Comeek to hear. His counterpart laughed and said something about a private Pyramid game in his quarters.
Comeek made a mental note to kill these two men first.

Plwel almost found himself running towards the launch bay as if he were responding to an alert klaxon. As he stopped by the barracks to pick up his helmet he thought to himself "This is really it....the moment you have been waiting for all these yarhens." "I wonder where we are going?" He said to himeslf walking down the hallway to get on the lift to take him down to the bay. As he looked around he didn't seem to see anyone he knew. Ensign Plwel was still feeling a little disappointed that he didn't get the chance to talk with Commander Sheba or Colonel Charybdis while on the bridge...but he was sure there will be plenty of opportunities to do so.
As Bouri reached the launch bay, he was overtaken with all the sounds and sights it had to offer. Ground crews prepping Vipers for flight and maintainance teams conducting routine scheduled maintainance on fighters and shuttles. It was very excting to hear and see. Since he had not flown since he had been assigned to the Callisto, Ensign Plwel was not sure which Viper he had been assigned or which tube his Viper was in. He found the Deck Officer on duty, who laughed when Plwel asked the question..."Your new here aren't you?" the Deck Officer said....."yes I am" Plwel answered. Plwel was escorted to his Viper that was placed in the launch tube next to Major Skyler's Viper. As Plwel started going through his pre-flight checklist and inspection, he recorded in his mind every detail of his "home away from home"....his very own Colonial Viper. The craft looked like it had not been flown regularly in some time. It had bee repainted recently and seemed to have new ID numbers put on it. The engine ports were clean and well maintained. The laser generators were newly installed according to the ground crew member that accompanied him through the inspection. everything was ready to go. Plwel climed up the stair into the cockpit to start the computer diagnostic prior to flight. The feel of the seat was like nothing he had felt before......even though he had flown endless hours in simulation and actual Vipers with the same seat, this one was different, like it was made just for him.
Plwel's Viper checked out and was ready to launch. Major Skyler had not arrived yet, so Ensign Plwel decided to expidite things a little and start the pre-flight on the Major's Viper as well as he waited for him to arrive.

Ione followed the captain. She was glad to be doing something other than being stuck taking a tour of the ship. "Captain, may I ask what we are going to be doing?"

Logan filled in the new Ensign on the events of the last patrol and their discovery of the mysterious ship and it's pilot as they walked into the depths of the ship.
The ensign listened attentively and only asked questions for clarification. She took it well, whcih surprised Logan. Even she herself had been blown away by the revelation that this man they were going to see was from their own past.
Reaching the conference room, Logan exchanged idle conversation with the obviously bored guards outside the door and entered. Kalten was just where they'd left him, sitting at the end of the table, leaning back in his chair with his legs stretched out before him. The guards inside the room acknowledged the Warriors with a nod and remained at their stations.
Kalten's eyes held curiousity and a little trepidation. Logan thought she saw doubt as well.
"Lt. Kalten, your story, so far, has checked out. Now, the Commander needs more information on this rift. And we'd like you to give it to us." Logan wasn't threatening, but her stance and words betrayed her conviction.

Skyler arrived in the launch bay and found Plwel performing the pre-flight on his Viper. He knew he had taken too much time up with the Triton incident and was glad to see a Warrior squared away enough to take the initiative and do something with out being told to.
“Ensign, sorry I am late and thanks for the Pre-Flight… have you noted any problems?” Skyler knew there wouldn’t be, the deck crews kept the Vipers in top notch shape. Pre-Flight was just a formality that needed to be done, even the best might miss something.
“No problems Major, just about finished up.” Plwel looked relieved that Skyler wasn’t going to bite his head off for over stepping his duties.
From across the Flight Deck Skyler heard his name being called….
“Skyler! Skyler!” turning to look Skyler noticed a Warrior jogging over towards them. He almost had to rub his eyes to make sure he wasn’t dreaming. As the Warrior got with in a few feet he slammed on brakes and snapped to attention. “Sorry Skyler, I mean Major….. Ensign…”
Skyler cut him off….. “Upham, cut that protocol felgercarb out.” And Skyler took his right arm in firm grasp and placed his left hand on his shoulder. “How did you manage to get a Warriors Uniform and Ensign insignia?”
“Remember that Med Tech, Mary?” Upham started
“Yeah, the one that was a little girl that you pulled from that building right before it collapsed back on Caprica.”
“The one and the same, well, she is a Doctor now. She knew about the injury to my noodle from the falling debris. She studied up on it and found a way to remove the scar tissue that kept me from flying with out blinding me and well, here I am.”
“So what are you doing on the Callisto?”
Upham handed over the orders that Skyler opened and cracked a small smile. “So now you are my problem…. He looked up with a mischievous grin… Well, the Lords have a twisted sense of humor don’t they. I have a mission at the micron, but head up to Gold’s barracks, get your gear squared away and Give Brik a call. The CQ Officer will be able to find him easy. He can give you the ½ cubit tour and get your duty assignment.”
“Brik is on this bucket too… I feel right at home... Good luck on the mission and see you in the O-Club when you return.”
“Before you go Upham, this is Ensign Plwel; he is a new recruit also. Plwel, this is Ensign Upham.”
Plwel and Upham shook hands “Yeah, we were in the academy class at the same time, different groups thought.” Plwel responded
“Upham smiled back “Yeah, I had to work hard to keep up with this ones score. Looks like I have fallen into the best of the best here… Both of you be careful and come back safe.”
With that Skyler and Plwel climbed into their Vipers and Upham head towards the barracks.

After climbing back in his Viper seat, Plwel donned his helmet and initiated the computer start up sequence. as the cockpit lid was lowering and locking into place, Ensign Plwel hear major Skyler establish contact with launch control on the bridge requesting permission to launch. The moment was finally here when he heard over the comm line "Callisto bridge transferring launch control to Alpha and Beta Vipers.........Launch when ready." With that Bouri initiated the lauch sequence by powering up his engines by pushing on the three turbo engine buttons on his console. As he felt the engines powering up behind him, Plwel's thumb shook a little as he held it over the Turbo button on the control stick. With a gigantic grin on his face he had not remembered having for several yarhens, Ensign Plwel followed his squadron commander by pressing the button, firing his turbo engines, and speeding him down the launch tube. As his entire body pushed back into his seat, all Plwel could concentrate on was the magnificent show of white and red launch tube lights racing by him....a sight he had never really noticed or appreciated until this very centon. Suddenly, he was out in open space.....only the blackness of space filled with endless stars. As he pulled around and came up into formation next to Major Skyler, Plwel hoped his commander would note that launch as a text book perfect execution. he also noticed the other ships of the fleet in the distance. Since he didn't know exactly where they were going, Ensign Plwel decided this must be the right centon to ask the Major what was going on. Plwel spoke up......"Sir, would you mind filling me in now on where we are going and what exactly we are going to be doing?"

On the bridge, I noticed that the two vipers streaked away from the Callisto. Flt. Sgt. Geenie turned and reported, "Major Skyler and Ensign Plwel have launched, sir."
I nodded and returned to the routine paperwork that needed to be attended to while itching to find out more about this Kalten and his work...

When Upham reached the barracks he walked in and the CQ officer noticed that he seemed new and walked up to Upham and said can I help you ensign and Upham noticed the Lieutenant speaking to him and he replied yes sir, I am looking for Captain Brik? The Lt walked over to his computer and located Capt Brik and said Captain Brik is in his office. Upham said thank you sir and left.
Upon reaching Captain Brik’s office he knocked on the door and heard the captain bellow come so he went in and was walking up to the captain’s desk when Brik looked up and Brik could not believe his eyes.
Upham is that you Brik blurted out and don’t you know impersonating a officer and a warrior at that is a serious offense!
Upham always quick with a smart comeback said well Brik it has worked okay for you all these years and I see you are impersonating a Captain these days and then his mind caught up with his mouth and he realized what he had said and was about to apologize when Brik burst out laughing and said that is the Upham I remember always says the first thing that came to his mind and then thought about it afterwards.
So how come you are here and how did you manage to get a warrior’s uniform and ensign insignia? The last I heard of you, you were a sergeant major in the Special Forces
I am assigned to Gold Squadron.
When Brik heard this he immediately said heaven help the squadron then! Then grabbed Upham and gave me a massive bearhug. Welcome aboard the squadron buddy.
Major Skyler told me to tell you “Brik, Give him the ½ cubit tour and then give him his duty assignment.”
Brik said okay shipmate let’s get you squared away and then we can give you the ½ cubit tour and get you your duty assignment.”
Thanks Brik, it is good to see friendly faces for a change

Ione stayed quiet and paid very strict attention to what was going on. She remembered from her training that it was the best way to garner as much information as she could. It was vital to the investigation that she paid attention.

Skyler altered his course to head to the Rising Star.
......"Sir, would you mind filling me in now on where we are going and what exactly we are going to be doing?"
“Not at all Ensign…” Skyler checked to make sure they were on a Military Channel, and one used just for short range ship to ship contact. Unless you were within a few hundred feet of the transmitter you could pick it up. It was designed to decay at a fast rate. Great for recon patrols etc. It allowed the ships to communicate with out giving away positions or tactics in battle. “We have three Warriors missing, and when we went to find them we found an older model Colonial Probe Craft flown by a Lt. Kalten. He claims he is from the past, which our research so far can confirm. We are heading to the Rising Star to talk to a Scapino. He is Tech over there, however in the time that Kalten is claiming to be from, he worked at the same outpost. I am hoping he will be able to tell us something about the Outpost, what destroyed it and maybe even Kalten. I was hoping your knowledge of the Rising Star and hopefully its crew with your past will come in handy. If not, I still feel this will be a good learning experience. Normally new Ensigns are assigned duties like laundry and clean turbo flushes to test their resolve, their dedication.”
